Morning all

Am off on a course at Oxford Uni for the weekend. don't need to leave until 6.10 but awake since 4.50 - bit nervous! Haven't been away from Nathan overnight since he was in SCBU and the men have not been alone for this long ever

But I am looking forward to doing something different and for me . I just hope the memorie and flashbacks stay here and don't turn up in Oxford too - but I will cope I am sure.

Hope you all have good weekends.

Ginge that must be a very comfy bed - planning to come out this weekend?

Hope the course goes well Madmouse and you can have some relaxing time just for you.

Thanks for the nap comments, problem is that he gets so tired and is impossible if he hasn't slept so he still needs it as much as I do. He goes to bed at 8pm (and wakes at 8am)

gingeme · 14/11/2009 13:37

Lol yes the bed is gorgeous and realy massive and high Its gonna take some getting used to. The poor delivery guys were realy huffing and puffing
What is the course for madmouse?
Keep up the good work Simpson
Took the boys to Clown Town this morning then popped in to Tesco to do a quick shop and George fell asleep in the trolley Didn't think he would last long.
My Mums coming for the weekend today. She is going to my aunts funeral on Monday. I can't go as DH is working. Still I wasn't at all close to her.
Well thats about it from me.
Is it bed time yet?

JustKeepSparkling · 14/11/2009 17:34

Any help/ideas with this please?

Gingeme - glad the bed is fab!
(think Mm said is was to do with old archaelogy maps...)

MrsMc - guess you'll have to keep persevering for a while yet as I did with T, was a pain though. And we kept some 'quiet time' after lunch for a while, tv etc.
Oh and yes, we were always planning more, just not yet though! Plan A was to start ttc in Jan, when H is 2, so T will be at school by the time it arrives. (though starting school doesn't appear to be a low-stress time so that may not be the best plan!)

Madmouse - hope you are having fun

Simpson - sounds like J is adjusting, feel sorry for the little ones being so tired but wanting to keep going.

Well good news here, we qualified for the high level of DLA, so i'm now doing the form for Carers Allowance

PIL here sorting food, yey, so i can MN in peace

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 12:54

JKS - sorry about the dentist business. I suppose I would be tempted to ask for an explanation, but I would also be quite likely juts to make another appointment. That doesn't really help you. What do you think will make YOU feel better about it?

Hope you've already filled in all the forms!

Madmouse - enjoy your course!

Gingeme - DH and I also have an enormous and high bed. I thought I didn't like it at first but now I love it. We need our separate space in bed and rarely meet in the night! When we were renting and had an enormous room, we actually put two double together! Ridiculous, but bliss!

Lilyloo- when does she start her elssons then?

MrsMc - I absolutely insist on a nap - especially as I need one too at the moment. She's usually really good about it but sometimes there are tears. TBH, within reason, I leave her to it.

Feeling sick and tired almost all the time but it is so totally different from last time that I do feel grateful. Very tempting to get the large packet of anti-nausea medecine left over from last time. I kept it in case of a delay in medical treatment if I got hyperemesis again but I'm wishing I threw it away now because it is very tempting. I KNOW I could throw it now

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 17:43

Can I ask, do any of you have a cleaner? I'm really not up to much and dust is beginning to gather....

simpson · 15/11/2009 17:49

LaT - I have a cleaner and think JKS has one too

Although my cleaner lives near my mums way so only comes once every 3wks or so so I have to keep on top of basics

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 17:52

Can I ask how much you pay her roughly?

simpson · 15/11/2009 18:29

I pay her £30 for 3hrs work but tbh that is very pricey and I know I could get someone cheaper but she is very good and you don't need to tell her what to do, she just gets on with it iyswim

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 18:37

I was thinking around £7.50 an hour. Do you think that's reasonable? Now I have to go about finding someone to do it. Local paper I guess.

simpson · 15/11/2009 19:19

yes average around here is £7/8 per hour. Its just I know her iyswim as she cleans my mums so can leave her in house to get on with it and go out with no worries

I would look in newsagents windows where they have ads too.

JustKeepSparkling · 15/11/2009 21:07

LaT - just checked with Dh - we pay £11/hr but they are an agency so more expensive than a single person. They guarantee to come regardless of if someone's sick, etc.
But they are worth their weight in gold

Dunno what to do about the dentist thing, everyone's saying to phone the practice manager so i may try to be brave and do that tomorrow.....

So pleased you aren't being tooo ill, keep the tablets for now, i would!

Hi everyone else, not a lot going on here, watching xfactor, etc with dh. He's got a day at home tomorrow, yey, no plan as yet.

hope everyone's doing ok

simpson · 16/11/2009 11:17

JKS - how did phone call to dentist go??

Have had slight falling out with house insurance company this morning

Basically I am going to get a new carpet for front room so they send someone from Allied carpets to do quote etc which insurance pays out.

The good news is that I don't have to necessarily go for same colour as existing carpet (which shows up every stain going ) but the bad news is its up to me get get furniture out of front room while work going on

Yes right, like that is going to happen!!!

Am arguing that they pay Allied a bit extra to do it but its not going down well

LaTrucha · 16/11/2009 13:01

Simpson. You really wonder if it's worth their while not to provide a good service, don't you?

JKS - did you do it?

Just had the most pointless appointment with my GP to confirm pregnancy. It wasn't my usual doctor. She wouldn't do a pregnancy test as she sadi the ones at home were just as good. It took her ten minutes to work out with her little wheel thing when the due date was (which I knew). She entered the details of Sabela's birth onto the computer wrongly - they are already there correctly. She couldn't tell me anything about when a scan might be, when the midwife might be in touch or anything abou the swineflu jab. Totally useless. I may aswell have stayed at home. Her advice on morning sickness was a joke. grrrrrrr.

Oh well, should've spent the time on MN. I'd be much better informed by now. My friend tells me there are LOADS of pg women in Aber ATM and the midwives are frantic so I'm not hoping for an early scan.

Oh, and when she asked how old Sabela was, she said, 'Oh, you weer in a hurry. It will be a big shock for her.' x 1 million.

Lilyloo · 16/11/2009 13:09

Afternoon all , this chat about cleaners is making me
I am half way through cleaning downstairs have been doing it since i dropped the kids at school Am very bored now so skiving on here for a bit.

gingeme · 16/11/2009 14:14

A cleaner how I wish
LaT argh at your gp I hope you poked her in the eye!!
Simpson just thing how lovely your new carpet is going to be and just float away for a while with that clean fresh smell of brand new carpet.....ah thats better
JKS any luck with the dentist manager?
We had a very busy weekend. Took the boys to Clown Town Saturday morning then a quick whizz round Tesco then to my friends house who is moving to Aussie tomm sos the boys were totaly knackered. Yesterday my Dad took us, and Mum, to the Hendon RAF museum which they love. We have been quite a few times and theres a hands on bit for kids which they also love. Then popped to my Dads for a cup of tea then my Mum treated us all to dinner at our local Harvester
Also on a plus note Edward has had a dry nappy the past 3 mornings so he is currently having his nap with no nappy and the waterproof protector on his mattress. Fingers crossed everyone

madmouse · 16/11/2009 16:32

Hi all

No cleaner here - we used to have one before dh became a vicar and when I still worked ft. Housework now gets done randomly when I have a bit of energy. The house is not in too bad a state atm - just done bathroom and en suite (to guest room) today.

Yes course was on maps for archeologists - on how to interpret the landscape from old and new maps to see how history has developed.

Was nice to be away and the course was very interesting. Although flashbacks and memories did come with me and jumped on me in moments I got too tired to follow course - but overall it went well. Bit of a sad day today - well I guess it is 2 steps forward one back.

LaT I think all GPs are like that - you may as well go straight to mw. Although in your case you would expect them to be a bit more switched on with sickness.

Lily hope your cleaning is done.

Ginge you must be sad to lose your friend to Aussie. But I have maintained my two closest Dutch friendships for nearly 11 years now - of course they are a lot closer but most of the contact is via email and phone. Do you Skype? If not look into it pronto!!

madmouse · 16/11/2009 17:33

simpson · 16/11/2009 17:37

huge congrats Filly

Well I don't know what to do with myself...

Both Dcs are in bed already

[shock

Hope I don't live to regret this decision when they want to start the day at 5am

fillybuster · 16/11/2009 17:40

Thanks Madmouse!

By the way, Tamara is still not walking. We're getting there...just very very slowly....I spend a lot of time getting quite at people's comments when they find out she's 22 months and still not walking...

fillybuster · 16/11/2009 17:41

x-post Simpson! In bed at 5.40???? Have a bath then settle down in front of the telly, of course!

JustKeepSparkling · 16/11/2009 17:45

Hey Filly, congratulations!!!

Simps - hope they aren't up toooo early tomorrow. Nice long evening for you though

Did brave the dentist, but the manager isn't in on a Mon. So i left my name and said i would ring back tomorrow....so let's see.

Had a nice afternoon out with T & DH (he was working from home this morning) while nanny H-sat
tired now though, energy levels are still very low.

Looking forward to bedtime....

simpson · 16/11/2009 17:45

Filly - I can't beleive they are in bed already either

School seems to tire DS out soooo much and M has not had daytime nap for ages.

Has your DS started school??

M's walking is not fab, she fell in park the other wk and split head open

She is hyper mobile in hips/knees and has physio every 10wks.

Got session tomorrow actually...

LaTrucha · 16/11/2009 19:10

Simpson - Do they do that often? Do you know what you have in store tomorrow morning?

Madmouse - Course sounds interesting. Sorry you felt sad though. MAybe a bit of time away meant some 'processing' time? How did NAthan handle it? And DH?

JKS - Early bed tonight! Don't you dare stay up MNing.

Gingeme - what busy boys you have. I always admire how much you do with them.

Filly - Welcome back and congratulations! I don't qualify for the June 2010 thread - I'm due on July 2nd. Be nice though. I haven't joined the July one yet. I don't always keep up with this one! about comments on Tamara. People really should know better.
