My (useless) GP always told me no, despite me asking several times, she said that it was always projectile in reflux, which it never has been with E (except when he's ill). He just opens his mouth and it pours out, under his neck and around his back and collects in all the noooks and crannies of the car seat / high chair whatever he's sitting in. Yes, I agree about babygro's. Eventually though I had to start putting normal clothes on him and we have masses cos I can't keep up with him . I also have 24 muslins.....

TheNatty · 30/07/2009 22:07

yes norty i have that many lmao, i have to put them under his head in bed/carrycot/bouncy chair!

i would take him to another doc, with a video of it happening (if u cant catch it on film)
infant gaviscon works wonders apparently.

www.babyreflux.co.uk

has great info on it, have you raised him cot on one side?

charlie doenst have any outfits just babygrows!
we have one lovely velour outfit from daisy that i stroke, but if i put it on him it will get covered in sick..

LittleMissNorty · 30/07/2009 22:10

Thanks Natty - will take a look. Isn't 6 months a bit late to sort it out? Won't it go away naturally? He never seems particularly upset about it, or in any pain....and his weight gain is good so heathcare people just switch off.

JuJusDad · 30/07/2009 22:28

TheNatty - If I read you right, your council's benefits section are saying that they've overpaid you £1k on the basis that tax credits also overpaid you £1k.

However, tax credits have decided that they want their money back, and the council's decision is retrospective - ie based on information which has since been recinded (sp? shouldn't use long words after alcohol).

So what you're saying is the council's decision that they've overpaid you is based on wrong information from tax credits.

If that's correct, they'll have an appeals procedure. So just take anything from the tax credits which shows that they've since re-decided / calculated your award into the council and make a statement about it.

This place might help you decide who's right about what you should've been paid.

HTH

TheNatty · 30/07/2009 22:30

yeah i have that problem, cos he is gaining well they dont want to listen.
but me having to feed him constantly cos he throws up all the time is (IMO) an issue from an exhaustion pov, for both of us.

by 6 months if it WASNT reflux i would have thought he would have grown out of it.

only reason i would have it checked in your case, some people have to have it fixed (small stitch in osopocus (sp?) )
my friend had to have both her boys treated. and as he is weaning, and 6 months, and STILL having a problem maybe a bit of gaviscon could make all the differance?

JuJusDad · 30/07/2009 22:33

d'oh. FrazzledFairy already answered. And far more succinctly. Must read threads properly.

TheNatty · 30/07/2009 22:33

thanks jujudad

TheNatty · 30/07/2009 22:35

sorry jujusdad!

dont lurk, we dont bite
assuming from your name, would be good to have some dads perspective on here

JuJusDad · 30/07/2009 22:45

No problem, TheNatty.

And I'm happy to hang out with you guys, as any support and / or guidance for me and my DD is, as far as I'm concerned, a good thing

Sputnik · 30/07/2009 22:56

Ooh, another de-lurker. Nice to meet you Jujusdad

LackaDAISYcal · 30/07/2009 23:16

helloo jujusdad ....another lurker and a man to boot; oh the excitement......

norty, the condition that natty is talking about with the stitch is pyeloric stenosis. One of my Nov chums DS had it and had the op to sort it.

It certainly sounds like it is reflux. Have you tried gaviscon? My friends baby had really bad reflux and the back seat of her car was pebbledashed with puke as it was always bad when he was in the carseat. she didn't gaviscon as it's a faff when BFing, and was told it would get better when he weaned, but it didn't. iirc it was well after a year before it did and it was giving up formula that seemed to be the turning point for her.

My DS1 (in retrospect) had reflux and puked his way happily until he was 9months old. I've since read that there are two types of refluxy babies.....happy pukers who thrive like my DS1, and scrawny screamers.

Is this the same useless GP by the way?

Natty, i see what you mean about the money....and hope that you get it sorted.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 30/07/2009 23:26

Hey Daisy, less of the booting, you'll scare him off

Come to think of it DS always puked as soon as you put him in the carseat. New seemed bothered, he must've been a happy puker. DD was an unhappy non-puker.

Right, I'm off.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 08:16

Hello JuJusDad!!

OOOH A LURKING MAN!

LackaDAISYcal · 31/07/2009 08:46

Aw fury; never mind; twill happen soon enough

Not sure about the knowing you're in real labour though; I was still playing scrabble online and denying I was in labour until about half an hour before my waters broke.....I thought I had a UTI as I kept needing a wee, but when I got upstairs I couldn't sit down...

thank goodness I had a doula or I might never have made the decision to get to hospital

right, ass in gear; stay and play followed by tidying and packing (and buggeryfart some ironing ).

"dodododobedo....dodododobedo....we're all going on a summer holiday, no more MN for a week or two"

OP posts:
MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 08:53

lol Daisy

Although given I went 3 weeks over with DS, and my AN appt they told me I was light years from being ready and that I could expect another overdue one, I think it's fair to assume that anything this early is not real

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 09:25

DS had 2 bowls of cheerios at 7.30 and is now having his 2nd slice of toast. I think he might be having a growth spurt.

LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 10:12

Morning

Hello JuJusDad ....how long have you been lurking with us . Its soooooo nice when people de-lurk...so, is your DD your first / only ? Whereabouts are you?

DS had his milk out of a bottle this morning which you squeeze to get all the air out of, and I had assembled it wrongly.....and me and him got covered in 9oz formula

Can you buy infant gaviscon over the counter? Think its probably worth a try (having been covered in breakfast an hour after it was eaten today and DS already on 2nd outfit of the day)

JuJusDad · 31/07/2009 12:24

DD is my first, her mother's second.

Me and DD are in Northants. DD turned 2 last Friday, hence looking on this thread. Her terrible twos are beginning in earnest - tantrums are becoming quite something. But she's still pretty easy going and generally very well behaved.

I've been off work for a while, so MN has become an addiction somewhere to chat to other parents (esp lone parents like me), and find out stuff. As well as have a laugh, and occaisionally offer advice or suggestions.

I've joined the "Dad" websites, but they're, erm, not the same as MN.

And the occaisional bit of flirting is very welcome to my ego... (and you definately don't get any of that on the Dad sites)

Sputnik · 31/07/2009 12:43

You know what, I think 2 year olds get a really bad press. Ok they throw tantrums (DS has taken to lying down and banging his head on the floor) but in between they are really good fun. I love all the learning to speak/sing stuff, or when DS runs headlong at me and gives me a hug.

JuJusDad · 31/07/2009 12:56

Oh, yeah. Very true, Sputnik. My DD has been on the verge of words for a while (fortunately they teach signing at her nursery), and it's only very recently that she's been saying words.

And even better than that, whereas I used to have to ask or even steal kisses, (and even then only get about one a week ), I now get about one a day

LackaDAISYcal · 31/07/2009 13:24

there is a small band of Dads on here JuJusDad but I assume you've found them already?

MN isn't like any other parenting site ime....it's sooo much more than parenting and has more wit and intelligence than other site. I assume Dad's sites are all about talking cars, lawnmowers and past conquests and stuff like that?

I like two year olds as well Sputnik, and for every hideous tantrum there are hours and days and weeks of loveliness and fun. DD has realised pertty wuickly that she gets no attention for tantrumming and they stop as soon as they have started these days.

bumble is definately moving . he can commando across the floor, but only for worthy bounty like mobile phones or remote controls; he doesn't do his bestest party trick for any old plastic tat!

disaster averted here; thought DD had left her favourite dolly(a grotty nekkid thing from the charity shop) at stay and play and I couldn't get anyone on the phone......but one of the family outreach workers has just called to say that she'll drop it off later this afternoon . The thought of two weeks of DD shouting for Bingo-Baby was too much to bear.

Good to have you on board JuJusDad

I agree 2 is a fab age....I get so many "duddles" at the moment its great and her little brother adores her.

and we had a rendition of Happy Birthday this morning at 6am, so I can only assume it was someone's birthday at nursery yesterday

6 months is a pretty good age as well....

Go Bumble.....mine is rolling across the floor.

Where are you going to on your hols Daisy?

LackaDAISYcal · 31/07/2009 13:44

The Broads Norty

DD loves singing happy birthday and often just burts into it for no reason. she was standing looking at DH the other day and when he asked her if she was all right she just launched into it very cute. It's DH's actual birthday tomorrow so we are expecting her to sing it all the way to Norfolk. She will be in DH's car, not mine though.

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 31/07/2009 13:49

on a boat? Hope the weather is good . Why are you taking 2 cars? Can you not fit 3 DCs in? Or too much stuff to take?

Oh dear, DD has just learnt the word bollocks

MakkaPakkasWilly · 31/07/2009 14:06

OH for fucks sake.

I decided in my wisdom to go to makro and bought a ton of stuff, but I seem to have buggered myself up doing so, and now I have to go to the sodding pissing hospital for a CTG.

Arseknobwipes.

I have to wait for DH to come home though.

Still having pissing sodding contractions.

I bought 5kgs of silverside. Please someone tell me it's a decent cut for roasting?
