Thanks girls, for letting me start this thread.

Well as Maisiemog and Biglips have said --- I am pregnant!

OMG - once I got over the shock I am now quite excited and dp is absolutely delighted.

EEK - I'm still on maternity leave!

Anyone else got a small age difference between babas - if everything goes O.K there will only be nearly 16 months between them.

Anyway, dd is fine and is now eating happily if not too well - still a bit of a chunkster - but lovely. She is now also drinking water - hurrah!!!!! Still no teeth or crawling but she is creeping backwards and sits up well.

Hope you are all well - still think this parenthood lark can be difficult!

Masiemog - sorry to disappoint but babymole is really called William

geogteach · 08/07/2005 10:39

DS3 is Louis in real life

BibiTwo · 08/07/2005 10:58

DD is called Carys in RL, not Boo.

Maisiemog · 08/07/2005 13:24

KathH, that is soo cute. I love William, so I'm not too disappointed. Obviously I know his middle name is babymole, so it's not too much of a blow.
Alfie's middle name is Paddington, because that was his name before he was born. They aren't allowed to tell you the sex of the baby in Edinburgh, so the name has to be reasonably unisex.
My friend Clare, was surprised when Alfie wasn't a little bear.

biglips · 08/07/2005 16:41

mine is called Levina (as baba had got a real name!)

i was supposed to go to cardiff this weekend with baba, but decided not to go now as just incase there be bombs on the motorway (you'll never know)

baba had been saying "dadadadadadadadada" and "nananananananana" and blowing raspberries but no "mamamamamamama" [sad} one day it will come, just one day!

biglips · 08/07/2005 16:44

one of my friend got a 6 months old nephew called Darren (its seeming that all the old names are coming back in)

Maisiemog · 08/07/2005 19:32

Is that an old name?!
When I was at infants school, in England there were at least four Darrens; Scott and Grant was also popular.
At high school in Scotland, the most popular boys' name was Andrew (Andy).
My friend's little girl is at nursery and the girls are all called either Sophie, Zoe or K/Caitlin (?).

My re-cap: I am 24 with one ds and dp. Ds was born 19 oct but was due 16 nov. So far we have seen x amount of doctors and consultants regarding ds's development. He isn't rolling, sitting and still has no teeth! We are lucky if we get a smile from him but this is becoming more regular now. They think he has possible cerebral palsy but not sure??? He has very poor vision but this seems to be improving more and more.

(dont think im sounding too negative re ds but its easier to say what he cant do atm) we have been coping well and our relationship with ds is getting stronger and stronger day by day.

Me and dp are planning our wedding for may 6th '06 and have only booked the venues so far!

maisiemog · 11/07/2005 00:52

Jbad, I'm happy to hear your ds is coming along so well. He looks such an adorable baby.

BibiTwo · 11/07/2005 09:03

I need to pick the brains of geogteach and any other crazy babies-close-together-mummies please! Is there anything obvious I should know about 2 babies close together? Do I need any specific equipment, apart from a larger car and double buggy? I am trying to come to terms with having to lose my Beetle but it's going to be a long, sad goodbye! I'm hanging onto her until the very last minute.
And how soon can a baby go into a toddler bed? DD will be approx 20m when db will be out of the moses basket and needing the cot. I think that's too young for a bedm but am happy to be told I am wrong!

Thanks!

biglips · 11/07/2005 09:23

hello everyone - hope ya'll had a lovely weekend? as i had a gud weekend, went to see "The American Circus which was very good and funny (no animals) and everyone was clapping, baba was looking around and thinking "WOW, everyone is clapping!"

when we got home baba was clapping properly for the first time (hooray after showing it to her for the past month - my hands is now aching )

biglips · 11/07/2005 09:24

jbad - glad your baba is coming on well

biglips · 11/07/2005 09:26

baba woken me up 4 TIMES in early hours (she was feeling hot so thats why she was waking up)

BibiTwo · 11/07/2005 10:27

Biglips, I'm having the same problem with dd waking because she's hot. She won't sleep without a grobag, so she's just in her nappy and that, with the window open a little, but I had to sneak in at 4 this morning to shut it as it was really cold!

geogteach · 12/07/2005 20:00

Right Bibi, car and buggy are the essentials. As far as beds go I presume at 20 months you still want her have a day time nap (mine gave up around this age but I know thats early by most standards), most kids I know start refusing to nap once in a bed. My 2 went into beds at 22 and 24 months and it totaly wrecked their bedtime routine, ds2 is staying in his until he is 21.
I got a bouncy chair for DD as DS1 just lay on the floor but I didn't trust him not to tread on a baby. The only other thing i'd say is don't under estimate the impact of seasonality, I've had babies in April, June and October and although 0-3 month clothes are pretty universal the others aren't! Having said that wait and see what pressies you get. You will probably end up needing 2 second stage car seats and expereince tells me the longer you can keep number one in a high chair the better but you should get away with a booster seat.

BibiTwo · 12/07/2005 21:27

Aaaawwwwww, I was hoping you'd say "oh, I have a beetle and seven children and it's simply NOT a problem, keep your fab car!"

Thanks for all the other advice though, I will be coming back for more, as and when it comes to me. As for the clothes, I'm resigned to getting all new anyway as I am convinced will be a boy. I am having no pregnancy symptoms at all except 2 bfp tests and no af; but with dd I had throbbing boobs, nausea and fatigue the week before af was due. I'm 6ish weeks now and nothing seems untoward. It's had me a bit worried tbh, but dh is reassuring em that it could be something as simple as this baby's a boy so no flood of girl hormones making my boobs go crazy, or that my body's just used to it this time round. Anyone else find their 2nd pregnancies were different?

BibiTwo · 13/07/2005 10:21

bump?

cerys · 13/07/2005 10:37

Hi Bibi (I am not following you round the board, honest!)
I was sick as a dog when pregnant with DD1, but felt great with DD2 and also with DS. So not sure if that answers your question! A lot of people correctly predicted baby 3 would be a boy because of how the bump was, but as DH says, you have got a 50:50 chance of being correct, so I'm not sure how much accuracy was involved.

Re your question about cots and beds, DD2 came out of her cot at 19 months as she was trying to escape all the time. She went into a bed with a bed guard. If the bed is a low child's one, you could just put a duvet down on the floor for a soft landing. You might want to introduce the bed gradually, in case DD feels she's been ousted from her cot by the new baby!

biglips · 13/07/2005 11:15

cerys - same here as everyone was convinced i was having a boy cos i was all front, massive, high and round and from the back i didnt look pg but turned out to be a girl (wanted to keep the sex as a surprise)

biglips · 15/07/2005 16:25

Had the 8 months old check yesterday and all went well. Baba was showing off her skills to HV of what she can do, it was funny ... Hv called baba "livewire" as she is so noisy .. so i dont have to have another hearing test as baba all fine as we've got no concerned.

biglips · 15/07/2005 16:25

quiet on here for a change !!

cazzybabs · 15/07/2005 16:40

I am still around - feeling like a terrible mother as I shipped my 2 off to nursery and I have surfed online all day - do I have nothing better do? Dp will be very cross and there is tje hugest pile of washing up! Think I shall go and get the dds and then attack it!

Nothing much to report on the Grace front - she is an abosulte pain at the mo to get a nappy one- I worry I will dislocate her legs in trying to hold her down. She know shakes her head when no is said and can say "uhh oh". I am trying to teach her animal noises at the mo.

biglips · 15/07/2005 21:08

cazzy - i know what you mean about trying to get the nappy on as baba is a pain in the neck atm, but i just sing her nursery rhythms and she keeps very still , she loves if i sing songs to her

biglips · 15/07/2005 21:10

also she is going abit wild in the walker as she is jumping up in the air really high and shrieking too - mad girl!! buti ve worked it out now that whenever she is hungry and im holding her she bites me (ouch!), i have to really shouts at her saying "NO!"

maisiemog · 16/07/2005 19:35

I'm out of hossy now, and it wasn't too bad. I tried to post when I was in, but the internet didn't let me. grrr! It was this meeny miny keypad thing that you had to press with a cocktail stick and it took me half an hour to do about three lines, and then it wouldn't go, and deleted the text. Waaaah!
I was getting really scared about the op and when I went to my room (I had my own room!) dp and Alfie came too and waited until they took me away on the bed (like an old lady) and dp carried Alfie down in the lift. The operating theatre was on the first floor so I was wheeled out leaving dp in the lift. I had to kiss him and Alfie and then into the theatre, and I started crying, but only for a minute and then I started planning how I would escape.
Anyway it went well, I did have morphine, but very little and I did vomit, uck! I managed to bf Alfie on the night of the op and he and the family came in the next day, and then I went home on Thursday.
So now I'm just hobbling around and I don't feel too bad at all. I'm hardly taking any painkillers and the cut looks alright.
Whilst I was in hospital Alfie pulled himself up to stand for the first time - and I missed it. I'm sure he was showing off for daddy.
Hope everyone is well. And what about the hot weather. I don't like it - not every day. No!
