Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

Hi all!

Ds now sympathises with those babas that have had sore bums, as he had his first bout of nappy rash this week, but the Metanium (sp?????) seems to have cleared it up ok, so glad you guys mentioned it!

Last week ds had an hour at nursery by himself as part of his settling in routine, and he hated it - screamed on and off for the entire hour . Didn't realise he'd be that clingy, but then he's not really been left with anyone other than me or df before ... got another, slightly longer sess tomorrow, hopefully he'll be a bit better, seemed terrified of the other babies before!

Back to work in just over a week, and am really looking forward to it, assuming ds settles into nursery OK that is! His eczema seems much better recently too - have fingers crossed that he may be growing out of it, although he's just sbout sussed crawling now (forwards and everything) so his legs get a bit sore after a hard day on the carpet! Spent this morning removing all non-essential cables etc from the living room (phone chargers etc) cos along with df's shoelaces, they seem to be ds's new favourite toys!

My mum & dad are gonna have sooo much fun when they babysit next weekend (have tickets to REM in Hyde Park ) - last time they saw ds he wasn't really mobile .... I should probably warn them!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend, and there have been no more outbreaks of chicken pox, and Masiemog, hope you find a solution to feeding Pog whilst in hosp! (I still remember the football feeling from when I was bfing so you have my sympathies!)

Bellie · 03/07/2005 18:31

Hi all - sounds like everyone has been getting on well during the hot weather - eczema clearing up and bums clearing up too . I just hope all the chickenpox are clearing too
Biglips has the bathroom been finished yet??
Had a great holiday although dd learnt to stand and we have had to clear everything from tables etc now we are home - had no idea how much stuff was at that height!!
Oh yeah - 2 teeth came through on holiday - so much for some relaxing sleep when we were there

Bibiboo · 04/07/2005 13:59

Sorry I haven't had time to catch up with everyone's news etc, not been posting for a while, just wanted to ask...

Does anyone fancy joining me in starting a March 2006 baby thread?!

Just found out, so VERY early days, no one but dh knows, I just want to tell people and MN is a fairly safe place to post my news as it's not "real" iykwim, and if anything was to go wrong, then I know I could come here for advice and support. Yes, I think I am mad for having another so soon, but it's meant to be, right?

As I just said over on the pregnancy thread, bibiboo is now bibitwo

beansprout · 04/07/2005 16:51

OMG!! Congratulations Bibi!!! That's fantastic!! How are you feeling?!

Have been to docs today for 8th time re Bean's skin and now have a referral to the hospital. GP is suggesting I keep applying HC but I really don't want to keep doing that. Am hoping that a clearer diagnosis will help.

And now, a really nice question, does anyone else's db have a red faced, grunting hard time of it when having a poo? Dp keeps saying he is constipated but I think it is because he is new to passing solid poo (has only been on solids for a few weeks).

Hope everyone else is ok!

geogteach · 04/07/2005 18:35

Ace news bibi, it is so reasurring to know it happens to other people, you are welcome to pick my brain (what little of it remains), for all I know on having children so close together!
Bean, have you considered cows milk intolerence? A bit extreme maybe but both DD and DS2 suffer constipation and excema due to cows milk.

Maisiemog · 04/07/2005 19:06

Congratulations Bibiboo, how exciting!! . Does it feel the same as the first time, or are you an 'old hand' now?
I can still remember walking around in shock, with the two tests that I did at the same time.
Pog sometimes seems to be having a hard time pooing. I kind of watch his nappies to make sure they are wet enough and the poo isn't too hard or dry. I think he gets more thirsty in the warmer weather, and he does seem to sweat a bit.
When he does poo, does it seem hard or like constipated poo?
Could you step up his milk/water/juice to see if it helps?
Hope all our mums to be are enjoying the nice rain and cooler weather.

CoveredInDribble · 05/07/2005 10:16

Beansprout, hope the hosp referral for Bean's skin gets you somewhere - we are lucky in that our local GP practice has a dermatology nurse on site, so I have taken ds to see her re his eczema. Like you, I didn't just want to keep slapping the hc on if I didn't have to - she changed our creams, and although she did still give us some hc, it was a different type - think she said it was an anti-bacterial one - and has cleared up all the patches that he had scratched really fast. He looked like a new baby in just a few days and hasn't been anywhere near as bad since! I really hope you and Bean can find the right cream (or whatever!) for his skin soon!

And re the pooing question, ds does the really red face grunting thing sometimes too - like Masiemog, we just try to make sure he has enough water (tricky, as he still isn't massively keen on it!) and have also found that fruit purees can work wonders too, IYSWIM!!

Back to work next Tuesday, yay!! (am only doing two days a week, taking it easy . Ds had last settling in visit at nursery and was much better this time round - still floods of tears initially, but he did calm down, he just needs to get used to a noisier environment!

Big congrats to Bibi, hope you feelin OK!

biglips · 05/07/2005 10:22

OMG!! ............congrats to bibi!!!!

(not heard from any of the other preggers lately, probably all tired)

i asked my DP "what happened if i have twins (as its very high on Dads side and mum is a twin herself).. DP said "you'll have a nervous breakdown!". i just said "har har har!" (or would i?)

bean and CID - let me blow kisses to your babies and hope they will get better XXXxxxxXXXxxxxXXXXxxxXXXXXXXXxxxxxxxxxxXXXXXxxxxx............

maisie- constipated looks like rabbit poos (and also a long hard one Pls dont take it the wrong way !!), best to try and give baba some apricot with rice pud (pureed) and he will be fine

beansprout · 05/07/2005 10:37

Thanks for the advice everyone. Bean's diet is still dairy free and he is breast fed so I don't think it is a food trigger. I have been told that cutting dairy from my diet is not likely to help.
CID - sorry to hear you are in the same boat, but glad of your support. Good luck for your return to work next week.

On the poo front, Bean has prunes most days and lots of fruit, veg and grains. It does seem to be getting a bit easier for him (practice makes perfect!) . He also has a good commando crawling-with-his-arms thing going at the moment. VERY disconcerting when he appeared behind me for the first time the other day!!!

How are all the pregnant ladies among us?! Hope you are all ok.

biglips · 05/07/2005 12:19

ive been giving baba sugar free orange juice in her water bottle (only put a tiny amount in the bottle) and she likes it

Bibiboo · 05/07/2005 14:30

Thank you for your lovely messages. I'm feeling fine thanks - in fact not feling very pregnant at all compared to last time. With dd I was sicky, boobs were filled with molten lava and I was asleep by 4pm without fail every day. But two pregnancy tests and no period say I am most certainly pregnant, so can only assume I'm having a boy this time and will have a wonderful, glowing pregnancy with no problems at all. Do have the funny taste in my mouth which I never had with dd - like when hairspray catches in your throat..? I take it your pregnant too Biglips? How far? Me and dh had the twins discussion last night, and even though there's no history, one in 80 pregnancies are twins - far too close odds for my liking!

Bean, sorry to hear about your ds's excema. Hope you find a cure soon. Sorry if I'm repeating others, but maybe it is a food intolerance but something you're eating, not him - are you still b/f?
As for the constipation, water, water, water! If your babas can drink it slightly warm, all the better I find as it helps chivvy along a sluggish system, or so hv told me. It works for me as I have a cup of hot water every morning.

Fingers crossed for good skin and free and easy poo from now on

PS> Am I right to be so excited so early on in my pg? Sometimes I feel like I'm tempting fate.

Bellie · 05/07/2005 16:33

Bibi - many congrats - you are perfectly entitled to feel excited this early on and fingers crossed for no sickness too!

Bean - I think you are right that the pooing gets easier for them - although dd still has problems if she has too much banana - although pears seem to sort it out for her. Hope the eczema is improving.
Biglips have I missed your announcement???
CID hope work goes OK when you go back I am sure ds will settle fine when he realises all the fun he can have

docket · 05/07/2005 20:29

Oooh, I haven't been on here for ages and loads of news, Bibi - massive congratulations to you!

Beansprout, ds does go red and grunts when he poos too, I had assumed it was normal as long as the poo itself wasn't too 'firm' IYSWIM!

I had a lovely wedding and went back to work yesterday (4 days a week). It's a bit of a struggle but not as upsetting (so far at least) as I had feared.

The little one is a trouper, seems to have really chilled out these days and is now crawling and standing. Can't wait for friday so I can spend some proper time with him.

Hope everyone is well, off to watch some ghastly Ann Widdecombe programme...

Bellie · 05/07/2005 20:31

Docket soooo pleased that you had a lovely wedding but boo being back at work so soon.....roll on Friday

cazzybabs · 05/07/2005 20:48

Docket congratualtions on your wedding.

(I need a recap on everyone's lives. TBH I have forgotton so much stuff. I have forgotten who it was who's mother was proving a nightmare in France, Beansprout was it you and the CSA nightmare - I am sorry if I forgotton other things about everyone - I am crap. I can't evev remember who is preggers (bibi - I know you). Jbadgirl - is it you getting married next year?

I have three days of work left before the summer holidays - HORRAH. Grace is fine and is currently snogging her big sisters baby Anabelle - or giving her the kiss of death! Her spots seem to be clearing up nicely.

Bibiboo · 05/07/2005 21:07

Shall we have a recap session as I've been away for a while and have lost track too... say, a little bit about us, a bit about our babies and any news? That way, in a few minutes, most people can catch up fairly easily. I'd like to know who the pg ladies are too.

Right, shall I kick off?

ME: I have been back in work f/t for 3 months, and it's okay. I've settled back in and mostly I am happy I decided to come back.

DD: DD is FINALLY rolling over, but still not crawling and still has v little hair, bless. She's a happy, healthy little girl, with two chompers. We found out this week that she is absolutely petrified of ... wait for it ... no, not big dogs, not bigger babies, not noisy things, or strangers or thunder ... it's balloons!

NEWS: I am only just pg, found out Sunday morning but am happily spreading the news over MN, (not in RL yet). I am v happy about it, a bit scared about the financial/work side of things, but I'm sure that'll work out in soem shape or form.

Okay, that's me. I tried to keep it short. x

Maisiemog · 05/07/2005 21:54

Right Bibiboo, me next.
I'm supposed to have been back at work in May, but I took all my annual leave and some unpaid, and next week I'll be going onto sick leave. Yay!!!
Pog is adjusted age 7 and half months, because he was due Nov 18th, but he came early. Which is why I'm now going for a myomectomy, to nuke the fibroid that booted Pog out early. We would like a bro/sis for Pog.
Pog is crawling in an ungainly manner now, he is eating either two or three meals a day, dependent upon how he feels and says mumumum and babababa and goigoigoi (that last one is his favourite). He sits like a mermaid, not on his bot. He only rolls when I want to change his nappy -aaaaargh!!!

Maisiemog · 05/07/2005 21:59

Today I had a pre-admission thingy at the hospital and had to hear all the details about how they move your insides about. Help!!!
It's all too horrible.
I don't think I will be able to see Pog after the op, because I might be woozy and drop him or something, and I would hate to upset him without knowing. The bf might be tricky because of the morphine that I self-administer (omg) after the op. It sounds like it will be painful. Did anyone here have a section? - I think it might be a bit like that. Minus the contractions.
Apparently, I may have to have an epidural, depends on anaesthetist. Not looking forward to that. I have heard it can lead to back problems, and my back is a bit dodgy at the mo anyway.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I don't want to go!

Bellie · 05/07/2005 22:01

My turn

Not going back to work - although may do in the future - hated my boss anyway so timing worked out well!!
DD is crawling and standing up when she can pull herself up on the furniture and now has two teeth which are very sharp!! Is a fussy eater - which started at birth, but is gradually getting better. She is scared of the dyson and screams the place down when it comes out!!

cazzybabs · 05/07/2005 22:11

OK my turn - am year 3 teacher in a prep school in Cambridge, have 2 daughters. Am getting married on the 1st April 2006. Grace can crawl and can walk pushing things very slowly.

biglips · 06/07/2005 08:16

my turn - NO!, im not pregnant!!! as i was just talking to DP what if i had twins (in the future)..
still not back in work and havent been since sept last year
DD - went to a 4th bday party last sunday and DD was given a party bag (me and DP ate it all as DD was too young for a lollipop!!) and DP pulled out this blow thing that it rolled out and makes a sound and then rolled back in, but DD's bottom lip started to quiver and then started to cry so i did without making the sound but she still cried

biglips · 06/07/2005 08:18

and i had to tap DD's hand the other day as she stank her teeth into my arm (ooowww!)coz she started to get hungry, she was saying *"FEED ME NOW!!!"

BibiTwo · 06/07/2005 08:50

I had a section Maisiemog and had morphine afterwards, and it was wonderful stuff, can't praise it enough! You won't be in any pain, especially if you can self administer.
Also had an epidural, and find that the epi site on my back aches more now than it ever did before and sometimes clicks and pops, but it's not painful. I'd gladly trade the occasional back ache for pain relief from the contractions!

Maisiemog · 06/07/2005 13:41

Bibi I'm a bit worried about nausea with morphine, did you experience any? I hate vomiting - I would rather put up with the pain. I refused morphine when I was in hospital having Pog on that basis.
I do see the sense in an epidural when having a baby, I was open to the option with Pog, but this is going to be under a general anaesthetic, so I can't see why they would bother. Apparently, it depends which anaesthetist you get, some do, some don't.
How did you find picking up you lo after the section? Did you take long to heal?
Biglips, aaaah! Your DD sounds so sweet - and sensitive - maybe she'll be an actress.

beansprout · 06/07/2005 13:53

Recap - ds is my only child but dp has 2 dds (17 and 20). We are getting married on 3rd September. Ds is still b/f and has only been on solids for about 6 weeks. No meat for the Bean as we are veggie. He has had problems with eczema and impetigo but it is under control. Three teeth (all bottom) and a commando crawling thing just using his arms that is too effective for my liking. I will be going to back to work p/t in October and am dreading leaving him.

Maisiemog - I had a section and swear by arnica to aid the healing process. By all accounts I healed v quicily. Lifting things was hard but you get by. Not sure if I had morphine (hey, maybe that means I did!!) I think you can get pain killers that are not mood altering so do ask the hospital if you are concerned. There should be alternatives.

Bit chuffed here about the Olympic result!!
