Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

Hi all, Biglips kisses to baba. xxxx
Alfie had a sore bum for almost two weeks, it was started when he had an upset tum. It was kind of like when you have a runny nose and keep wiping it and then your nose gets all red.
I ended up washing it with soap whenever he had a poop - standing him in the sink. And metanium mixed with bepanthan worked.
Hope she is feeling better soon. Of course she can run about with a bare bum now it's Summer.
Alfie has his 8 month check in August, so he will be 8 months (adjusted) by then.
He still has no teeth and not much hair - like an old man.
He is sitting well - when he fancies it (not often) but crawling really fast and standing up licking the toilet bowl. Uck! So hopefully he will pass. UNLESS they want him to be able to wave - forget about it! Or clap - no chance!

biglips · 28/07/2005 21:57

hi everyone....... baba is getting alot better, it was a bad case of nappy rash as it looks like that a hot cup of tea spilt on it and it was raw red but it came up out of the blue... plus she is teething and doing a loud trump! as she is filling her nappy up alot and its either watery or half and half but blimey it stinks!!! (so cant really take her nappy off atm!). i bought metanium and that is brillant stuff so baba is on the mend! ..and also she woken up, yet, again at5am for her bottle so poss either teething or growing spurt again !!!

hiya - been on me jollies to Paignton - it was really nice except my Gran died suddenly whilst i was away and as my dad died a few years ago she made me executor of her Will so have been busy sorting out her papers & stuff. I dont think she ever threw anything away from about 1930 onwards!

maisiemog · 29/07/2005 11:21

Hi Kath, hope you enjoyed your hols, did babymole have a nice time on the beach??
Sorry to hear about your granny, sounds like you have a lot of sorting out to do.

KathH · 29/07/2005 12:12

Masiemog - Babymole had such a lovely time he sprouted 2 top teeth while we were there!

florenceuk · 29/07/2005 20:28

Hiiii biglips I'm here! Good to hear your DD's bum is better - metanium is brilliant stuff isn't it?

Was trying to keep DS occupied during the holidays - but today he came out in spots - he has chicken pox. Now just waiting to see how long DD will take to catch it. So no outings for a while I think, maybe a bumper pack of DVDs instead! We are booked to go to Dorset next weekend, not sure whether to cancel now and see if I can get deposit back or wait and see if DD has escaped.

On better note, DD is now standing unsupported and has four top teeth threatening to poke through. Maybe this explains why she has been waking all hrs???

maisiemog · 29/07/2005 21:34

Oh no Florence, the lurgy!!
And teeth, so DD might be able to transmit the lurgy by biting people. I'm staying away!
What does 'standing unsupported' mean? That's one of those terms in development manuals that I don't quite understand.
Alfie/Pog still has no teeth, so you are all safe, he can only gum you.
He has a silly Fisherprice, pushalong hippo thing from ToysRUs - (some ToysRUs statistics: staff average age = 17, staff average expression = bored/condescending, average toy = in a box, so you can't try/see it, average distance to walk to desired toy = 15 miles around warehouse)Compiled by National Office of Statistics 2005.
And back to the story, Alfie can now do shaky steps forward holding onto the hippo - it's very funny and he screams the whole time.

biglips · 30/07/2005 10:23

kath - sorry to hear about your Gran, hope you get her things sorted out soon so you can come back on here!

babas botty is a millions times better as ive been using cotton wool and water to wipe her botty.. she had got a tummy bug atm as she is filling her nappy 7-8 times a day and it quite runny too, but today she had come out with a cold and cough - oh well it gonna be one of them days

maisie - wha flo poss meant by "standing unsupported" is that baba doesnt need to hold onto things to stand up as mine is learning to clap and also eat her biscuit whilst standing up unsupported but seh cannot walk unsupported as yet (im praying quick!)

maisiemog · 30/07/2005 14:50

Hi biglips, oh no poor baba. Mind you it's not surprising when you consider the old tat that they put in their mouths. I keep seeing Alfie chewing and have to prise his mouth open.
He conceals bits of paper in the roof of his mouth!!
So standing unsupported, does that mean the baby is sitting on the floor, in the middle of the room and stands up by him/herself and then stands there? That sounds hilarious.
What biscuits do you give baba? Are there baby biscuits??? Where have I been shopping??!

geogteach · 30/07/2005 15:46

Masie DS2 had his first malted milk biscuit this week His brother and sister certainly didn't get biscuits at this age and it is not exactly compatable with a dairy free diet but he was very impressed!
Well we're back had a great week at summer school, DS1 and DD both loved their creches and DS2 has been on loads of trips, all while DH and me sat in lectures about having a deaf child. The organisation that ran it are in favour of deaf people listening and talking and not using sign and it was amazing to see people who had started school with no speech going to university and able to speak clearly.
DS1 is still not on the move, I don't envy those of you with crawling, standing babies.
He makes up for it with eating though, I didn't even both taking the blender with me he has just being eating our food cut up (at last)
Flo The DS's got there first spots exactly 10 days after DD got her first one, which should give you some idea, come and see us if you can't stand the being stuck at home - I know how you feel!
Suppose I should think about changing my name, what do you think of sahgeogteach?

cazzybabs · 30/07/2005 21:16

Hi ladies - my periods have come back - its soo depressing. Bring on being pregegnat again - although prehaps I shall wait till after the wedding ! We have been home for a week at my parents - which was luckly I was hit low with flu things - so my parents could bbaysit while I slept on the sofa and dp was away with work. Grace has learnt soo much this week - she has learnt to wrinkle her nose while she smiles - its very cute ( i do use too many -s I am sorry!). She has leant more sounds. She can clap, wave and say uh oh. She thought my parents cat was just fantasic and follow her where ever she went - poor cat hated her. She can climb steps. She can stand unaided for a few seconds. She plays peek a boo with a cloth. She can shake and nod her head. She is also much more confident cruising around.

florenceuk · 31/07/2005 10:06

Geogteach - may take you up on the offer! DS OK just a bit whingy (not surprising). DH forgot to get the calamine cream when he went out yesterday so we dosed him up with Piriton and calpol, but he has scratched the tops off all the little lumps so far - one looks particularly horrible. Not looking forward to DD getting this! How was your DS with it?

Cazzybabs, Grace sounds very advanced! Although DD has learnt a particularly good scream when she thinks she should be up and not in her cot.

florenceuk · 31/07/2005 10:07

Ooh and standing unsupported - it just means she pulls herself up, and then she can let go for a bit before she plonks herself down.

biglips · 31/07/2005 11:24

oh well yeterday she woke up with a snotty runny nose and last nite me and DP was supposed to have a quiet nite whilst baba was in her playpen in the other room but it never happened as we had romantic meal for 3!!, baba loves the hotpot and naan bread. got out a dvd movie called "mr and mrs smith", was a good film, baba was making a loudest racket that she could do (she was making loads of rackets and screaming at the top of her voice all day yesterday), tried to put her to bed early for 5 minute peace and quiet!! but she ended up throwing up big time (she had a sick earlier on yesterday so i had to bath her), she was throwing up bile for 20 mins, if i gave her water or milk - ppppuuukkkeeeeee!, so she eventually went to sleep at 3am (DP sat up with her whilst i went to bed as i felt like shit yesterday too but today got a sore throat -
oh no!)

apart from that her botty is on the mend

biglips · 31/07/2005 11:30

baba also loves playing peek and boo game and she does it herself too - its funny esp with the blanket that she can see thru it as she is in stitched when we pinch her nose!!

maisie - ive been using no sugar rusks and also Cow & Gate biscuits for babies and toddlers, its easy to hold, got calcium, 6 flavours cereals, added vits adn minerals... baba loves them. you can get organic ones too, if you look by the babys foods shelf, the biscuits are there too and also she have Cow & gate yoghurts too "truly fruits" - its made of 100% fruits and vit C.

jbadgirl · 31/07/2005 18:21

Hi all, just been having a bit of a catch up read on all your posts as i have been soooo busy with work and no time for play!

Ds has finally got rid of his chest infection (had it since feb) but i had it for the last 2 weeks!!!! Better now tho!

Have our next app. booked with the dev consultant on the 25 th August, and hope fully she will be a little more impressed with ds as we havent seen her for 4 months!

Had an app with the orthoptist and she said he is definately aware of light and dark but would refer him to have an Electro diagnostics test where they put electrodes on the back of his head and put images into his eyes and can tell more about what/if he can see.

Still no teeth yet! Now weighs 14lb 5oz at 9 1/2 months!

cazzybabs · 31/07/2005 19:26

Oh god - sorry if my last post sounded like "proud mummy". She has also worked out how not to sleep through the night!

biglips · 31/07/2005 20:53

cazzy - we are all "proud mummy" btw as you just cant halp it though

baba is better 2day as no sick 2day so she must've of bought it all up last nite! (yuck!) but she is still filling her nappy like there is no tomorrow !

jbad - i envy people who got light babies as my back is literally crippling me atm with my big whale baba! (let me go and check whether baba is a baba and not a pink whale with a smile!!)... no we are both tall so baba will be tall.

i walked her up the stairs today to strength those thunder thighs!! (she is not fat, she is solid and strong)

biglips · 31/07/2005 20:54

jbad - i bet youre quite nervous of going to see what your baba see (as i would be! but thats me)

biglips · 31/07/2005 20:54

correction - baba can see

biglips · 31/07/2005 20:56

im knackered now as ive done a complete spring clean in my house whilst DP had the baba all day - at last done it!

maisiemog · 31/07/2005 22:39

Jbad, I'm glad to hear you're all on the mend, now you can start enjoying the weather - paddling pool anyone?
Yes hmmm! I think sahmgeotech is a little bit... It doesn't really...you know...roll off the tongue, a nice acronym or exjogteech or exjoggy (that's what we called it at school)
Like many of the babies, Alfie is sleeping terribly as well at the mo. I feel like I did when he was a newbaby, which made me think of what you said Cazzy - about a new baby.
Remember how tired you were. YAWN!!!!
Maybe all three of you could go for a nap at the same time (or that might be wishful thinking)
Biglips, one of our friends has the world's fattest baby, she is eight months old and weighs 30lbs, and she is off the chart for weight, but 50th centile for height. I think she has been eating a few too many of the biccies. Think about her mum's back!
Now I'm only giving Alfie meals, and not really giving him any snacks - when do they need snacks in between?
He's pretty active, always walking around the furniture, and very seldom sitting still - does he need extra food? I'm not keen on him wandering around with food, because he not a very efficient eater and it would end up ground into the carpet. What do you guys all do?

CoveredInDribble · 01/08/2005 13:34

Hi all! Maisiemog - we make ds sit in his highchair for meals but for his snacks (he lurves the cow&gate biscuits & organix cheesey breadsticks) he is often allowed to have them in the living room, although only if he's good and sits downa nd stay puts whilst eating - if he's bein too active, I plonk him in the highchair for a bit, both to save the carpet and cos I worry bout him choking whilst he's whizzing around! We tend to let him have a mid-morning snack if he's woken a little early (so there's a long time between breakfast and lunch) - usually just like a petit filous and some water, just to keep him going, and then mid-afternoon he has some milk and sometimes a biscuit/breadstick/another petit filous. He gets similar at nursery when I'm at work, and he seems OK with this - I don't like to give him too much inbetween meals cos I want him to eat properly at meal times IYSWIM!
