JKS - I actually think you might be right. The first time I changed when she was upset this afternoon her nappy was dry. The second time she'd doen a tiny wee. THen I put her to bed and when seh got up her nappy was pretty wet.

She did one almost whole wee on the potty and another one she just got up too soon and did it on the floor.

She gets really, really over excited and into it when I bring out the potty though and I don't want to freak her out if she's not physically ready.

Don't quite know how to judge it. She can dry for three hours and more at a time but I decided that if she couldn't pull her trousers down or say 'wee' and 'poo' then it might be a bit early.

What do you think?

Must be nice to have a mini break from the docs JKS.

JustBeBuffy · 21/10/2009 21:51

LaT - i'm not the person to ask about potty training! i have one of the slowest ever boys to train here, T still firmly in nappies (3yrs & 5months & counting...)

But if she's happy to do it then go with the flow.....

maybe use the baby sign for potty, or come up with your own sign, whatever feels natural, use it a lot in the first few days and see if she can pick up on it?

long phone call with my sister so early night shot, hey ho, another glass of wine and more MN

Gingemeeeklookatthatspider · 22/10/2009 14:48

LaT a rl friend of mine potty trained her little girl at 20 months. She is 2.4 and is dry both day and night. Its up to the child not the parents tbh but I would give it a try for a few more days if you thnk you can handle it Good luck
I took the boys to the hairdressers today. I was only going to get Edwards cut ready for his birthday but she ended up cutting Georges too . David had one a couple of weeks ago. They had gel and everything. So cute.
Mum went home this morning (sigh of relief) I shouted at her last night because I had an accident and she just shouted at me
I was in my bedroom on the phone to ds2 when David came in followed by Edward then ofcourse George. I told David to go out to which his reaction was to shout and scream I said bye to ds2 and went to pick David up to get him out turned round and fell over George I threw David into the door by accident ofcourse and tried to pick a flayling George up. Mum came rushing in shouting 'whats going on in here?'. I shouted back 'don't shout !' she was shouting at David to go to the bathroom so I shouted at her' I said don't shout, if your not going to help go away!' so she did. I cuddled George and calmed him down, put a cold flannel on Davids head and told him to stay in the bahtroom. Got Edwards and Georges drinks and dummys and put them to bed. It was 7.40 by now. Gave David some Calpol and Arnica cream on his head. Took his reading book into my room. Had a read and put him to bed.
Needless to say things were tense last night
And breathe.........

LaTruchaaaaaaaaaargh · 23/10/2009 14:02

Had a very simialr situation with my mum when Sabela was born Gingeme - except my mum stormed out without saying goodbye..... It's really rubbish. Sorry.

JKS - glad you had a good chinwag. Off to look up sign for potty.

She's still doig lots of touching her nappy and squatting. Clearly something's going on. But we're going away on Wednesday so now is really not the time to start. Sign a good idea though.

Gingemeeeklookatthatspider · 23/10/2009 23:16

Hi all

Not had a chance to catch up properly yet

Had a fab time and the weather was lovely.

Had one day of rain but we took kids to sea life place that day

M really blossomed on holiday and her talking has really come on leaps and bounds.

She says I now instead of her name iyswim. "I running" etc.

She also seems to know the days of the week and sings them in the right order all the time!!

The other good news is she has eaten a fair bit of dairy while away with no really bad reaction She was most chuffed to get her first ice cream

Off to catch the rest of the X factor and a glass of red

simpson · 25/10/2009 18:53

where is everyone??

Had pants day today

Went out for a meal and came back to water coming through front room ceiling

Called emergency plumber and he was here for 3hrs and I am now £200 worse off and problem still not fixed

I have a large hole in ceiling.

I have no water upstairs at all (taps turned off)

I have no heating

House total tip

Carpet in front room ruined

Lino in bathroom ruined.

AngeChica · 25/10/2009 19:26

Hello! I am here but going to have a really early night. That's a mare about your house Simps! We had to get a plumber once who just fannied about for 7 hours charging 50£ an hour of course.

We decamped to some friends last night because our boiler wwasn't working as well! It was a silly thing though, just needed pressurising.

I'm working this week but DH will do his usual "going caveman" at half term, unshaven and in same clothes all week. First time in 2 years he won't have loads of studying though, as he is finished his MA! He's going to IKEA to buy DS a bed tomorrow. Poor thing fills his cot end to end .

Amazing M's speech. A still barely says any words.

LaTruchaaaaaaaaaargh · 25/10/2009 19:42

Oh Simpson! That's awful. I'm really sorry.

Hi Ange at bed! I hope it's not as long as Sabela's

simpson · 25/10/2009 20:09

am having a glass of wine now if anyone feels like joining me

Another rant sorry

H said he would call kids tonight and suprise suprise no call

He has not spoken to J since he went home after visiting for his birthday which was 2nd sept

Luckily I have learnt nor to tell J that he is calling (or not) so J is not disappointed iyswim.

JustBeBuffy · 25/10/2009 20:12

Simps - nightmare. Will the house insurance cover it??
still major stress though.

Ange - A is a big lad hope your dh enjoys half term.

LaT - how's S doing?

um, not much going on with us really, a quiet weekend. had a bonfire night + sparklers at T's pre-sch round the corner earlier which was lots of fun.

Waiting to see what time T will wake up tomorrow....

AngeChica · 25/10/2009 20:16

madmouse · 25/10/2009 22:00

If any of you who don't know yet have wondered what is wrong with me well here

I have namechanged for it but this group is not widey read and I am not that bothered - just think may get some wacky responses.

Just need to know now if there is anyone else out there too.

No experience here madmouse so I won't post on your other thread but we are all here when you need us.
Had goos weekend here. Edwards 3 rd birthday on Saturday. He had his party at our local soft play place. All but 2 of his friends came and he got some great birthday gifts
Yesterday I ook ds1,ds2 and ds3 to the cinema to watch 'Up'. The boys enjoyed it. I thought it was so so.
Took David for his swimming lesson this morning and filled the freezer from Ice Land this afternoon

Right quick cuppa before I put the washing away. X

MrsMcJnr · 26/10/2009 21:11

So here I am! How are you all? Today has been such a hard day, the kids and I have got used to having lots of people around and Mummy alone just didn?t seem to cut it with DS today and he was so naughty, I felt like I spent the whole day yelling at him. How do you manage to keep your cool? I find myself getting so cross that I grit my teeth and get a headache. It doesn?t help that DD will scream her head of unless she is being held by me all the time. I just don?t know how I will get anything done if this continues!

simpson · 26/10/2009 21:33

Hi all

Well the saga continues

Celing not done yet but got someone coming from insurance company to photogaph it all tomorrow.

Leak still not sorted Well, not leaking but not everything back to normal iyswim. Still can't use bath so have 2 rotten children

Plumber back tomorrow

Good news is I should get most of it on insurance but may nee whole new ceiling so will decamp to my mum's if that happens.

The other news is H finally rang at 9pm last night and I had a rwal go at him ie he has nor spoken to J for 2mths etc and he promised he would call tonight and suprise suprise no call

Am seriously thinking of cancelling trip for kids to go to ireland as whats the point if he does not make effort??

Madmouse - you know where I am if you need me

Mrs Mcjnr/Nicky - it does get easier Especially eves which I always found the worst.

MrsMcJnr · 26/10/2009 22:09

Poor you Simpson we've been flooded before, water can be so destructive. Sorry to hear you and H are apart I hadn't realised that he'd gone to Ireland.

Madmouse - hugs for you, it must be horrible for you x

Hello to everyone!

simpson · 27/10/2009 10:39

Plumber back here again

At least he will be here when insurance company arrive any minute to tell them more of what has happened as the technical stuff is over my head

Texted H a rather angry text last night re not calling kids we will await a reply!!

Also texted his sister who replied this morning saying she is looking forward to seeing kids and has got loads planned for them. She will give H a talking to

Right off to do some farming

simpson · 27/10/2009 10:42

Forgot to say M made me LOL this morning as she said "Uh oh bib on fruitpot"

Some how I think she meant it the other way round

M's physio session which is supposed to be on thursday has been cancelled and we now have to wait till middle of Nov for next one. Grrr.

Her walking is still quite bad although she has improved somewhat....

toosensitiveforrealname · 27/10/2009 12:55

Simpson I know M can be a handful but boy is she clever!

Grrr at physio though - you know I was already not impressed with how long you had to wait in the first place. My own (extensive!!) experience with paediatric physio here makes me wonder why it all has to be so difficult to get M some support

madmouse · 27/10/2009 12:57

hmm hard juggling two nicknames sorry

OP posts:
LaTruchaaaaaaaaaargh · 27/10/2009 13:44

HI all,

MrsMc - you could be me when it comes to Zavier. Everything, but everything, is a negotiation with Sabela at the moment. Today it seems that it doesn't matter how much I explain, give 5 minute warnings that things are going to happen or give downright orders, Sabela has her opwn ideas and screams.

We went to get DH's eyes tested and I had to meet him afterwards because sometimes he can't see properly due to the tests he has. The optitican is near the library - usually a favourite with Sabela. So, we go in, and knowing she hates leaving the library I tell her we're meeting DH in ten minutes because she will like that. Cue Sabela running repeatedly to the door of the library, not 'waiting' or anything I say. We leave the library, and she insists absoultely on walking down the wrong street, then refuses to walk or go in pushchair down the right street. Then will not stay in opticians as DH clearly not 'there' etc etc etc that gets us to about 10am.

I do manage to keep my patience most of the time, but if we need to go or something, I do warn, grab, stuff in pushchair and hightail it out of there before you can say, 'What a bad mummy.'

I feel I do need a few more tricks up my sleeve.

simpson · 27/10/2009 14:53

Well insurance guy has been and it looks like a major job

Carpet in front room to be replaced, new ceiling in front room, rip up floor in bathroom and replace, new bath (and hopefully loo and basin) new lino, new book case in front room.

Big massive de hiumidifiers in front room (very loud - already got head ache )and in the next day or so 3 massive fans going 24/7 to try and dry everything.

Not what I need right nmow I can tell you!!

wine already bought for tonight

LaTruchaaaaaaaaaargh · 27/10/2009 15:18

Simpson - Sorry it's all still a mess.

Can I give you a word of warning? Look out for your next electricity bill. Dehumidifiers EAT electricity. I've got one and I was totally at our bill the first time. It added £90. It's only small and we didn't use it THAT much. Could you clain it off the insurance perhaps?
