Faith giggled !!!!!! She only did it once, but it was soooooooo sweet! Made my day. I am such a happy mummy today! Hope you are all well and happy too, and babies are sleeping well .

Faith has been over tired today - we've been shopping all day (took older DDs round the toy shops to choose a treat because they've been so good with Faith and the lack of attention!), so she has spent much of this evening crying and has only just gone to bed. Hopefully she'll be a bit more settled tomorrow.

Well I am shattered but I have to stay up to watch the final episode of Desperate Housewives then I'm off to bed.

HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our sleep pattern is getting desperate, Dylan used to sleep from 10p.m, waking at 4am, going back down thenwaking at 7a.m right from day 1, then at about 8 weeks started sleeping through from 10pm to 6.30am, this lasted about 2 weeks then gradually has got worse until last night i was at the end of my tether, he went down at 9p.m, woke at 12, took 2 hours to go back down, woke at 4p.m, went back down at 6, then awake 7. really feel that i gat no sleep last night. i cant think of anything in our routine that has changed. Dylan is bf but has formula bottle at about 8pm as last feed. by the way he is 12 1/2 weeks old.
Any suggestions would be fantastic, especially from you more experienced mums.

tamula · 02/06/2005 09:39

morning all,

could it be a growth spurt making dylan restless? as you've said his routine is evolving all the time, i'm sure this stage wont last long - no help when your knackered - maybe he needs more to eat during the day?

Good luck, i hope things improve quickly for you both

bonym · 02/06/2005 11:30

Hi everyone. BabyD, agree with Tamula that it may be a growth spurt. Grace was doing 8hr stretches at night and then dropped down to 6hrs and seemed extra hungry in the day. Last night she went for 8 hours again (hurray!). As he is breastfed I would try just feeding him as often as he wants during the day - in the evenings Grace sometimes wants to feed every hour but then she is "tanked up" and go longer at night.

norash · 02/06/2005 13:37

Hi all,

BabyD I agree with Tamula and Bonym. I hope everyone else is fine. Kieran and I are doing well.

Went to register him this morning, have all our bbabies been registered?

BABYD · 02/06/2005 14:57

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, ITS GOOD TO KNOW YOU'RE ALL THER TO TALK TO.[SMILE]

tamula · 02/06/2005 18:04

Hi guys,

I was just wondering, do we all breast feed? I do but daddy has been giving Ava a bedtime bottle of Hipp organic since about 4weeks old to give me a break. I give formula as expressing doesnt agree with me and i dont agree with it!

However recently it really does feel that during the day she isnt getting enough, i know when she's practically drained one boob so i transfer her to the other one but recently she's not content with that. I have been putting her on about every 2 hours to increase supply, but i fear its still not enough. So I am thinking of topping up her lunchtime feed with another bottle of formula, but I feel a bit guilty of giving her another bottle of formula

Does anyone else top-up feeds or feel this way? Bot sure if i should just persevere or top-up?!!

Many Thanks

KerryJ · 02/06/2005 19:13

Tamula - not a bf expert myself (Toby also has one bottle of formula a day, at about 7pm), but this website is an absolutely fab source of info on anything related to bf (you may already be aware of it, but if not I'm sure you'll find the answers there). hope this link works!!

KerryJ · 02/06/2005 19:16

Oh, meant to ask - does anyone know if it's possible to change the order of photos on the Photobucket site? The 'move' button seems to give the option of changing the album the pic appears in, but not the order you see them on the page (iyswim?). Not important if it's not possible, just me being anal and wanting Toby's pics to appear in age order!

norash · 02/06/2005 19:23

Tamula I felt exactly the same when I had to top-up Kierans feeds. I was determined to breastfeed exclusively when I had him but he is just too hungry. He just was noot getting enough milk from me.

Put it this way he has about 800-1000mls (4 cartons of formula) a day, now I know I would never have been able to sustain that kind of supply even if I had wanted to, which I did. Mixed feeding now.

By the way where do you buy the Hipp Organic formula? I have looked everywhere as he was having problems with SMA, settled for Aptamil but still would like to try Hipp.

Don't feel guilty, just listen to your baby.

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:26

thanks kerryj,

i will take a look in a minute

with that photo bucket thing, not sure how to move them all about but i found that the last pic you uploaded showed up first, so you could delete all pics and upload them backwards according to age?!!

Seems a bit impractical for them to do it this way but only for us i guess, most people probably do want the latest photo to show first, but to our purpose (age wise) it would be better showing last!

Good luck

norash · 02/06/2005 19:27

I wanted to do thiis too KerryJ, cannot see any obvious way to do it. Let me know if you find out how.

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:28

also kerry, Ava has her bottle at 7ish too, she didnt sleep alot today so she had it at 6:50 and has just gone down to sleep a treat!!

norash · 02/06/2005 19:29

found it

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:31

I've just seen your post Norash, thanks. I'm still undecided but leaning towards giving her an extra bottle a day.

I buy Hipp form Sainsburys, I think Sainsburys stocks them too.

How's Kieran today?

norash · 02/06/2005 19:31

click on account options, then choose the option (sort by: oldest first.)

Who's the clever girl eh!

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:32

Duh!! Tesco's was what i meant to say!!

misdee · 02/06/2005 19:34

i exclusively breastfeed, well have since coming home from hospital. i express milk for when i have driving lessons, tho she doesnt like the bottle. feel guilty when i come back and she is screaming for my boobs. . she was on formula for 24hrs when she was born due to low sugar levels, but i fed her before each feed they gave, so was feeding every hour for a while. i dont want to give formula, and although it has crossed my mind at times when i am feeling low, i just cant be bothered with mixing formula and sterilising bottles. i only express once a day and put the pump in the dishwasher to steralise it. she is going well, even when she appears to have emptied i know there is more milk there, its just flows slower.

He is fine thanks Tamula, been sleeping from 4-7.

Growth spurt me thinks , he seems to be having a long nap in the afternoon then sleeping through.

How's Ava?

popsycal · 02/06/2005 19:43

HI again folks!

We are breastfeeding too....trying to get harry to take expressed milk from a botte and am failing miserably . Need to do it as work is looming. He is still feeding every 2.5 hours but did go for 3 hours today - but spent the last half hour in the car screaming his head off (real tears ). He is settling much better on an evening (asleep now in his cot). But usually only goes til 10-11ish (though occasionally sleeps til 12-1). Then he is still feeding every few hours in the night. I havent had the energy recently to try to stretch him longer...so he normally comes in with me at aruond 2 and feeds as and when.

Which bottle teats are those of you combining breast and bottle feeding using? He wont take avent and I have a chicco one to try out tomorrow.

HAd a dreadful day with ds1 so off for a soak in the bath whilst they are both quiet. Red wine anyone??

misdee · 02/06/2005 19:45

we did get serena to take some milk from a tommee tippe bottle with the nuby teats. they were half price at tescos last week.

Misdee - i'm finding its the slow flow that is winding her up, thats when i swap her over to the other breast, give her 10 mins its the same thing, she pulls away and starts moaning and twisting herself about a bit, if i dare try to just put the nipple back in then it just continues the same. I feel a bit peeved with myself with not being able to give her all that she needs swiftly followed by guilt by wanting to give another bottle

Push come to shove though, i think its best for me to not starve her beacuse i feel guilty

Norash - Ava is doing really well, she didnt sleep as much as usual today, so after her bedtime bottle she has fallen asleep very quickly like a little star!! I'm so pleased! She's trying to laugh and makes these funny gurgling noises and today she was trying really hard to pick up her toy (with clenched fists!!) she was concentrating and huffing and puffing, she did manage it, albeit awkwardly!! When i changed her before i put her down to sleep she caught me with a rogue poo and squirted all over me, her gro-bag, the change mat and our bed!!! Great!!

misdee · 02/06/2005 19:47

how long does she feed each time? serena can do a feed in 15mins now as we are boths 'pros' at it now.

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:48

Hi popsycal, red wine suits me

tamula · 02/06/2005 19:49

Misdee - i think its over in 10 mins but she can stay on for longer about 20mins or so.
