looby how are you both this morning? It must have been horrible.

momino chickenpox? oh no!

Some new very snazzy nappies arrived for j today, prewashing at the moment, he is going to look supercute in them (one of them is tiger print- he'll look like bam bam from the flintstones!)
Sun is shining here so would like to go out somewhere but my back is really sore so should prob stay in and rest (pushing the pram makes it worse)

sophietom · 13/08/2009 10:18

x-post looby- glad you are both ok- hope you have a better day today

Errrrr

How unpleasant

Belgianchocolates · 13/08/2009 12:24

Can't quite recognise looby in your description, Dodd. Like LaVache put so nicely: how unpleasant. Though I do understand your point about the holiday, you could have put your point across in a much much nicer way.

sophietom I've got a cow print nappy and I'm eyeing up a zebra print one at the mo. Also v. cute.

We're about to to for 2nd jabs. Have to take my 2dcs and 2 nieces with me too.

LaVacheQuiRit · 13/08/2009 12:43

OK I just looked through the old threads, I can't see how Loobs is in any way the reason Polony stoppied posting. IIRC, we were all concerned about Polony when she stopped posing but one of us was in contact with her?

Confused. Anyway off to take poocherella for a walk.

Oh and remaining Guinea Pig has been saved. It was a parasite that had carried off the others, he's been injected and has some cream. He should be ok in a week or so. However, he needs other guinea pigs, so we will find him a new home with some friends

pulapula · 13/08/2009 12:53

Gosh that uncalled for really, and not very nice considering how much looby does for her step-daughter, on top of her job and marital difficulties.

And as for "me me me" posts, I mostly do these but we have a name-check amnesty and noone should feel like they can't post "me" posts when they are feeling down, need advice or want to rant.

llareggub · 13/08/2009 13:03

Blimey. Wrong side of bed this morning, Dodd? You may want to remember the general spirit of mumsnet. Personal attacks just aren't on.

I'm a step-daughter too. You are entitled to your opinion, of course, but I think you should cut her some slack. Things aren't great for her at the moment. Coping with a newborn with a husband who drinks too much is bloody hard.

If Polony really left because of Looby then that really is ridiculous. You can have no more insight into her reasons unless you really are Polony.

ReeBee · 13/08/2009 13:18

I'm a bit speechless and agree with LaVache and the others. Kind of not necessary. I am taken aback by the tone. I hope that we all support each other on here to greater or lesser extents as needed and dependent on our personal circumstances at any particular time. If you see what I mean.

LaVache, poor guinea pigs but thank goodness this one can be saved.

momi re George - I agree with what everyone else has said, give him some time. You have 3 very little ones at the moment and you are bound to feel wrung out and like you're not giving him enough attention. However, I'd refer you to the thread title for advice!! And re chickenpox, how rubbish.

All - thanks for good wishes re jobs, much appreciated.

MIL visit just finished and went very well. She has never been especially maternal and we weren't sure how she would take to being a grandma - DH is an only child as well - but she is besotted by F. It's lovely.

ReeBee · 13/08/2009 13:22

oh, and reggiee - rubbish news; hopefully your physio will help

sophietom re poo. F must still poo at least 5 times a day, if not more (and let me assure you that these poos are generous), so I dread to think what would happen if he went without for 3 days!!!

ladyhelen2 · 13/08/2009 13:32

Blimey. Just checked in to see dodd's post. Agree with everyone. Totally out of order. These threads are here for support and if Looby needs to vent and moan, then she is perfectly entitled to do so. So looby please ignore Dodds comments.

bumbos hmmm had one with DS1 and I must have used it about three or four times. He hated it. I flogged it on ebay and prob won't invest in one for Rufus.

Speaking of whom, is being to get a bit cross so I'd better go and feed him. We're off swimming this afternoon with SIL and 2 of her 3.

llareggub · 13/08/2009 13:35

I've reported it. Hopefully mumsnet will delete it and our subsequent posts asap.

Momino · 13/08/2009 14:38

Just catching up and didn't read dodd's post but can only imagine how out of order it must have been based on what you've all written. so glad it's been removed, thank you llare. looby, I hope you've taken ladyhelen's advice to ignore.

I also agree with Reebee, MN is here for supporting each other.

And agree with Pula, as I said the other day, we should defn not shy from mememe posts as MN is a good place to vent any feelings positive OR negative.

Momino · 13/08/2009 14:46

sophitom, forgot to mention that your poo post made me !

belgian, hope C's jabs are ok and she's not too bothered.

laVache, glad you've got one guinea pig alive. I thought of you when I saw G-force yesterday .

ReeBee, that's nice about your MIL.

Day 1 of chicken pox half over. dd1 in front of telly, dd2 having a nap, dd3 still napping - 2.5 hours now and I'm letting her sleep so I can have a moment's peace (and a sneaky Magnum).

off to tidy up before Harper awakes and needs a feed. ooh. like now! I hear her... how long has she been yelling?

Just back from O's fortnightly weigh in.
Saw Dodd's post whilst lurking at the clinic and was angry and quite upset by it.
Looby - please ignore. We do have a name check amnesty and there's many of us that feel we post "me,me,me". (I know I do!) The spirit of this thread though means that that does not matter. You have had a tough first few months with M and are comming through admirably. Please feel free to continue to offload here.

Anyway, O's weigh in went really well. A month ago he was still hovering just above the 2nd centile and he is now between the 9th and 25th and weighs 12lb 2.5oz. I know this is still not v much compared with some of your babies but I'm so pleased he's moving up the centiles

In laws arrived yesterday. Their christening gown is a knitted gown and hooded cape so I'm currently thinking that we may use my family's gown as it's cooler in cotton and my inlaws knitted cape as the white garment. Just need to get DH to agree.

I iced the cake yesterday and am quite pleased with my efforts as I have never been particularly skilled at that sort of thing. We're using the top tier of our wedding cake.

Bumbos - seems to be a bit of a marmite thing as people I know find their babies love them or hate them! If I can find a cheap one on ebay I may give it a go.

sophietom · 13/08/2009 15:00

llareggub well done for reporting the post- don't know what was said but it's obvious from your reactions that it was horrible. Hopefully the poster will keep away from our thread from now on.
belgian oooo cow print, lovely- you should def get the zebra. What make are they? J's tiger one is an itti bitti- it's gorgeous but looks very slim so I'm not sure how absorbent it'll be

Momino · 13/08/2009 15:02

from my post Wed 12/08 - p16

'just a reminder: a lot of mentions about name-checking - don't worry about name checking everyone. we all understand. it's nearly impossible to do.

also important is to do mememe posts when you need to (happy or sad) - and please do so without guilt .'

felt i needed to re post that in case anyone missed.

llareggub · 13/08/2009 15:09

Hear hear!

Momino · 13/08/2009 15:14

Ses, great news on O's weight gain! also think it's a lovely idea about using the top tier of your wedding cake.

I hope to meet you when you come up to York. We're here in Sep except the weekend of 18-20 when we'll be in Manchester at PIL. Please tell me it's not that weekend.

Febes · 13/08/2009 15:15

Glad I missed the action this afternoon. Well done for the way you all dealt with it. We are lucky to have such a supportive thread. Group hug .

sophietom · 13/08/2009 15:27

I second the group hug (pictures us all forming protective circle around looby and glowering menacingly at the hijacker dodd)

Ses that is fantastic news about the weight gain

pulapula · 13/08/2009 15:31

Sophie- I enjoyed that hug

bumbos- we have borrowed one again - never had one for DD but used it a few times with DS1. One item i would recommend is a play nest/ ring (there are loads on ebay). I think they are great for when baby can nearly sit up- easier than just surrounding them with cushions. And also great as you can just sit baby in it, chuck in a handful of toys and then can reach everything and entertain themselves whilst you do the washing/cleaning/put your feet up in front of telly with a mug of tea

llareggub · 13/08/2009 15:39

I popped out the Mothercare earlier adn Bumbos are on offer. Reduced from £36 to £26 and they had the feeding trays too.

essenceofSES · 13/08/2009 17:00

Ooh I have a £45 Mothercare voucher to spend. I may have to go and get a bumbo and a play nest

That group hug was good for me, hope it was for everyone else too!

Momino - err... yes it is the wkend of the 18th-20th However we arrive on the Thurs evening so don't know if you're around the Fri morning at all?

Belgianchocolates · 13/08/2009 17:02

llare Thanks for reporting that post. Should have done it myself. I'm still wondering why that Polony comment came from. But anyway it's all in the past now. Lets move on with our lovely thread.

ses Hurray for the weight gain. Well done

sophietom I've got an ittibitti pop-in-one I think it's called. It's surprisingly absorband for it's slimness. Mine's red with white polkadots. My cowprint one is a Swaddlebees econappi.

Momino Good luck with the chicken pox. They say the earlier they get it the better, so hopefully none of your los will be too ill with it.

playnest Got one of those too. They are big and take in a lot of space, but yes, great for a nearly/newly sitting baby.

C's jabs went fine. Only took her about 10mins to get over the shock of it. Not looking forward to the last lot though. The nurse told me that that will be 3 jabs I don't think C will like that one bit.

Anyway. Time to sort some dinner.
