Ah and now M has woken up, just as I was going to have a read through.....

Aubergenie - Nice work on the path. You are one multi-skilled lady! Oh and M has discovered her girl bits.

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 07:04

morning, yawn I will be so pleased when O finally gets a tooth or two.
Aubergenie well done on the path I am so impressed.
CSWS well done on the sleep training. We are almost ready to move DS1 into what was our spare room so O can go into DS1s box room and then hopefully we will stop waking each other up.

heather1980 · 29/06/2009 08:28

i'm back! have you all missed me?

we've been away this weekend at a wedding in birmingham.
it was hellish and vow never to return there. i have never seen such scary driving in my life (and i've driven in france!)
the kids were so well behaved all day, i'm very proud!
it was a bit of an odd wedding, there were only 3 kids there and 2 were mine. the reception place didn't provide high chairs and i had to bring my own and they didn't do a kids meal, so kennedy ended up hardly eating all day as she's not that into goats cheese tartlets. very gald to be home.

alex has cut his first (and second) tooth finally. the gum has split and they're just poking through. it's the bottom front left and top eye teeth. i'm not looking forward to the biting.

and dd did her first wee on the potty last night. i can't wait for her to be potty trained.

DD's bottom two teeth popped through yesterday

She has finally worked out where the stairs are and is very interested in them. I'm going to have to get the stairgate out later I love not having it, such a PITA and it worries me now that DS is toilet trained and the toilet is upstairs.

DD has around 3 bottles a day now. When she was breastfed she was still feeding every couple of hours day and night but when I canged her over at 7 1/2 months she started spacing out the feeds and sleeping through them night.

I still don't have a highchair DP wouldn't let me buy one because there is a table and chair that join together to make a highchair in the shed but he still hasn't sorted it out. After months of me moaning he has finally given me permission to look in argos

Well done on the path aubergenie

heather1980 · 29/06/2009 09:04

she's 2.8.

forgot to say alex loves the stairs too. he can get up the first 2 before he gets stuck.

Thanks pistachio, just had a look on ebay and found some ok ones, I have a very tiny budget!!

DS is nearly 2.9 and he trained within a week a couple of months ago so being older I'm guessing it will be easier, good luck

jenwa · 29/06/2009 09:42

putpleflower not sure what your budget is but in mothercare the chicco one is very good and we got it on offer for 39.99 and its fab. I hate spending alot of money on stuff but the high chair is great and better that 59.99

yeh for teeth, still nothing here although FIL was convinced she had one the other day but it was bread in her mouth!

heather sorry the wedding was a nightmare day for you, pain with not catering for kids!

Sorry gotto go DD2 is crying, think she has filled her nappy!

aubergenie · 29/06/2009 10:37

Purpleflower - If you're anywhere near an Ikea, we've got this high chair. Nothing special but it does the job. It's really easy to clean as well. There's a tray you can buy for about £2.50 as well.

purpleflower · 29/06/2009 10:53

Thank you for those. My budget is at very maximum £40. Ideally I need one that folds down as we are very limited to space.

I found these on ebay:

looks nice

could pick up

could pick this up to

The only problem I can see with the second 2 is cleaning, I had similar with DS and it was a nightmare, I ended up bootsaleing it!

aubergenie · 29/06/2009 11:02

Ooh, that first one is really nice PF, and a really good price. I think it would be easier to clean than the other two, but it doesn't look like it folds up.

My dp wanted to get a Tripp Trapp, but we were put off by the price. I might show him this instead.

purpleflower · 29/06/2009 11:07

I know it doesn't fold up but I like it The only problem I can see with it is that I would have to buy 2 so DS had a matching one, so that makes it out of my price range

loulou33 · 29/06/2009 11:15

Sorry i've been away for a while as i've been feeling lousy about life in general. Joe has been a star with his CP but is now refusing pretty much all milk (bf/ff anything). I have taken the tough decision to stop bf as he barely has any milk, i think my milk is pretty much gone and i hate fighting with him to get him to feed. Now feel v.v.v.v miserable about this and maybe wish i hadn't dont it. He won't take formula either (2oz this morning) although he had some last night(6oz but it took me ages to get him to take any at all). I thought at first it might be the cp putting him off eating but he eats solids fine. I have tried offering b4 meals but no joy. he should be starving in the morning but won't have more than a tiny bit. He's waking at 5am screaming but is not hungry, happy to sit on my knee or play (so not ill or anything)....feel hugely guilty about going to work and leaving dh to cope with 2 children. Feel crap for not being able to cope with 2 children myself this weekend (turned into shouty parent again) when you all manage without any help whilst your dh's are working...just feel very crap.

I just want to bf Joe again but i know he won't let me/doesn't want to and its more about me than him - DH asked if i could start bf him again but i have no idea and dont' know if it will help..have been awake all night worrying about it all.....got to go as i will start crying and can't do that at work

sorry for ranting but have nowhere else to let off steam!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2009 11:23

Have you looked here too pf?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 29/06/2009 11:28

x post loulou. You can restart bf if you want to, but you don't need to out of guilt, if that's all it is. You have done great bf'ing this long.

And I'm a shouty parent plenty of the time, with or without dh, so definitely don't feel alone in that!

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 11:51

PF it may be worth a look on the MN reviews [http://www.mumsnet.com/Reviews/Highchairs&call=IndexPage here], before you decide on what to get.

LouLou please don't be so hard on yourself. It is not unusual for LOs to go off milk when they are taking more solids. He may be happier with formula from a beaker rather than a bottle? it may be worth a try.

O is really fussy and unhappy I think another dose of ibuprofen is in order.

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 12:06

lets try that again here

aubergenie · 29/06/2009 12:15

Sorry you're feeling so bad Loulou. The same (milk refusal) thing happened to a friend of mine recently, leading her to stop BFing and she was hugely upset, so I can kind of understand how horrible must be. As CSWS says you've done a great job BFing this long and you could start again if you felt it was the right thing for both of you.

You've had a tough few weeks, a house of CP, returning to work and now this, it's not surprising you feel down. Keep coming back here for support if you need it.

loulou33 · 29/06/2009 12:53

thanks aubergenie - its jsut what i needed although its made me cry (again)...i think my hormones are up the wswanny due to stopping bf. i remember they did last time with ds1

If i were to start bf again, would i just put Joe to breast as often as poss and/or express? i am now at work til thurs so that's not feasible during the day, would doing this am and pm be enough to get my milk back or would it be too little too late? Joe also wont latch on if there is little milk there so i don't know whether he'll go for it....will try tonight i think but i am not hopeful....

also Joe has snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon (he's supposed to have milk mid-pm but he hates it) what do others give as snacks...joe has rice cakes and raisins but is not keen on fresh fruit as its too hard work for him (still no teeth) i want to give him a bit more variety, any suggestions gratefully received!!

aubergenie · 29/06/2009 15:11

Awww, sorry to make you cry again Loulou.

It might be worth starting a thread about restarting BFing to get the best possible advice.

S hasn't got any teeth yet and he enjoys soft fruits like strawberries and blueberries for a snack. He wasn't convinced by the orange segments I gave him at lunchtime though. I made a batch of those cheese and veggie scones and butternut squash muffins and keep them in the freezer. They're nice tasty little snacks. I can repost the recipes if you're interested. They're both very easy to make. He also likes cucumber sticks dipped in hummous or cream cheese. I think they're quite cooling on his gums.

We're going stir crazy here. It's too hot to go in the garden and we can't have any friends over because of the pox. If I sing any more songs, I think S will probably start crying.

KSal · 29/06/2009 16:45

aubergenie.... i would love to see those recipes again. Emma is loving feeding herself now and i am a bit short on ideas

on another point i bought Fay Ripley's Family Food. Will let you know if its any good. I like the premise that its food that all the family can eat as i'm not overly keen on cooking stuff specially for Emma (mean old mummy)

I don't remember being invited to a south coast meetup. Are you two now a quiche?

Ds also does well with fresh fruit without teeth loulou. He does blueberries, bananas, nectarines, apricots, strawberries, kiwis (golden ones esp yum), pears (I get the perfectly ripe ones), oranges...

Ds had an allergic reaction today, we assume to his suncream. His forehead and just below went all red and blotchy, and his eyes got all puffy. Poor poppet looked a right state, but we washed the affected area, gave him a feed and put him down for a sleep, and he woke up fine.

He appears to be dropping his morning nap though. We are consistently failing to get him to sleep (he'll nod off feeding, but then will wake and not want to go back to sleep when put down), so he troops on until about lunchtime, when he looks fit to drop, so ends up getting put to bed with no/very little lunch but a bf instead. I can't imagine that he's ready to drop it every day yet, but he's skipped the last 2 days and only had a 1 - 1 1/4 hr nap each day.
