Bugger.
No idea, what is silverside? Maybe you can make a pirate ship with it.

muchostinky · 31/07/2009 15:27

MPW slow cooking is best for silverside as it can be a bit tough and too dry for plain roasting...

Hope that you are feeling a bit better though?

I always end up buying cakes in macro - I don't know how I even think we could manage 12 custard danishes! Lol

Ahhh jujusdad - I see all of us lurkers are coming out of the closet (so to speak), herlo anyway..

I agree that 2 is a lovely age most of the time. My DS is getting very insistent about things now if I am not quick enough for him. Like 'more juice Mummy' and throwing his cup in my general direction...
The tantrums aren;t too bad yet, unless he is really tired of course..

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 15:46

2 is an interesting age.

I told DS he was going to have a nap earlier. He said "No nap, I'm a big boy now".
wtf, where did he learn that?!

Yes bloody nap, btw.

Still having contractions but they aren't real convincing. I wonder if it's going to be another 3-4day marathon labour like last time.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 16:01

Muchostinky, how would you slow cook it?

I looked on the internet and they recommend popping it in a slow cooker.
I can do that - does it come out nice?
Maybe with some cider or wime or summat.

Bugger though, I should learn to read, I thought I was buying topside

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 16:02

You have my sympathy. I had contractions every 10 minutes for 3 days before I had DS and they were pretty sore in that they took my breath away and woke me up every 10 mins during the night. No-one told DS that he was coming out through the sunroof . I thought an elective CS would mean no labour

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 16:08

LOL@sunroof

But Norty I am 3 weeks early! I am supposed to go overdue! I ALWAYS go overdue

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 16:19

but you've only done it once before.....so you may always be early and DS1 was the exception?

muchostinky · 31/07/2009 16:20

Yeah with some beer or red wine and veggies, should be lovely.

Don't know how you manage with the contractions though. I had to be induced with Ds and they were bad, but only for 24 hours at least!

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 16:31

You might be right Norty I was being tongue-in-cheek

Muchostinky - ok, so bung hulk of meat into slow cooker with booze of choice and veg for what, 6-8 hours?

All I want really is to use it for a roast dinner and DH can use leftovers in sarnies.

But I have 5kgs of the bloody stuff (£15, ahhh loving the reduced counter) which I hacked up into 1kg chunks. Anyone fancy popping over for dinner?!

Sputnik · 31/07/2009 16:33

Did anyone else register their DCs with the ELC birthday club thing? My mum did it for mine and they sent a CD. It is absolutely dire but DS keeps trying to sing bits of it, it's helping I think with the language (if you count being able to say "munch munch crunch" as a useful life skill).

muchostinky · 31/07/2009 16:40

You could brown it first and it will make it nice and tasty. That long should be fine on 'low'.

Beef sounds lovely - is Birmingham a bit far from you?? Lol

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 31/07/2009 18:36

Hello mucho and jjdad Nice to see some new faces.

We had a fab day out, but it was very tiring. Jamlet exhausted tonight. But very cutely picked her tiger out of her box of cuddlies to take to bed

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 18:41

wtf

how can I STILL be having fucking contractions

30 seconds every 4 minutes

arseshaggingfuckingwankinggrrrrrrr

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 31/07/2009 19:15

Is it possible that you are actually in labour?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 19:19

Jammy... I would say so, yes

Well I am 37 weeks pregnant so I could be, right?!

FrazzledFairyFay · 31/07/2009 19:27

It certainly sounds promising Fury, I hope it doesn't last quite so long this time.

Hello, ex-lurkers. It's always nice to 'see' some new faces.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 31/07/2009 19:38

From my point of view it is very exciting MPW. But from your point of view it is maybe more of a pain in the (front) arse?

Hope things settle one way or the other for you soon.

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 19:43

oh how exciting Fury . Might have to leave the laptop on this evening.

I haven't done the ELC thing Sputnik. Out of interest, how do you teach your DCs 2 languages? Is English their first language?

Glad you had a nice day Jammy

LackaDAISYcal · 31/07/2009 20:04

oooh, fury; fingers crossed for you! If you are in labour, you don't half like doing things in extremes; 3 weeks late last time (I remember all your tooing and froing for monitoring) and three weeks early this time!

I'll be off at about 10am tomorrow, then am incommunicado, so if you can just have the baby by then please, there's a love

I have been trying to get my unused childcare vouchers back....Accor say I can only use it for childcare and I should enrol my children with a (unneccesary) childminder/nursery/after school club/summer playscheme in order to use it up . It's MY money tosswanks. Work said they will pay me and then they will argue the toss with Accor about getting it back.

OP posts:
MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 20:08

accor are knobs.

I just had to go to the loo.

Daisy I will do my best

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 20:09

that's a good sign Fury

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 20:18

going to bed

seriously tired

night all

FrazzledFairyFay · 31/07/2009 20:38

Good luck MPW

Have a great trip Daisy

ValDerRia · 31/07/2009 21:19

good luck fury.

Hi mucho and JujuDad.

have skim-read to catch up and now hav to get the poppets to bed.

of the broads daisy, and love the nappy name.

back in a bit...

LackaDAISYcal · 31/07/2009 22:05

norty, we are taking two cars as DH has got all his fishing gear and it just won't fit in my car. He gets petrol paid for by work so it's not costing us anything to do it otherwise it would be a serious cull of the fishing gear!! We've also taken the seats out of the back of my scenic and it is still full to bursting.....would it be overkill to have a roofbox as well . good thing about it is the older two are going with DH and it'll just be me and bumble with a bit of live lounge, the killers and take that for company. Hopefully bumble will sleep all the way.

Have got the cars mostly packed, just toiletries and cameras/chargers to go tomorrow, but we haven't cleared out the bathroom yet....I can see that getting swept into a bin bag tomorrow morning and sorted out when we get back...to our nearly but not quite finished bathroom

I'm done in for this evening though.
