oh roosmum you definitely win the biggest baby competition! your milk must be fab!

tipex... great news about sleep! he sounds like he's doing well now. do you find yourself tireder now thougyh? when linus started sleeping more i suddenly found it really hard to drag myself out of bed when he did wake up!

Must dash as he is wailing in his cot right now... having suddenly decided that he can't get himself to sleep... after 5.5 months of doing just that!

don't you just love them?

Ditto Tipex - non-stop! Thank goodness for her naps. It's lovely but i get very little done, mind you was thinking that I'll look back in a year once she's a toddler & into EVERYTHING and think how lovely & easy this bit was!!!
Have started doing some purees for the freezer but will try to wait till nearer 6 months for weaning I think. There have been so many threads on weaning it gets a bit confusing as to what to do - do you judge it on what your baby is doing & trust instincts or follow recommended advice which seems to change every few years? Hmmmm. Am inclinied to delay out of laziness - it sounds a right clart (though fun!)

jolly4 · 23/07/2005 16:25

hi all i am still here just never get time sorry katy a beaut but like tipex i am knakkered feeling a bit better thou i find lack of sleep worse getting a bit of routine sort of now will post when i get time again xx

Got ds weighed this week - 22 weeks, 14 pounds. Hee-hee, no muscles needed here! And he slept through last night! 10:30 to 7:30. Yesss! Just need a few repeats now.

I was thinking he entertained himself very well during the day, but this week a friend looked after dd (3yo) for the day, and it was such hard work looking after ds by himself. Clearly it is dd who is entertaining him.

He woke up at 5am again today. Phooey. Although it was dh's turn to do the night feeds, hee-hee.

Tipex- being on your own all day with a baby is hard work! They're cute and all that but it is nice when they can communicate a bit more (which is long before they can talk).

starlover · 25/07/2005 21:10

hello all! hope you're all well....
we've had computer troubles, so not been on as much as usual... strangely a lot more housework has been done though! lol

Linus is now sitting up brilliantly by himself, moving round in circles and sometimes backwards whilst on his tummy, and generally being a little pickle!
he is teething and is chewing on EVERYTHING and being very dribbly... meaning constant bib-wearing!

i think we're going to go swimming next week which should be fun. he adores the paddling pool so i imagine he;ll love swimming! will let you know how we get on!

roosmum · 25/07/2005 22:00

hiya all

go linus, with the sitting-spinning thing!
how cute is it to see them sitting up by themselves huh?!

no teeth here yet; roo's still only marginally interested in food, but i keep trying him with bits & pieces of food. recently wondering whether he thinks puree is for 4 mth olds &, being a big 6 mth old little boy, wants 'proper' food. so last night gave him a little taste of mashed cheese & potato bake, which seemed to go down better than pureed pear/squash etc.
well he's nearly 6 mths anyway, am a little unsure abt the cheese but he seemed more interested in this than in fruit/veg alone. what do you guys think??

we're away down to south (wales) on thursday, to stay with my mum, whilst dh goes away to states for 10 days, not really happy for him to travel under current conditions in london etc, but he's gotta go
plus we'll really miss him & he's convinced that roo will have forgotten him by the time he gets back

ok, getting an early night in (for a change...MN addict, i could be here all night, specially with that bf until age 4 thread...like last night )

starlover · 25/07/2005 22:03

ooh i think cheese will be fine! as long as he isn't eating tons of it! lol

i have to go and watch big brother now though. and dp is getting cross because the computer is VERY noisy at the mo... long story!

anyway, hope you have a nice time at your mums, and that your dp gets home safe and sound! i bet roo will be so excited to see him after he's been away!

roosmum · 25/07/2005 22:04

ah rats, looks like i'm back...that's what happens when you check active convos, it's a nightmare!!

sl - emilia is lovely (not sure abt rainbow myself...tho i chose roo's name, so i make NO judgements really on others' choices)

potential dd would have been jemima (dh's choice), what do you think of that?? i like it a lot, but then i like loads of girly names, find boys sooo much more difficult.
daisy was another fave.

roosmum · 25/07/2005 22:06

nope, it was just a few grated bits really, to make his potato slightly more interesting!
think it worked tbh.

does linus have most anything by now?

what abt other mums that have weaned??

futurity · 26/07/2005 17:57

Just sat here checking email and Sam is in his bumbo. Glanced across and saw him flexing upwards (so his bum is out of the seat but legs still trapped). He really looked like he was going to fly out of the back of it and he is smiling his head off thinking it is a great game!!

Weaning..can't wait until he turns 6 months in a couple of weeks as I am so bored of the same old fruit and veg. He is the weight of an average 7-8 month old but I am not going to introduce meat and dairy quite yet I think. He had bad tummy trouble last night due to avocado (my fault..he had too much!) and it freaked me so going to hold out on the next stage.

Hazellnut · 26/07/2005 23:11

Hello all. Just a quick check in as still no computer . Anyway, have just about caught up with all the goings on.... Glad to hear all the babes are progressing.

News here, dd is moving, not crawling but seems to get around some how !! Sleeps are very tricky as she turns herself over, then can't get very far and starts wailing so back to rocking her to sleep !!!!

Also doing that 'escape from Bumbo' thing.... there goes another short lived piece of equipment !! Great whilst it lasted though. I have told her she's going to have to eat her meals in the kitchen now in the high chair so now tv whilst she eats !!

As for feed, I think I have bred a monster. For one so small she loves her food, 3 meals a day, 2 courses !! What a piggy !

anyway, take care y'all and catch up soon.

oh tipex, hope all goes ok for you both.

i'm sure he'll have his milk when he's hungry enough - but wow at that timespan, roo would've been beside himself hours ago

hazellnut...how are you coping without MN?? is your house spotless?
i'm about to go away to my mum's for 10 days, whilst dh is abroad, so no MN for me i doubt!

right gotta get sorted for picnic lunch with friends, here's hoping weather holds ok...

starlover · 27/07/2005 11:14

lol, our pc is really noisy at the mo, so haven't been using it as much and i have done soooooooo much housework! lol

linus does the same thing in the bumbo chair! but he gets cross because he can't get out of ti. i have never met such a stubborn, willful child before! well... not at 6 months!

hope all goes well with the scan tipex! bet he'll be ravenous later if he hasn't had any milk!

Hey guys. Just wondered whether I could join your little group. DS was born on 1 Feb (13 days late). He is my first. I'm in the West Midlands just south of Brum.

roosmum · 27/07/2005 19:32

Tipex, i'm glad to read that your baby needs entertaining all the time as if i hear my mam say one more time that i'm spoiling Amelia No really i get on good with my mam but she does say it alot!
Amelia likes to be held or sang to or even just looked at but look away to wash up even and Heaven help you!! I guess it must all be so exciting for them. At the moment, when i want to do bottles, i lock the dog outside and put Amelia infront of the patio doors and she stares at him in awe!
Mik72, i think i just gop with the flow for weaning, i know current advice is 6 months and i'm not saying I know better but i truly beleive Amelia was more than ready. She only has rice and maybe a single pureed veg but she sits with her mouth gaping open and crys when it's finished. Go with your intincts i'd say
She had a really restless night last night, back downstairs (which i never do but dp was away and i just caved) at 10.30 for a bottle and another one at 4 and wide awake at 6!!! (She usually goes from 8 ish till 5 ish)
Fingers crosed for tomight.
Jooly good to see you popped in and hope you're well+

pjsmum · 27/07/2005 21:52
