how frustrating ses to not be able to talk to your gp about o's appointment.. but at least if you go you'll be able to confirm there's nothing wrong and that it was the tongue tie..

Thanks guys. I'm going to go. Just hope we get seen quickly and by a Dr that isn't so overly cautious.

Just off to bed now. Hope everyone has a good night.

Belgianchocolates · 20/07/2009 22:28

ses I think the hospital is right to suggest you discuss O's weight gain with the GP. After all, you know the cause of the initial weight loss and his weight is on the up now. I think it'll take a little while for O to get back to the 75th centile. I think it's always quicker for babies to loose weight than to gain it back. (If only it was the same with adults!)

momino C was like that at the boob for a while, until I realised that she was actually full and didn't want any more. She now feeds very quickly and efficiently, but it took me a while to realise that and so I was in a way trying to force her to take more than she needed. She still goes on/off, headbobs and pushes herself away while at the same time wanting to latch during a feed for some reason, but as she lasts 2-3h between feeds and sleeps through the night it must be for some other reason and not because I haven't got enough milk. Does H go long between feeds? If she does, I wouldn't think you don't have enough milk.

Runningm LadyH Can't see what's nice about bugaboos either. They look a bit odd.

ladyH well done for persevering with the BF even if it's only 2 feeds a day.

I finally caught up with the laundry today. Nothing left to iron, all laundry baskets are empty. Yay! I've also been unpacking all clothes DH has brought home from work and now he's got 2 overflowing sock drawers and the same with his pants drawer. He's also got mountains of T-shirts, jumpers and jeans. I'm pretty sure he doesn't realise how many clothes he really has as he's always complaining he hasn't got any nice things.

belgian, H does go 3 hours betw feeds. for example, she had a feed at 2-3pm (we both fell asleep on the sofa with dd1, so an extended feed ). she then didn't feed until 6pm which she fussed on and off when i thought she should have been starving. i left it then offered another feed at 7.30 which she took fine.

she just doesn't feed as often as i think she should and she's a slight-ish baby (25th cent) so could use the extra weight - i want her to be chubby-fat like your C . she was also a bit unsettled at times today though i still got plenty of smiles, maybe she's a bit under the weather and appetite low.

Ses, can't believe GP didn't talk to you about it first. good to go anyway to get it settled but you will be the expert anyway - you know how healthy O is.

GP aside, i had a similar prob with dd1. she'd had tongue tie and didn't gain quickly. hovering around the 2nd centile before dropping off the chart, we were referred to hosp. where they tested for things like CFibrosis. But, i knew she was perfectly healthy, she was just gaining as she needed. after many bothersome appts we were signed off.

today at 3.5, she's well above average for her weight. they all catch up.

Ses I agree with Dandy and Belgianc. Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Monimo I found the same as Belgian that when G pops off the boob and starts to cry, then tries to latch on, it's a classic tiredness sign for him, so I normally put him down for a sleep when he does that.

Panic over on me feeling rubbish. Took ibuprofen and feeling loads better so can't be the dreaded sf. Keeping close eye on DC too.

I at hospital tomorrow too to get G's hips checked out. Am dreading it and glad we have finally got an appointment. Not sure whether we will get a diagnosis or not but glad we are finally seeing someone about it.

Gonna retire to bed. Hope everyone has a lovely sleep.

Momino · 20/07/2009 23:08

Tummum, glad you don't have SF and glad you feel better . I'll keep tiredness in mind next time Harper pops off the boob, maybe that's it.

good luck at your hosp appt tomorrow, fingers crossed. we have H's ultrasound for her hip on Wed and can't wait till that's over.

ok, my eyes are closing as i type so off to bed, me. night. x

leaky boobs I had very leaky boobs with other 2 children. I saturated pads at night and many very absorbant pads in the day. This time I only leak when I don't want to or don't think I will. I only leak a little. No where near as much as I did with the other dc.

Cars Thanks very much for all the feedback. llaregub We're looking at the volvos but not the CX90 as it's a 'twuntmobile' in dh speak. He conceeds the CX70 isn't too bad. What's the turning circle like? I believe the estates are like buses to manoevre. Also we looked at the Citroen site blotted and like the look of the C4 Picasso Grand which we wouldn't have looked at had you not mentioned the C8. I'm going to go back to the VW site and look at Sharans too.

Tummum · 20/07/2009 23:39

Spoke too soon. DD2 has cough and temperature of 40. Pretty sure this is sf. Poor thing.

Jennster · 20/07/2009 23:41

Oh Tummum that's rotten. I hope it's not too traumatic for you. Cool kisses to your dd2.

Jennster · 20/07/2009 23:46

Lilypadz mention if you have very very leaky boobs then they might not work as well as you'd hope

Ses At least your GP referred BEFORE you jumped from 2nd to 9th centile. I can see how that makes you feel undermined though.

Tummum · 21/07/2009 00:25

It's def swine flu. Collecting tamiflu in the morning and trying very hard not to cry or worry too much. Temp is 41. Gonna be a long night...!

Oh no tum, hope you get speedy recoveries.

Dandy - sorry you are stressing, surely if its in writing that the decision is final then legally there's no way they can reverse the decision? Maybe a solicitor could advise you?

FiKelly · 21/07/2009 06:54

oh no tummum poor dd, i hope her temp breaks v soon and that the rest of you manage to fend it off.. sending big hugs if you want them and a vat glass of wine.

dandy i really hope it's not your dd who the school is talking about.. you've been through so much with this for so long now you definitely deserve a stress free summer break

FiKelly · 21/07/2009 07:16

bugaboo's I have a cameleon but won't take it personally that not everyone else does I do love it though and it's still going strong it's now back in basinette mode for g and has a buggy board for ds which he is loving . Anyway there's loads of pram options as we all have different tastes and needs in them.. right?!

Tummum · 21/07/2009 08:23

Morning all. Well, after being as hot as a volcano all night DD2 is now right as rain, no temperature and demanding breakfast so if that was swine flu it really is nothing to worry about. I'm not convinced, it wasn't worse than a nasty cold really. Will probably stay in today as it's raining and see how it goes.

Dandy hope your conversation with the headteacher goes OK today. I would have thought that any appeals process would have had to be outlined at the original hearing or in the letter you received detailing the decision, but that would be logical which is not normally the way of local governments !

Ca you tell I'm liking the today !

FiKelly · 21/07/2009 08:38

tummum big Phew about dd2.. hopefully that's it over already

FiKelly · 21/07/2009 08:46

planning on braving the diabolical rain this am to go get g weighed.. hoping the rain will put most people off going to the hv session. we're back to the doc's this pm about g's eczema.

Tummum · 21/07/2009 08:53

Thanks all for your kind wishes and support. Our experience last night really put sf into perspective for me, so I can stop worrying and get on with things.

Belgianchocolates · 21/07/2009 09:16

Tummum glad your dd is OK now. It must have been so worrying to have a lo with such a hight temp. I think you're right to make her have a rest today though. Temps tend to go up as the day go on.

Momino I hope you're a bit more reassured about your supply. Sounds like H is doing well on your milk. It sounds like she's content, but she is just going to be a bit slimmer than my C. Like Tummum I find that C fusses at the breast when she's tired too. I think she sometimes just wants to suckle without actually feeding and then off course my strong let down kicks in and she gets angry.

Dandy It must be worrying that you've heard that news about those appeals being challenged, though if it says in writing that it is a final decision then surely your place should be secure?

buggaboos I bet there are loads of people out there not liking lots of different buggies. Like someone said: not everyone has the same taste. That's why there's such a variety of the things!

C seems to have changed her sleeping pattern. The last 2 days she's been going to sleep earlier in the evening: 8.30-9 rather than 10, but then wakes at 4 for a feed. Giving a dream feed doesn't seem to make any difference. It's such a shame, because last week she went to 6.30 twice.

Why do babies always poo just when you've changed their nappy? And why does my ds's nappy leak the day I've changed his sheets? Better go and change her nappy now.

FiKelly · 21/07/2009 09:30

belgian both of mine also like clean nappies to do a poo.. and it's always as we're just running out the door to go meet someone

flippineck · 21/07/2009 09:30

Morning all! Wow, you lot talk a lot in 24 hours.

tummum - glad you are all ok, I really hope that's your lot for illness. DD's temperature must have been really worrying.

dandy - hope you get straight answers today and that DD's place isn't being challenged.

The lilypadz look interesting, I'm tempted to give them a try as I do still leak but not the vast floods that it was. If they really don't show under clothes then that'll bring a large chunk of my wardrobe back into action.

Everyone with doctor/hospital appointments today hope all goes ok.

We were going to go to a farm today, but the weather is not playing at all so we're just going to a friend's for lunch instead, should be good though.

I'd left washing on the line overnight and of course it all got rained on, so now the house is full of wet (clean!) nappies. I really worry about our washng machine at times, it gets used a lot and is 8 years old now.

pulapula · 21/07/2009 09:32

Tummum - glad to hear your DD is feeling better already. Wonder if it was SF or not?

Dandy- definitely worth a call to head to check your appeal status but i am sure the school can accommodate a couple of extra pupils- i know a school we looked round here took a few extra last year and managed.

I am feeling tired but my HV is coming at 10 so i will have a nap later. S fed at 11.30, 2.30 and 6 last night (wish he could stretch more than 3 hours!) but at least the early start meant DD and DS1 were in nursery by 8.30.
