Oh Pink - you're having a shocker at the moment! Sending you - and your poor DD - and your DS1 - huge hugs. I really hope her leg heals well. Same thing happened to a friend of mine when I was at school - she was very popular with her cast though - made her lots of friends at school who all wanted to draw on it. Hope it helps your DD break the ice at school.

KBN - glad things are settling down now you're back at work and DS is getting on well with your nanny as well as DD (we were away for long weekend and got back to London today at lunch time and both boys were beaming away as soon as our nanny arrived - lovely to know that she's loved by them ) and your DD's first day at school started well. Hope she had a great day. Same for Markstretch and her DD at junior school. I go back to work a week today and have to admit I have been having quite a few wibbles over the past 2 days - even though I've done the whole going back to work thing before with DS1 - over the idea of leaving Danny and DS1, even though I know they will be in brilliant hands and wont even miss me!

Pluto - have you thought about maybe getting a Handysitt ( basically slots over the back of your chairs at the table)? Have used them in restaurants and they're pretty handy. I agree the tripp trapp baby set isnt the easiest to use but the snug fit means I dont bother with a harness.

MoS - glad you had a nice time at the spa, but sounds like you've had a bit of a rough time again and at your DH's behaviour when you went to your mum's place. Hope you manage to get everything done you need to using the small car. Thank god the volvo was still working while you had to drop the DC1 and 2 off to their schools!

Had a long weekend at my parents place in Nottinghamshire as it was my mum's retirement party on Saturday. The boys were very doted on by all and sundry but Danny's sleep was rubbish again (awake every 2 hours again) and he gave himself another nosebleed trying to cry. DS1 was great but is now suffering 64 zoo lane and charlie & lola withdrawal syndrome as CBeebies have changed the bedtime hour again over the weekend and cancelled his two favourite programmes! Really dont see Night Garden which they've put in their place filling the void left in his little life somehow

hello all,
PT poor DD, hope she is ok and not getting too bored and you are not pulling your hair out just yet.

dinky think we are going to have a serious case of 'milkshake withdrawal' by the end of the week. Thankfully we've got little princess on dvd but really should have got some of the others too

have been rushing around today. Went up to Essex to visit friends Sunday am then up to Suffolk and had a little drive around up that way but don't think its for us. Think I want/need familiarity at the moment so have put house hunting on hold for the time being.

Just dashing around trying to squeeze everything I've bought into suitcases ready for our early start on Wednesday. Might need to find another suitcase (or two!)

Hope everyone ok x

Guess I'm doubling up tonight

dinkystinky · 07/09/2009 21:00

Sorry Spotty - promise that next time I head over that way I will pop in to see you and your menfolk. Think was too busy recovering from the 5 and a half hour drive to Cheshire on the Friday to see friends and their wee baby and then mum's retirement do on Saturday to even think of trying to shoot over to see you yesterday - most remiss of me

OP posts:
yummyspottyblueberry · 08/09/2009 09:10

S'ok Dinks you are forgiven! Hope you had a great time despite the long drives.

PolkSaladLucie · 08/09/2009 10:52

Morning all.

Am mega busy at work, but I wanted to pop in quickly - PT hope you and DD are ok, poor lamb.

KBN and MS hope your lovely had a good time yesterday, I bet they slept well last night!

Pluto I second Dinky's suggestion. We have a tripp-trapp and it works brilliantly for us, because M is so slim, but we bought one of these and have used it a few times out and about. Friends have the same for their 2 year old, so it has a good shelf life!

MarkStretch · 08/09/2009 13:14

Hello all

Thank god, we seem to be coming out the other end of this ghastly cold. I can actually taste food today.

DD LOVED her first day at Juniors yesterday. She had a fantastic time and skipped in on her own this morning. She has declared herself 'independent' and had a bath on her own last night (without DS) and washed (and conditioned!!) her own hair and laid out her uniform.

I'm still waiting for one of my children to be able to make me a pot of tea though, then I will really get my moneys worth.

PinkTulips · 08/09/2009 13:28

MS... dp has dd proficient at putting tea bag, sugar and mik in the cups... he's just waiting til she's old enough to do the kettle and he's sorted

dinkystinky · 08/09/2009 14:18

Ugh, plumbers. There should be a special circle of hell reserved for them. DH bless him spent his afternoon yesterday trying to fix our shower - sadly didnt work but also managed to get rid of all hot water in the house. So called plumber out for this morning - supposed to be here at 9, got here at 10.45 - turned out to be the same useless article that couldnt fix our leak 3 months ago - spent 45 minutes here, dismantled water tank, said there is air in the pipes (um, we knew that) but couldnt fix it and was off Called his Headquarters to arrange for a non-inept plumber to come this afternoon to fix it, then noticed the useless one had started a leak that had flooded our kitchen so they sent him back to fix it - he then proceeded to tell me that our working perfectly fine before water pump was broken and he'll be back at some point tomorrow afternoon though wont tell me when to fix it maybe and he had cancelled the plumber coming to fix our lack of hot water system Had a stand up argument with him after this and am still bloody fuming - the bastard has gone off with the part so cant even get another non-inept plumber to go source the part at a plumbers merchants and fix it and the air lock. Grr. So NOT the way I wanted to spend my last week of maternity leave dealing with inept bastard plumbers.

On a brighter note, glad your DD enjoyed juniors Markstretch

[hands dinky a stiff drink]

a non idiot plumber is something i have yet to stumble across dinky.... lots of sympathy and i hope it gets sorted asap. Definitely complain to the HQ about his shocking incompetance though

dinkystinky · 08/09/2009 18:12

Cheers Pink

Fortunately HQ sent the non-inept plumber and rescinded the inept bastard's commands and the good plumber dealt with it all within 20 minutes - hurrah! - though the inept bastard plumber turned up for a lesson in how to do the job properly though he didnt have the grace to apologise for causing a leak and ruining a perfectly good water pump. Probably doesnt help matters that Danny is teething terribly today - 1 hour of screaming this morning before he finally consented to sleep, a 30 min cat nap this afternoon, bottle refusal morning and afternoon and even off his food - most unlike our little human waste disposal unit!

Oh yes Spotty - meant to say Danny slipped off a bed at the B&B after the 5 and a half hour journey to cheshire so I too have joined the bad mother's club. Am blaming it on the silky shiny throw that was on the bed - that and the part the boy is part eel when he wants to be. And DS1 had not one but two pooey accidents. And DH and I argued because I told him to stop complimenting Danny on his eating and criticising DS1 on his eating (or lack thereof) and to complement the good in both of them (DS1 trying new things, eating voluntarily, being tidy etc. as well) - but apart from all that it was a nice break thanks.

Now where did I put that gin bottle again...

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 08/09/2009 19:48

[passes suddenly much emptier booze bottle back dinky's direction]

i think i'm dying a slow death by child abuse; them abusing me, not me abusing them!

one of my boobs is sore and oozing pus randomly, A is getting clingier and grumpier by the day and still hardly eats a thing, dd is exhausting me between lifting and carrying and acting as her personal servant, ds1 is feeling neglected so everytime i stop moving for 2 seconds he's climbing on me, most of the rest of the time he's whinging, A is awake most of the night screaching and puking the last few nights and dp is doing his usual 'I'm so much more tired than you and therefore entitled to be an absolute arse to everyone' despite seeming to have lots of time to sit on his arse and ignore the 1000 + 1 jobs i simply don't have time for.

I feel permanently on the verge of tears the last few days, my house is disgusting and getting worse, most of our clothes are piled on top of the dryer needing dealing with and i'm getting next to no sleep

glad the idiot plumber was put in his plac dinky and even better that your house is now leak free

dinkystinky · 08/09/2009 20:24

Oh Pink - you really are having an uber-shocker at the mo. I vote you get DP to deal with DD's beck and call, get down to the GP to get killer ABs for the pus (poor you), stick A permanently onto the other boob and sit on the sofa watching tv with DS2. And if DP objects, shoot pus in his eye

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 08/09/2009 20:35

thanks dinky, i'm sure it'll all seem brighter by the weekend but right now all i can focus on is all the shite [woe is me emoticon]

am drooling at the thought of chocolate and fig voddy btw... where on earth did you find that?

dinkystinky · 08/09/2009 20:55

There is a shop in west london - which also has a concession in Selfridges - called Vom Fass. Despite the comedy name it is like a candy shop for adults - the fig vodka is to die for but they do all kinds of vodkas, gins, whiskys etc in all kinds of truly amazing flavours... Though am also rather partial to homemade Mars Bar vodka and Haribo gummy sweet vodka (mars bar or Haribo jelly sweets in bottle of vodka and pop it in the dishwasher) - yummilicious!

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 09/09/2009 09:38

wrecked again today, was really hoping ds1 wouldn't want to go to playschool this morning but he was keen to go so had to drag myself up... A is still asleep

PolkSaladLucie · 09/09/2009 12:34

PT - hope things are better today now that DS1 is at playschool.

I second the fig vodka, and also add a vote for rhubarb vodka! Funnily enough we had vodka gummy bears the other day at a friends - they melted down some gummy bears with vodka and then poured it out on a tray and cut it when it was not quite set. Sets into yummy alcholic sweets! Yum is not the word...

Dinky You've had a bad run with plumbers! If I were you I'd researce new, non-inept plumbers now and update your speed-dial. Much better to do these things when you don't actually NEED them than at 4am in a flooded kitchen with a grumpy DH and ratty DSs!

I hate Wednesdays. The mean woman who I work with is not in - good times - but I therefore have to cover her area, and if I get things wrong she shouts at me, so I leave in fear all day! - bad times. On the plus side, M is at Nanny's all day, and our new sofa was delivered yesterday. At 3pm I will be going home to chuck appropriate stuff in dishwasher, washing machine and oven and then lie on sofa watching An Affair To Remember and eating potato dauphinoise! Heaven.

Clarabumps · 09/09/2009 14:59

hello everyone..think i may have last posted when i was about six months pregnany..if that. well here i am..back again! ds is 7 months and i'm beginning to feel the pinch of have two with 18 months between them. how have you all been getting on? what did everyone have and how have you been coping?..is other words is there anyone out there who has to convince themselves that opening a bottle of wine before six pm is socially unacceptable..even with two wee ones. (not every day i hasten to add but today is one of them days!!)
i'm with polksaladlucie...i hate wednesdays. poop!

yummyspottyblueberry · 09/09/2009 16:04

Hi Clarabumps. I would love to join you in the wine and more importantly the yummy sounding vodkas being bandied about but a) I am breastfeeding and can only drink when DS is sleeping through and b) am going on a health kick to lose this baby belly as the 'baby' has just turned 6 mths!!!! I had another boy (Samuel, 2nd March, 8lbs 1), my 2 are 23mths apart and I am also finding it... erm.... 'challenging'.

Should we all have virtually voddy meet ups every evening to comiserate/celebrate our days????

Glad everything is sorted now Dinky - what a tosser that man is

@ PSL's bitch - I HATE work bullies. Hope you enjoy your afternoon though - sounds heaven!!!!

((((Pink)))) You have my complete sympathy! I could have written your post from "DS1 is feeling neglected....." until your face.

We (I) have not slept since Sam cut his tooth on Friday. Harry has also started taking his nappy off at night, despite me poppering/layering up, so I'm changing his soaking bed up to 4 times (any tips on that greatly appreciated).

I have been up since midnight today and had a very sober kids group this morning with me sitting zombied in the corner barely speaking. I feel like I'm literally falling apart at the seams atm! Luckily they both decided to crash for 3.5hrs at the same time so I've managed to get 2.5 hours - broken yet again though thanks to Postmen and neighbours Unfortunately after 5 nights of 1-2 hours a night, it hasn't even scratched the surface and if anything I feel worse.

Oh well, only dinner, baths, bedtimes, Salsa class to get through before sam is up for the night I can go to bed!

yummyspottyblueberry · 09/09/2009 16:04

Oh dear! Lots of 's today - tomorrow I am aiming for lots of 's

Clarabumps · 09/09/2009 16:20

yup..tomorrow is another day ..and all that stuff.
ds 1 hasnt found out he can take his nappy off yet however i seem to be getting the ..is he not potty trained yet from the mil!!grrrr! feel like i'm under constant scrutiny and judgement. challenging is the right word for it..there are days i sit on the sofa at night and say to myself.."that wasnt too bad" then other days it seems to go off like bombs...one thing after another.

thank god you got a few hours at least. i end up like goldie hawn in overboard going "buh buh buh buh" and not making any sense. then people wonder why i'm so scatty? the sleep depravation is the worst. on a lighter note. i have the two of them down at mo for a wee nap..bothwere shattered so i can get a sneaky look at grazia.
