Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

Blimey, what a lot to catch up on! Congrats to all those expecting and hope everyone's feeling OK ... may or may not be joining you - AF nearly a week late, but am hoping it's just a case of them not yet settling down since returning after having ds, IYSWIM!

My boss has agreed my request for part-time working, and ds has had his nursery place confirmed, so I'm going back towork in about 4 weeks! Personally, I can't wait - I miss the adult company, but am really enjoying ds so am only going to work 2 days a week.

Ds now just about has 2 teeth, and has started to crawl ... well, commando style .... backwards! Gotta start somewhere I guess! He's pretty good at sitting up though - and he has started kinda bouncing on his bum whilst gurgling - v odd but v funny!

Actually managed to go out both days over the weekend, went to a friends bday bbq on saturday, and to windsor for the day yesterday - can't remember the last weekend we managed that!

beansprout · 06/06/2005 09:59

Congratulations and welcome Rosebud! Spooky timing with hotmama!! Geogteach is very wise (sorry to hear about the allergy btw) so you are in safe hands with her.

Bit of a pants weekend. Dp away at a conference (boo). On Friday I came home to find all of ds's (only) grobab floating around in the garden. It had been drying but a massive thunderstorm put paid to to that. With only an hour until bedtime too - hurrah!
Was up at 5am yesterday (ouch) and at 6 I stubbed my toe BIG TIME. Was in pain and hobbling around all day. Eventually went to A&E (reluctantly) to be told I could wait 2 hours to have it strapped to the next toe. Er, no thanks.

Ds's skin was getting better but is now worse again so back to the dr's tomorrow for the 6th time....

M/Mog - lol at db's thought process!

piglit · 06/06/2005 10:10

Oh Beansprout - I hope your toe is better today. Remember when we were pg and used to say "put your feet up with a bar of chocolate" in response to any pg symptoms? Well, I've been adopting the chocolate approach to everything and I'm sure it would help your toe. I guess that's going to be much harder for you with Bean but give it a go if you can.

I ended up buying 3 grobags for ds - he seems to be sick on his/wee on it with alarming regularity and there's no way he'll sleep without one. The covers wouldn't last 2 minutes!

bibiboo · 06/06/2005 13:44

Congrats to all you newly pg ladies. I am in awe and of you, taking on such a mighty task, one that I am too scared to do. I thought I was pg (on conception thread) but it turned out to be a figment of my over-active, willing-it-to-happen imagination

I want it so badly, but my logical, practical mind, dh's logical, practical mind and the rather unplesant bank statements are telling us not to have another just yet. I would love it, but we can't rely on the childcare we've got now, let alone if we had two and I can't afford to go part time.

How's the toe Bean? Dh did a very similar thing yesterday, then hobbled round all day being a total man about it (moaning but not doing anything to help).

Coveredindribble - we did some days out this weekend too. Once for a jaunt round Cardiff (on a Saturday? Yes, we were feeling a bit mad) and then to the seaside int he drizzle - great. but it was nice to get out.

DD isn't crawling or rolling - she's just happy to sit and grow teeth, of which there are two to biteMummy with.

New pic on the members profil threadt btw

biglips · 06/06/2005 14:03

bean - ive always had probs with ingrowing toenails as its always come and go. then when i was pg it was fine but as soon i had baba, my ingrowing toenails (on both big toes) was hurting me and still are as very tender atm and if i put nail varnish on them it flares up (strange!)

im nnoooo waaaayyyy envy for all the preggers ( i cant imagine me being pg right now - no no no no!!!).

biglips · 06/06/2005 14:04

my cousins little DD age 1 (turned 1 2 weeks ago) and STILL not no teeth at all!!

biglips · 06/06/2005 14:05

baba been sleeping thru again (at last as i felt like a zombie!) cos ive started to give her abit more of fruits during the day plus solids and bottles

beansprout · 06/06/2005 14:35

Ah Piglit - those were the days!!
Toe is better today in that I don't now seriously think it is broken, so it looks like I will survive!

Bibi - I have been getting broody too but now isn't the time for us. Also, when I think about it, I don't actually think I could be either pregnant or deal with a new born, so, um, not sure what "broody" means in this context!!!

Just heard that a friend's house burnt down over the weekend. They lost everything.

cerys · 06/06/2005 14:53

Congratulations to all the pg ladies - I am in awe of you.
I'm not broody because I have 3 lovely children and we always wanted 3. Just feel a bit sad that DS will be my last baby. Have sold most of my maternity wear, so that's that!
Beansprout - hope the toe gets better soon. Definitely prescribe chocolate, but taken internally, not applied to the toe

hotmama1 · 06/06/2005 14:57

Hugs to Beansprout - for her poorly toe - and your poor friends - were they insured? I know sentimental possessions can't be replaced but how awful to lose everything.

Must admit Biglips, I know where you are coming from re getting preggers again so soon - hence my panic - but hey it would have been worse if I had been trying for ages.

Wow its busy round here today.
Been trying to think of useful things to say to all you pregnant ladies. Sounds mad but get out there and offer to look after all your friends kids, logic being your current little darling gets used to sharing your attention, you get some idea of what it is like dividing your attention and best of all the parents will want to return the favour thus giving you some time to rest or be with new baby.
This is great by the way having loads of the original antenatal lot posting.
Bean hope you and ds are feeling better.

florenceuk · 06/06/2005 22:34

Wow so many posts. Congrats to all the newly pregnant ones (and have to admit glad it is not me - not much chance of that however at the moment ). Hope the toe is better Beansprout? Definitely buy another gro-bag, DD has two - a 1 tog and a 2 tog.

Geogteach, good luck for tomorrow!

BTW after a very slow start, DD is now eating 3 meals a day and sucking on bread and rice crackers + soft fruits likes plums and apricots. She doesn't quite have the idea that once she's chewed down to her hand she should open it and stick what's left in her mouth - very messy but fun. She is trying to pull herself up to standing at the moment - a wee bit scary as I don't really want my baby to walk, eek!

hotmama1 · 07/06/2005 09:30

Morning girls.

DD is rocking on all 4's so I think I need to babyproof the house - sooner rather than later.

Does anyone have problems at breakfast? DD will drink her milk but just isn't bothered about solids - tried porridge, organix fruit purees and porridge and toast. I think some of the toast goes down but most of it is used as a plaything IYSWIM. DD doesn't seem particuarly hungry or bothered and quite happily scoffs her lunch and tea (though tea is a bit more hard work). I thought she would be ravenous when she wakes up but this doesn't seem to be the case. I'm not going to force - like I could! I have tried giving her solids up to an hour after her milk but still no joy. Is this just another phase?

OP posts:
piglit · 07/06/2005 09:52

Hotmama - I never give ds a bottle at the same time as his meals otherwise he wouldn't get enough milk or solids. He has 3 meals a day and also scoffs about 20 - 25 ozs of milk a day (amazingly he's only on the 25th percentile!) but I give him his milk in between his meals - for example he has his meals at 8, 12.30 and 5.30 and has milk at 5.30am, 10.30, 3.30 and 6.30. I've tried giving him milk and solids together but he'll eat one or the other but not both and he then wakes up hungry in the night. HTH.

biglips · 07/06/2005 11:17

hotmama - try and give him a piece of toast and see what happens - as mine loves her toast as its finger foods

biglips · 07/06/2005 11:19

about this percentile? what the hell it is????

im testing baba today as its high pollen today adn see if seh got any sort of hayfever allergy, even though my head is banging as need to buy more tabs from shop

biglips · 07/06/2005 11:20

pls hotmama - mine takes after her Dad as she doesnt eat and drink anything till an hour later after she woken up

hotmama1 · 07/06/2005 11:24

Thanks for your advice girls. Toast fingers are more of a winner with dd.

DD doesn't wake up until after 7a.m. so I aint going to wake her up to give her some milk way before her brekkie - do you think I am mad! I've tried to give milk first then an hour before solids and then vice versa - will drink the milk just is never bothered about the solids.

I'm not worried about dd wasting away as she is nearly on the 98th centile - going to the clinic this afternoon so I will see how she is doing. DD seems happy and round so perhaps I should stop worrying, she'll eat when she wants to right?

OP posts:
biglips · 07/06/2005 11:28

yeah thats right as i only feed baba (and had always had since she was born) when she is hungry... no point giving her milk and then solids as she may not have enough room for her solids, i be firm with mine and play aeroplane sounds, sing to her, make her laugh - any thing to get her mouth open to feed her solids!! ... seh is getting better again!! (phew) as ive been making different foods....

baba luurrvvveeee fish with carrot or peas and potato -try it

piglit · 07/06/2005 11:34

You're right hotmama - they eat when they are hungry! I don't wake ds for his 5.30 bottle - he wakes up hungry and he goes back to sleep for an hour or so afterwards. Milk has everything they need (especially the step up milk with iron) so I really wouldn't worry about it.

biglips · 07/06/2005 12:19

ive found the percentile (doh!!!) baba is dot on the 98th percentile since 09/05/05...from day one she had always been on the edge throughout pg and up to now

Bellie · 07/06/2005 21:02

Hi all, not been on for a while as dd is into everything now she is crawling - no time to sit and mumsnet like I used to when she would stay in one place and play!!! Going for 8 month check tomorrow so will find out what percentile dd is on!
hotmama - I think I may join you on the toast fingers as dd struggles with breakfast too - thought I had it sussed with weetabix but she's gone off that too

CoveredInDribble · 07/06/2005 21:29

Evening all! Turns out today that the Dribble Monster can roll from his back to his front, cos when I got him up from his naps today, both times he was on his front! After his afternoon nap he had also reversed and had got his legs stuck through the bars of his cot. Oh well! We have our 8 month check & hearing test next week, hope everything goes OK at yours Bellie!

biglips · 08/06/2005 11:07

hello everyone - do you get a call from your HV about the 8 month check?? as mine will be 9 months on 1st july

biglips · 08/06/2005 11:15

poor baba had got the runs as she is shitting every 5 mins and im giving her plenty of water. (stinky!)

gave her butternut squash for the first time (and even us too) with vegs and lamb - yum yum!! baba wasnt too keen on the butternut squash but managed to have most of it...

last nite she was throwing a small tantrum and blowing raspberries at DP, DP told her off by saying no, and she just carrying on and on, (testing DP), i couldnt help smirking as thought it was funny but she didnt see me though.... she is very good when we say "No" and she wont touch it BUT sumtimes she go too far. (eg she pulled the speaker wire off the wall!) hmm!!
