Great news Tree!

stripeywoollenhat · 22/07/2009 19:15

thread keeper of the blocked ducts here...

tree, glad about your mum's partner

dog, gld isla's okay and to hear about jumperoo. c is still wholly overexcited by hers, i always think of the bridge on star trek when she's spinning around in it busying herself with the various twirly things. i think some of you are under the impression that she is standing on several copies of the yellow pages - in fact, it's a one inch thick book about the irish civil war, which has now also been chewed slightly by her cousin...

i do think that a kick back from the makers of jumperoos is in order to whoever got the first one on this thread, since we now all have one, it seems...

spink, boo to sf. hope you and rosie recover soon

treedelivery · 22/07/2009 19:25

Stripey - funny post. Lovely mental pic of the chewed book. Mine is on 3 yellow pages.

I was thinking you could be keeper of the stripes, surely not another blockage? Or is that a historical reference? I hope so!

Someone here certainly needs some £££ from fisherprice! I thin it was Moose who first got one?

Tell me who and I will email, I think 6 of us have one now? Thats got to be worth a voucher?

Still waiting for out holiday details from Plum.....am a bit have had no response actually. You'd think they'd want to follow it up!

qumps · 22/07/2009 19:25

Great news Tree, must be a huge relief.
Pat S very constipated when he changed onto Neocate and his poos are still like little rocks now You can buy Lactolose at the chemist which is a very mild laxative and thye can have 2.5ml a day. For some reason I always find Teetha makes mine poo too. I am sure I read on the box that it contained some lactose but I possibly dreamt that...
Moose S has been like that for a few days and it is very draining. Back to taking him with me when I go for a wee. His big bro used to be enough company but not anymore.
Dog as they are both in bed and sleep is on the horizon I can speak to you again!! Was that without any night waking? What is your secret?
HKZ 2 weeks! OMG! I am so excited for you and of you and Ray. I would love to do it all again, to dh of course. Princess Diana memorial park is amazing and free. Of course nothing beats shops museums though
Moose gutted for you at night out. They don't come about very oftnn so you at least want them to be fun when you get the chance. Avocado a firm favourite here too. S has managed to eat banana himself without vomiting so may well try him on avocado slices too, as at the moment its mashed. He has also managed rice cakes today so we are making progress. My mum is so funny and can't watch when I give him chunks of things to eat, as she panics, especially when there is vomit everywhere
Kitty agree be very proud of yourself. I am in awe of you for getting to 6 months as 8 weeks felt like a lifetime to me. You have done a fab job. From me at 8 weeks to friends at 1 year, whenever someone stops its hard and there is guilt but unless you plan to do it for ever you have to stop sometime!!
Mmmn thread maker name.. will get back to you. Someone has to be nappy queen though tough competition!
Had a lovely chilled day with most adventurous thing a walk to the park. Feel like it was just what was needed. S hard work all day though and rash still there but still no temp. Have been sticking the thermometer in his ear all day so of course ds1 wants a go and I have to have a go too. The only one with a constant temp over 37 is me! Anyway showed rash to all the mums in the park, which is clearly as good as going to the doctors, and we all agreed that without a temp is harmless. Also not sure if I mentioned it but think S is allergic to wheat now too, as well as dairy and soya, as has come up in the same eczema blotches as before. So as no idea why as there is no history of allergies in the family and also really hard to know what to feed him. Lovely MN poster called mummypig has given me some great recipes though for when he is bigger but I am struggling with carbs to fill him up. Also he is really cutting back on his milk and much prefers water, so although I add it to everything, I am worried about his calcium levels.
Sorry turned into epic moaney post. I am actually in quite a good mood!

qumps · 22/07/2009 19:31

Really want in on the jumperoo action but have a distinct lack of room for anything else. I put away the playmat with the dangling down things, bouncy chair, the donut sit in thing (useless waste of money other than for the cats) and the breastfeeding support being used to stop S falling over. However puppy calling (possibly the most annoying toy in the world?), the vtech bike that has the voice of a dodgy man and musical kick toy taking up vast amounts of space. ANd don't get me started on ds1 scooter. Its always in the way and I have numerous bruises on my ankles when 'really fast mummy' happens too close.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 19:32

We don't have a jumperoo! Not fair, no room in our tiny cupboard house.

Oh my poor deprived dd. Ah well, she has Ikea stacking cups

Dd is currently in the kitchen munching carrots and broccoli with her daddy and brothers (they have macaroni with theirs though). Am feeling a bit of trepidation about her next dirty nappy now. (That's green as in 'yeuch' not as in envy by the way!)

Glad Isla was ok Dog.

treedelivery · 22/07/2009 19:32

We are going to be gltuen free here so will be using rice flakes, millet and quinoa for a filer upper if thet helps?

moosemama · 22/07/2009 19:43

Millet porridge is nice - that awful Gillian woman from 'You are what you eat' has lots of millet and quinoa recipes.

We also have a great book called Optimum Nutrition for Babies and Young Children which is also good for those sorts of recipes. Some of the 'guidelines' type of advice is out of date now but the boys really like a lot of recipes and they are all really healthy.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 19:50

Just found the Act Against Allergy website. They seem to have a lot of weaning advice on there.

PatTheHammer · 22/07/2009 19:52

No jumperoo here either, never really needed one as he sat so early and not much point now as he is crawling, much more interested in getting DD's toys/bits of fluffand dirt from floor and electrical flexes
Also like moose, house never really big enough, that will soon change though......yay!

moose I have just done a gross nappy before the bath where there was a tiny bit of poo and then spied the rest up his bum. Few leg pushes later and 3 great big logs came out Bit like a poo dispenser . Z loves broccoli so I'm sure DD will love it. Avocado, all fruit and sauage all firm favourites here. Only cabbage he doesn't seem to like.

qumps boo to gluten, soya and dairy free. It will be a pain but if beneficial then it will be worth it too! thanks for the tips, will pass onto SIL.

tree great news about mums partner.

DD has her fave cousin sleeping over at mums tonight, in the same room......no sleep for us then!

PatTheHammer · 22/07/2009 19:55

dog poor Isla and poor you! Hate it when things like that happen, but lik you said, Arlo probably wasn't doing it intentionally. When they are involved in a game they sort of forget the babies are real little people and not just objects!

moose meal sounds nice, shame about the arguement. Crumble sounds lush, mmmmmmmmmm!

moosemama · 22/07/2009 19:55

this site has some nice organic weaning products including millet porridge etc.

They have a 'Specialist Ranges' section which includes 'gluten free' and 'allergy aware' products.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 19:59

Ooooh I want some of these, so cute.

I could easily have some serious shopping accidents in that shop!

PatTheHammer · 22/07/2009 20:01

moose I have used that site and they are really good. They do nice spelt biscuits/pretzels etc. Highly recommended.

stripeywoollenhat · 22/07/2009 20:01

tree- are you oat free too? we are going to avoid gluten for a few more months but will give her porridge if she'll have it. i think oats don't contain gluten?

and sadly, yes, blocked ducts still an issue here... had one all day, just cleared. she is very distracted when she's feeding at the moment and i thnk is not draining the breast properly. v annoying, but at least i am developing an expertise in unblocking them now...

moose, i meant to say bum re night out, it's not like any of us have them to waste on other people's crotchetyness...

qumps, that puppy thing has joined my list of Things Which Will Not Be Entering This House. i am already a bit 'argh' about all the crap toys which are strewn all over the house

wasn't it rray with the first jumperoo?

moosemama · 22/07/2009 20:06

Pat eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

We have just banned my nephew from sleeping over in the same room ever again. Ds1's behaviour has been beyond the pale this afternoon and evening. Hope your sleepover goes better than ours.

Dd definitely likes broccoli (also ds1's favourite food) but is quite obviously in two minds about carrot. Pulled some interesting faces, spat it out, put it back in, spat it out again, in - out, in - out, etc then finally swallowed it.

LenniEd · 22/07/2009 20:25

Got as far as just before Qumps post on this page and going to have to post as brain about to melt with all this information.

Spink Sorry about SF but good to hear from you. Hope you're all better soon.

Can I claim the first jumperoo? We are using DD's for DS. DD never went in it much, not the right kind of baby.

Poor little Isla - and on the sleep.

Stripey What do you do? {intrigued]

Argh! Brain melted prematurely.

Tree Good news on MRI.

I want a name

DS crawled today is also growth spurting up 3 times a night this week [sleepy mummy]

Right, will read more.

Yay for Dylan crawling, and I won't mention what a nightmare it now is to get zach's nappy changed, he just gets up and buggers off mid-change!

dog am tempted to stay till sunday evening just to see you.................well it is my special thing on this thread to meet everyone don't you know

Hello Dog! Awww, thank you. Thankfully our stair gates a permanent fixture due to the dogs. He's been fairly mobile for a couple of weeks but crawling actually slower with all the collapsing - for now at least. Only been away since yesterday evening - trying not to MN during the day, it consumes my life otherwise

Stripey Boo to ducts, much admiration for keeping going with it.

I'll confess to having eaten a whole chocolate orange today now I've read about Tree's trifle.

stripeywoollenhat · 22/07/2009 20:37

lenni - it's normally a tiny speck of dried milk that's blocking them, which (tmi for the squeamish, maybe) i can normally see if i stretch the skin at the tip of my nipple taut, and then treat like a splinter... it hurts but normally works. when it's hard to see them, if i squeeze slightly to epxress some milk, one of the ducts will usually only release a clear liquid instead of milk, and that's usually where the blockage is.

hmmm - thread keeper of academic achievement? thread queen of the ittis? thread jumperoo originator? i'm not very good at this naming lark, am i...?
