I've bought the oddsocks bubblegum tights - don't tell dh!

moosemama · 02/10/2009 18:45

I have started a thread here any thoughts gratefully received.

furrymonster · 02/10/2009 20:38

Howdy doody ladies, I'm back did you miss me?

absolutely no good reason for not being on here for soooooooo long. No hope what so ever of catching up fully so may I be cheeky and request a brief synopsis please?

Hope you are all well and happy and there have been no massive traumas.

All ok here. I'm going back to work on the 12th due to total lack of funds, only 12 hours so not too bad. Just a sod that DH's work has decided to pick up now!

DD is happy when not teething. Rolling, standing leaning on stuff, chattering away and desperate to crawl!

I'm generally happy when not hormonal wreck. Started cerazette mini pill so am hoping that will help. If it doesn't then the iud it will be!

Best news is that i have been asked to go and train as a breastfeeding peer support worker. It'd be voluntary at first but may lead to a job in the future. Am so excited . It was my baby massage instructor that asked me and I'm really flattered. It'l take a while to set up because of crb checks (which take 3 months!) and some other stuff, but that suits me fine as I need to get back in the swing of working before doing anything new. I'll probably only do 1 morning a week so I'm not away from home too much.

MIL and FIL still looking to move to our part of the country, actually looked at a house on our road but didn't like it. I'm quite glad though as I do think that is a little close!

My cat is getting fatter and fatter even though I am dieting him.

PatTheHammer · 02/10/2009 20:38

Hey everyone,

Sorry for being cryptic last night, but legally we were not allowed to comment on the whole situation till it had been resolved, which I am pleased to say it has now!

Basically I got a call from a colleague last night with some bad news. The school had been judged as 'good' or 'outstanding' on all categories of teaching, learning, management etc and the report was glowing on the lessons they saw and the pupil behaviour/extra-curricular etc. however, they could not tick one box because of a clerical level the LEA had made which meant that although all new staff had been cleared by the CRB the school wasn't in possession of the actual disclosure forms (county educational service had them as it was their policy to ony send to school when they were all complete). As a result the lead inspector was in the ludicrous position that he had to fail the school and judge it as inadequate!!.

As you can imagine, the shit hit the fan yesterday and today and it was taken to the very top. We were the first school to be inspected in our LEA this academic year so were basically the fall-guys. Anyway the local MP and education secretary put pressure on OFSTED to reverse the decision which they have done tonight

Absolute lunacy, bureaocracy gone mad!!! The whole thing was down to the county council who have now promptly changed their policy and will release all forms as soon as they have them (BTW they do inform the school of any issues i.e if someone doesn't pass, BEFORE the start of the academic year so no childs saftey is compromised).

Everyone was depressed as hell today as they had worked so hard and felt so cheated. but let the good times roll!!..........

Big waves to all, glad people feeling better.

Dog- urrah for washing machine and I am sure you are very glam Have a great night.

Have a great wedding MissJ, nails sound lovely.

tea- love to your new niece, hope they come up with a name soon.

In Mr.Z news, he can now scale the stairs in about 30 seconds flat, what an absolute monster he is. He 'walks' between me and darren (well about one step, any more and is flat on his face) he regularly stands without holding on for about a minute and says 'mama', 'dada', 'heya' and something unintelligable but recognisable for Evie. Oh, and he has had the foulest nappies from hell this week so moose, I wholly sympathise!

right, off to enjoy my wine and become reaquainted with my family. Sort of forgotten what they look like this week!

PatTheHammer · 02/10/2009 20:40

ooops, forgot to put DH and DD there. Must be pissed already!

Hey, furry, good to see you. no round-up from me as have been largely absent I'm afraid. Someone will be along in a mo no doubt!

furrymonster · 02/10/2009 20:56

Hia pat, that sounds horrendous. I'm glad it is all sorted now. Its insane!

Z sounds like a real handful, I keep wanting DD to crawl ect, then thinking I'm probably best off with her just wriggling. He sounds really advanced.

moosemama · 02/10/2009 21:24

Hi Furry welcome back! I'm not very good at round-ups I'm afraid, far too forgetful. Good on you for becoming a bf support worker!

Pat what a complete nightmare, glad it all got sorted out it the end. I can only imagine the atmosphere at school today until they reversed the decision.

Dd's nappies are back to normal for now, so will leave it a couple of days and try her with a bit of yoghurt again just to be sure. Its such a relief after days of dirty nappy after dirty nappy and all of them really yukky.

Current vocabulary consists of 'dada', 'yeah, yeah, yeah', 'ed' (ds2's name) and 'bebe' - oh and 'ooooooo!' whenever she spots one of the dogs!

furrymonster · 02/10/2009 21:27

LOL! thats so cute

no round-up, you just can't get the service round here!!!

furrymonster · 02/10/2009 21:50

Oh God! just had an ebay accident. Bought some really cute pink camo print pram shoes and a karrimore rucksack baby carrier that we may or may not actually need.

In my defense, the shoes are SO cute. And the carrier was under a tenner.

Have signed out. Probably for the best. ooops.

sorry, didn't mean to repeat myself. dodgy computer moment.

moosemama · 02/10/2009 21:58

Ah Furry a girl can't have too many shoes! Karrimore carriers are the best. We have one of their frame carriers with a mini rucksack attached to the back. Carried the boys in it until they were 4 years old and used it for dd this summer. You are bound to get some use out of it and it was a bargain for under a tenner I reckon.

elkiedee · 03/10/2009 00:02

Hi all

Laughing at those of you drooling over the campervan print clothes.

Health visitor came today, with one of her colleagues - seemed to go ok, Conor's now 8.6 kg (18+ lb) - I thought he'd grown more than that but it must just be his height - he's still above the 25th centile so on the light side but I'm sure he's fine and the HVs didn't suggest they had any concerns otherwise. We had a rather strange discussion about the assessment issue but I will just see if it's pursued further... am hoping everyone will leave us alone now really.

I have some mad animal print Blueberry Minki nappies being sent out today - they were part paid for by a Real Nappies for London voucher which was lost in the post but RNFL have liaised with the company to sort things out and I've paid the balance online by credit card now. If I get 3 more pocket nappies, I'll have 10 and will be able to use pocket nappies much more of the time - will probably just choose between onesize BumGenius and medium Ittis because I know what both of those are like now. I blame the cloth nappy obsessives on this thread!

tinkisautumnal · 03/10/2009 09:03

Sorry you have had to cancel your night out Dog, hope you feel better soon. We are still plague ridden here as well. Well actually its me, dh and dd, they boys are in fine fettle and driving us slowly up the wall.

Dh and I have been curled up on the sofa with dd googling ideas for our vow renewal. Its not going to be for quite a long time but we would like to have a rough idea of what we want so we can organise it slowly and take advantage of buying/booking things as and when we see them.

Looks like its not going to be a handfasting now, as all the ones we've seen online seem either quite contrived/theatrical if not religious or very ceremonial if pagan, neither of which sit well with us. We are still thinking along the lines of either buying our own woodland or hiring a whole yurt/teepee campsite for a weekend and making it a celebration of our family rather than just dh and I and inviting all our friends and family to come along and celebrate with us.

Its been nice to spend some time together for a change, its usually one or other of us on the computer and the other one looking after the dc's.

Random moment, I reeeeeally want to learn to crochet. I have wanted to do it for years, but when my Mum tried to teach me I just got cross that I couldn't get to grips with it quickly, then she got cross with me and we both gave up. Thing is I keep seeing lovely things for myself, dd and the house that are crocheted and thinking, "I'm sure I could make that myself". I was thinking if I could learn well enough I could perhaps sell a few bits, on misi, etsy, not-on-the-highstreet and ebay and bring in a few squiddlies to add to the pot. Anyone know of any good books I could try using to teach myself?
