Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

I can't say I felt any nausea with the morphine, and I'd much rather be sick than have the pain of an abdominal operation.

I couldn't get out of bed for a day because of the catheter, so couldn't pick dd up anyway, but it was okay afterwards because she was only a little baby. The worst part was the day after the section when I went for a walk round the ward, I couldn't straighten up and even a short walk made me hurt, but honestly, for a major surgery, the recovery time was fabulously short! I was pottering round the house the following week, not lifting anything though and even though I had a wound infection, I didn't have any pain that normal painkillers couldn't manage.
I think the worse you think it will be, the more pain you will be in, so think positive!
When are you having the cyst blasted?

cerys · 06/07/2005 14:43

First of all, congratulations Bibi! Lovely news.

I have DS who is 8 months now, and 2 DDs who are just 5 and just 3. Not planning any more! I would love another child if money were no object etc but as it stands, 3 is plenty.

I work 3 days a week and would love to give up altogether but we did all the sums and it just wasn't possible if we wanted to pay the mortgage etc. My family and in-laws help a lot, so we are lucky.

DS is such a darling, and very laid back, thank God. His sisters love him to bits, but are either best friends or worst enemies with each other.Usually the latter at the moment. I love them all so much, but have to admit that sometimes it is really hard work. Wish I had a pound for every time someone says to me "ooh, you've got your hands full", then I'd be well on the way to affording to give up work!

DS is trying to crawl and keeps pulling himself up onto hands and knees. He dribbles a lot and has two teeth. Eats anything put in front of him at the moment (wish that would last! DD2 is so picky). He likes pulling my hair and head butting me - what is he learning in nursery?!

BibiTwo · 06/07/2005 15:09

Hair pulling is a particular favourite of my dd. Time for a cut I think. I was going to grow it again, but it's in ratty condition anyway, so off for the chop! I was thinking a la Miranda in the last series of SATC - what say you?

cerys · 06/07/2005 15:19

Sounds good Bibi. My hair was shoulder length and awful but I had it cut when DS was a couple of months old. Hairdresser was fab and asked lots of questions about my lifestyle, and now I have a style I can just leave messy, or blow dry or straighten. It's great and I wish I'd done it ages ago!
I caught sight of myself in a shop yesterday and had a shock - I saw a fat frumpy mummy in a cagoule! Well, it's a rain jacket but the general effect was not good. I do try to make a bit of an effort but I didn't like what I saw! I am really struggling with my weight at the moment - is anyone else? My stomach still looks pregnant. I guess I have no muscle tone there at all and lots of layers of fat. Very depressing! Anyone lost weight and want to tell me what they did? I did go to a slimming club for a bit but I felt silly with all the group chumminess and getting a clap for losing half a pound etc! But I do need to do something about it.

BibiTwo · 06/07/2005 15:32

I'm struggling with my weight too. I did quite well to get back down to pre-pg weight, but since Christmas my weight has slowly increased and I'm now a size 16. I was a 14 before dd, so was never a skinny minny. I have the flabby tummy too - but seen as I pregnant again, I'll worry about that in 9 months time!
For now, pass the chocolate cake!!!

Maisiemog · 06/07/2005 17:26

Bibi - I'm going in next Tuesday at 11am. DP and Pog will come in with me, so I can give him a last bf for a couple of days (roughly). It's horrible leaving him, because the longest we have been apart is so far is about four hours.
Apparently the morphine goes into the milk so I'm just going to express and chuck the milk - just to be comfortable. Mind you I don't know if I'll feel like it after surgery, but I don't need mastitus on top of everything else.
The nurse yesterday said Pog would sleep well if I bf'd because of the morphine - and I saw dp's eyes light up. I think he is a bit worried about being left alone with Pog.
He said they would be at the hospital door at 7am shouting 'Let us in!!' and 'Where's my mummy?!'.
I hope to start feeding again on Thursday, as I might just be on paracetomol and ibuprofen by then (she says hopefully).
Bean LOL about not remembering if you had morphine.
And thanks, I had forgotten about arnica, I'll get some and maybe some comfrey?
Does anyone think garlic would be good, to clean the blood?
Any other suggestions for alternative treatments?
Now I've blanked, who is having the hernia op?

Maisiemog · 06/07/2005 17:29

Cerys LOL at the headbutting, hair pulling. Ditto.
And it's always the hair right at the nape of the neck or next to the ear - the most painful.

Maisiemog · 06/07/2005 17:35

Cerys and Bibi - "frumpy mummy" - that's me. I only seem to wear baggy t shirts or giant breastfeeding clothes most of the time. Wah!
And I'm sure people are thinking, 'oh she's having another baby' .
Yesterday I was weighed (fully clothed and shoes on) and I weighed 11 stone 6 oz. Hopefully some of that is the fibroid???
My tummy is still squishy and poking out as well.Wah!
Mind you, I bet you have amazing muscles from lifting the babes. My biceps are astonishing.
DP showed me a good tummy exercise.
It's really simple and doesn't take long - I'll see if I can find a link to it anywhere.

michmash · 06/07/2005 18:03

I haven't posted for absolute ages but have spent the last couple of days catching up on MN news and once again find myself completely addicted .

Big congrats bibi on the pg, hope you continue to feel well.

My re-cap is I'm 39 with one DS born 25 Oct who is crawling and pulling himself up, no teeth yet but lots and lots of drooling. He's been an angel baby, no probs with sleeping or eating but I suspect is going to be a champion tantrum thrower of a toddler. Like his parents will eat anything and I pray that this lasts but know that there are some serious veggie battles ahead.

geogteach · 06/07/2005 19:19

Me next.

DS2 is my 3rd child, DS1 is 4 (and is deaf), DD is 2. DS2 is fairly chilled, has a cows milk intolerence but will eat anything, manages 5 meals a day when he goes to nursery (my kids don't seem to get that nursery food is supposed to be instead off not as well as what they would normally have at home)! He has 7 teeth and doesn't move a the moment but has taken to launching himself forward and licking the carpet so maybe this is it?!

I am currently working my notice and will be a sahm in 2 and a bit weeks time (does that mean I need to change my name?)

Good luck / congratulations to anyone involved in weddings, I went to a fortieth party a couple of weeks ago which was all a put up job, the people involved had actually got married that day without telling anyone and it was they're reception! I on the otherhand will have been married 10 years at the end of the month

Good luck for those having ops, i've had 3 epidurals which have gone fine. I had a CS for DS2 and as needs must I was carrying DD pretty much immediately.

As for appearances i'm quite sure I probably have the shortest hair of any of us but as far as i'm concerned its shocking and needs a cut pronto, tummy muscles are long gone and the need to have 3 kids out of the house by 7.30 in the morning means that style is definately a thing of the past!

CoveredInDribble · 06/07/2005 20:23

Geogteach - 7 teeth??

OK, my turn ...

Ds is our first, so there's just the 3 of us (well, 5 if you count the two guinea pigs). Dp and I are engaged but haven't yet started planning the wedding.

Ds was born October 9th - he kept us waiting and in the end I begged for an induction as I was HUGE! He was 11 days late, and arrived weighing 9lb6.5oz so dread to think what he may have got to if we'd have waited for him to decide he was ready! Labour was v speedy - less than 2 hrs so is a bit of a blur - so I may have had morphine - I did have an injection, would that have been it? They gave me an injection and then gave me some pills to stop whatever it was in the injection making me sick ...?

Anyhow, ds has two teeth, and is sitting up, and crawling like a demon. Today he tried pulling himself up to stand by the sofa but ended up flat on his back with a very loud thump! He's another one that eats pretty much whatever's put in front of him, though this does include paper, tissues, shoelaces, feet, mobile phones, remote controls ......

Am just coming to the end of maternity leave, go back to work 2 days a week from next Tuesday, and ds will start nursery whilst I'm at work.

I don't get on the 'puter as much these days (not enough room in the study for ds to play so he trashes the place!), so Masiemog, hope all goes well next week and you aren't too uncomfortable afterwards! And at Pog saying mumumum - ds will babble just about anything it would seem apart from anything that could be interpreted as a reference to me!

biglips · 06/07/2005 23:12

i had the prefect pregnancy apart from being knackered throughout, i had to be induced as baba was 12 days late so was given morphine and i threw up all over poor Dp and all over myself and did a trail of puke all the way to the loo , puked up over the next couple of hours (not nice at all as i was puking up outside the hossy as well!!) so was given gas & air and epidural (eventually) then after the emergency c-section i was on the morphine drip which i was convinced it was water as it didnt work for me at all so they gave me summat stronger which was voltarol..... i was ready to go home the following day but once it worn off i was in pain. Home on the 6th day as could've off went homeon the 5th day but BP was thru the roof (ive got hypertension BP) and now here i am

im still abit sore and been doing aquafits as its good for the stomach, also ive got teh angela griffins dancemix - its good (when i remember!!!)

biglips · 06/07/2005 23:17

continued.... i couldnt carry baba at all in hossy as she was 9lb 1oz (not like CID's BIG baba!!) but i just putted her on teh bed with me ( i was in the antenatal ward as the postnatal ward was full so all the pg women were taking turns picking baba up)

baba is teething again atm so now she got 5.

bibi -are you planning an elective Csection or natural? as im hoping to go natural (for my future baba)

BibiTwo · 07/07/2005 09:28

I am planning an elective c-section this time round. No way am I going through a long, painful, syntocinon-enhanced labour again only to be rushed into theatre 48.5 hours later becasue db's heartrate is dangerously low and I'm STILL only 8cm dilated.
Due date is dh's birthday so i'm hoping I get to pick that date of section!
I am terrified of having an operation again, as last time I was so whacked out on drugs I wasn't really with it enough to panic, but I think it'll be for the best as I appear to have a cervix of steel!
Has anyone else had a vbac and what was it like?

BibiTwo · 07/07/2005 09:29

I meant has anyone here had a vbac?

I know I'll go through the "I want a natural birth" stage this time, but I'm not prepared to risk it.

wysiwyg · 07/07/2005 10:14

Bibitow - yes I did have VBAC (DS born Nov 04)so I have watched this thread for ages as was due in October. DD born by caesarian section - was horrendous experience I never wanted to repeat (won't go into detail here - too long); desperate to avoid section 2nd time around. Had to fight with consultants as they were really expecting me to just book in for section. In the end could go for trial of scar. I was much more in control and thought that reason for section first time was due to epidural/ stopped contractions/ drip etc. (turns out baby was back to back too) so I thought I would do it with no epidural.
I was told second time will be quicker labour even if section first time around. I used TENS this time, stayed at home as long as I could, gas and air - refused an epidural and held out. They panicked and wanted to do a section - but suddenly I was fully dilated and had ventouse delivery.
It was amazing because I felt so good afterwards - recovery was so much quicker and I was on my feet straight away - on cloud nine.
Was very pleased with my decision to at least try.

docket · 07/07/2005 19:28

Ok, my turn, I'm 32, just married and ds is my first. Would like another but not quite yet. I went back to work on monday and it hasn't been too unpleasant although it's early days...

ds (Alex) was born on the 24th and is crawling and standing and has 3 teeth. He is, of course, utterly gorgeous

Maisiemog · 07/07/2005 19:59

Mrs Docket is it now?
I'm 38 and ds is my first - his real name is Alfie, incidentally. I'm getting fed-up with calling him ds and Pog.
Does anyone dare reveal the name of their child?? I hope KathH's ds is really called babymole, because I like that name.
Biglips that labour sounds horrible, and you have reinforced my fear of morphine, so I'll make a big fuss about being given anti-nausea medication next week.

cerys · 07/07/2005 21:23

Bibi - I had two VBACs! DD1 was emergency c-section after induction and failed ventouse. DD2 was such a quick labour that the second stage was 45 minutes and she was on her way out before they could get me to theatre. She always is in a hurry!
DS was also a VBAC, labour was longer but I stayed away from hospital for as long as possible and went for a walk to keep things moving. When I did go in they made me lie down because I had to be on the foetal monitor because of the c-section, and things did slow down.
DD2 and DS were both born with just gas and air -I have to say I would have liked more pain relief! I went home the next day and the children didn't really notice I'd been gone.

huppa · 07/07/2005 21:42

Hi, Haven´t had a chance to get on here for ages, so it´s great to catch up with how everyone´s getting on.
I´m living in Germany and ds is our second child. Dd is 2,5.
Ds has mastered commando crawling in the last couple of weeks, but still has no teeth. If I´d have written this a week ago I would have said he´s a really laid back, easy going baby, but in the last week he´s become incredibly loud and stroppy - just like his sister then . I´m hoping it´s just a phase, but actually think his beginning to show his true colours.
I´m really excited because I´m off to England tomorrow on my own for 3 childless days, celebrating a couple of 40th birthdays. Mind you I´ve never left ds for longer than a couple of hours, so I´m also feeling a bit worried and guilty, but I´m sure dh will do a brilliant job.
Congrats to all those marrying, expecting etc.....

florenceuk · 07/07/2005 22:13

What a day - London weird place to be at the moment .

Anyway, nice to hear about everyone. I have a DS (3.5yrs) and a DD (nearly 9mths now). DD is now crawling well, and loves to stand - can stand unsupported for a nano-second. Is doing lots of chatting and DH is convinced she said Dada the other day. Still not sleeping through past 5.30am, yawn. DS terribly jealous, now DD squawks if she sees me cuddling DS so not a good combination!

BTW, beansprout, for the impetigo, DS and DD had Erythromycin, which seemed to clear it up, although DS was complaining the other day that his nose was sore, and I have anxiously checked every pimple on his face.... I have been bathing them in Oilatum Plus (antibacterial) and using Fucidin on DS's worst bits of ezcema, to try and avoid it coming back - will keep this up until at least end of nursery term. It is horrible isn't it, esp if they have it on their face - poor DS! And I got horribly paranoid about my own face and kept washing my hands - ugh!

florenceuk · 07/07/2005 22:14

And congrats to Bibitwo on pregnancy! Mad, mad, mad though....

Maisiemog · 07/07/2005 23:23

It is a weird day, I couldn't believe it when I put on the TV this morning. I thought 'that looks like London' and there was a banner with "Explosions in underground".
How shocking. I'm in Edinburgh and because there has been a spotlight on us this week, with the walk and concert, I was getting a bit paranoid for dp coming home on the bus.
Pog hasn't had an unbroken sleep for ages, he is currently waking for a feed every 4-5 hours, but he has quick snack and then nods off again, so it's not too bad - and we co sleep and have a cot right next to the bed, which helps.

Maisiemog · 07/07/2005 23:25

Florence, I bet your DH is coaching your DD when you are out. "Say da da dada"
