popsycal · 31/05/2005 20:52

same here most of the time
i have been better this week tho...had a bath every other day

tamula · 31/05/2005 21:05

Misdee - thats so funny, not even a splash! The downward spiral of bathtimes as you've had more children is so funny too

Why do i find it so funny? I dont know but I really laughed! I think i'm picturing a sparkly clean frist baby, followed by a near sparkly second baby and a third baby

...

I dont use soap or shampoo either.

Cristina7 · 31/05/2005 21:08

Sylvia gets a bath when her big brother does. This is once every two days or so, depending on how dirty Dominic is, or whether he fancies a bath for fun etc.

I think we are finally getting rid of cradle cap with the use of olive oil and cradle cap shampoo.

tamula · 31/05/2005 21:14

cristina7 i have heard that aveeno works a tteat on cradle cap

tamula · 31/05/2005 21:14

treat even

Cristina7 · 31/05/2005 21:21

Many thanks, Tamula but what is aveeno and where would I buy it from?

popsycal · 31/05/2005 21:52

harry has cradle cap too...taking ages to shift but persistence with olive oil is paying off I think

Hi everyone, its been a while, Dylan has kept me busy recently, he's now 12 weeks and 4 days. His daytime naps seem to be a bit of a prob at mo. he used to sleep for a couple of hours at a time, now i'm lucky if i get 30mins and hes getting really grumpy b4 he falls asleep.
any advice for longer daytime sleeps?
On the matter of baths, dylan is bathed in morning as it seems to stimulate him, every 3rd day as hes always had dry skin.

hello to all the newcomers.

march29 · 01/06/2005 00:22

thanks all for welcoming me.
just gave ds a feed in his sleep. he has been asleep since 9:30 and will now sleep through to 5:30 so i ma quite lucky in that respect.i tend to bath him every 3-4 days unless i need to do it more often but do sponge him regularly.its all breast feeding for this little one he has a strong dislike for the bottle evn if its ebm, brings the house down!!! am having trouble with mixed feeds.

march29 · 01/06/2005 00:23

ds name is yusuf btw

bonym · 01/06/2005 09:23

Oh gosh - it's taken me ages to catch up with all the posts - as it's half term I haven't had much time to get on here recently but dd1 is currently occupied with her karaoke machine so I have a bit of time. Although Grace is starting to get restless on my lap so I may not be long...

Millie 13 weeks tomorrow (Girly)
ds is 9 weeks yestarday (March29)
Rebecca is 10 weeks 4 days (ZoeC)
Ava 8 weeks today (Tamula)
Faith 11wks tomorrow (3mummy)
Harry 12 weeks and 3 days (Popsycal)
Niklas 3 months 1 week and 2 days (Leogaela)
Toby 9 weeks 2 days (KerryJ)
Serena is 13 weeks and 5 days (misdee)
Grace is 10 weeks 3 days (bonym)

Think she may be on a growth spurt atm as feeding more often and slept a lot yesterday during the day. Sadly our nightimes seem to be getting worse. After a few days of 8 hour stretches we have now dropped down to 7 hours typically before she wakes for a feed. Night before last was only 5 and last night just 6. Hope it is just due to a growth spurt.

Grace does have a bath every night - either with dd1 at 7pm or later on her own if she is asleep at 7. I usually then feed her at 9-ish and she goes down for her long sleep. After her nightime feed she usually sleeps 'til 7am-ish. I have been reluctant to bring bedtime forward as I'm worried it will impact on her night sleeps but after reading some of your posts I might try.

Ok, she is now not happy so I will try to get on again later

cristina7, i've not actually used it but as a former nanny i was reccommended it quite alot if and when my new baby needed it. Apparently its quite dear so best to get on prescription, failing that most chemist's should stock it.

norash · 01/06/2005 10:51

Morning all

norash · 01/06/2005 10:54

Oh! by the way Aveeno can be prescribed by your GP.
I just found out that all prescriptions for Mother are free for first 12 months .

Thanks for adding Kieran on the list Tamula.

norash · 01/06/2005 11:49

Tamula just read on another thread that you used to be a nanny.

Did you like it? Are you still taking care of children or would you consider doing so in the future?

I am thinking of childminding, mainly as a way of staying home more with Kieran and also getting him to interact with other children.

norash · 01/06/2005 11:50

What do you think of this? Would you advise it?

Pidge · 01/06/2005 15:25

Kieran 7 weeks and 4 days (Norash)
Millie 13 weeks tomorrow (Girly)
Yusuf is 9 weeks yesterday (March29)
Rebecca is 10 weeks 4 days (ZoeC)

Iris is 12 weeks exactly (pidge)

yuk - no broadband, back to pages taking 30-40 seconds to load ... humbug! And so many posts to catch up on. Have had to skim read.

The journey back from Wales was pretty hard work - 5.5 hours driving, 8.5 hours travel time, and a lot of yelling from Iris, and even our normally unflappable dd1 was losing her rag by the afternoon. Anyway, we made it, and indulged in an extra large glass of wine after packing the girls off to bed, and Iris obliged by doing her best night ever - feeding at 10pm, 4.30am and then not waking till 7.30am. Incredible.

Popsycal and KerryJ - if it's any reassurance Iris was waking every 2 hours, or even every hour from about 3am until last week. The holiday has obviously done her good! Also the only way I could get her to sleep after 3pm was in bed next to me, but suddenly even feeding lying down in the bed next to her wasn't working, so I just put her back in her moses basket and she amazed me by going back to sleep.

tamula · 01/06/2005 15:26

Norash - I've worked in childcare for over 12 years. I loved it, but wanted a step up and a change so begun Midwifery, I done 1 year then got pregnant hence Ava

I considered childminding too, so as to stay home with Ava but where I am situated it just doesnt pay well enough. It does seem to depend on the area you live, ie; Hampstead would be fab, lots of career mums and a preferable wage.

If you do childmind you have to do a 2 day course of some sort and your local CIS (childrens information services) person comes to view your home to see how many children you are allowed and their ages etc...

Personally I'm not certain what I want to do just yet, I am thinking of returning to nannying when Ava's older as a nanny share, the share being with Ava. But nothing's final as yet.

bonym · 01/06/2005 15:46

Back again! Welcome March29.

Glad to hear that most of the babies are sleeping better (including Harry!) - I am nervous about putting Grace to bed earlier but may give it a try as it seems to be working for some of you. Also may try not bathing every night (Grace not me! ) as she has very dry flaky skin on her torso. We don't use anything but water but I guess this could be making it worse.

With regard to the handsucking - Grace had her fists in her mouth within an hour of being born so I guess it must be a comfort thing.

Really want to try to lose about 12lb before we go on holiday in July and yesterday bought the Paul McKenna book - it's just common sense really, you eat what you like but only when you're hungry and you stop eating when you're full. Now why didn't I think of that ? Only problem is, since I've decided to give it a go I feel like I've been hungry all the time so don't really see how it's going to work! I'll let you know how I get on.

Love looking at all the gorgeous babies on the photobucket - keep adding new pics girls, it will be lovely to see them all changing as they get older.

Hope everyone's ok - I must try to check in more often as I seem to miss so much when I don't!

jambot · 01/06/2005 16:28

Lauren has found her thumb in a big way. She doesn't have a dummy so she is sucking away. It used to be quite random as to whether she'd get it in, but now it's firmly in that little mouth. I was a thumb sucker, so she'll probably be the same.
Still waiting for the reflux muti to kick in. She woke up very uncomfortable at 5:00 this morning and wouldn't go back down. Hate those early starts.

shalaa · 01/06/2005 18:01

Am very slow, just noticed Misdee that our babies share the same birthday! Can't believe he's coming up to 4 months already.

Caleb has started holding his rattles!! He shakes them then stares at them, it's like when he first noticed his fists. He also shoves his hands down his throat and heaves away, has started just thumb sucking though which is better. We bathe him every other day and occasionally miss a day!

He's started 'biting' down on my nipple when i'm feeding him, bloody hurts

popsycal · 01/06/2005 18:11

harry has found his thumb and managed to settle himself too sleep by sucking it at one point last night

norash · 01/06/2005 20:25

Kieran is also sucking away. Sometimes he finds his thumb but mostly it's just the fist .
