ah...back for only a moment. got sucked into sunning by the kiddie pool with dd1. we had snack and story time too (by the pool). reese is still sleeping but it's about time for her to wake and i've got to get the oven on to heat the casserole. as if any of you want to hear about my boring day....

miamla i am very happy for you. amazing how your efforts can help as long as you stick to your guns.

captain omg that was too funny. will check out your new pics in a little while.

expectant you live a very posh life in my opinion. to have opportunities like that are amazing. i wish you all the best no matter where you land in 6m to 2yrs.

sazzles i will go to the zoo on friday and take loads of pictures of our red panda for midisazzles. dd1 will enjoy the mission.

time is almost up for me and i've yet to review fb. bbl

dizzydixies · 06/07/2009 21:36

evening all, just nipping on (now that the panic is over from not being able to find you all!!!)

christening went SO well was lovely, few dramas which I'll bore you all with later date when not so pooped

shall pop up some photos and say goodnight

RedLentil · 06/07/2009 21:39

Greetings from Bantry. Have just popped out to put bunting up around the town for VG. DD2 will sorely let the side down re sand eating I'm afraid.

As to being highbrow, I read that and thought I'd best pluck mine before VG sees me. And tomorrow's highlight is the woman who wrote the Horrid Henry books, so kind of no-brow ...

Not sure I'll get to anything myself on account of having the three to mind ...
Can I just do some tiggerish jumping up and down about meeting VG?

I've been patiently refreshing the other thread all day. It didn't occur to me that you'd moved.

A day of ups and downs here with the DC being alternately wonderful and catastrophically silly.

All best reflected by DD1's art project.
Me: what are you painting?
DD1: Oh, just some attitudes.

Did I tell you though that DS is now totally relaxed about having his teeth brushed? The whole hulk thing, painful as it was, really drew a line under the whole thing.

Miamla and Cyteen - way to go on the sleeping. The dropping off of feeds is something they sort out for themselves (DS self-weaned at 14 months while DD1 kept going for another seven months) but it does bring really mixed emotions I think.

Steaky - glad you were able to talk to your mil. And I do hope things start to settle. You are putting so much energy into sorting this out. It's good too to hear that you're being clear that you are not willing to accept really unstable treatment from him, however much you love him.

Izzy and mini-oops are so adorable in their pics.

Hotter at the lost years
What a super-kind thing to do, Sazzles.

Now my memory fails me ...

dizzydixies · 06/07/2009 22:03

have put up a photo of Dylan in her christening robe on FB and will do so on here too when I've got the energy

red enjoy your meet she and her boys are just lovely

Vanilla cake recipe here ladies, enjoy

TwilightSurfer · 07/07/2009 01:54

that vanilla cake recipe makes me want to bake! YUM!!

i have tempted the fates this evening by putting reese to bed in her sister's room. well it's really their room together, she's just never slept in there.

i took the extra playyard and placed it exactly as it is in our room. she fussed a bit more but i think that was because her sister was being a total demon this evening. i'd probably have cried too if it looked like i was going to have to bunk with her.

here's hoping this was a wise move.

until later...
night

SoNotExpectant · 07/07/2009 05:19

TS hoping the girls are sleeping well together. Re our lifestyle - it's not all as glamorous as it sounds believe me! We had 6 months before we moved here from London but I think once you've done one move 'out of country' it becomes easier to move somewhere else and keep moving IYSWIM. There are some serious expats on the 'circuit' too - the ones with huge relocation and rental allowances and school fees etc chucked in - unfortunately we're not quite in that league!

Miamla hope you are having another good night and have a great meet up. I am v.

CC LOL at your DS comment.

Steaknife · 07/07/2009 08:03

Morning. Porridge fruit and droobie blanc here. Though dh and i had shreddies. :-) a good night here until a local tom cat jumped through the window. Cue cat yowling, husband swearing and baby awake. I then find our cat has pooed on the bath mat cos the store room door was closed so she couldn't get to her litter. I was glad to go feed the baby and leave dh to it. All that at 4Am.

Steaknife · 07/07/2009 08:14

That would be fromage blanc. We have crawling here and i suddenly realise that the flat is a death trap. Dd just pulled the cats tail and who turned and swiped dd. Looks like a bit of blood in her far but nothing bf wont help her forget. I think cat is about to be banished outside.

Steaknife · 07/07/2009 08:17

In her ear. Bloody predictive text. Right have lovely meet ups. Hope you all had sleeping babes and a happy tuesday to you all. Got to go madame is pulling at my slippers.

Miamla · 07/07/2009 08:39

CC you've got a complicated little DS there, haven't you!

steaky our cat was banished the week before DS was born. he's really possessive towards me and attacks everyone apart from me (including DP) so we thought it was safer for him to be outside! Glad DD is ok

TS you made me smile about if you were Reese you wouldn't want to share a room with DD1 either! hope they both settled ok

sonot we know you'll be there with us in spirit.. i'm going to try and remember my camera today!

vg hope you enjoy your meetup with the hairy trucker

redLentil hope you enjoy your meetup with the hairy trucker

dizz welcome home

Miamla · 07/07/2009 08:51

i appreciate you're all on the edge of your seats waiting to hear how last night went..... He had a v late nap at 6 in the car so DP gave him a bath and he was ready for his bf at 8. 15mins of milk, 15mins of settling in his cot and he was asleep! I came downstairs, surprised at how quick it had been and i heard screaming. I went back up, he was standing and screaming in his cot. All i did was lie him down, rubbed his back for literally 5seconds and he was asleep again until 11pm! 10mins of settling/stroking. next one was at 2.45 (15mins of settling) and then next wakeup was 5.30. gave him a long bf and he then went back to sleep til 7

so summary.. not as good as the night before re periods of sleep but alot less settling was needed for each wakeup and there were fewer wakeups oh and i managed to snooze him til7. i'm marking last night as a success!

Miamla that is spectacular well done to you and DS. Sounds like you have pretty much cracked it! What a transformation, clever girl

Hope all you London lasses have a fab time today, and you Irish ones too Is anyone coming to this northern meet then???

TS with all the sleepy goodness going on over here I hope DD2 slept well in DD1's room. My little sister was a nightmare apparently - cried so much that my mum nearly had a breakdown when she thought she was pregnant again and made my dad go private for the snip! As soon as she came in my room (at about 9 months) though she was fine, she just wanted some child company. Maybe that's all DD1 wants and DD2 will calm her down

Steaky lol at droobie

Dizzy I will definitely be giving that cake a go. I am only allowed one slice of cake per week, it's worth making it a good one

Better go, have coffee at my friend's house this morning then it's Stay and Play at DD's nursery this afternoon, and it's my turn to stay, hurrah!

dizzydixies · 07/07/2009 09:59

morning all am POOPED we had a horrendous night with Dylan so I slept on couch (she was in with me and DH) and went back to bed when they got up and now she's napping and DH back to bed

girls are demented waiting on PIL, as usual , and then we're going into town as DD1 opened her birthday cards and with the money in her cards and her piggy bank she's enough for her much coveted intendo DS

hope you all have a lovely day, shall report back properly probably on Thurs as I've got a meeting tonight and want to spend time with DH tomorrow before he disappears off to work at TITP this weekend

if you'remaking the vanilla cake ladies, enjoy

Miamla · 07/07/2009 10:07

dizz i hope DD1 isn't £2 short
happy birthday to miniDizzNo1, hope you have a lovely day

cyteen · 07/07/2009 10:10

Miamla that is awesome, sounds like he's getting the message. It's probably as much a relief to him as you, tbh. Joe is so much happier now that he's getting more sleep.

dizzy enjoy your coffee matchsticks eldest's birthday trip out. I bet it's quite surreal being mother of a 6 year old eh

Steak you have my deepest sympathies re. cat molestation; many's the night I've been woken at 4am by our own boycat, leaping all over me demanding food and affection Sadly however, last night he woke us in a different way - he's been off his food for the last two days, really not himself, just laying around like a limp fur looking pathetic, and at 1am we were roused by him making those horrible 'leave me alone I'm in pain' noises. Have dropped him off at the vets this morning, they're doing some tests as there's nothing obviously wrong. But he's not right Poor baby.

dizzydixies · 07/07/2009 10:18

thank you

enjoy your day everyone and over the mini-meets

oopsacoconut · 07/07/2009 10:22

Morning

Well done minimiamla and Miamla on the sleep. He is learning to settle himself with little help, lots of people forget that putting yourself to sleep is a skill babies need to learn.

STeaky not good on the cat front - ours are indoor cats but occasionally the urge to throw them out the window is very strong! DD love to chase our cats and they now taunt her through the stairgate.

Cyteen I hope you kitty is okay.

V. envious of the minimeets - I forgot to get back to anyone saying it was just too short notice to get there today (not Bantry but London)

Sazzles when do you head off to France? Do you fancy the zoo sometime (and anyone else who is about)I want to let DD loose in the splash area.

Dizzy Pleased Christening went well - DD3 looked adorable. Enjoy intendo shopping and then you will lose your DD into it forever. Your words will echo around her and she will never hear you.

Sorry Seb hijacked the laptop while I was in the kitchen.

Steaknife · 07/07/2009 11:00

Miamla - great news on the sleeping. Well done both of you. cyteen - your poor mog. Ours is the stray from the dive centre that i insisted we adopted. The crazy ideas you have when pg. I am sitting at the bottom of the outside stairs as dd fell asleep two mins before we got home. I will have to bring out provisions and maybe give the thread a brush up while she sleeps and folk are off on jollies.
