news, pack but don't tidy - an excellent compromise....

thought it was time to stop stating the obvious....

Ooo people come massage my furrowed brow.

Yo know the weaning thing isn't going great. Had dd weighed today but forgot red book. Have just plotted her weight, and noticed the last weight but one is in the wrong spot. She has gained 7.5 oz in 8 weeks. Thats not very impressive is it?

Maybe I should start a thread? Get some info on how much this matters etc. I'm out of my knowledge comfort zone after....er.....about 5 days into a newborns life tbh!

PatTheHammer · 02/09/2009 21:59

Hey, I'm here in spirit but knackered after my swim!!!

Today was first day proper so actually had to teach some lessons, felt a bit rusty tbh! Only Y7 and Y11 in though and day off tomorrow so not too bad.

Trip to work a nightmare, left at 8.35am dropped DS at nursery at 8.55, bombed it to pre-school and dropped DD off at 9.10am then went back across town (narrowly avoiding a huge accident that had just taken place.....didn't stop as I didn't see anything and there were plenty of other people about/nothing on fire/people walking etc so looked ok) and got to work at 9.35. So an hour in the car for what is essentially a 20min commute. Not sure about dropping 2 of them off anymore, not sure it is feasible as I like to get in a good 25mins early to sort out lesson stuff before I teach.

DS had a great day today including an hour and 40 mins nap and ate loads of sweet and sour chicken for dinner (they are v.impressed with his eating ). When I got back home and did DD a quick dinner he made out he was still hungry so has basicaly had 4 meals today.....what a pig.

DD loved seeing all her friends at pre-school and has seemed very tired this afternoon so its all good with them.

Day off tomorrow......woo-hoo! Will catch up properly then! (can't remember who asked but I do 3 and half days)

Lenni- that docs sound horrific, what a bloody waste of your time!!

Stripey- Check you out at the gym

Moose- I have a crawling ball but will deffo get one of those other things, they have one at nursery and apparently Z loves it so thanks for the link.

moosemama · 02/09/2009 23:07

Dog twas annawiz scroll down a bit to find it.

I think we will be getting a new one soon. They only have a relatively short battery life. If you read the instruction manual they only last twelve months if you use them for only a few hours a day (like that's any use to anyone). If you use them 24/7 they are only predicted to last roughly 6 months. We bought dd's when she was just under 2 months old I think (apnea episode was 5 weeks so maybe got ours at 6 weeks?) so ours will probably stop working any day now as well. Fortunately Mum has offered to buy her a new one. Actually I'd better get on and order it, I'd be the same and totally unable to settle if she wasn't wearing hers. You can send them away to have the battery replaced, but they have to go to South Africa!

Dh and I are both in a grump this evening after being told off by the vet about one of our dog's ears. Drives me insane, they are as bad as GPs. We have spent years trying to get her ears and skin sorted out, spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds on her and never been referred to a specialist, despite asking several times. We had to cancel the dog's insurance last month as it was costing us more to insure one dog than it was to insure the car! Money we simply can't afford at the moment and we had never claimed on her policy as the excess didn't make it worth our while. New vet at the practice tonight decides she should be referred (finally) to a specialist which she predicts will cost thousands of pounds (probably 5 or 6 thousand!) and involve major surgery etc etc. Thing is she is nearly 11 and we have been going through this loop since she was 6 weeks old fgs. Her ears do look awful and she suffers with terrible itching and regular ear infections but we simply can't afford a referral without insurance and I'm not sure I believe they could do anything anyway as she has atopic allergies and a skin yeast overgrowth called mallasezia pachydermitis both of which can only be managed rather than cured.

Sorry, rant over!

moosemama · 02/09/2009 23:11

News weight loss often drops off at about 6 months and very often really slows up at the start of weaning so don't panic. Average weight gain between 6 and 12 months is 1.75 - 2.75 ounces per week and as that's an average some will be over that range and some will be under, so H isn't too far out at all.

Does that make sense? Am verry tired.

newspaperdelivery · 02/09/2009 23:17

Oh Moose

Thank you. Go to bed and sleep tight. I'm sorry about the stuff with the dog. Hell thats a lot of money.

newspaperdelivery · 02/09/2009 23:17

Yes it does make sense btw

moosemama · 02/09/2009 23:24

Chance'd be a fine thing, blummin stomach pills have given me insomnia! Its just like being pregnant again - only without the nice bit at the end to look forward to.

Anyhoo, off to lie in bed and stare at the baby monitor flashing on and off. Night.

newspaperdelivery · 02/09/2009 23:32

Night Moose. Sending sleep karma...

SparkleandShine · 03/09/2009 09:40

OK it's a whole 1000 posts and a new thread since I last came on here who can give me a quick update? pretty please??

DS1 back to kindergarten today and now working a defined 3 days a week so a bit more time on my hands!

James decided to crawl, sit and cut a tooth about a month ago now at 6 months and has been hell ever since - the teeth are really hurting him...

I'm sure we all have tiny babies.I have barely delivered!! How can there be teeth and crawling?

C'mon Pat - round us up!

Hello Sparkle - hows it all going? Soccerette has moved at really short notice to a new town. Erm, the teachers are all back at work I think. Pat is for sure. Moose has a poorly tum . What else.......bet I've missed out loads of really important stuff. oo Arlo of Dog has got more words and sentences.

How did the night go Moose?

bodenaddict · 03/09/2009 10:24

hi

tree -m ine have never gained much weight

PatTheHammer · 03/09/2009 10:33

I am really behind so no chance of a round-up here!

Lots of people went away on hols, some went to festivals, one got married, few people moving, dogs house being sold after they have only just moved in, few people back at work, bunch of us trying to lose weight with varying success, some older siblings starting school this week, most babies going well with their food, 4 or 5 crawlers, most sleeping quite well and some mad buggers are already thinking about the next DC!!

Welcome back sparkle , hope all is well.

I am indeed back at work, went back tuesday and am back 3.5 days a week so today my day off-woo-hoo! We are also moving in about 2 weeks time and have a grand total of 4 boxes packed. DS crawling and crusing about and constantly falling over and bumping his head. Has 6 teeth, cutting some more and on about 4 meals a day now he is at nursery.

Have you worked out the name changes???

and collapses.

Whole household came down with some kind of 24hour d&v/cold virus yesterday. All laid out over various bits of furniture moaning! DH and I took turns to nap. First time we've ever all been ill together, what a nightmare, hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon. All better today but wiped.

Moose sorry about your dog, really bad timing with the insurance. We suspect one of ours has arthritis hence have renewed pet insurance, it is so expensive though. £200 just for our mongrel.

Pat Could DH drop one of them off for you or is that not an option. Doesn't sound like the best start to a day at work. Far too stressful.

Well DS is now standing holding on with one hand fairly confidently. I'm actually pleased now that he's showing signs of thinking about walking. The crawling type thing he has going on has destroyed any illusion of peace and we've had to banish all of DD's little toys from the playroom so walking would be good now since I can't put him down anywhere until he can stand by himself. Sometimes when DD needs a cuddle it would be very handy to be able to stand him up for a minute.

Catch up again later - DD terrorising the dog

bodenaddict · 03/09/2009 12:53

oh no lenni hope u all feel better soon
