Right-ho here we are - hope you've all found it ...... let the new thread commence....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
W0MBAT · 13/07/2005 08:43

By the way, I hope you don't mind me joining your group. Just realised you have been going for a while.

My dd is a February baby (20 weeks old) and I would really like to share experiences with all of you.

Anybody got one of those babycook steamer/blenders? They have been highly recommended but seem really expensive at 54.99.

wombat.. you're more than welcome here!
and don't listen to tipex.. she doesn't whinge at all! she just has a rather nocturnal baby!

actually tipex you do sound a bit more upbeat now! (or just covering it up well!!!) how is the sleeping? i have found linus has been really sleepy in this hot weather, and grumpy today as well.
it's so lovely when they start laughing along isn't it? you don't realise how much they really perceive until they start interacting like that.
good luck for the scan... fingers crossed all is ok!

gossifer · 13/07/2005 17:05

hello there wombat and welcome! tell us all about your little one please!
thanks to all for your tips on food and pureeing - will have to sort out a handheld blender - money is tight though!
tipex i love that story - how nice to have your ds laughing away!
fruitful - leon used to get his arm stuck, and now he rolls and rolls until he can't no more (& occasionally bangs his head!)- i'd enjoy the lack of unpredictability!
hope everyone else is ok in the heat

W0MBAT · 13/07/2005 18:05

Thanks for welcoming to your group. I have a dd and she is going to be 5 months next week. Can't believe how time has flown.

She's lovely with a chubby face, big blue eyes and great dimples. She is also very noisy and can be a bit of a baby diva so quite a challenge at times. She does sleep through the night though so I am able to re-charge my batteries.

Would like to hear about your little ones too.

Blondeinlondon · 13/07/2005 18:40

Hello, can I join in too? My DS will also be 5mths next week.
Do you all have highchairs already? I'm wondering when to get one...

W0MBAT · 13/07/2005 18:45

I haven't got a high chair yet but recently bought a bumbo seat, which I've been using for weaning. Very portable too so I take it out with me. Although, I do get the odd funny look as it does look very similar to a potty.

gossifer · 13/07/2005 19:53

wombat - i have a bumbo & leon (5months on the 17th & big blue eyes) looks sooooooo funny in it, keeps me laughing
hello blondeinlondon & welcome! i'm a londoner too, stoke newington, where are you?
i have a stokke tripp trapp highchair, its wooden & can be adapted to the size of your baby/toddler/even grownup! they're on the mothercare website or you can buy them direct from born again,(need starlover here to insert a link) not cheap but a longterm thing, also means your little one eats at the table with you
xxxx

W0MBAT · 13/07/2005 20:36

Gossifer - yeah the bumbo is hilarious and could eat dd up when she's in it - so cute!

How long can Leon sit in it for? I can't get mine to stay in longer than about 10 minutes.

gossifer · 13/07/2005 21:11

leon does about 10mins too,
about the same in the highchair because he can't really sit up, but looks so sweet
we've been lent one of those bouncing chairs that you hang in the doorway that we haven't tried yet - i think its almost time for him to have a go.......

futurity · 13/07/2005 21:26

Bouncing chairs in doorways are fab although am worried now as Sam is so heavy (18lb+) that I worry he will damage the door! He also loves his Bumbo but gets annoyed and wants to escape after about 10 mins as well. He rolls onto his side but that's it about it. Oh...and recently has been waking earlier...6.00am for a few mornings! GRRRR! (AND he still has feed at 10.30 so he isn't waking hungry..he just sings!)

Blondeinlondon · 13/07/2005 21:38

Gossifer - we are in Balham

My boy just tends to go sideways in the Bumbo or reaches for his feet! No doubt he will get the hang of sitting in it soon

starlover · 14/07/2005 16:45

hi all, and welcome to blondeinlondon!!!

just a quickie as pc playing up and i'm not supposed to be on here!!!

we also have a bumbo and linus is ok in it but will keep on leaning so far forward he makes himself sck!!!!

he has started sleeping on his tummy now as well! strange child

we do have a high chair and he sits in it now and then wihle i am busy in the kitchen (so not v. often!lol)... but gets bored quite quickly!

anyway, hope you are all well and will be back for a longer chat soon i hope!!!1

fruitful · 14/07/2005 17:09

Door bouncers are fab! If they have reasonable head control they can go in them. Ds loves it. He hasn't worked out how to make it bounce himself yet but he loves turning round in it, and just being upright. I think I want to get one of those Graco Entertainer things (like a baby walker only stationary with lots of toys round it). Anyone used one?

I tried ds in our Bumbo seat this morning - he was happy for ages. Another place to park him, great! Although I think I'd have to gethim out quick if he started to get cross - he's not fat enough to be wedged into it. I remember dd arching her back and going over the back of it, onto the floor. Whoops.

W0MBAT · 14/07/2005 20:17

I have got one of the stand up door bouncers and find them hilarious! DD pivots around in circles continously.

How on earth did they keep babies amused in caveman times without door bouncers, play gyms and bumbos?

Wombat - they played with the cute ickle sabretooth tigers

Tipex - hooray! Now he's worked out what his cot is for maybe he'll carry on. My Ds hasn't found his willy yet but I'm sure it won't be long. Good job its too far away to get in his mouth...

gossifer · 15/07/2005 09:04

dear tipex, i'm so happy for you!!!!! lets hope it carries on, & that the rest of your hols are great

yes, leon found his willy a few weeks ago, loves to play with it given any available oppotunity

soooooo, we're off on hols in a week, a week at a frinds place in france, then a week camping in devon, any top tips from those who've been away already?
thanks

gossifer · 15/07/2005 09:07

ps, futurity, don't know what a graco entertainment thingy is, but thanks for the warning re bumbo!
we are gonna get the door bouncer out RIGHT NOW!

gossifer · 15/07/2005 09:07

soooooooooooooo sorry, meant to say fruitful!

W0MBAT · 15/07/2005 09:59

So jealous of you all going on holiday. I'm not going away until September. Would be interested in hearing about anyone's experiences about travelling on the plane with their little one. I am not looking forward to that part.

W0MBAT · 15/07/2005 10:01

BTW - my sister-in-law gave me a galt playnest yesterday. dd loves it and it's a great way to keep her still for five minutes as she is constantly on the move now she's rolling.

starlover · 15/07/2005 10:33

ooh can't keep up with this thread!!!!

TIPEX!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! well done him!!! let's hope it continues. I reckon you may be right about the sea air... ds always sleeps better if we've been out and about. Gosh, you must be a new woman with all this sleep!

We're also having the willy problem. Although most of the time he doesn't hurt himself he just plays with ti! lol

Actually am feeling very as Linus fell off the bed this morning! I fell asleep with him next to me and next thing I know i woke up hearing this thud and he was on the floor! He was very shocked and cried a lot, but was fine after some milk and breakfast thank goodness!

We also have a door bouncer which he loves. He really enjoys being upright and looking around!

W0MBAT · 15/07/2005 10:36

starlover - my dh felt really guilty yesterday as dd fell off the bed when he took her upstairs. We were really worried as she absolutely screamed her head off but was fine after a big cuddle.

roosmum · 15/07/2005 15:48

hiya all...

....& welcome wombat & blondeinlondon

yes, found willy here too, unfortunately!
guess it's a boy thing !

whoever was asking about tripp trapp (wombat??), i wd recommend a baby dan chair, just about identical as far as i can see, & a bargain price on kiddicare.com. roo now eats with us at dinnertime - he's had some rice, pear, apple, carrot. papaya for lunch today, prob. carrot later, first time he's had 2 meals.

well done on the sleep tipex, how fab do you feel after a night of sleep?! or kinda dazed, as sometimes happens to me, like you can hardly believe it!

gotta go, roo's shouting!
