Oh no, bumps. It's so horrid, isn't it.

M is still not right, so MIL has taken her off to GP today. I can't think what it can be.

My appointment yesterday was most unpleasant, but thankfully fairly quick. GP says I have a pile! which needs to be banded but can't rule out IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), so wants me to have a full on colonoscopy.

On the plus side, I start my new role in the office today, fingers crossed I don't mess up too much!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

bumpsnowjustplump · 04/09/2009 10:41

PSL I hS colonoscopy about 4 years ago and it isn't that bad... I didn't feel very much at all as they give you something... Thinking about it is actually worse than having it done but at least you can say afterwards that your bum has been on camera!!! he he he

katieblirdsnest · 04/09/2009 12:52

bumps and psl hope your 2 both get better very soon.

mos hope you had a lovely day of pampering and are enjoying having dh around again.

i'm not in work today but the nanny situation has definitely got easier over the 3 days. i already feel like she and we are relaxing into it. dd is behaving slightly oddly but she's had this change plus school starting so would be strange if she didn't. she seems absolutely fine with our nanny but probably more put out that i'm not around so much any more. ds already gives the nanny huge gummy smiles and doesn't seem put out about me not being there. when does separation anxiety kick in though?

pluto · 04/09/2009 17:37

I have a rubber baby who bounces too - rolled off the bed last week. When this happened with DS1 I was far more traumatised than him. This time it didn't seem so bad - soft carpet and perfectly himself afterwards. You'd have thought I would have learnt from first time round though

All is well here and Al is thriving and getting A* for sleeping through the night. Weaning is fine but generally spoon feeding - partly because I'm having a nightmare finding a high chair that suits him. We have a trip trap from DS1 but the baby set is a really tight squeeze and I find it very difficult to get him in and out of it and he makes a big fuss when we try to put him in it. Have bought an IKEA one as n alternative but weirdly this is too low for the dining room table so there's nowhere to put the food. Any suggestions? I guess I could buy a tray for his Bumbo.

MarkStretch · 04/09/2009 18:07

hello

PinkTulips · 04/09/2009 18:39

Evening all. had the day from hell.

On top of all the usual madness which now includes irish dancing on fridays we slept through our alarms and were woken by the mattress delivery men so i had to dismantle the old bed while they hovered with the new mattress, then i got one car back from the garage, dropped in the other due to lack of reverseability, tried to drive to tescos a few hours later and broke down at the side of a busy road... que slightly bemused mechanic driving one car out to me on the tow truck and taking the other.... and i still had to do the damn shopping! Have also managed to do toddler group, walking there and back in the rain, with our new neighbour. Have been late collecting dd from school and am now enjoying my first sit down since this am until dd gets back from dancing.

Wish i could drink because i'm badly in need of one!

PinkTulips · 04/09/2009 18:41

Sorry your babies aren't on form bumps and PSL... hopefully they're on the mend by now though... sending ye lots of feel good vibes to pass on to them

katie, glad work and nanny are going well, sounds like your kids are adjusting really well... hope it continues smoothly

yummyspottyblueberry · 05/09/2009 08:42

Wrote a huge post last night but comp kept deleting it and the same thing is happening this morning so will keep it very short!!

(((bumps, PSL, Pink))) and anyone else who needs one.

Glad nanny & work going ok KBN

Pluto - we use a MUCH less fancy version of this. Fairly high dining room table and it fits well.

Hi MS.

Hope you had a good spa day MOS
x

mumoverseas · 05/09/2009 08:52

morning all,
bumps and PSL hope little ones better now.

pluto, I put H in his bumbo on a chair right up next to the table and that works well.

PT christ, what a day, hope you have a better one today.
I've had a crap few days.
The pamper on Thursday was lovely but then DH came in to collect me when I was just about to go down and get changed and of course I saw H and my boobs started tingling.
I'd just had a pedicure so was trying to very carefully change out of my 'spa robe' into my 3/4 length jeans. So there I am in the communal changing room, one foot carefully into jeans, just about to put other through when my arm feels wet. Then realise that I've exploded and milk dripping everywhere so had to hop as stil had jeans half on, across the changing room to the counter with the tissues on and stuff loads of tissues in my now soaking bra to the amusement of three other very posh ladies there. They must have thought I was completely mad

I've had car probs too, I've been telling DH all summer the volvo is not right but no, he doesn't believe me. UNTIL HE DRIVES IT! Then its straight to the garage (whilst I'm at the spa) with all my stuff in it, DDs car seat, my sunglasses and prescription sunglasses, dvd player and films etc.

Anyway, were going down to mums yesterday which was a pain as had to go in his silly little boy car (subaru) which is bloody uncomfortable and also no boot space (well not compared to volvo) It was to be my last trip to mums and therefore last chance to rescue anything I wanted. I imagine when I get back in December my brothers will have sold it. Needless to say, couldn't get much in and whilst there DH phoned garage who said the wheel bearings on the car and possibly the driveshaft buggered and don't know when we will get it back!
So pissed off. Will obviously be very expensive and we had loads of plans this weekend. I've got a MN meet up in Brighton this afternoon and we are supposed to go for the day and DH will have kids whilst I lunch with girls then tomorrow visiting friends in Essex and then to MS's neck of the woods to househunt. That will be fun in the bloody subaru.
DH just gone to retrieve DD's car seat and my stuff (hopefully)

Crappy day yesterday at mums' lots of eye rolling by DH and then to grave on way back to say 'goodbye' to mum and dad until December. I was allowed 10 mins before the eye rolling started again and I was marched back to the car. Seemingly I'm not allowed to grieve.

sorry to be so gloomy.
I hope you all have a lovely sunny weekend x

pluto · 05/09/2009 09:44

Thanks for the high chair suggestions MOS and Yummy. I'm a bit nervous about putting the Bumbo on top of another chair given Al's propensity for accidents - but I'll give it a go. Having said that because the table is high I'm sure his nose will be hitting the side. Might try Freecycle - I'm always giving stuff away on that but weird karma where I never get anything back!

katieblirdsnest · 05/09/2009 15:04

MOS how shitty of your dh to be impatient when you were at your mum's house and grave.

bumps how is your little one doing now? hope temperature is back down.

does anyone know where lbb is?

dd is at the theatre with my parents seeing the stickman and ds is having mammoth sleeps today. nearly 2 hours this morning and over 2 hours now for his lunch sleep. he doesn't seem under the weather at all so maybe he just needs to catch up on some sleep.

PinkTulips · 05/09/2009 16:35

katie, was just wondering about lbb yesterday myself.

mos... your dh sounds like a complete twat behaving ike that at the grave, i'd have screamed like a fishwife if dp had behaved like that... well done you for not rising to it.

bumps and PSL... hope your lo's are on the mend now

Last night got worse after i posted, dp's friend came up and was in annoying humour and had dp stuck up til 2am before he left, and i didn't want to sleep on the new bed by myself on it's first night (silly i know but it's the first bed we've ever owned ourselves so a bit of a landmark) so i was stuck up til then too. ds1 fell asleep on the stairs and we didn't realise til he fell down the stairs and landed on his head, huge lump nd lots of hysterical crying so i had to keep him up for hours to be safe... and sods law it was the one night A actually slept for a few hours... and predicitbly woke just as ds1 was being packed back of to bed.

todays not going much better tbf but at least no major disasters.... yet!

PinkTulips · 05/09/2009 22:54

i had to jinx it didn't i?

dd broke her leg at a birthday party exactly 5 mins after my last post

yummyspottyblueberry · 06/09/2009 07:53

OMG Pink!! You and yours are really going through it atm So sorry for your poor DD. Hope it heals quickly ((()))

and MOS @ your hubby. That is most rude and disrespectful to you and your mum!

Sam got his first tooth on Friday and we haven't slept since. Gutted as he had been sleeping through everynight again. He also did his first official crawl 'step' - just what I need, a cranky moving baby that can bite

Have a good Sunday all x

MarkStretch · 06/09/2009 08:47

{{{{{{{PINK!}}}}}}}}

God hope she's ok?! How on earth did she manage that? Poor thing, and poor you!

Sorry I have been AWOL again. DS has had a stinking cold and now we have all come down with it. Poor thing spent 2 nights feeding continously and then yesterday he was so bunged up he couldn't feed at all so I spent last night feeling like I had two watermelons stuck to my chest and woke up in a pool of milk this morning in AGONY.

Thinking about it I should have got up and expressed some off but I was so tired I just wanted my bed. As soon as DH gets up I will have to strip the entire bed!

DD back to school tomorrow so we are back into the school run swing of things. I am quite looking forward to it, DD is the kind of girl who needs stimulation and gets bored very easily and we have exhausted all possible activities, she spends her hours grunting at me and folding her arms at the moment.

DS has just fallen asleep in his buggy so I am going to start the labourious task of ironing uniform. Talking of ironing....where is LBB?

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 11:54

MS, my dd is exactly the same, needs tonnes of activity and stimulation.... i'm dreading her being stuck on the couch bored for ages.

She broke it com,ing off a wall... she was at a birthday party and she and her bf were sat on a low wall and the friend took it into her head to jump off still holding dd's hand and judging by the fracture (spiral fracture that's broken the bone in two) she must have gotten her foot stuck and twisted the leg badly.

No one saw it though so can't sure, luckily the party was almost over so there were lots of moms there collecting and i was on my way to get her anyway.

Lucky i brought her when i did though, by the time i got to the hospital she was so much better i thought i was wasting their time, if she'd been like that at home there's no way i would have brought her in! Even the docs were amazed at the extent of the break... her perkiness convinced them not to admit her though... that and i don't think they fancied having A shouting on the childrens ward all night... he was getting crabby at that point!

MS.... i've done that, known i should have gotton up and expressed but just been too shattered to bother and ended up prectically floating out of the bed. Hope ds is feeling better today poor love.

btw... iron? uniform? I'm a bad mommy and bought non iron unis just as well what with not being in possession of an ironing board!

SweetTalkinWoman · 06/09/2009 12:46

PT - how is DD today? Poor little thing, but thank goodness she didn't have to be admitted which might have added a bit more trauma to the situation. Looks like it's gonna be long few weeks for you all!

Have been trying to catch up on the thread - haven't been on for ages as been doing loads of cooking and filling the freezer, DH and I have been catching up on all the old Lost episodes we recorded when Sam was born as we didn't have a hope of whtching them then! DH has also been playing some ridiculous computer game and hogging the laptop .

Hope everyone is generally well - Bumps how is O doing now? Hope his temperature has calmed down?

I was wondering about LBB but had a look back on Facebook and she posted last week saying her laptop had a virus so she was turning off connection... Might still be a problem, but I might text her to make sure all ok with her and her boys.

Not too much to report here - DD is being a little shit minx, only for me as she has glowing reports from the childminder! Sam is such a smiler and is making up for those hard early months. Both are sleeping well at night (at the moment - don't want to jinx) but I know this could change any time!

KBN how was your first week overall? INow I'm getting closer to "Back to School" I'm having a few wobbly moments about leaving the Sammer....

Off now to make some rice flour rusks for Sam... yuck! By the way PT if you have any "Free From" food recommendations, please share them!!!

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 12:56

STW... sadly there's little enough i can give A atm.

his only handy snack foods are rice and corn cakes and organix veggie crisps.

for brekkie he has fruit... i usually mash half with some baby rice to thicken and let him self feed the other half.

then for dinner it's meat and veg mush and he has some finger food while we eat our dinner as his 'tea'.

when i posted looking for inspiration when ds1 was this age though another MNer made a good point... they don't need much variety at this age and even if you can only give fruit and veg there's plenty of choices... they won't get bored as quickly as an older child of the same food over and over and they don't know your supposed to have cereal for breakfast so fruit id fine.... it's all just to experiance tastes at this age, not for a balanced diet nutritionally

katieblirdsnest · 06/09/2009 20:14

Pink your poor dd and poor you. hope she's doing ok. sounds like she's a trooper about not making too much fuss but it sounds properly hideous.

STW let us know if you hear from lbb, it's so unusual for her to be absent i hope it is just a dodgy computer.

my start back to work has honestly been fine, i did my usual thing of getting wobbly beforehand and have been fine with the reality. once in work i'm fine and it's amazing how quickly you get back into the flow of it. my next wobble is dd starting school tomorrow, think i've done everything we need to and we had a special treats and fun day today. trip to guildford pool this morning with all the slides etc, then lunch out, fair on wimbledon common (when yes i did feel sick after going on the caterpillar 'rollercoaster' with dd!) and then home for dd to choose a film. lovely day and i think tomorrow will be fine.

hope everyone has had a good weekend.

MarkStretch · 06/09/2009 21:10

Katy- sounds like you had a lovely day. We have been very dull here, just doing housework and made stew for dinner.

DD is all ready for junior school tomorrow, can't believe she's going to junior's already. She's taking it all in her stride, I swear I am far more excited than she is!

MarkStretch · 06/09/2009 21:10

Sorry katie

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 21:12

good luck for tomorrow both of you

elkiedee · 06/09/2009 23:43

Hope LBB is ok, if anyone is in contact please let us know? (I'll try to text at a civilised time tomorrow)

Hi all

SweetTalkinWoman · 07/09/2009 08:49

Hmmm, no response yet from LBB so hope all is ok. Will let you know if I do hear.

Thanks PT - I think I'm doing alright with Sam then. Good advice that at the moment it's not a case of offering gourmet meals, just fillers and tastes really. We have shares in rice cakes at the moment - every time Sam hears the rustle of the packet he starts shrieking.

Good luck to KBN and MS's DD's today!!!

katieblirdsnest · 07/09/2009 11:20

i am a very brave mum and didn''t shed a tear!

dd was SO excited and when it came to going into the classroom went without a backwards glance.

hopefully the reality will live up to her hype.
