Afternoon all, feeling much better today...unlike DP who is a little worse for wear after his stag night last night, and he got in at 1! Light weight!

Quite a few people we know have come down with the SF. It's worrying, but I don't think there's much you can do to prevent it apart from being vigilant about hygiene, and if you live in central London you can't exactly avoid large crowds either! TBH I think the media, as usual, are responsible for a lot of OTT irresponsible scaremongering.

Spink Glad the move went well, sorry to hear you guys have been struck down with the dreaded SF too, hope you all make quick recoveries. Someone was saying (Elkie I think)that the NCT website had lots of advice and info about BF and SF and medication.

Kitty Sorry you're feeling guilty, you need to do what you think is best for you guys. I tried BF in morning and at night and my milk dried up, I felt sad about it, but TBH it was quite nice to have my freedom back and wear normal bras again [completely selfish emoticon] I guess you could try giving the BF and if she doesn't take it have a bottle on stand by. You've done really well, just a few days shy of six months!

QUmps Its two weeks on saturday...eek!...and its consuming my life at the moment! Where abouts in London are you? Meet up would be good, I've never taken DD to the Princess Di garden, is it good? There's tons to do round there, lots of shopping museums.

Stripey I grew up in the country too...was lovely but a little restrictive as we got older, was glad we moved nearer to a big town by the time I hit my teenage socialising years. I'd like a balance between country/city, maybe a small city like Cambridge or Brighton or NewCastle, or a giant country house by the sea...one or the other would be fine C sounds fab, like everythings going on for her at once. DS was 6 months yesterday and is slowly getting htere, he's sitting now, but nowhere near crawling.

Dog 9a.m.! Have a good time at friends Pat.

So where are we going to meet up? Bali is my favourite suggestion so far...

Am trying to muster up the energy to take DD swimming at the local lido...its not happening so far, maybe a slice of banana cake will help...

Ray, and all. The way to manage the IL thing is to ask them to unload while 'I just nip and do the baby' [hide in the bathroom for 45 mins pretending to change and feed]

When they have umloaded the bumf they will virtually stampede to Argos for supplies.

Is Birmingham sort of central?

OOOOo! We could meet at Alton Towers Water Park and take our babies swimming! As long as I can wear a tent Or Nottingham Centre Parks - they do day passes.

I don't mind where we meet, they are all miles off anyway, so an hour here or there no woriies, as it will be a 4-6 hour joint whatever happens. Unless you all come north

Kitty - if you want to try and get a few more breast feeds in you might need a babymoon and skin to skin, ans also feed in a darkened quite room. If you want to let it wind down then don't feel bad. They all stop sometime, and you have done an amazing thing Be proud!
ANd don't get into the habit of feeling guilty, its a pita to break and puts the gloom on everything [speaks as one who knows].

I have just eaten a chocolate mousse that had 6 serving in it. Sort of supermarket trifle size.
Off to read properly.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 14:55

Hi

Only speed read and not managed to pick up much.

Glad to have you back Spink. Sorry you have SF though, hope you all make a speedy recovery. Do you have the whole gammut of symptoms or just a few?

Dog great about the good night's sleep - I shall say no more for fear of jinxing you.

Qumps, pleased the aqua pod is good. Haven't had the cash to buy ours yet, hoping to get one next week though.

Thanks all for not scoffing at my post yesterday. I am aware that I sounded quite, quite mad. Am a bit about it really, but at the same time it really shook me up.

House feels back to normal, we all had a good night's sleep and dd's alarm hasn't gone off once, so all's well that ends well. Still very sceptical, but things definitely seemed to improve after mum did the house cleanse.

We are loving the BLW! Dd is going great guns and most of it seems to actually be going in rather than to the dogs, who look more than a little disappointed. She had banana and avocado slices yesterday for lunch and 3 baby rice cakes, carrot sticks, broccoli and mango for tea. Today she has had banana, melon, avocado (she can't get enough of avocados) and cucumber. I kept giving her another few slices when the highchair table was clear, thinking she would have had enough and just chuck them about, but noooo, she just kept on eating, I can't believe how much she puts away, poor thing must've been starving!

Was out with the laydeez of the family last night for a meal. Unfortunately, the food was good, but the company had all fallen out with each other before they picked me up, not much fun. Was home before 10.30 and not a drop of alcohol passed my lips. My nephew had a sleepover with the boys as well and that didn't go too well. The two older ones (7 and 8 yo) were still awake at 11.30 and poor ds2 took himself off to sleep in my bed in tears as he was so tired and the others were keeping him awake. I have just put them both down for some 'quiet time' now in the hope they may fall asleep as they have been vile today due to overtiredness. Ds1 was most unimpressed and had a full scale tantrum when I told him he was having quiet time. (Remind me again, why was I desperate for the holidays to begin?)

Dd is really clingy at the moment, think it must be 6m separation anxiety as she cries whenever I leave the room, or sometimes when I just step away from her. She won't be held by anyone but me, (and sometimes dh) screams if even my Mum tries to hold her and sobs if anyone new talks to her. Its such a sudden turn around in her behaviour, as she was always such a sociable girl and was even lovely with strangers while I was in town on Monday. My poor sister loves babies and they usually adore her. She is really taken with dd, but dd was having none of it, dsis couldn't even look at her without her screaming and clinging to me like a demented monkey. Was all a bit and really.

Right, must do Tesco order while the monsters boys are quiet.

PatTheHammer · 22/07/2009 15:08

spink so sorry you are ill. I am here till sunday, so if you were all clear by saturday i would be up for it then? Up to you though, speak later

dog Jammy! i thought I had done well that zach went till 8am (with 3 wakings .

kitty carry on as long as you want to, if you think she doesn't want it anymore then she will let you know. There is no right or wrong age you just do the best you can, so no need for guilt!

Right, anyone any advice on constipation in 3 mth old? SIL took nephew to GP's this morning and they recommended giving him water inbetween feeds (he is mixeed fed) and boiling up pears and giving him the water that you boil them in? Sounds a bit espesciallly for one that is not weaned? I have heard of prune juice as a good remedy, can you give this to LO's that are not weaned?

PatTheHammer · 22/07/2009 15:12

I gave dd 2 30mls of tepid water with a table spoon of fresh orange. Totally out of kilter with the whole virgin gut thing, but she was in agony and bloated so needs must.

I forgot about about my big-bag-o-guilt!

Oh no! Are you both ok? Poor Isla and all of you.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 17:04

Tree stop eating mooses immediately - ya never know, I might be related! (Just read Dog's post.)

Food was gorgeous actually (which was fortunate cos the rest of the night was crap). The new owners have only just taken over the place and are making a big effort. I had vegetable balti and chips followed by apricot, peach and rhubarb crumble with cream - yum. We were waited on by the proprietor who is a really sweet guy and has a gorgeous great dane puppy (don't why that's relevant though really).

Alternative name for me would be 'Moose, keeper of the of giant postings'

Dog, but that's just it, I am very sceptical too. Has proper shaken my foundations I can tell yer. Maybe it was just me 'ormones' or summat.

Spink apparently Tamiflu tastes so foul noone can get it into their littlies. My mates resorted to spoonfuls of strawberry jam to disguise the taste, but then their dd is 5. Ds1 took his in apple juice, but you'd've thought we were poisoning him by his reaction. He had the tablets though and we had to split them open and mix the powder in.

moosemama · 22/07/2009 17:06

On no Dog! Is she ok? You?

It took me forever to write that post and your message only just came up on my screen.

treedelivery · 22/07/2009 17:28

If we do have a fun list of thread keepers - every one gets to make up their own. I am being a right bossy mare here!

Shall Sparkle be keeper of the thread jewels?

Yum to that crumble Moose.

Hope all well Dog

moosemama · 22/07/2009 17:41

Twas indeed very yummy. Might try making it myself actually. Another good one is strawberry and rhubarb crumble, they really seem to complement each other.

Oh no, now I'm nice hungry and we've got nothing in. [grump]

Gotta go and make macaroni cheese, promised it to ds2 in a mad moment as he was so upset when is cousin went home (cried for 45 minutes straight). Haven't even got any macaroni, will have to be cheesy wholewheat fusilli.
