HAPPY BIRTHDAY barbs hope you have a lovely day xx

ellie will text you!

Phee96 · 07/09/2009 11:41

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in so long. I hope veryone and their lo's are well. Thank you for not forgetting me

Daisy I don't have anyone from this thread on fb yet but if anyone wants to add me I'm j o a n n e d a b b s.

Well, I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and there is no sign of morning sickness going. Sometimes its 20 times a day and sometimes its nothing. Baby was well on scan, never stopped moving until it came time for the picture when it rolled over with it's back to us and wouldn't budge. Got a great pic of the back of it's head lol

Unfortunately, DH lost his contract almost two months ago now and hasn't been able to find another job. We are almost out of savings and arguing about if I should return to work full time for a while.

On a happier note, Ava is progressing well. Very physically strong so standing, squatting and climbing now. She seems very close to walking too. She still has no teeth whatsoever and has now decided she doesn't need more than two hours sleep at a time. She napped for 30 minutes out of a 15 hour period yesterday! I'm almost at my wits end.

She has just woken up now so I'm going to get her plaing with her treasure backet and try to catch up with the thread

LackaDAISYcal · 07/09/2009 11:53

Hey to DW and Phee good to see you both and to hear that you are OK phee; there has been much specualtion about you and worrying that you were OK. I had horrible MS with DD; it didn't go until well past 20 weeks. not nice at all. Sorry to hear about your DH's contract and I hope he gets something soon.

sorry about the broken nights yorky and DD wanting only you. fingers crossed it'll get better soon.

We have had a hideous weekend full of maungy whinging children. I was all set to pack my bags and go this morning, as it started again as soon as we got up . but, DS1 back at school so all quiet and just me and the littlies bodding around the house.

vbab has been on fb over the weekend, but I haven't caught up with her personally iyswim.

aargh DD upstairs and up to no good....later xx

coolkat · 07/09/2009 19:33

Hi Ladies

Nice to hear from phee and DW. DW we never did meet up at Fosse park!

Sorry to hear your weekend was not very good Daisy. We did not do a lot as I was tired from work and playing catchup! -and-- was also hungover

My working week starts tom. Getting myself in a tizz about food for Becca again as past 2/3 days she has not been interested in food, unless its Yogurt. What do you do? Give her Yog or leave her?

Yorky sorry about your bad nights. We have slight improvement....

Glad your back safe Rosa.

Chocgal glad your appointment went well. Good news about DH's job, sorry about the commute.

Have a nice week Ladybuzz. Weather looks good for this week.

coolkat · 07/09/2009 19:33

Oh and Barbs HAPPY BIRTHDAY

londonboots · 07/09/2009 20:24

hey coolkat - maybe i have missed a previous post about b's eating, but m went through a stage of only yogurt - realised later it coincided with teething and the coolness was probably nice for him. could it be that? phase 2 of teething he at a few different things as long as it was straight from the fridge - yogurt, pieces of melon (esp. watermelon which is his favourite) and ella's banana baby brekkie which he loves - yogurt with rice (but yog consistency) so a bit more filling.

Ceebee74 · 07/09/2009 20:38

Happy Birthday Barbs - hope you have had a good one

Will try and catch up tomorrow

LackaDAISYcal · 07/09/2009 22:25

coolkat, all three of mine have gone through various phases of either only eating one thing, or refusing a previous favourite for a while, so I wouldn't worry too much. bumble doesn't want to eat much at all when he is teething. I'd give her the yogurt, but keep offering other foods first; she'll eat them when she's ready

chocgal if your HV thinks you are a fool then she is a blithering idiot imo. did she actually tell you that you are wrong? you have my sympathy on the eczema front; We are martyrs to it here with DD. Were they expecting more improvement from the kidney scan?

LackaDAISYcal · 07/09/2009 22:26

and for the third time today.......as I keep posting and then realising I'm a fool...

Happy Birthday Barbs; I hope you had a good one

chocolategal · 07/09/2009 22:38

coolkat I have another one who only eats yoghurt when teething! Normally only lasts a day or 2. Goodluck at work tmw.
daisy yeh the HV said they shouldn't be getting night feeds past 6 months. I just said I wasn't prepared to let him scream through hunger and she said he wouldn't be hungry!?
I think they thought the kidneys would be normal by now. I think they will continue to monitor them but as long as he is well no intervention will be needed.

I'm watching the twin towers thing on ch4, those brave brave firefighters

LackaDAISYcal · 08/09/2009 00:33

chocgal, your HV is clearly a LOON . IMO if they wake looking for a feed, they are clearly hungry or thirsty. different if they have been sleeping all night and then start waking, but even then, they might be having a growth spurtor feel particularly thirsty.

Next time you see her, ask her if she's ever got out of bed for a drink or a snack? orwhether she denies herself as she clearly can't be hungry or thirsty during the night

I've just finished watching the twin towers thing on 4+1 . That was the day I found out I was (unexpectedly) pregnant with DS1 and was inconsolable enough that day without all the stuff going on in America. I remember being numb and thinking what sort of world I was bringing a new life into.

right it's waaaaaay too late. bed.

Yorky · 08/09/2009 07:18

Is it one of those where were you when... days? Your thoughts were a lot more philosophical than mine. I was working as a nanny/au pair/cheap childcare for a couple who ran a pub while I was at uni, so had spent the day without the TV on in blissful ignorance. When I got in my flatmate said something about the twin towers were down and it must be the only time football has been the first thing in my head - I thought he was talking about Wembley!

Anyhow, last night was DSs best in a little while - not a sound between 8-610! DD, on the other hand....

I stopped feeding DD when she woke at night because she was waking so often, I now offer her water which she sometimes drinks and sometimes pushes away. Sometimes she does look for the boob but I don't fed her between her 10pm dream feed and 6-7am ish breakfast

Hope you had a good day Barbs

Well if we are sharing stories, me and DH were on holiday in Fuerteventura and had gone back to our room for a siesta after lunch and put the TV on - this was about 2pm Spanish time so I think the second tower had just fallen. It came on to a Spanish channel and it was showing the footage of rubble and people staggering around it - we just assumed it was a film until we started flicking through all the channels and they were all showing the same footage. Ended up watching CNN and got the full story I can't watch anything about it as I find it just so so and emotional.

Chocgal agree with the others that your HV is talking crap Some babies just do need feeding in the middle of the night (some, like Yorkys, are just looking for comfort) Follow your instincts and ignore her Great news about the kidneys.

Coolkat am sure it is teething - Hamster also has days where he seems off his food but as soon as a yoghurt appears, his mouth opens wide

Right, am I underfeeding Hamster? Am a bit worried now as I was out with friends yesterday and one of them has a boy exactly a month younger than Hamster - anyway, his mum gave him a whole fruit puree for a starter, an entire jar of Stage 2 baby food and then some chopped up banana - this little boy is tiny aswell. I was a bit as I thought Hamster had a good appetite but I have never given him an entire jar of baby food in one go - and certainly never given him 3 courses!! What sort of quantities are you all giving your babies?

Hamster has 1 weetabix or 3/5ths of an adult-sized portion of ready brek for breakfast - sometimes he finishes it all, others he doesn't. He has a snack mid-morning (couple of breadsticks or a few carrot puff crisps or something like that with some milk in a sippy cup) then half a jar of baby food/1 pot of the Plum stage 2 food for lunch followed by a fruit puree. Another snack in the afternoon and then tea will be a slice of toast or a large ricecake with cheese/philly/puree spread on it followed by a little yoghurt. He also has 2 bottles a day of about 7oz each time. Does this sound about right? Or am I underfeeding him?

LackaDAISYcal · 08/09/2009 10:51

Got my kit today Yorky , but All that lovely fluff and I can only look at it

Yorky · 08/09/2009 10:59

You're missing the point completely daisy - you can sit and look at it, with other people, AND TALK ABOUT IT FOR HOURS!!! [GRIN]

LackaDAISYcal · 08/09/2009 11:17

yorky. I think I'm going to take the itti bitt to bed for a cuddle. Of course I'm now wondering how I can justify buying one of each of the nappies that I don't already have so that I can actually talk about them like I mean it.

I can feel a nappy clear out coming on so that I can fund some more nappy purchases.

I've got my first "gig" tomorrow and am very nervous, especially as some of the nappies I have no clue about!

Yorky · 08/09/2009 11:45

Ask away!
I have done pretty much what you are thinking of and collected the nappies so I can talk about them from experience - things like the large lollipop popper wrap seems bigger on DD than the large velcro one etc. Good for weekends away etc as I have a silly amount of nappies, but on the downside it means we have a pretty good mixture of innards and wraps and boosters and inserts and poppers and patterns and DH hasn't got a clue when it comes to putting them together!

I shut DS fingers in the car door when I dropped him off at nursery today I only saw his little hand reaching for something in his sister's footwell as I pushed the door, He did that horrible silent whole body tense thing when they don't know where to put themselves to get away from the pain But after cuddles and carrying into nursery he was quite distracted by the toys (thank goodness he's just moved up a room and its still a novelty!) and had to be prompted to show the staff his poorly finger.

Yorky · 08/09/2009 11:46

You do know about the nappy library don't you? You only buy them all if you're nuts

Nice to see you Brian aka DrsWife (oh how I miss your wit)and good to see you Phee - sorry the morning sickness is so bad, I can relate to that. Lets hope it eases off soon and doesn't continue all the way through.
Happy Birthday Barbs
Is Pinky off on her Haven hols now - if so hope its a good one.
Soory to hear of trapped fingers yorky, oh ouch !!!
Ceebee, M does eat alot. Alot more than Hamster. But this is easily solved for you. I mean if Hamster isn't a natural gannet, like M unfortunately is, no need to push him. He is happy and eating well, isn't he. Is there a reason why you are only offering the half jar ? why not up that to the whole and see how he gets on. Problem solved.
M went to toddler group this morning. stimulated by the older children. zooming around on a v-tech walker. I tell you this kid is going to walk soon, I swear. Much much earlier than ds1.
See you later.

Oblomov · 08/09/2009 13:48

Talking of wit, hope Rutho is doing o.k.
And Vbab. Do you think medication has kicked in yet and she is feeling better ?
Haven't seen either of those around for ages.

juanitad · 08/09/2009 19:54

ceebee, that sounds about the same amount that P eats. He just doesn't have a massive appetite, and maybe Hamster doesn't either. I wouldn't worry too much about it, so long as he's happy...plus you've got a sleeper, he doesn't get hungry at night, so it all sounds good to me! Good luck at work next week. Day 4 here and its going ok, but I'm knackered! P is too, he's starting to sleep better through exhaustion!!!

Ceebee74 · 08/09/2009 20:02

Obs thanks for your advice - I only give Hamster half a jar because that is all he wants. Occasionally he has finished his portion and still seems to want more so I have gone and heated up the rest and he has finished it but I can probably count those occasions on 1 hand. How is the work thing going? HAve you had your meeting yet?

Juanitad I know you are right that Hamster probably doesn't have a big appetite (although it is still so much bigger than Ds1's ever was/is ) I was just so surprised at how much food that little boy was putting away yesterday!! Glad work is going ok - nursery/CM is just great for tiring out the babies isn't it? Hamster was so grumpy when I picked him up today as he was shattered so he was in bed asleep by 7.
