fab news Inzi, really pleased for you both. You sound a little like DH and I 'Shall we have another baby? Oh look -we're pregnant!!'

I am sooo on the pill now!
xxxx

strawberrylace · 23/12/2009 11:38

congratulstions Inzi! A nice thing in amongst the sadness with your grandad

LLL - sorry that your cold is bad again

Shivers to everyone who is cold, frosty, snowy etc. The main roads here are ok, the side roads and pavements are lethal! Not complaining though (I know how hard the council gritting teams work) - i'm just glad of the excuse to stay inside. Though cold weather does make me just want to eat chocolate and biscuits (preferably the two together...)

FloriaTosca · 23/12/2009 19:32

Oh Inzi what fabulous news![fgri I'm so happy for you and glad you are going to tell your Grandad, I hope he is lucid enough to be truly thrilled at such a wonderful Christmas present(the pain relief can sometimes make them a bit hazy I know).

LLL ; so sorry you are so sick. I hope the next 24-36 hours turn the corner and you are ok for the "big" day.

Muppet; The Hampton Court trip sounds fab. lol at Hen pointing out what he does not like

Alice; Hope you are all recovered from the bump and have your eye on a replacement motor.

WWAJC;Glad you have the turkey sorted

Latest escapade from his lordship was yesterday while I was vaccing the dogs' utility room Alex let himself out of the living room (I hadnt locked the baby gate [cross at self emoticon] gone into the kitchen, pushed a dining chair the length of the room, climbed up on it and when I spotted him was pushing buttons on the microwave oven (right at the back in the corner of the surface)...he turned to me with a grin and said "cooking!"..."oh yes?" says I lifting him down "what are you cooking?"..."Daddys torch!" says he !!! Oh yes, he had indeed lifted Dhs torch off its hook 5ft up at one end of the kitchen and put it in the microwave at the other end and only by a miracle hadn't pushed the start button

CONGRATULATIONS INZI!!!!!

What brilliant news! hope you get to share it with your grandad...

Floria pmsl at Alex cooking daddy's torch!!! Boys are very interested in our microwave too - thankfully it has a childlock on it but we never remember to use it - best get remembering!

Feeling a bit better today (can't remember if I said yesterday that I was off with a shitty cold) so after a morning in bed felt well enough to wrap some presents and do some packing. Thanks goodness I did as it took ages! Not much left to do...

Hope I will make it on here before / on christmas day but in case not (will be travelling to pils tomorrow for christmas) Happy Christmas everyone!!!!

NeedCoffee · 23/12/2009 20:38

Inzi. Congratulations!!!
Ft-ooops at themicrowave incident, that boy is wayyyy too advanced!

Hope everyone who's ill gets better asap.
Hopefully will be on before the big day, but got loads to do so may not. SIL has asked me to go to her house to ferry her 100 yards down the road to the midwife tomorrow as she is worried she may slip in the snow. It will be very inconvenient as I'm waiting for DD1s part of her present to come
Anyway, love to all xx

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 23/12/2009 20:46

Inzi - congratulations!!! That's fantastic news - I am so pleased for you.

Muppet - and at your dh not doing the online order properly - good job you found out and didn't wait. Hope you got your shopping done.

FT - and to you too at Alex cooking dh's torch. That could have been sooooo messy.

Alice/LLL - hope you both feeling better before Christmas Day.

We took Anya on the Santa Special steam train today, which was lovely - Father Christmas (of course) and a brass band and carols, all staffed by volunteers who were clearly loving it and were so helpful. Can't believe it's Christmas Eve tomorrow - I don't know if I'll get on now before the big day - happy Christmas to you all if not - I hope all of you and your families have a wonderful, relaxing few days full of laughter. xx

IllHaveABABYBLUEChristmas · 24/12/2009 03:54

Inzi - Congratulations!! so very happy for you! I hope your grandad will be able to comprehend what you are telling him... that will be so nice for him! My DH and I are also the same as you... very fertile. He will be going for the snip very soon since 4 DCs are more than enough!!

Floria - thank you for the good laugh re: cooking dads' torch!! My Sofia pushes the chair around the kitchen as well... but mostly to steal food!! She hasn't found any interest in our microwave unless her milk cup is in it!! I need to get locks for all my cupboards and fridge, since this child is constantly in them!

Snow - I am from Toronto, so we are used to all the snow, and driving in it. This is my first year driving an SUV, so it should handle a lot better than the little sports car I used to have.

Just making this a quick post, as it is getting late and I still have some cooking to do for tomorrow.

In case I dont make it on tomorrow... I hope you and your families all have a safe and wonderful Christmas!

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 24/12/2009 12:24

There's a full large punnet of blueberries in a plastic tub in the fridge, which Anya brings me along with her bowl. I tip some out and put the rest back in the fridge. A little while later I notice Anya still eating yet the number of blueberries in her bowl hasn't diminished. I check the fridge to see whether she's pinched another helping - the plastic tub, still nearly full, is missing. "Anya, where are the blueberries?" She points to the bowl. "Anya, where are the rest of the blueberries?" She looks at me. "Anya, where is the plastic box that the blueberries were in?" She takes my hand, leads me to the kitchen, opens the bin and points to the empty tub.

At least she tidies up after herself.

LisaLessLumpy · 24/12/2009 13:36

LOL @ Anya and Alex's antics, bless them WWAJC at least she eats fruit, Ben will not touch it unless its as a drink

The other morning I had done Ben some toast which he ate quite happily, he then came into the lounge where I was on the laptop and said 'all gone mummy' I looked up to see his face covered in chocolate cake He had only gone and helped himself to the tub of chocolate brownies I had made the day before, must not have put the lid on properly. Its the fist time he has helped himself to something, he usually comes and asks. I stifled my laugh and told him off instead, don't want him making a habit of it

Well I am feeling better today, but now Ben is ill, he went out Xmas shopping with Sam & DH this morning, I then got a phone call from DH saying he had thrown up in the car cue another 3 throw ups since he got back, currently sitting on a load of towels on the sofa in just his nappy, looking very pale and subdued

I hope we feel better better for tomorrow and that Sam doesn't get ill too, DH has already started sniffling since getting back.

I hope everyone else who has got this blasted cold gets better soon.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

Oh Inzi! I'm crying. Your grandad is a star! I pray that you all have a lovely (if bitter sweet Christmas tomorrow) and your grandad is gently and painlessly released soon after.
My thoughts are with you and all you family. Peace and goodwill to you all.

To everyone else; Happy Christmas to you one and all!!!

Just popping in to say...

Merry Christmas everyone !

Hope you all have lovely christmas days and get nice pressies

LisaLessLumpy · 25/12/2009 21:12

Merry Christmas everyone, although I have had better, felt too rough and tired to really enjoy it, and it took Ben till late afternoon to really perk up after being ill all day and night on Xmas Eve. I saw every hour of the night last night, so am totally knackered and will be off to bed very shortly.

We were due to stay at the in-laws tonight but decided we would rather be in our own beds, especially with Ben being not quite right. Sam however decided he wanted to sleepover at his grannie and grandpas so that's where we left him. I am hoping for my first decent nights sleep in 10 days :-)

Just wanted to say that I hope everyone had a lovley day, and that I have been thinking of you Inzi xx

Also thanks to my Secret Santa for the mug and coaster, very amusing :-)

strawberrylace · 25/12/2009 21:57

hello everyone!
A bit late in the day, but Happy Christmas! Hope you've all had good days.
I have eaten too much, but it was all lovely, now back at home after a day at the PILs.
LLL - just wanted to say thanks so much for my Secret Santa present - it was a perfect choice! Just the sort of jewellery I love and I have worn it today xx

muppetgirl · 25/12/2009 22:15

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Have left dh playing guitar hero and he's getting quite competitive!
Had a lovely -started @ 6am with Tobes waking- Ollie had already been up, opened his stocking , eaten chocolate and was playing with the bits he had opened. Dad over, lovely meal and various children sleeping at various times. Fab day!

Inz- glad you got to tell your Grandad and I hope he finds peace soon x

LLL - wishing you a sleepful (not a word but ykwim!)night x

Alice -hope you got to your IL'S - if you did do you still fancy meeting up?

To everyone else I hope your not eating sensibly and enjoying some lovely family time..xxx

FloriaTosca · 25/12/2009 23:28

Merry Christmas everyone
I'm such a spoiled person, Dh has bought me a netbook!!!! (mini laptop for those like me, not in the know)
Alex got his drum kit and little snooker table and absolutely adores them (not sure I do)
Dinner was 90% fantastic but though I followed St Jamies recipie to the book the goose could have done with a bit longer in the oven (£50 not down the drain but not used wisely )
I hope you all had fabulous days, got spoiled rotten, the kids had a ball and you are all well fed and alcoholled

Hello lovely ladies and a belated Happy Christmas!

Inzi I am in tears sitting here reading your 2 lovely posts about your grandad. I know what you mean about hoping he goes soon - sometimes the anticipation especially when he is clearly struggling and not the person you remember is harder than the end. Lovely that you got to tell him about your baby though - I am sure that will have given him a lot of peace at least. Thinking of you and your family xxx

LLL glad you are better but sorry to hear Bens been ill too. Hope all better soon

WWAJC pmsl at the blueberries!

Floria sorry to hear that the goose didn't live up to expectations - we had one one year and have to say that for me it wasn't a patch on the turkey but I am a bit traditional at Christmas (if not necessarily the rest of the time!

Muppet I am still up for meeting if we can find a time that works - I will be at my parents from 27th - 2nd. Know we are plannign a2nd Christmas with them on 28th but will email you my number (sorry forgot last time!) and try to get something sorted!

Needcoffee hope your dd1 present arrived and not in the 5 mins you were being a taxi service for your sil!

Well we got to pils in one piece - it was actually pretty painless as the roads were virtually empty. I wonder if people were put off travelling? Snow here seems to be melting so hopefully won't be stuck here and be on the way to my parents tomorrow - slightly strained relationship (to say the least) between dh and his dad so keen to not be here longer than neccessary!

We had a lovely, if manic, day yesterday! Boys very excited but Adam was a little overwhelmed by all his stuff from Santa (think I went a bit over the top!)

Hope to be back on here soon - just off to mail muppet...

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 26/12/2009 21:14

LLL - at Ben helping himself to chocolate brownies - they are all getting so cheeky aren't they? Hope you are feeling better soon and that Ben is ok now.

Inzi - so glad you got to tell your grandad your news before he goes. So sorry for you and thinking of you lots hun - hope he slips away peacefully soon.

Sounds like everybody's Christmas was lovely and that the lo's all got spoiled rotten.

We went to dh's family yesterday - it was a house full and Anya had some other little girls to play with. She was still bouncing off the walls when we left at 8:30, although she lasted about 30 secs in the car before she crashed out. She's been happily playing with all her new toys today. She's also settled very happily into her new bed - she keeps having to go upstairs to check it's still there.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 26/12/2009 21:15

Nearly forgot - thank you for my secret santa - it will be lovely to put my feet up with a magazine and chocolate over the next few days!

FloriaTosca · 26/12/2009 22:54

Inzi; I'm glad the sad inevitable didnt happen on Christmas day but sorry your grandad is deteriorating so fast yet without release... however as you haven't been on today I assume you and your family are round his bed side or comforting eachother...my thoughts are with you all.(((hugs)))

We have spent a fun day sledging and snowball fighting with the nephews and then having a family gathering with Dhs aunts family. Alex passed out after the snowplay,so was on top form at the party ...only flaked out at 10.30 when we started driving home...lets hope for a decent nights sleep eh?

muppetgirl · 28/12/2009 09:49

Hi all,

Inzi - I hope it's soon for you all and then your Grandad will be at peace. xxxxx (Not meant to be heartless at all xx)

Will be back later just off to have a bracing walk with the boys to see if we can get toby to sleep alter than 4.30/5am in the morning (tred emoticon, Floria -I feel your pain!)

Henry being a dream and fantastically funny, charming and testing all at the same time and we're going to end the year with him walking, thank God, which was the main aim for us all.

Back later

babyblue4 · 28/12/2009 23:18

Inzi - so glad you got to tell your grandad the news. Your post brought tears to my eyes. Hopefully he will find peace soon.

Hope everyone had a Fab Christmas! Now its time for the New Years Resolutions to begin!! LOL. Mine will be the typical choice: to lose 20lbs. Must have gained as much with all the sensible eating I have done in the last week alone!

What will everyone be doing for NYE??

So I am starting to consider the idea of potty training Sofia. I have been putting it off with everything else going on... new baby, then baptism, then Christmas. Too much to worry about without having to chase a little fireball around with a potty! Have any of you ladies started/completed the process? With my DD1, I trained her as soon as she turned 2 because it was summer and we spent much of the time outdoors where accidents weren't as much of an issue. And with DS1 (also born in October) I waited till the summer after his 2nd birthday for the same reason. Now I'm torn. Do I wait and take advantage of the weather in summer, or do I get it over with so that I only have one DC in nappies????

So funny thing happened on Christmas. We were at my Grandmas house visiting. I was busy stuffing my face chatting with my family and Sofia was in the other room. Next thing I knew, she is screaming "cook cook" at the top of her lungs. I got there just in time to see her perched on the counter by the microwave, pushing all the buttons trying to start it. I opened it up, and inside was a bunch of my Grandmas Christmas decorations!! Weren't we just discussing cooking a torch the same way??? LOL
