Hey all. Sorry Mon and Tues are work days for me and mental so can't really get on but I am here now. Sounds like its illness central on here, hope you all feel better soon. Guess it's the back to school stuff. I have a cold but nothing too serious. Def swear by Berocca keeping the immune system up. Ds' have been snotty for weeks but just snot and no temp. The lovely bright green stuff though and I seem to have snail trails all over me and have to wipe myself down in the car before work.
Can't believe you are looking forward to clock change. I love winter and its my favourite time of the year as it's so snuggy, and don't get me started on Christmas or I might burst with excitement. But S only just sleeping to a reasonable hour of 5/6am and the thought of that being 4am I am argh!!! Don't remember having any problems with ds1 but it is S nature to find trouble and be difficult. He is covered in bruises and has a fat lip as al he wants to do is cruise and walk holding hands. He terrorised all the toddlers at playgroup today by pulling all the toys off the table.

Tink I have alwasy suffered from IBS and so I know what you are going through. Did you know codiene is what the doc prescribes for when you have a bad attack? I find if I get hot and flustered it makes it worse too so windows open in car and try and relax. Prob easier said than done. I have my first pre school runs with both on thurs and fri and I am dreading it. Both drop off and pick up are when S should be asleep and not sure if he will settle in the pushchair.
Dog good luck with your appointment for A.
Lenni thanks for the link off to eye up tickets. LOL at qumps/gumps banter.

Got to take both boys to Tesco this avo, wish me luck. Only ever done it once!

missjackson · 30/09/2009 15:49

Thanks for buggy link dog - and sounds like you got a great price Lenni - seems like it is the accessories that mount up so am looking for one with raincover and uv cover as basics. DH nearly had a heart attack when I said I was looking for new buggy as we have a crappy old urban detour (mothercare I think?) that has been fine but it's just heavy and cranky and I don't like it anymore. Someone gave it to us and it has been great. But he doesn't see why we would replace it, especially with something so similar.

Sorry to hear about school run anxiety tink - long way off for me, but I am sure it is a generally stressful time with everyone trying to get their LOs off - gumps I am sure once S gets used to the pushchair then he will sleep like a trouper.

Hope you are all having nice wednesdays...Nye and I just went out for lunch with 2 other mummies and babies, 2 girls 10 weeks older than N, and it was just lovely. We sat outside in the blazing sunshine (last day of Sept!) and the babes crawled around, and we worked our way thru the 3 course set menu. Now I am stuffed, but have invited my Mum and partner over for roast chicken tonight... so had better do some good things like hoovering and peeling potatoes.

Hope to catch up later x

tinksbiggirlhasstartedschool · 30/09/2009 16:25

i hve ibs 2 i am on mebeverine and take fybogel. wondering if runs are hormone related instead.

moosemama · 30/09/2009 17:47

Evening all,

Having a mare with dd, she keeps being too distracted to feed. Its a nightmare, she keeps coming off and turning her head (or not coming off and turning her head - ouchy!) then if I give up and put myself back together she screams until I offer her the breast again!

In every other way she is a delight, clambering all over the room, investigating everything, climbing up the sofa or her brothers legs and grinning with pride at herself. We are having lots of fun and giggles, she is just a nightmare to bf and I'm starting to get really fed up with it.

I really want to try and bf until she is one but its not looking likely at the moment. I am a bit concerned she might be slightly intolerant to dairy though so don't really want to go the formula route. She had reflux for a while but seemed to grow out of it and excluding dairy from my diet didn't make any difference. Since weaning though, if she has a yoghurt or a small amount of cheese, she has really disgusting sort of jelly consistency, vinegary smelling nappies that seem to occur almost as soon as the dairy hits her tum. She hasn't really had much dairy as we don't tend to give her cheese and her porridge is made with water and then has bm added, but I have tried her on yeo valley organic baby yoghurt and rachels organic baby yoghurt and they both had the same effect on her, so we are steering clear of dairy for now, although this isn't easy with us all being veggie.

I thought it was supposed to get easier at this stage, not harder!

Tink my dh suffers really badly with ibs and he is on mebeverine as well, he used to take buscopan but the GP said its not recommended long-term.

PatTheHammer · 30/09/2009 19:06

OFSTED have left the building (as far as I'm concerned as I'm off tomorrow).

Be back later on, missed you all and hope all ok.

Dog, everyone ok at yours?? DH off yesterday with the sickness we all had at the weekend, he is on the mend now.

On the plus side, with all the stress, sickness etc I am proud to announce that I have now lost 16lbs and fit into at least one pair of work trousers....hurrah!

Well done on losing 16lbs Pat - really amazing, am but really pleased for you.

All hell broken loose here now - can't wait for next week and 'normality' if only I knew what that was - tbh I'd be bored but I can dream eh!

Moose Same here with DS and bf. He's been fab the last couple of days, but today he has only managed one daytime feed as too distracted. I offered him a bottle at about 3pm as couldn't feed him (was in a meeting - with a baby ) and he wasn't interested in that either so looks like he's just adapting his needs.

evening ladies
dog why not ask? he can only say no.
missj your lunch sounds wonderful and yes, the weather is lovely isnt it?
moose hats off to you for bfing for this long. i stopped about 2 months ago!

ladies, i went and got a copper coil fitted today. i took painkillers (strong ones!) and it wasnt too bad

so after making dinner, helping DS with homework all that, i was really looking forward to an early night cos i am tired! of course, kids make life interesting! LO decided to puke up most of his feed. so that meant another hour before he was down. ah well, such is the life !
LO has no tooth coming through as yet. he is crawling quite well now tho. looks like we need to get a gate so i can keep him in his room while i do chores, etc.

any of you have to do this? which gate is good?
ds1 is now 5 so it was awhile back when we had a gate!

pat - delighted to hear that the stasi ofsted are done with you. 16lbs! 16oz would be a fine thing here...

tea, if you're going to have a shopping accident, no point in doing by halves, eh?

ouch, moosemama - hope she regains her focus soon. lenni, hope bf settling back down - seems to me that c is adjusting her eating and sleeping schedule a bit at the moment so maybe it's an age thing

tink, sorry about digestive upset, hope it's sorted now

Gumps · 30/09/2009 22:38

Pat thats briliant on both accounts - well done you. Want a fanfare emoction but not one so a for you instead.
Dog that is so funny, but prob not at 4am. And there was you saying you would never complain about him talking..... Hoping that it is the walking wearing S out and a sign of things to come.
Tea love a shopping accident and dress is very cute. Got a bit cnfused as before I opened the link I thought the shoes were to go with it, clearly not
Heron not sure what its called but we have those gates that open and shut like a roller blind. Its brilliant as we have it accross the hallway so can access the bedrooms and the bathrooms but it blocks off the 2 flights of stairs. Have a normal mothercare one at the bottom of the stairs which we leave open and it sits against the wall iyswim. The rollerblind ones are more expensive and I had to fight dh to get it but a normal one where it is would have been a nightmare. Think kiddicare is the best place to look at them all and the cheapest probably too.
Moose that does not sound like fun. From experience the vinegar smell is definitely linked to reflux so it sounds like you are best to stay clear of the dairy. I know you can get soya in the supermarket but if you get on prescription its free. We have had neocate which is £38 a tin on prescription so we have saved a fortune. Why don't you try rubbing some dairy into her arm and see what happens. I was advised this from the dietician and am going to do it with egg next week. Wheat is going well here second time round. Only toast and a little weetabix so far but going to try pasta tomorrow. It's making life easier already though and fingers crossed by the time he is one he will be able to have dairy too. The dietician advised in this order and a month apart; wheat, egg, soya, dairy. Sorry I am waffling a bit but hey possibly better than tumbleweed!

Gumps · 30/09/2009 22:50

Oh god it really is tumbleweed on here.....

[sad

elkiedee · 30/09/2009 23:06

Dog, hope the rich uncle can help you.

Timefortea, hope you enjoy the results of all those shopping accidents.

Sorry for those dealing with the stress of food allergies.

I'm feeling a bit stressed at the moment. After months of not hearing anything and thinking I'd been left to get on with things - and being quite happy about it! - my GP started bugging me to come in for an appoinmtent and has referred me for a psychological assessment, something apparently suggested by health care professionals a few months ago. I said no then, I'm sure, and I should have said no on Monday again. I'm really furious that they're suddenly bringing this up again at the end of my maternity leave. I don't want to be spending time on this.

I talked to the groups worker at my local children's centre this afternoon about it all who was extremely sympathetic. The health visitor is coming on Friday though and the GP is threatening to come along too. Cross your fingers for me that I can get them all off my back.

newspaperdelivery · 30/09/2009 23:55

Hi all.

Am sorry am absent thread member at mo. It's just a bit bonkers here. Had parents eve on Tues. Am planning party, Christening planning, also weaning off boob and onto food and formula properly, chasing GP's and HV's and Dieticians trying to track down a prescription formula that wont make her constipated [now on 3rd attempt - Cow and Gate pepti jnr], and all whith the chance I will have no car next week. That means everything has to be sorted this week, and I get to walk 10 miles a day next week doing school runs. Erm........hmmm.

Sorry to read about this business with the health proffs Elk. I can imagine how you feel. Maybe they will do the visit and bug off?
Interesting what you say about the food Gumps. H is really constipated at the mo - probably becasue of the formula not beign hydolized enough, so I am replacing her milk feeds with water till she rights. The dietician says ok, as she is quite unsettled. I might adopt your approach - I have given a little gluten. But with the formula being introduced as well it's hard to know whats causing what. Argh!

Good luck with it though.

We had vinegar poo Moose. Her nappies smelt of fish and chips, sort of starchy yeasty mixed with vinegar.
I really want to read the thread but my eyes are so heavy. So have done one page and will try really hard to be back asap.

I will be back properly when rl settles down.

Hi

Got the whole crew off sick today - aaargh! Boys are under blankets on the sofa, dh is in bed and dd is wandering around wiping snot on everything and everyone she can reach - lovely!

Really not sure what to make of this dairy thing, just realised we have been making her porridge with cows milk and she doesn't seem to have reacted to that, it just seems to be the yoghurts. Alternatively, I could just be overthinking it and its all just part of the virus.

Been online having the odd shopping accident - all clothes for dd. She is still well in her 3-6 months at the moment, but am trying to be organised and get in her 6-9 month wardrobe so that I don't end up panic buying later. Have also started buying the odd bit for christmas as we really can't afford to do it all in one go this year.

I am absolutely loving the trumpette tights with one stripey leg and one spotty leg at the moment, but haven't managed to justify the cost to myself.

We have no trip wooden baby gates like these BabyDan ones, but bought ours years ago and they were Mothercare's own brand I think.

News sorry to hear H is suffering. Hope you manage to get her sorted out soon.

Elkie sorry to hear of GP problems. Remember it is ultimately up to you, you don't have to agree to anything you don't want to. Are you feeling any better? If so they may well just hold the meeting to reassess the situation then book another appointment as a follow up in a few months time.

Tink hope you enjoyed the harvest festival. I love ours, especially all the littlies singing their hearts out, but it looks like this will be the first year I will miss it since ds1 started school, as it is tomorrow and we are the house of plague at the moment!

Dog no harm in asking your uncle, if you are sure you know how to 'handle' him. He can always say no if he wants to, but would be fantastic for you if he said yes.

Right Mummy's kitchen has just taken an order for two bowls of tomato soup with buttered bread, so I'd better get of my keister.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 01/10/2009 16:31

I'm also sorry for being absent. We open tomorrow, and then normal life resumes. I haven't read back but will do tonight. Miss you all.

tinksbiggirlhasstartedschool · 01/10/2009 17:58

oh no mm hope everyone gets well soon

moosemama · 01/10/2009 18:20

Thanks Tink so do I!
