Ponymum lol about the baby monitor!

Carriebo really sorry about your friend. YANBU, by the way, but think apologising for giving the wrong impression if you can bear to is probably a v good move. Even if she feels she's been a bit unreasonable, it'll make her happy and that's always nice. But definitely stick to your guns re the coach - it's a v different thing to a bus into town at 10 miles an hour.

DG presumably you never got your acupuncture?!

foxytocin · 14/08/2009 09:07

all fine at chez foxy. we are off to spain tomorrow and i have loads to do today in prep.

dd1's last day at nursery today. she (or maybe we) made banana bread, raspberry jam (from our own raspberry bushes I planted 3 yrs ago) and good bye cards for the 2 carers in her room. No not a domestic goddess. the house looked a tip by the end of that.

today I still have last minute shopping and packing to do in addition to dropping them off at nursery to get everything done.

ninja · 14/08/2009 11:55

Have a good time Foxy.

We're off camping today and OMG how much stuff?

Please keep your fingers crossed for good weather and quiet neighbours!

Carrie I'm sure a card saying sorry but ... would go down well. Sorry to hear about your friend

digitalgirl · 14/08/2009 14:16

DG waves at all those off on hols, Have Fun!!

hopefully no, never got my acupuncture, nor that brazilian and pedicure I'd booked in for my first week off work. Funnily enough I wasn't thinking about the state of my lady garden in between contractions.

carriebo No YANBU.

Right ladies, am wondering about how long to leave it before doing an HPT. Cycle is all over the place (but am currently late if I go by last cycle's length), have been cramping on and off for about 4 weeks now. I don't think I am and hence not bothered about a BFN, but if I am then I should probably be doing things like taking FA and not gobbling huge plates of liver and onions that my mum likes rustling up for dinner. But HPT's are so expensive and apart from the persistant cramps I don't really have any other symptoms. WWYD?

ninja · 14/08/2009 14:31

wow DG you should do it now and tell us !

If you're going to do one, do it this weekend so your DH is around (not 10 mins before he's due for work like I did last time).

DebiTheScot · 14/08/2009 15:19

what does the H in HPT stand for? Oh is it home?
I think you can get them really cheap on ebay digi and they're fairly cheap in supermarkets.

DS2 has started saying what sounds very like 'what that?' when he points at things. Can't decide if its just a noise or if that's what he means though.

Hopefully · 14/08/2009 16:53

DG I wouldn't be able to resist getting a cheapo 2 pack of boots own. After all, there's a second one for next time if you're not...

DP and I have officially put off TTC until December, as I don't want to jeopardise (sp?) my new freelance contract by falling pg immediately. Silly really, but I know I'll get replaced if I'm pg (I know the person giving me the contract and know how they'll react), and a lot harder to prove as a freelance than as a proper employee!

Walked for 2 hours today, felt all virtuous and skinny, but ended up in waitrose for food shopping and bought a pack of Gu caramel and chocolate covered flapjacks, which are nearly all gone now.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/08/2009 17:18

Just a quickie as we are off on our hols tomorrow and I need to pack.

Take care and see you when I get back

Pacita · 14/08/2009 18:15

OMG DG. You must find out immediately! The tension would be killing me! It is already killing me vicariously! How exciting!

Pregnancy tests are 2 for £1 at Poundland...

I've stocked up a bit as not noticing you're preg for four months once is merely misfortune, but doing it twice would lead to enormous amounts of piss-taking...

digitalgirl · 14/08/2009 19:38

hmmm....wonder if they'll have them at the 99p store near me. Am too busy tomorrow, maybe Sunday. Or maybe my period will come and put an end to my 'am I, aren't I'. Is there anyone else who's periods have started who is still breastfeeding morning and night, having irregular cycles?

Perhaps they'll be irregular till I completely stop breastfeeding.

CarrieBo · 14/08/2009 20:06

DO A TEST DG and report back here as a matter of urgency, crikey we need some good news!

Well, I apologised to bridezilla for my tone, and a parking space is being arranged at the village hall for us (apparently there really is absolutely no parking on the lanes in the village). Otherwise dh will have a quarter of a mile walk from somewhere suitable (er, ok, that's like 5 mins...). She also sent a lovely email about who to see at the reception for warming baby food, and where there is a room we can take the kids to if they need a break. It seems they have thought of the kids a lot for the reception, just not at all for the travel.

My friend has got internet in the hospice which is brilliant

Debs75 · 14/08/2009 20:30

DG do a test now. Savers and Home Bargains do them for about a pound. Friend used them when she thought she was pregnant(she was) and when it came back positive her dp went to Boots for a 'proper' one to make sure. He spent 15 quid and the result was the same.

Have been doing DIY all day and have decided that I am CRAP at it. We are redecorating DD1's room and she wants a Gothic feel to it. Got her a gothic bed which looks great but the candy pink carpet looked a bit naff so are putting down some stone effect lino which meant boarding out the floor. Well I can't saw in a straight line. The boards are huge so we struggled for ages getting them up the stairs. And her door won't close over the board and lino so we had to go buy a new one and find some one who could fit it tomorrow. If she has no door the ds will be in her room all day trashing things. Also we are in a coucil house so the doors aren't standard size.
My head is buzzing with all the stress and I need a big bar of choccie to calm down.
On a happier note we have our new computer which is loads better then the old one and we have a nice newly strimmed garden.

Robyn is standing, well trying to stand, all the time. She can't hold herself up at all so she hangs off us but it is all she wants to do.
Has anyone elses LO had another growth spurt? She has become seriously addicted to boobie these last few days and is always hungry. She is eating solids really well and takes a few ounces of water a day but nothing beats her booby juice.

Ponymum · 14/08/2009 21:00

digi Sunday? You're making us wait until Sunday? We need to know now!!

Happy hols to everyone who is setting off.

DD has started standing up on her own. And when I say on her own I mean literally on her own in the middle of the room, not holding on to anything. It looks hilarious. One moment she is sitting on her bum, then she kind off squats and then just pops straight up on to her feet. DH said it is like watching three stages of evolution in a split second. The funny thing is she is not really interested in the more conventional method of pulling herself up holding on to things.

foxytocin · 15/08/2009 05:48

Ponymum, dd2 did/does the same thing. then she started to put both hands straight up in the air and shout yyyyaaaaaayyyy!!! WHICH I SUSPECT SHE LEARNT FROM ME. oops sorry for caps. i think she beat dd1 at walking by a couple weeks as she was also a v early walker.

she is also proficient at row row row your boat and knows when to scream.

now whenever dd1 doesn't want dd2 in her hair she helpfully leads her to whereever i am though i draw the line at helping her up the stairs

they are so cute together. normally dd1 puts dd2 on a ride on car and pushes her around the house. yesterday it was the other way around. dd1 sat on the car and pretended dd2 was pushing her around.

they are learning to play with each other.

yesterday was dd1's last day at nursery and the nursery took some lovely photos of them together in teh garden playing row row row your boat and dd1 helping dd2 walking.

sorry must stop bragging shut up now

foxytocin · 15/08/2009 05:51

looks like i'[ll have to wait till i return for the pee stick result.

CarrieBo · 15/08/2009 13:21

Grrr, ds keeps being sick. Yesterday we were out at a NT property and he ate his lunch, then about 10mins later while sitting on my lap brought the whole lot up again, all over my hands (which were holding a flapjack I'd just bought ) and into my lap. Of course I'd brought a change of clothes for him. His dinner went a similar way, then he woke up early and drained a bottle of milk, ate loads of breakfast...then brought up his lunch. He was still sitting in his chair so it all pooled in the tray and I poured it down the drain. I don't think he's proper ill, he has a bit of a temp but it could be teeth? It annoys me that lumps make him gag still, anyone else's LOs do this?

CarrieBo · 15/08/2009 13:23

Also in the news my friend got a written apology from the practice manager about the breastfeeding thing

Meglet · 15/08/2009 13:48

Glad your friend got an apology carrie.

Well, my rotten news is that dad does have prostate cancer and it has gone to bone cancer . But he has got his warped sense of humour back and was saying he'd better not die before Xmas as my stepmum writes all the Xmas cards early and she won't be happy if she has to re-write them all . They both sounded quite relieved yesterday as they had been worried for weeks. He is seeing an oncologist in 2 weeks to decide on treatment as apparently they can control the cancer. So another wait to see what happens next, will keep you posted.

dg how exciting. I don't know how you can wait, I used to have a stash of pg tests in my house all the time as I had to know there and then!

Hopefully · 15/08/2009 15:48

Meglet so sorry to hear about your dad - hope they can manage some control of the cancer with whatever newfangled treatment he can get.

Carriebo glad your friend got the apology.

T is rolling all over the place now, but still no interest in crawling! He did about 1mm of commando crawling a few days ago, and was panting for ages afterwards

Foxy how lovely that the DDs are beginning to properly play together.

Oh god, T has developed a fascination with my flip flops and I've just realised he is sucking one.

Pacita · 15/08/2009 18:24

Meglet, so sorry about your dad. If it's any consolation, I have always heard the medics in my family say that prostate cancer has got a very good prognosis when treated. Healing vibes your way.

DG have you done that test yet? We are all holding our breath and we will turn purple any minute.

Hopefully, fascination with shoes here too. And let me tell you, Diego started crawling two weeks ago and I really wish I hadn't agonised so much over it. He is now a mini 8 richter scale earthquake. Exhausting!

digitalgirl · 15/08/2009 20:27

So sorry to hear about your dad meglet but did you say the docs think they can manage it with chemo?

Well am not pg, bought but haven't done the test but don't need to as I think I'm yet to ovulate. I think dh is secretly relieved (despite his full involvement in the potential baby-making). Sorry all!

Pacita · 15/08/2009 21:48

It's ok, DG - perfect excuse to keep trying ;)

OP posts:
Pacita · 16/08/2009 19:04

Ladies, I really really need to buy another car seat for Diego, as he looks like he's travelling folded in two inside a bucket.

Someone posted a link some time ago to a youtube video of a super safe and cool looking seat that had like a strapping mechanism in a roller coaster. Anybody remember what it was called? Or alternatively, could anybody recommend a smallish seat that will fit and strap in inside a rather small, crap and old car?

Thanks!
