hi

glad nye ok

mm - shame delivery not today
hope u have something to eat

hongkongzoe · 10/07/2009 14:00

Miss J, glad Nye is ok. When Jude was about 8 weeks he was admitted to hospital with wheezing, bad cold, cough and given an inhaler. His cough only really cleared up in April /May, but haven't had any problems since. I didn't use rthe inhaler in the end because it seemed so big and he was so little (which is stupid, I know, but I just couldn't..[hmmm]) Hope he's feeling better, its so scary. My GP rushed us off to hospital and we had to wait for hours, the feeling of helplessness is awful. I think you really start to realise that you posess this ingrained maternal protective instinct at times like this.

Moose LOL at wrong day, I did thias last week and rang up Sainsburys and complained...The lady just said, 'I believe you delivery is for the same time tomorrow Miss. HKZ!

Right, end of lunchbreak...missing my babies, better do some work!

Hi all.

Glad all has settled Miss J. Scary for you. x

Waves to all.

treedelivery · 10/07/2009 18:30

Some nice things in tree land....

Had a manicure and pedicure at discounted rate today. A good friend did it and i unloaded a load of worry onto her about dh etc. Harriet chuntered alot but it did me good.

Tomorrow is a big day - pfb uniform day. We are taking the train to Leeds [my natural habitat] and going to Harvey Nicks to get a beauty counter to stick some lip gloss on us - dd1 loves sitting up on the stool and looking at all the colours etc. Then big marks & spencer for uniform and girlie lunch out.
Train will be 1.5 hours each way so that will be lovely too.
Leaving Hats with dh, so just me and Jess like old times. Am actually a bit achey to spend time with her, sounds odd but true. I just want to soak her up with no distractions. Will bring workbooks and a boardgame. Happiness!
Train £24, so will have £25 to get her pinafore, tights, socks and blouses and lunch - will be a challenge but hey ho. Will bing drinks and snacks etc.

Going to bed soon to be rested for it! DD1 already there, she was off preschool today as she is mega tired.

Have to have her re weighed at end of summer as she has out on 500g ina year Hopefully growth spurt on its way!

stripeywoollenhat · 10/07/2009 19:15

tree - hope your day in leeds is lovely, and that you get some sleep tonight

lenni - ittis have arrived, many thanks. will post a pic of them in their new habitat on fb tomorrow. i particularly like the purple one. and c has a really nice brown sun dress which will be perfect with the brown one. (i do feel slightly silly for being so excited about nappies, but clearly am not alone in this particular silliness...)

oh, sounds like she has woken up. more anon.

treedelivery · 10/07/2009 19:25

Oh for a brown itti...............drool.....

PatTheHammer · 10/07/2009 19:43

Hi,

tree day tomorrow sounds lovely, always wanted to go shopping in Leeds as its a place I've never been and am curious. Lucky you with the manicure etc, my feet need a serious seeing to soon!

stripey Nappies sound v.cute. As are the pictures of C on FB using her highchair tray as a trough! I noticed today that Zach finds steamed babycorn really easy to hold and eat, same for green beans, strawberries and cherry tomatoe halves. Also cheese is really easy to eat if you are not going the dairy-free route.

moose LOL at the tesco's order, that so sounds like something I would do. I am always getting my days mixed up. Bit easier now I am at work as I have to write the date on the board each day . hope you found something to eat!

MissJ Glad Nye is ok. How scary for you. I hate hospitals with young children its so stressful and seems to take forever. DD also had a mask inhaler thing because every cold used to go straight to her chest from about 9mths onwards. She hated it! Still has suspected astmha at 3 years but they are loathe to diagnose it whilst lungs developing. A persistent night cough is also a sign.

DD was poorly today but insisted DH take her to playschool as it was her sports day. They rang at 10.30am and asked him to bring up some calpol as she got hot again. He offered to take her home but they said she was fine to stay as she seemed better straight after meds. Even won the sack race . Did feel bad that she would be passing it on but they insisted it was ok to DH. He only came 3rd in the parents sack race and was mortified by all accounts!
The DC's behaved very well for Daddy today but when I got home the house was a TIP!!!! He was sprawled on the sofa watching sport and had not cleared up the lunch things (not good when doing BLW). Still the children were clean, fed and happy so not bad for a first attempt .
He is now moaning about being knackered the poor lamb .

stripeywoollenhat · 10/07/2009 19:48

it is a lovely chocolatey brown...

so last night, c slept from half past midnight until eight o'clock this morning!!! we are pretty much reeling with shock. and i am sitting here with a delicious beer, and dp is cooking salmon, and we are going to watch a film. it's not sociable, but it is more or less adult...

qumps · 10/07/2009 20:15

LOL Stripey. I was walking to Richmond today and thinking of the old life when I actually used to go out at the weekend and the joy of taking 2 hours to get ready. 2 minutes without a toddler tipping my bronzer on the floor or a baby chewing my brushes would be nice!
MissJ gosh that must have been awful. Hope Nye ok and you have a good night. for other poorly little ones. My 2 are full of snot but seem fine, except DS1 refusing to eat but he's not a great eater anyway...
Not much news here. Had a nice day going for a big walk along the river, a bit of shopping and the park. Something for everyone!
Ooh got bargain pair of shoes for DS1 today. All Clarks trainer things half price so £7 bargain!

qumps · 10/07/2009 20:16

Sorry forogt quick question. S cutting back hard on his milk as he loves the food so much and has never really been keen on the Neocate. Any ideas of how to get the fats into him as we are dairy free? Blood tests being repeated next Wednesday and haven't gone down the dairy substitute route.

missjackson · 10/07/2009 20:19

Wow stripey, that is AMAZING - do you think it's linked to FOOD? If so, I am going for it.... Enjoy your beer and your grown-up evening

tree your mani-pedi sounds wonderful - and good luck for shopping trip tomorrow.

Pat LOL at DH being knackered.

I finally got around to ordering my ittis today - got some of the limited edition polka dots and tiger stripes so we are looking forwards to trying them out - got large so they might be a bit big though. N is over 9kg though, so there would be no point in going for mediums.

He's a lot better but refused to take much of the inhaler - little monster worked out if he held his breath while the mask was on, he didn't have to breathe in the strange stuff! It was too much of a battle to persevere and his wheeze seems better today. We all went out riding this afternoon which was lovely - the first time N hasn't slept right the way through it.

missjackson · 10/07/2009 20:21

x-posted with you qumps - god yes, I remember those heavenly 2 hours to get ready for a party. But can't help with milk question I'm afraid.

moosemama · 10/07/2009 20:24

Hi all,

DH brought me a horrible shop bought sandwich for lunch in the end - twas icky but filled a hole.

Have been working on getting dd to feed in the normal cradle hold as she has always fed rugby ball style, but is just too long for it now (have run out of cushions to put behind me now ). She's taken a day or so to get used to it, but now seems to think it is absolutely hilarious and whenever I go to latch her on she is taken with an uncontrollable fit of the giggles. Its really cute. She seems to be growth spurting at the moment though so feeding more often than usual as well.

I thought I was run down, but now I have proof - I have a huge stye on my eyelid. I've never had one before and it flippin hurts.

Good news about the sleeping stripey. Have a nice grown-up evening.

Tree good to hear you sounding a bit brighter. Your day out sounds lovely, hope you and dd1 have a great time.

Pat glad dd was able to go to sports day, well done her for winning the sack race while she was poorly - obviously gets her sporting prowess from Mummy rather than Daddy then!

treedelivery · 10/07/2009 20:40

Jeez - dd's have plenty of TKmax sugar pink flowery numbers. dd2 is in a green dress right now and where she has dribbled has run into her vest - really green! She sucks her clothes so am a bit at the thought of what she has been taking in!

Hi Moose. I hope the cloud has passed, I'm now at the 'tears for no reason with no warning' stage - beats the rage and also the misery stage.

dh giving dd2 some sweet pot as he is on his own tomorrow so prob best he has a go before the big day Its late but she seems hungry and game so what the hey.

moosemama · 10/07/2009 21:01

Hi Tree, I'm pretty much at the sudden floods of tears stage too. Not helped by one humdinging row with ds1 after school today that left us both great big sobbing heaps. Friends again now though after we had a talk and I made his favourite tea (macaroni cheese).

Have ordered lots of nice organic veggies for dd to start munching on next week. Got sweet potato, butternut squash, new potatoes, baby corn, french beans, mange tout, broccoli, parsnip, carrots, avocado, apples, pears, bananas, strawberries and melon. Looks like our family is about to go on a health kick now she's going to be sharing our meals. She will be 6 months on Wednesday 15th and 26 weeks the day after that. Think I will start her on some roasted vegetable wedges as they are easy to hold and nice and sweet and mushy inside.

PatTheHammer · 10/07/2009 21:21

moose fruit and veg sounds lovely, I have found the roasted wedges go down really well. Plus they are delicious and healthy for me too, always a bonus . boo for the stye sounds painful. How funny about your DD, I have never mastered the rugby ball hold personally, think my babies always too large!

tree sure your DH will be fine. Mine just about managed with 2 today. Sorry to hear about the tears .

MissJ LOL at Nye being a monkey with the inhaler. Ride sounds lovely.

Stripey Yay for sleep!!!! Zach also slept well last night and much better since it turned cooler. Maybe they are just coming out of that difficult time mentioned in the wonder weeks around 24-26 weeks?? Film and a beer sounds great. I'd kill for a beer .

qumps Oh to have 2 hours to get ready to go anywhere. about 10 mins max at the moment! My nephew drank very little milk from 6 months but he wasn't dairy free so had loads of cheese, yoghurt, milky sauces and puddings. Plus some supplement drop things from the feeding specialist. If you have a good HV they may be able to advise you. I know from 12 months they are more concerned with replacing the calories and fats than getting milk into them. Threre must be alternative ways of getting the appropriate fats and proteins into them as quite a few babies are milk intolerant.

moosemama · 10/07/2009 21:53

qumps is your ds ok with soya? I know some people with dairy intolerance are sensitive to soya as well.

We used to give ds1 soya yoghurts. Alpro do smooth ones, banana and strawberry or peach and pear. Ds1 would have lived on them if I'd let him. Also soya spread such as 'Pure' on toast. You could also make 'white sauce' to go with fish or veggies using soya milk.

Alternatively, oven roasted veg drizzled in olive oil would add good fats to his diet, as would avocado and oily fish.

treedelivery · 10/07/2009 22:23

How about a spoon of hemp oil in anything that is the right texture to take it. Hemp oil or hemp seeds are my answer to everything, it has the right balance of essential fatty acids........stop yawning at the back!!

chefswife · 11/07/2009 07:06

Great new title for the thread. We had cucumber at the beach the other day and DD loved it. The only thing so far she wasn't to keen on was carrots. This week for dinner we did celery root and leeks.

I can only imagine how frustrating hospital waits can. I've only ever been once for myself... I was twelve and wonder how easy would it be to put my fist through my bedroom window. Apparently, very easy. 5 stitches in my hand. I don't remember having to wait though.

Last Wednesday was my 19th anniversary and DH got me a spa day... 1 hour massage, mani and pedi. i was gone for 4 hours! It was heaven. Then he cooked multi-course dinner that was fantastic. DD was so good. Didn't even miss me. She was excited when she saw me though. It was the sweetest thing. This was the first time I'd been away long enough for her to notice. She is 7 months now! WOW. Today she used her pointer finger and thumb and concentrated and picked up her Cheerio and put it in her mouth. It was awesome. She was getting frustrated about not being able to get them in her mouth before. She has supper grabby hands though. I can't go to the grocery store anymore with her in the carrier... she grabs at everything I come close to. Yesterday at the coffee shop, I was putting in my pin number and woosh... water everywhere. She grabbed a vase full of flowers. She wanted the hot pink gerber.

chefswife · 11/07/2009 07:23

qumps Avocado is great for good fats. I've just tried hemp milk too with success. Its chalk full of goodness. Not sure where you get it in England though. I was also thinking about days past today because DD is sooooo whiny today. Housework that use to take an hour now takes the whole day due to interruptions. Oh well. I should suck it up.

moose lol at DD with the giggles. So cute.

We had a lunar eclipse this week on the full moon which is likely why everyone is out of sorts. I was on tears today too. Feel better now though... but DD has been sleeping for 3 hours.

rrrayray · 11/07/2009 08:30

Hi all.

Lots of nattering going on as usual

Moose Wow, sounds like rather a faff with the windows. Hope it all gets sorted soon & there is money in the kitty!

missj Esme had a wheeze when she had a cold about 6 weeks. It really is more alarming sounding than it actually is. Did the doctor tell you to steam up the bathroom? That REALLY Eased it for Esme. Hope little Nye is better soon.... i am at them making you wait so long with a BABY!

Hkz Lol @ Cumcumber!

Just about to pack everything bar the kitchen sink...well almost... we're off down to my parents for a week as OH off on pre season tour!!

tinkisback · 11/07/2009 08:47

missjackson · 11/07/2009 10:50

Wow tink, wish I was your DD1 with all those lovely presents!

ray have a good week with your parents; bet DH will miss Esme. Have tried the steamy bathroom trick but strangely doesn't seem to work in our new bathroom, perhaps because there are wood floors which might be soaking it up?

MM all that veg sounds great.

hkz it's shocking how long they make you wait at hospital isn't it? They had this poster on the wall about supporting breast-feeding mothers, but we didn't even get offered a cup of tea. If they had told us at the start that it would probably take a few hours, at least we could have prepared for it. Must have been really scary at 8 weeks though.

chefswife your anniversary sounds heavenly - what a lovely DH to organise that for you.

tree yey for hemp oil - I like it on salads.

pat looking forwards to next week if you are still up for it? Have pencilled thursday afternoon but let's fb. We have a 'teddy bears picnic' with mum & baby group in the morning!

N is still a bit wheezy but managed to get a couple of puffs on the inhaler down him this morning. Now off to my Mum's for the rest of the day.

SparkleandShine · 11/07/2009 10:58

stripy where did you buy your ittis from? I've found them at £12 is that the best price?
