Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
starlover · 06/07/2005 20:52

tipex, am so jealous that you are still breastfeeding! was so unahppy when i had to give up
i'd even put up with linus waking during the night if i could b/f him!

i think you're doing the right thing though, even if the text books say otherwise. you all need as much sleep as you can get. no point you ALL being sleep deprived and unhappy just because a load of books say that's how you should do it!

Angeliz · 06/07/2005 21:20

Thanks Tipex
I'll see wher i can see that buggie in the flesh so to speak before i buy as it needs good suspension for the woods and walks next to the caravan.

I wouldn't worry about 'doing it all wrong'. I don't think there is a right or wrong way, just whatever makes life easier for all of you.
Basically my dd1 just started sleeping through (without toddling into our bed at 4ish) when Amelia was born.
Amelia has been wolfing down solids ,infact i had to stop yesterday as i was worried about giving her too much. I am immensly proud of myself as she is eating homemade organic carrot mush and LOVES it!!! (Far cry from dd1's favourite...dippers shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!)
Long may it last as dd1 did enjoy healthy food too once upon a time.
I don't know if it is hhunger but Amelia has been getting up earlier . This morning she was awake at 4.30 and would not go back to sleep at all! I was tired so i really feel for you!!

futurity · 07/07/2005 21:51

Just a quick note to say I love the bumbo photos starlover! He is soooooooo cute!

Sam is doing well..also eating lots of solids (I also worry it is too much..hard to get the balance right as if I give a bit less he screams the place down!). He can roll onto his side and..well that's about it! LOVES sitting up...when he lies down you can see him leaning to try and sit up! Bumbo is good for sitting in as he is along way off sitting by himself. He is 5 months tomorrow..where has the time gone!?!

starlover · 07/07/2005 21:53

thanks futurity

doesn't time fly???/ i keep seeing people with tiny brand new babies, and i kind of miss it... the newness and the excitement and everything!

getting broody now! lol

futurity · 07/07/2005 21:56

I saw a friend with a two week old boy the other day (weirdly he will be in the same school year as Sam but they are worlds apart at the moment). The baby was soooo small and all asleep and cute but no way on earth would I go back to those early days!!

Hazellnut · 08/07/2005 20:29

Hi all - still no computer - gone off to the menders though. DH working from home so snuck on. Hope no one has had any involvement in yesterday's events.... Think its only me and Gossifer in London but guess you could have friends/family etc... what a day ?!

Things here fine - dd loving solids still but not much else new to report. Still not gone back to the real nappies, just couldn't bear the nappy rash (first time she'd ever had it).

SL - I would be up for a meet up in the south east (or somewhere convenient for as many as poss)...

roosmum · 08/07/2005 21:59

hi all,

no tipex, no hols for us i don't think, tho dh has to go away to the states at the end of the month (work ), so roo & i will be staying with my mum.

oooohh, yes i can hardly remember the tiny baby days, it has gone SO MUCH FASTER than i ever imagined it would!! & broody here too starlover , i so def. want another baby one day, tho i guess having 2 must be so hard (esp in those early weeks....!). not for a little while yet i think anyway! anyone else??

roo has had baby rice a couple of times now, but i'm not 100% convinced that he's bothered abt it, so might back off from weaning for a little while yet, if poss.

hope all babes & mums are doing ok

Nik72 · 09/07/2005 08:33

Broody already - OMG!!! You're mad . Think I'll have to let the memories fade a bit first. Those first 3 months were awful....I suppose the one advantage is how good things seem now in comparison. I was bathing dd last night and decided to squirt her with her new bath toy and she just burst out laughing, it was so sweet & I thought how much I love being a mummy which is fab because not that long ago i thought i'd made a huge mistake & was feeling so down.
Haven't started weaning as she's only just 4 months but doubt we'll last till 6 months as she's getting pretty interested in what we're eating.
The London thing was ghastly, my sister works in the city but luckily was already at work..she's been cycling everywhere since as too nervous to get on a bus, can't say I blame her.
Am loving all the Linus piccies, he's so cute! They're at such a lovely stage aren't they? I can't believe I made a baby as gorgeous as dd!!

starlover · 10/07/2005 22:11

i think i must have been very, very, VERY lucky with Linus because he's just been so good! Everyone says "oh those first couple of months are hell"... but they weren't!

I imagine my chances of having another one like him are very small though! And I think that if I had a very difficult second child it would be even harder because I am used to him being so good iyswim...

when he was little he just used to sleep loads and just wake for feeds, and then go to sleep again and i found myself sitting around with nothing to do

gossifer · 11/07/2005 12:09

gosh, hello everyone - not really managed to get near a computer for ages!
i hope all are well and the little babes are healthy and happy in this lovely weather - it really makes a difference to what we can do doesn't it?
leon is really well and enjoying his solids - banana a favourite by a long way - can anyone help me with how to get things really pureed? i find it hard to get all the lumps out and leon seems to have probs with them? i cook and then use a blender?
had my first accident yesterday!!! he rolled off the sofa with me sitting right next to him (i was drinking out of a water bottle!) but was fine and laughed!
my new favourite thing is shiny, crinkly wrapping paper - leon loves it and spends ages mesmerised! a great life saver to have in your bag that takes up no space!
keep well and lots of cuddles for everyone

W0MBAT · 11/07/2005 16:50

Hi anybody's dd/ds rolling over constantly and getting frustrated because can't move from that position. My dd has being doing it constantly for 3 weeks and doesn't seem to have progressed.

hi gossifer! ds likes banana too... i puree it with a hand blender like this

although... got in in tesco for £24.99! but the little pot thing is great for whizzing stuff up.
also find it helps to add a little milk to get it really smooth.

Wombat.. yes! ds keeps doing this. although if there is a toy in front of him he is happy to stay on his tum and pl,ay with it. actually just had a sleep on his tummy too!

tipex.. ds goes in fits and starts with his! sometimes he is very "chatty" other days he just growls at people! lol
read your thread on CHD... how are things? when is the scan?

W0MBAT · 12/07/2005 09:16

Glad to hear I'm not the only one Starlover.

Impressed that some of your little ones are on eating fruit. I must try again with the weaning. Took me about 1/2 hour to feed dd a teaspoon of baby rice last week.

The talking is great isn't it? DD said ga ga last week. Can't wait for her to say ma-ma although I hear da-da always comes first. envy

gossifer · 12/07/2005 10:04

hello
thanks for the tips starlover
leon seems to have a kind of yell that is very loud, and his normal talking at the mo
but also sometimes a ya ya ya

favourite sleeping place is the tummy, but sometimes he gets stuck to and gets all in a kerfuffle!!

ooops

starlover · 12/07/2005 14:03

for all those who have weaned... how many meals are you giving? and what kind of amounts?

Linus is SOOOO sleepy at the moment... kind of worried, because he never used to sleep this much! Think i'll ask the HV about it tomorrow.

Linus goes grrrrrrrr like a lion all the time. It's very cute. He also has this kind of fake cough which magically disappears when people talk to him!

gossifer · 12/07/2005 18:45

starlover - leon has that cough!!!!!
he eats at 11am & 6pm, about 15 weaning spoonfuls at least each time - he is also v.sleepy - the heat? had his 1st proper 1.5 hour lunchtime nap today - had to keep checking he was breathing! lol

sleepiness could also be growth?
xxx

starlover · 12/07/2005 18:48

oh good glad it's not just linus seeking attention! lol
he's also started having mini tantrums!!!! at 5 months!!! if he drops his toy, or if you take anything away from him he does this high pitched squealing and starts crying!!!

i have just started giving linus a breakfast... so he has 10am, 1pm and 7.30pm
have no idea if this is enough/too much... lol

W0MBAT · 12/07/2005 19:20

I have the same thing starlover. DD has this pully mobile thing and when she pulls it, it plays music. The second the music stops, she screams so loud, I'm surprised that glass doesn't break!!

starlover · 12/07/2005 19:36

becoming proper little people!!!

fruitful · 12/07/2005 19:48

Well ds is sleeping for England at the moment too - lovely! Still can't get over the difference between him and dd - I just plonk him in his cot and he goes off to sleep. Sometimes find him asleep under his baby gymn. Marvellous.

He's just learnt to roll over but he can't get the underneath arm free so then he gets cross. And when he's on his front he can't really lift his head up but he seems to like chewing his playmat.

When I read what all your babies are up to, I have to keep reminding myself that technically he is about 6 weeks younger than some of yours. Not saying consonants or anything yet.

And still quite content with just milk, which is great - don't envy you the pureeing at all!

Gossifer - I found getting all the lumps out difficult when I was doing it before. You need a little hand blender (bigger blenders might not work). And a smallish pot - diameter not much bigger than the blender head. And add lots of milk or water (or water that you've cooked veg in, for a few extra vits!). Oh and cook veg, apples etc until they're pulverised.

I sat ds on my knee and read him a story this morning - he really liked it! One of those ones with photos of babies in. Must do it more...

fruitful... it sounds like your ds is certainly catching up quick though!
linus has only just started rolling over properly... also had issues with getting the underneath arm out! now he's started though there is no stopping him
