Star sounds like you did everything brilliantly. Ds has been awake crying twice already tonight which is unusual. As soon as I cuddled him he went back to sleep but once he was put down cried again- so sounds a bit similar. I agree about the not cuddling too much for the same reasons so I resorted to stroking and shushing. He also seems to quite like the hand on the back approach, I guess they just know we're still there with them. I've just managed to feed him a bottle so hopefully he'll go into a deeper sleep now and get a good night. He's hardly had any naps today and he's now got two more teeth properly through so I don't know what's wrong. Not more teeth I hope.

MM- Good luck for Monday. Sometimes I think ds is fine if I'm not there but clingy when I am. For example when I left him with Mum for a day last week while I was on the course he had a great time but then was clingy when I'm was back. If I pop out he's happy with dh but is clingy when I'm back. Maybe for him it's out of sight out of mind

I am so bored tonight. Am tired but don't feel like going to bed iykwim. Dh is now in bed. Feel like going out and doing something exciting which isn't going to happen. In fact it is so bad I'm watching re-runs of Soldier Soldier on Sky.

RachieW · 10/07/2009 22:40

Star- I always go to reassure just because I find with ds if we let him cry he just gets quite hysterical. If it's not time for a feed I try to avoid taking him out of the cot and use the hand on back approach. If you think he needs a feed I would feed him. We always give ds a dream feed around this time of night. I take him out of the cot alseep and into our room, feed him and then carry him back to the cot in a sleepy state. He normally then goes back to sleep properly but sometimes needs a little pat to get off again.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/07/2009 23:04

I'd feed if you think the interval is long enough (say > 3 or 4 hours) but not otherwise, and def put back in cot rather than your bed.

Ds slept through ! First time ever. 7:15pm - 5:50am. Now I just need to get him to sleep a bit later in the morning!

MM - Until I went back to work S would turn to me all the time. Yesterday we were at my sister's house and dp had to pop out of the room. S started crying even though I was still sitting next to him. So it seems that it doesn't take long for them to transfer their affections. So hopefully it won't take M too long to be the same with your dh.

Star - How did Q sleep in the end?

jenwa · 11/07/2009 08:38

csws yeh for D sleeping through

star yeh for Q settling too

mm pants about sale for you, can you ask the hospital to nip you there is a wheelchair, you may get priority

rachie lol at going out and doing something exciting, sometimes I think that but then wonder where to go and waht to do!

Work been ok this week, spent yesterday afty in the art room making a picture, was actually really nice to sit and do that without any distractions

Off to friends this am ish and have invited in laws over for tea tonight as they had girls both days this week and came to us for 7:30 so thought it would be a thank you, also they often have the boys on a sat when SIl at work and BIL drops them to have time out but they are away so inlaws have day to themselves so thought they may get on with their house then come for tea later.
My mum and sis gone to Holland, I was invited but it was not good as I was going back to work so did not want to take time off, mum suggested taking dd1 but DH did not want her to go away for nearly 2 weeks abroad and actually I was having doubts. Also she would have been bored sitting in my aunties house with them all rambling dutch (although she does understand abit) So now I have the task of visiting my dad whilst mum away although I am sure he is loving being on his own with the dog!

Great news CSWS.

I'm shattered today. I was at my cousins ;ast night helping her make a cake for her mums 60th birthday today. It took us hours! It didn't come out too bad in the end and it was nice to spend some time with my Cousin.

Well done Star, it sounds like you did really well last night

I would love to find out what time DD would sleep until in the morning but DS wakes up, jumps out of bed, runs into DDs bedroom and jumps in her cot. He then stands in there shouting 'mummy, sissy and Adam up please' It is really cute to go in and see them both stood up.

I'm off to my cousins today for my auntys surprise 60th party.

Good Luck next week MM, I hope it all goes ok in hospital.

Yay for sleeping through CSWS, do you feel full of energy today?

Star- how did the rest of your night go?

Had a good night here too, despite a bad start ds slept until 5:45 and then went back for an hour after his bottle and then another 20 mins in bed with his Dad about 8.30am

Jenwa- Can't see myself letting ds go away with anyone but me...this may be tricky when he is 18 Just think I'd miss him too much. A friend with a 1yr old dc has been away twice so far without her baby. I still haven't done an overnighter! Didn't know you spoke Dutch? Am always very of people who can speak more than one language. I have a bit of french and german but not enough to hold a conversation.

Looks like it's going to rain here ds and I are supposed to meeting up with friends in Greenwich Park.

Honeymoonmummy · 11/07/2009 10:25

Hi all, sorry not been on for ages, we going to Yorkshire today to see some uni friends of DH's, should be good, they last saw Poppy when she was 2 weeks old! I've not caught up but when are u in hosp MM? Can u send me your address on FB? Will catch up soon I promise!

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/07/2009 10:25

Not full of energy at all rachie, due to 5:50am start, and a late night (friend that I hadn't seen for a while popped in around 10:20pm!)!

You're nuts myjob!

We're off to a 3rd b'day party of one of dd's best friends today. It's 'woodland creature' fancy dress, for adults too, so we are going as a 'Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom' ensemble. Dh is wise old elf, dd is princess holly, ds is ben elf, and I am Garston the ladybird!

Yay csws for sleeping through!!!
Q slept IN COT the whole night, no feeds, when he woke, I just went over, said "shh" and put hand on back or belly however he was positioned and he drifted back off. There was one wake where he cried for about 5 minutes, but I just let him do it and didn't take him out. He woke properly for the day at 6.30 then I fed him and he went back to sleep until nearly 8
Going to do same again - let him cry and go in and reassure every 5-8 min but not lift out of cot or feed. He was really hysterical screaming at some points but I don't think it would have helped to pick him up (he would have done same once put back down). He needs to learn that I'm still here, he's safe... all is ok and it's just sleep!

star6 · 11/07/2009 10:44

oh and he only woke momentarily 3 times!

rachie no need to be of me as I dont speak that much but my mum does and she teaches DD when she has her on a fri. I know a little but not enough really. My mum is from Holland so we have a big fammily over there, she was youngest of 14
I have left dds but then not be BF and wanted to do it early so that I never worried IUSWIM. I wold have found it hard dd1 being away, more worried if anything had happened like her being taken in a busy airport whilst my mum checking in or something. I freak about that kind of thing!

csws have a fun day, party sounds great, hope to see some pics of you all

star yeh for good night then.
HM have a great day, bet your friends will be shocked to see how much P has changed.

myjob hows the house now? Is it quiet???

Q has been practicing standing without holding on all day. He stands holding on, then lets go, steady steady... .like on a snowboard, then grabs the table or basket...whatever he pulled himself up on.. again. I don't find it amusing, pistachio, I keep telling DH to sit him down

Ok, so was planning to do sleep training again tonight and Q fell asleep feeding. I tried to wake him but he just wouldn't wake. I put him in his cot and he still wouldn't wake... so he's asleep now, that's good I know, but did I lose what we did last night now? I'm confused

No worries, myjob. She will move!! Just savour the moments. A friend of mine has a baby who didn't crawl until 15 months and walked at 16.
