Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh I see, the tops she is wearing in the fb pics. Thought I was missing some fab new nappy then!

Perhaps I need a lie down? LoL AM such a dolt.

Hi all

Just realised that the previous thread had fallen off my list of threads I'm on.

HKZ, good luck with the applications.

Lenni, wow at working in San Francisco. I love that city. I really want to go again next year, but I'm not sure how realistic an idea it is.

Tree, or anyone else near enough, we're coming up to Ilkley for a week at the end of August/early September - Saturday to Saturday the week which starts with a bank holiday. Our childminder is going away for 4 weeks starting then, and the toddler/activity groups will have started up again when we get back, or that's the plan. But I wondered if you're around, if you fancied meeting up in Leeds or Bradford (we can get there by train).

I'm ashamed reading about all of you by quite how much TV ds1 is exposed to, though nearly all of it's CBeebies, or when I was pregnant, the baby programmes on Discovery Home and Health in the mornings. But he's recently taken to being read stories again too, and we normally go out quite a lot at weekends, though not today. Yesterday Danny and Conor were invited to my second cousin's 5th birthday (the birthday boy's mum is my dad's cousin though she's actually a little younger than me).

Will send this before I lose the message, apologies for cross posts.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/07/2009 14:19

they would be pretty cute with stripes.

LenniEd · 12/07/2009 14:24

MMmmm, stripey ittis, yum. Have forgotten my former self, hope to find again soon.

Elkie - I am around that week and Leeds, or indeed Ilkley would suit me fine. Let me know closer to the time when would be good for you. Am vaguely hoping to go away somewhere for a few days in Sept, but doubt that it will a) actually happen and b) be the first week.

treedelivery · 12/07/2009 14:29

I'm up for it! Although I am at Solfest the last week in Aug so I couldn't come then obviously.

I was in Leeds yesterday for dd uniform buying frenzy. Oh I so so so miss it. It's only hour and half on the train - but it's £28 return! Cheeky buggers.

treedelivery · 12/07/2009 15:38

Dd has been woken by an ambulance siren, she has a sore botty and a spot on her chin. And a glare. Bless.

SparkleandShine · 12/07/2009 16:17

lenni / stripey - there is a tiger stripe itti lower down on this page

ittis for £11.59 each here

LenniEd · 12/07/2009 16:45

Should I confess to owning a tiger stripe itti? It's nice but it's not all that. My favourite is the pale blue one - matches DS's eyes. But I also melt at the chocolate one.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/07/2009 17:07

i have ordered a lime one and a fuschia one as well, because i want them to cover slow washing turn around. i will miss the orange rockmelon one, but can't in all conscience justify buying one in every colour. i note that you can also now get black ones, this is presumably for any baby goths out there...

dp has done a bit of derisive snorting on this issue.

treedelivery · 12/07/2009 17:10

Rofl at derisive snorting!

Am sooooo poor but sooooo want a brown one...

Now tbh, I was a bit underwhelmed by my spotty red. I like it, but the fabric isn't as strokable as the plain colours. Doesn't stop me wanting a blue spotty I have to say.

LenniEd · 12/07/2009 17:10

I do like the rockmelon orange one - we have turquoise, dark blue, light blue, orange, purple, tiger stripe and yellow in large and I am in process of aquiring a couple of secondhand Blueberry side snaps to add to my dalmation one. DS is a very colourful bottomed baby at the moment.

LenniEd · 12/07/2009 17:12

Yes - the same thing about the tiger one Tree - it isn't quite as lush as the coloured ones.

I forgot my brown one in my list. That means I have 8 ittis oh well, he poos a lot now he's weaning.

treedelivery · 12/07/2009 17:13

Was thinking aboout bluberry sidesnaps today and how I want another.

Oh you are not helping me to be good at all!

LenniEd · 12/07/2009 17:14

Secondhand is the way to go I think - sell the ones you don't use and buy ones you want. That way you aren't outlaying much and extra good for environment.

Although I do love the feel of a brand new nappy they aren't nearly as absorbant.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/07/2009 17:23

i feel okay about my six, soon to be eight (nine if you include the bumgenius which ithink she is only now big enough to comfortably wear) - only two new, sold six small ones and having spent 4 weeks using disposables only, know exactly how much rubbish we won't be creating. so, you know, [smug emoticon]

elkiedee · 12/07/2009 17:30

There's a dalmatian print nappy? Is that an Itti? We can get vouchers towards real nappies here to try them out though they don't pay for as many as you'd need to use them full time.

moosemama · 12/07/2009 17:32

A'ernoon all

I am a stripey junkie too. Didn't know until I had children as stripes and a chest and bum my size just do not go.

My boys have stripes in every width and colour combination I could possible find, my sister once commented that she didn't think she had ever seen them not wearing stripes (that was when I finally accepted I had an addiction ). Ds1 is in a rather fetching teal and black number today whilst his brother is sporting red and white. I love the boden striped tops with appliqued pictures on. Ds1 has a great skull and crossbone on pale blue and white stripes that he looks stunning in.

We have been at a 5th birthday plague pit Wacky Warehouse nightmare party all afternoon. OMG it was like a sauna in there, both boys ended up looking like boiled beetroots with nasty, soggy sweaty hair. Dd did her usual job of making all the mums broody by smiling and giggling her way through the whole thing despite not having slept since 9 am this morning.

You are all really tempting me to have a go withsome washables now. Just followed SAS's link and nearly has a shopping accident. Just discussing it with DHand he agrees its a good idea, especially with a once-every-ten-days pooer. (Although that will probably change when weaning gets going.) Just need to get my head around what we want/need. Think we will do a mix of Moltex disposables and some washables at first.

moosemama · 12/07/2009 17:34

blimey - took so long to drool over those nappies type my post I've been left behind again!

stripeywoollenhat · 12/07/2009 17:37

the bluberry nappies - what's so good about them? they cost more than i am really willing to spend on nappies (despite the rather obssessive seeming nature of my posts today)

stripeywoollenhat · 12/07/2009 17:50

moose, your boys sound really cute in their stripes... i have several stripey woollen hats, myself

moosemama · 12/07/2009 17:58

Ds2 greeted me the other day in a pair of silver spaceman dressing up trousers with no fewer than 6 cuddly toys stuffed down them and a red and white striped bobble hat a la Where's Wally! It was the hottest day of the year so far and he is quite clearly bonkers!

Mid you, what with my stripe obsesion and DH's hat obsession the poor kids don't stand a chance!

I went to kiss him goodnight before I went to bed last night and had to extract a giant penguin, a huge fluffy dog and three teddy bears from inside his pyjamas! Why?

moosemama · 12/07/2009 18:01

Oops! Just noticed how terrible my typing has been. One handed here with dd finally asleep clinging to my front like a little baby monkey.

EachPeachPearMum · 12/07/2009 19:13

lol- you all sound soooo addicted to cloth!

am snorting at stripey's hats and moose's ds2

glad dd is over the colic tree

I have been dairy free completely for 2 weeks- and there is a definite improvement in ds' skin... his nappies aren't better though- still watery yellow poo (sorry tmi) but not acidic anymore or foul-smelling so good news.
However- not sure how much longer to hold off weaning (he's 23 weeks tomorrow)- he is feeding a lot more- having 2 feeds in the 'night' plus a 10pm one [grrr] and seems very very interested in what we have- even drinks. He isn't sitting by himself yet though, and I thought that was the key....?

treedelivery · 12/07/2009 19:23

Well done EPPM, it's not easy is it?

I'm having a pizza tonight and I know there will be a foul nappy, rash and probably gripey sickness in 24 hours - to some extent. Still having the pizza though............

It's research!!!! I'm seeing how far I can push her, poor thing. 'raw' milk in large amounts is a big fat disaster, so cream, milk on cereal etc. Jury out on cheese in a product......

Another day with no solids here. AH well. She is just way too grumpy and has hardly bf either. Is anyone giving vitamin drops?

Moose - dd1 does things like this! They are soooo cute, she thinks she is so funny. She comes down with knickers on her head and both legs in a sock, laughing her head off. Bless em!
