oohhh sl - poor linus. roo was devastated when he fell over - when sitting - & biffed his head on the floor the other day
i felt awful, but big cuddles (& a boob!) made up for it!

starlover · 15/07/2005 16:25

it's horrible isn't it?
he just cried and cried. real tears and everything... gave him some water (as he'd just had a feed) and he was ok.
Then when i was walking out of his room with him i wobbled and walked into the door frame and caught his arm!!!! he has a red mark there now and a bit of a graze!
oh, i'm such a bad mummy today!

everyone who is rolling now... are you finding nappy changes becoming more challenging?????? every time i lay him down for a change linus is trying to roll over and get away! lol

starlover · 15/07/2005 16:25

oops! Linus's site!

futurity · 15/07/2005 20:31

gossifer: how's the sleeping without feeding going? Sam got the idea really quickly and has slowly got better at putting himself to sleep..first night was lots of screaming and CC, the next night he took about 45 mins of singing and mumbling and now he seems down to 20 mins of that which I am happy with!

Have I got the heaviest baby?...got him weighed the other day and he is a massive 18lb 11oz at 22 weeks (my other son weighed this at 7 months!)

hello all
dear tipex, i hope things will get better again for you, may i just be about your dip in the sea, how lovely! we tried to go to the sea on the weekend but car broke down, so had a bit of an AA saturday, not nice!
futurity - thanks for asking, going well, seems a lot better at going down, so feeling a lot less worried about it, having said that not working tonight!
starlover, leon fell off the sofa about a week ago when my dp was right there! but all was well, totally know how you feel!
leon is also tarting to try & turn as hos nappy is changed, will be all downhill from here!!
BUT!!!!! leon is now moving backwards commando style!!! totally shocked & not sure how that happened so soon
big cuddles to everyone
xxx

W0MBAT · 18/07/2005 08:23

Tipex - hoping things get better for you soon too. Although, dd does sleep through the night, I haven't slept well since she was born. I find it very frustrating.

Futurity - Sam is a lot bigger than dd - she's just hit 14lbs. She is a lot smaller than average though.

Starlover - Linus is gorgeous! As for rolling over, I am having to do one-handed nappy changes so I can hold her down with the other one.

Have any of you had problems with baby being really sicky? I am worried that dd is lactose intolerant.

W0MBAT · 18/07/2005 08:28

gossifer - the commando crawling sounds hilarious.

gossifer · 18/07/2005 09:02

totally forgot to tell you gorgeous linus is starlover, love those bumbo shots - sums it all up really - lol

Nik72 · 18/07/2005 09:17

Ooooh, he looks so cute - I want a bumbo now! Bouncy chair has gone to my sisters ds now as Ellie was making great attempts to hurl herself out of it. We got a chair that will double up as a high chair then a toddler seat so not sure if I can justify a bumbo too.
Took her swimming for the first time at the weekend which was fab - she loved it.
Sorry to hear the sleep thing has relapsed Tipex - does it make it better knowing that he can do it?? Sounds like a lovely holiday.

oooooooooooh tipex

cannot wait til i go away on saturday!

Nik72 · 18/07/2005 11:20

Where are you going? ( as have just a week's holiday in own home with dh doing non-stop DIY)

W0MBAT · 18/07/2005 12:14

Tippex, thanks for your concern. Yes, she is putting on weight. I did speak to my HV about it and she said 'she is just a sicky baby'. However, I am not happy to just put it down to this so will be going to the doctor today to see what they think. Anyway, have a fab holiday. Enjoy the sunshine!

I took my dd swimming last week too and she loved it. Have one of those baby floats, which they can sit in and paddle without you having to hold on to them all the time.

starlover · 18/07/2005 12:58

gosh i can't keep up with it all!!!!

right now linus is making vain attempts to roll over the other way (normally rolls to his left)... whilst simultaneously kicking a box of babywipes around and chewing his playgym!

wombat... has your dd always been sicky, or is it recent? is she formula fed? have you recently changed forumla or anything else in her diet? When I started ds on formula it took ages to find one that suited him. He is still a bit sicky, but much better than he was. Aptamil and Farleys in particular made him really sick.

TIpex... again, sorry to hear that ds's sleep has been erratic again! But as you say, it's still good that he is getting himself to sleep now... that's the start of it I think... now he just has to learn to get to sleep when he wakes up in the middle of the night!

We're off to baby clinic now to get him weighed. was 17lb about 3/4 weeks ago so goodness only knows what he'll be now!!!! i may win biggest baby competition yet!! LOL

futurity · 18/07/2005 13:44

Yes..I have great arm muscles due to lugging him around! He is 23 weeks tomorrow..how old is Linus? Looking forward to hearing what he weighs. I have phoned the HV for a chat about his weight as the lady I saw last week when he was weighed was hopeless and I just want to check that Sam being this big isn't too much of a problem (he is between the 75th and 91st centile now!) Off swimming this pm with both boys so they should both burn some energy off! Have also got Harry Potter and have managed 3 chapters so far! I am a very quick reader and would have finished by now if I had the time. Kinda nice to savour it though ..will make it last the week hopefully!

W0MBAT · 18/07/2005 21:12

Starlover - she has always been sicky even when I was breastfeeding. She is on Farleys at the moment so might try and change formula. Which do you use?

Hope all babies are good tonight.

starlover · 18/07/2005 21:18

futurity you just beat me!
well.. Linus was 23 weeks today and 18lb 12oz! (so an ounce bigger but a week further on iyswim!!!)
he is on the 75th centile...
got him measured too and he was 72cm which is 95th centile!!!!
he doesn't look fat at all really, because he is quite tall!

wombat... we use cow and gate organic now. tried EVERYTHING, and this one seems ok. sma and ordinary cow and gate made Linus constipated, everything else made him puke! lol

futurity · 19/07/2005 09:28

Well even though Sam is big at least he is not the only one..that is a relief! I shall try and do his height today ..sounds like we are going to have two strapping lads when they grow up! I spoke to the HV and she reasurred me that his weight was fine..she said they are only concerned if they jump up a few centiles which he hasn't. She said as well that they tend to put on a lot of weight before they start to move...eek!

W0MBAT · 19/07/2005 11:36

Haven't tried cow and gate organic. Might get some today. Friends and family are getting fed up of dd throwing up all over their furniture and carpets when I come to visit.

Thanks for the advice.

gossifer · 20/07/2005 09:13

dear tipex, good news!!!!!
well, leons never been one to stick to any kind of routine in the day, but he was doing 20 mins in the am, 45 mins lunchtime and a little snooze about 3/4pm (all very rough estimates!) and then going down at 10pm-8am (we love him!)
but, last 2 days a snooze in the morning, an hour at lunchtime then no nap in the afternoon and then to sleep at night at 8pm!!!!!!!
so hne sleeps long at night but hardly anyhting in the day
don't know if that helps!
hello to everyone, hope things are good for all
leon is blowing raspberries, new game that lasts for hours!

W0MBAT · 20/07/2005 13:48

10pm-8am - that's not fair Gossifer! :-)

My dd has not structured naps during the day. I used to try and follow Gina Ford, and go for a 45 minutes nap in the morning and 2 hours at lunch but dd fell into her own routine. Now she sleeps from 2-3 hours during the day.

At night, she goes down at 7, feeds at 10:30 and then sleeps through till 6. Hopefully, I'll be able to drop the 10:30 feed once she is weaned.

roosmum · 20/07/2005 13:52

hiya mummies, just a quick one here, roo is mid nappy change!

& on the big baby topic.....roo was 19lb 1oz abt a month ago, so surely he wins the baby-sumo-wrestler competition! i have no idea what he weighs now, going on previous weights prob round abt 21lbs i guess. he's always been on 91st centile, sometimes a little above & IT DOES MY BACK IN to cart him around! have recently got a hipseat, which helps.

hope all are sleeping/eating ok...roo not so keen on food atm, so think weaning was a bit of a false start here. he's nearly 6 mths tho, so i'd like him to take a little, if only to get used to the sensation of food in mouth.

how's everyone enjoyed the hot weather?? seems to have cooled up here now, which is a relief in some ways (we wait months for summer & then don't know what to do with the heat when we get it!)
must dash!

xxx

roosmum · 20/07/2005 13:54

& we have lots of rasperries & hissing-type sounds here too, v. funny.......& NO routine whatsoever!
sometimes wonder whether it'd help to have a little more structure, but wouldn't know where to start tbh!
