Cyteen that's amazing sleeping!

DS also doing well on the sleeping front but I didn't want to speak too soon IYKWIM.

I met a Mum this afternoon with a 3 month old who is already sleeping 10.5 hours a night she already looks thinner than me as well . I'd met her before when she was about 8 months pg.

Steaky yes it does sound a bit planned but DH really doesn't want to go back to the UK yet so we were looking for an 'exit route' from here that didn't mean going straight back and the other option we'd been given was Tokyo which we're not keen on at all with DCs.

cyteen · 06/07/2009 12:35

Tokyo

Mind you, NYC also

Leicester doesn't really have the same shine!

Helloooooo!!!! Long time not type! Have been too busy to plug the computer in for most of the last week. Have had so many odd things to do during the week, have needed to veg completely whenever I get a moment (and Captain Corelli had to be finished).

Had 9 bottles of blood taken and an injection on Wednesday, took 5 needles in all as I have deep, reluctant veins. All this for no particular reason other than enthusiastic private doctor spending BUPA money on testing for extremely unlikely rare illnesses. Massive bruises on my crelbows of course.

My cake party was fab on Friday, I got v pissed anyway so I'm assuming other people enjoyed themselves as much as me. Feedback so far suggests my Aphrodisiac Cupcake recipe seems to work too!

Good news with all the sleeping babies, Kurt seems to be getting back to 6-7am wake ups which is more manageable than th 5am ones we've had lately.

Steaky 1 step backward, 2 steps forward? Been thinking of you.

Have a lovely time at the meetup tomorrow, just got too much on to excuse me nipping up to join you. End of summer term seems to be doubly busy when you've got one starting in September too.

Got to go, can hear Kurt playing in the bathroom...

gah, no napping here. I lowered the cot base at the weekend and now have a devil of a time to get Iz into it asleep. And the drop side wakes her up when it slides, so thats no good either.

A friend of mine swears by going in every five mins and repeating a shushing phrase. As she usually feeds to sleep and then I have to rock her and put her down and repeat and repeat and repeat then this might be worth a try. But so far just seems to be working her up more and more.

I just need to get her out of the habit of being picked up and rocked back to sleep especially if she is ever going to stop BFing.

Miamla yes PILs now fully up to speed on the situ, well as far as my French could allow. MIL offered to speak to DH but I thought that would be a step too far. We actually had a nice weekend, apart from the sleeplessness and we do seem to be making some progress.

How is everyone elses' days going?

Steaknife · 06/07/2009 13:42

wotcha wothca buckets buckets

Steaknife · 06/07/2009 13:53

why didnt I just try to rock her back to sleep and do what I usually do. She is all upset now but I know she will be happy as larry as soon as I bring her out to play. I feel a tour in the pushchair coming on.

I might pass at the town hall and find out about stands on the market but tis fearful hot today.

Hehe.
Sorry hotter xposted with you earlier. My lesson today was not exactly a resounding success. I had a not great night last night, so was driving around in a kind of fog today. (mental not meteorological). The instructor pointed out to me that I very rarely stall the car, but today I stalled it more times in that one lesson than I have in all the others combined. The good note was that I started bay parking, and managed very well. And three point turns are pretty much signed off. So it wasn't a total loss. Oh and I nearly forgot to pay him for the lesson d'oh.

Nice to see you again Buckets it's always good to have your cheery, bouncy self about
I'm really not meaning to ignore anyone, but am just not fully compus mentus. Even MIL's coffee hasn't helped much.

cyteen · 06/07/2009 16:56

Ann my instructor stopped suggesting 9am lessons after I almost went straight through a red light Tired learning sucks.

LoveBuckets · 06/07/2009 17:19

Steaky Have you tried setting a hairdryer going outside her room at bedtime? White noise see? (And if you ever get desperate and try controlled crying, it's good for drowning out the noise too.)

Really knackered and weepy today with period pains like early labour, first day of AF (a day late, boy was I pooing my pants!) So I abandoned the hell of the Monday swimming lesson for the sake of everyone.

Aphrodisiac Cupcakes invented by Buckets

6oz butter, room temp
6oz sugar (vanilla sugar if you've got it)
3 eggs
4oz SR flour
2oz cocoa
2tbsp buttermilk or plain yoghurt
1teasp vanilla extract
2oz G&B Maya Gold choc, chopped
6 cardamom pods, split open with a knife and seeds put aside, discard pods
1/2 teasp mixed spice
Few dried chilli seeds

Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs, seive flour and cocoa over them and stir in with a large metal spoon til almost mixed. Grind cardamom seeds and chilli seeds in a pestle and mortar and add to cake mix with rest of ingredients.

Dollop between 12 muffin cases and bake at 180degrees for 18-20mins.

For frosting melt 150g plain choc with some butter and cool a little. Meanwhile, mix a dollop of cream cheese with lots of icing sugar until frosting-consistency. Mix the two together and swirl on to cooled cakes.

AnnVan · 06/07/2009 17:40

Oooh buckets I can see why you call them Aphrodisiac Cupcakes. They sound positively orgasmic.

alittlebitshy · 06/07/2009 19:08

just getting this on my threads i'm on list.

ds just out of bath so need to go and put him to bed...

cyteen · 06/07/2009 19:20

Oh my god Buckets (see, it's working already ) I just HAVE to make those this weekend. My waistline won't thank you (but DP might).

LoveBuckets · 06/07/2009 19:44

Weeeeeell, according to that programme with Alex James the other week, dairy-eaters lose more fat through their poo than non-dairy eaters. Sooooo, if you stick with the real butter and now that G&B isn't vegan( though on behalf of vegans LOL), and factor in the aerobics you'll be doing later, what's not to like?

Vanilla sugar is dead easy by the way, just keep a pod (or lengthways-half) in a special jar of sugar and keep topping up the sugar whenever you use some. I did Douwe-Egberts jars full of it for Xmas pressies last year.

TwilightSurfer · 06/07/2009 19:49

goodness. i got lost.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 06/07/2009 19:54

Buckets - those look divine I will try them out on DH this weekend.

dh yelling for a back wash so I'll be back

CaptainCaveman · 06/07/2009 20:34

Aha, here's where you are all hiding! I too almost panicked when I saw the old thread at 1001 messages with no link to new thread . We'd make great detectives eh?!

O is getting much better at sleeping - we even had one sleep through til 6am last week (admittedly, he was up until 11pm though!). And now when he wakes up at night he settles straight off again in our bed, no feeding. All in all (touch wood) pretty good.

Must just share this with you - I picked ds1 up from school today and he said we had to hurry home coz he was desparate for a poo. I said fine, no problems. He replied "Well be quick mummy, my bottom is begging me to get to the toilet!" So cute (but I'm biased!)

LoveBuckets · 06/07/2009 20:48

LOL, did you both get the giggles?

Anyone else killing time til Captain Jack? Have just mentioned this rather callously in a serious YANBU thread, feel rotten now.

CaptainCaveman · 06/07/2009 20:59

Hey facebookers - check out the pic of ds1 & 2 I just posted .

for non-fbers, I will try to put in on my mn profile too.

Now, why the bugger did I just say O was sleeping better...cue wake up. Granted, he settled straight off again but wouldn't you just know it!!!

CaptainCaveman · 06/07/2009 21:00

Ds1 has his first ever sports day tomorrow...wonder if rain will stop play?

And wasn't Federer great yesterday? and Roddick of course, brilliant match all round!

CaptainCaveman · 06/07/2009 21:02

buckets I did LOL but promptly got told off by ds . He said it was not funny, 'he really did need a poo very badly, and that his bottom was actually begging his brain to make him go to the loo' (far too clever for his own good). He then conceded that it was just a little bit funny, and it was ok to laugh (too complex too!)
