Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
moosemama · 19/07/2009 23:59

Sorry, gotta go to bed or I'll never make it for the school run in the morning. DH has already abandoned me and gone upstairs.

Dog will be about in the morning if you feel the need to chat some more.

Its not self-indulgent! And as for slapping...

We worry about everything, thats half of what being a mum is, and of course it is distressing when our children struggle with something so hard. The worst is when they are stressed and upset, particularly if you don't understand them- dd used to get absolutely furious and very upset if I misunderstood even 1 word in her 'sentences'- she has largely grown out of it now.

Nope- we didn't have a better night here

I guess they're hungrier now... and teeth bothering them... just don't think he's up to food yet

treedelivery · 20/07/2009 08:56

Harriet slept from 12 till 6.30!!
She shouted all evening till 12, but made up for it, all forgiven.

EachPeachPearMum · 20/07/2009 09:16

wow!

moosemama · 20/07/2009 09:32

Dog you were'nt being moany or self indulgent and you certainly don't need slaps, you need very un MN ((hugs)). So here is a huge one ((((((((((hug))))))))))!

Its unlikely Isla will talk before Arlo. As for Elizabeth, one word, does not a good conversationalist make - probably a one off methinks, but fun all the same!

We have been having a bit of a mare with Elizabeth night waking as well, but she slept through last night so have everything crossed.

Tree Woo Hoo! Hope you are feeling better.

Have to go into town today, just realised I have no presents for the boys' teachers and its last day tomorrow. Bah! I hate going into town, I'm frightened of the scary grannies on the bus!

Ds1 sauntered into the playground this morning and announced to his teacher "I had Tamiflu last week" in a sort of loud stage whisper! Full complement of kids there this morning, apparently they only had half on Friday.

Right need to get organised. Will pop in later.

moosemama · 20/07/2009 09:32

Almost forgot. How are dd's bruises Peach is she ok this morning?

EPPM I don't have cat or paypal I'm afraid. Can you send me a message on FB (I'm Natalie btw) if you are still interested.
Thank goodness DD and DH seem better, what a relief for you

WOW Tree! Won't say anymore in case I curse it!

and WOW at DD talking Moose! tink have a good break

dog I really feel your pain from your posts but can only reiterate what others have said. It is really comprehension that is the key. I have loads of friends, particularly with boys who have had similar situations.....they all love Mr Tumble too! Also, FWIW, I did not speak much as a baby or toddler until I was about 2.5-3. I then went to school at 5 reading chapter books, so something amazing happened in that year!

kitty sounds worrying, hope DD is ok. If she is over 6mths sterilising feeding bowls etc is not necessary. Particularly if they have been in the dishwasher. Lots of people have stopped sterilising altogether. I still do bottles but spoons, bowls, plate, cup is a no I'm afraid. Particularly now Zach is crawling about picking up all sorts of grime!

MissJ Street party sounds like fun. Glad you managed to get a cheap jumperoo, how exciting for Nye

Books LOL at your DH forgetting D's milk and nappy. That sounds just like mine!

*qumps, glad bedtimes have settled down. I think anyone who gets as much action as they used to with 2 kids is abnormal

HKZ sounds like a great time had by all and then a lovely roast yesterday, hope that did the trick!

So, Harry Potter was ok. Bit miffed that they left out a huge bit at the end and added an extra bit in mid-film that wasn't in the book.......why do they do that!

Got back at 10.40pm to find DS asleep on my mum, apparently he stayed up till 9.30pm and then passed out. Night-time subsequently all thrown out. He was up twice and in between I woke up at 3am feeling really sick, and actually puked!!!!! No idea why. Felt much better afterwards and feel fine this morning, just tired from very little sleep.

Everyone very impressed with Zach's crawling. He seems to go further or faster if you put some of DD's toys or the telly remote near him . He is also very interested in my mums dog . Threw some yoghurt over him at dinnertime yesterday (after he scoffed a pork casserole with baked potato and roasted veg!). Think my mum is getting her head round BLW, now she can see he is blatantly getting enough!
Off to my sisters in a moment, think we are going somewhere with the kids for the day. School holidays havn't started here yet so it might be nice and quiet

Waves to everyone that missed.

missjackson · 20/07/2009 09:51

Sorry for bad nights dog, eppm and Moose - but big massive (but still whispered) cheer for tree - 6 straight hours, that is fantastic!

Eppm poor little DD falling down the stairs - and poor you. Hope she is all better this morning with not too much bruising.

dog felt so thinking of Arlo trying to tell you he was stuck! Bless him. Honestly though, you should try not to feel sad - he sounds like a happy chappy, and plenty of boys don't start talking until they are 3 or more - especially if they have a gobby older sister (eg my little brother - didn't say a word until he was 3 and then said 'frog')!

hkz how's the hangover? Ikea always makes me freak out too. I now have a new policy. I make a big list first, look online, check all the measurements etc and write down exactly what I want. Then when I get to the store, I park in the collection point and I go straight to the warehouse and use their computer to find the locations, and pick out what I want. Pay and put in the car. Then go back to marketplace and repeat (but am allowed a few impulse purchases!). If I walk around the showroom, all my plans go out of my head, and I can spend literally half an hour debating whether to buy a £12 shoe-rack.

So who has reached 6 months without starting solids? I am curious as Nye officially only has 10 days left, but is showing no interest in food really, and if anything seems less hungry and more content than ever before. The last few nights, using Lenni's 'magic time' theory (ie no dream feed interruption), he has slept from 7pm till 2am without waking. Do I just start BLW anyway? Has anyone got that BLW weaning book? Is it worth it? I just feel a bit clueless.

tree are you still co-sleeping with H?

Off to collect my jumperoo this morning, yey! Tree I just hung out on ebay for a few days and watched the ones close to me - really hope you can find one soon. Otherwise will send you mine when Nye grows out of it in approx 2 weeks

PatTheHammer · 20/07/2009 09:58

Sorry, EPPM forgot to say really sorry about DD's accident. Hope she is ok. We find Arnica cream really helpful for bruising. So scary though. DD has only falen down about 4 steps once, that was bad enough!

Oh, and yay for first tooth books! Zach now has 6 of the buggers!!!! abnd is not afraid to use them on my pore boobies!

x-posts missJ I didn't bother with the book just had a quick read of the blog (think Lenni has the link) that Aitch (?) and other Mnetters have done. Just keep trying to give him a few bits to play with at mealtimes. If he is starting to put them to his mouth and suck them then thats real progress. Zach was faster because he clearly couldn't wait to be fed, but I do think he is some sort of freak who is actually a month older or something Have you sorted a highchair?

treedelivery · 20/07/2009 10:12

Blimey yes how is peachlet?

hongkongzoe · 20/07/2009 10:14

Morning all! Its the first day of the holidays...hooray!

Dog If you can't have a moan on MN then where can you have a moan?! I guess ARlo is just doing stuff in his own time. My friend's eldest didn't speak more than two or three words until he started nursery at 4.5 and a year on he speaks well. I know a lot of mums who go through similar situations, it seems to be mor ewith boys than girls, not sure why, but they seem to get there in the end. Sorry for the bad night too.

Woo hoo Tree!! ( I will say no more!)

Miss J I like your Ikea plan of action, very cunning!

After all this talk of Jumperoos I got curious and had a look on ebay and then accidnetly bid on one that is for sale locally....its hardly been used and no one else has bid ..does 45 sound reasonable? Poor ds is getting bored lying on the baby gym and his feet stick off the end by about a mile now. He is 6 months today, can't believe it!

Pat Are you feeling better? I am a bit queasy today, think it might be tequila related.

Eppm How is you dd? How scary, I hope she's not feeling too battered today.

Kitty How is dd today?

DD starts nursery in September, so she is going for two weeks as a taster so she is used to it. I dropped her off this morning and said bye bye and her little bottom lip quivered and she was trying so hard not to cry. I left and burst into tears...I am an emotional wreck these days...then I walked round the front and could see her playing happily through the window. She's 2.3 now and seems like such a grown up girl all of a sudden, where did my chubby little toddler go?

Right, going to take DS off to playgroup.

Happy shopping Moose and at DD talking!

Tree What a mental picture of your fountain of milk!!!!

Pat the was perhaps more appropriate than i had thought it might be....... Pleased to see eachother i think!

Lenni I too am longing to have some time without Esme hanging off boob But given this swine flu thing, i think i'm going to continue feeding her (at least at night) until 'the risk of infection' passes. oh good lord, there goes me drying up the milk anytime soon!

sparkle i had meldea pump... then used tommy tippe closer to nature pump. Worked well for me. Actually got 2 so could do both sides at once :-)

Peach I think mine is the Swing one? Its the more expensive Melda one, my mother bought it as a gift. I'm not that found of it, found the tommy tippe manual one much better And quickly, According to Their advertising (so always take with a pinch of salt) better than any of the electric ones. I'd have to agree from my experience.

Qumps reunion was nice actually. We did get around to getting some action, i think now that Esme sleeps 7pm-7am (for the last week) maybe it'll be more on the cards, as not like i'm feeding just before bed. I think its half that i feel rather body concious that i'm sort of not fancying it. Feel bad for OH.

dog This is what MN is here for! Sorry to hear of your worries, being a first timer, i'm not much up on speech, but can only guess they do things in their own time? As for jumperoo- Esme ADORES hers. Best baby purchase by FAR. We bought ours from Argos, they were discounted at the time, think about £69 we paid.

Just got a call from my father, who is coming down with cold symptoms, he is just warning me incase turns into swine, as we have been staying with them & he saw Esme only yesterday. I guess the next few hours will show whether common cold or oinky flu. Hopefully the first.

Better run, Esme just did an massive poo in her jumperoo, i just heard it, sounds like an up the back job. Oh dear!

EachPeachPearMum · 20/07/2009 12:30

Blimey....

pat will email lateer then

hkz hope you're fully recovered

missJ no solids here... 12 days left to 26weeks ... consulting gp tomorrow re weaning and intolerances

DD is fine today- SO full of beans
Got some arnica cream and she's been creamed, but bruises not too bad so far...

moos just a quick one - where were those cake toppers you found on Ebay - I've been back through the thread but can't find your post anywhere....how long ago was it??? it was the cartoon type baby I liked - oh how I wish I'd bookmarked it at the time,

hongkongzoe · 20/07/2009 15:07

just won a jumperoo on ebay, its only down the road so am off to pick it up. Am feeling incredibly queasy...hope its an extended hangover and not anything more sinister oink oink.

PatTheHammer · 20/07/2009 17:43

Just got back from 'flying fortress' play area and dinner out with my sis and her family........great day, be back soon!

ray fingers crossed its not a cold of the oinky variety. Oh and glad the 'reunion' went well .

Maybe send him off for a week more often??

Bloody hope that works for me and DH on sunday!

treedelivery · 20/07/2009 18:47

1st day of holiday and I have just come so close to loosing it with dd1. I didn't but put her under the thumb screw guilt trip so not sure thats any better. Toxic Mother! Argh!

I just want her to eat something that might help out her blooming skin which is going to need steriods at this rate. Shouldn't have to argue about every mouthfull. Argh!

Sweet potato wedges and scrambled egg. Hardly soggy brussels and raw liver is it? Argh!

On a more exciting note there is a jumperoo for sale in my town - which is good as the nearest other town is a fair drive. It has a week to go so I have offered the seller a buy it now. Fingers crossed.

What sort of price do they sell for, all you ebay watchers of jumperoo's?

Jess has a morning gym summer club tomorrow. All pray she likes it as it's 3 mornings and cost £45. I could go out for a meal or to the cinema to see HP with that. [sd]

Feeling it a bit today folks [grumpy parent] though only this evening, so probably just tired.

missjackson · 20/07/2009 19:14

I got mine for £40 tree. Amazingly it has literally not been used. The people I bought it from had everything for their kid - the bloke proudly informed me that the baby's first pair of jeans cost £100 from Diesel. During the 5 minutes I was there he actually managed to tell me the price of almost everything in the house. Anyway, they had bought the jumperoo, erected it, put him in it, and he cried - so they took him out and put it on ebay . God I love those people.

Glad you had a nice reunion ray .

eppm will be interested to hear what GP says re late weaning.

pat yes, you should def come over one day in the hols - DD would like the foals. I still can't get over her being able to tell the time! I know grown-ups who still struggle... well, one, anyway.

tree sweet potato wedges sound yum! If DD doesn't want them, send them my way. Will she drink smoothies or are they considered gross? You could add nice omega-rich oils to them if she does which might be good for her skin?

Lenni I had a question.... do you leave your ittis all poppered together when you wash them? We still have a little gaping around the legs but other than that, I adore them and love them, and have to stroke them lots. Have difficulty putting his trousers back on after a nappy change because I want everyone to see his gorgeous nappies! Hope you aren't working & studying too hard.

MM forgot to say WOW at 'Dada'! That's amazing... N is nowhere near even babbling. He doesn't really do syllables. Just a very loud yell that gets people saying 'ooh, he's got a fine pair of lungs on him' in a polite gritted-teeth sort of way.

Active day - picked up jumperoo, went swimming, and then N went riding! Pictures on fb if you want to see the little cowboy. He just went around the yard but seemed to love it. OH very proud. Asleep by 6.15pm. Glass of wine and an early night for me.

hongkongzoe · 20/07/2009 19:25

Oh, DS loves the jumperoo, his little face was so sweet...until DD tried to catapult him through the ceiling. I picked it up for 45 quid, it also looks unused, the bloke said his daughter hardly used it.

MissJ 100 quid for a pair of baby jeans? Were these people insane You should keep a tab on thier ebay listings for sure!

Tree Hope gym club is a success. My DD is very much a pita at the mo. I have to go into work tomorrow for a meeting with SS regarding a student and she's going to have to come as DP and Jude are off elsewhere so she better behave...I am that its my job to deal with kids who have behavioural problems and my DD can be a right nightmare little 'spirited' at times.

Still feeling bleurgh... in that morning sickness sort of way, but no way could I be pregnant so am hoping it will pass.

Oh MissJ Gorgeous pictures, he looks adorable on horseback!

moosemama · 20/07/2009 20:21

Hi

Just read all the posts I missed today and then realised I can't remember a single jot. I am soooo exhausted after troopsing round the shops and then visiting my extended female relations at Mum's house.

Dd has been watching my great nephew (aged 1) crawling round the living room at high speed. You could see her taking it all in and then trying to work out how he did it. Poor little thing, he has a problem with his hips and as a result can crawl but not bear his own weight for walking. Apparently it was noticed at birth, but they told his Mum it was only mild and wouldn't present a problem. My sister says he sometimes cries out when he is crawling because it hurts. They have now taken him to a new GP who has referred him to the hospital.

Wore dd in the moby facing outwards with the buggy folded on the way into town and met some lovely grannies this time. They were very taken with dd and even offered to carry my bag and the buggy. The bus was about 2/3rds empty as well, so I could have had dd in the buggy after all, but she was loving facing out in the sling so was all good.

Bought some probiotics for dd, but am not convinced by them. It was either some that need to be kept in the fridge that didn't contain Bifidum Infantis and had added strawberry or banana flavouring or some pre-packed in sachets that don't need to be kept in the fridge but did contain the Bifidus Infantis. Couldn't get hold of any of the brands I had been recommended. Have bought the sachets, but still not completely convinced they will be any good if they don't need to be refrigerated.

Got some cute clothes from the H&M discount rail for dd and a couple of cool hoodies for a fiver each for the boys.

Spent ages trawling around looking for teacher presents and ended up buying gift wrapped chocolate truffles as I was too tired to walk any further.

Caught the bus back with dd in the buggy with no problems this time. Helps that the sixth form college has already closed for the summer so there weren't hoards of annoying teenagers crammed into every inch of the bus (including the buggy park).

Mum, my sister and my neice want me to go shopping with them tomorrow. I'm really way too tired to go, but it will be my last chance to get out without the boys until September so feel like I should. Hmm dilemma.

Blimey! Dh just stuck his head around the door to speak to me and then went out again. Dd, who is sitting in her swing wide awake looked at the closing door and shouted Daddy! I am starting to think she really does know what she is saying. Lord help us if she starts talking this early, the other two can talk the hind leg off a donkey and they started much later!
