pistachio just watched your fb video - he's adorable!! And SO MANY teeth!! wow!!!!

star6 · 11/07/2009 20:21

myjob - she's beautiful and developing just fine! There's no rule about when babies should start walking or crawling... just that they should crawl first for best results later in life, I think. She will be fine. She's just savouring her time not having to move about by herself, too besides, as you say - she has so much to watch with her brother running around her so busy all the time that she's probably in no rush.

star6 · 11/07/2009 20:42

It's so quiet here. If no one is around, I guess I'm going to go to bed

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/07/2009 20:46

No, you didn't undo last night's work star .

Are your two languages Scottish and English pistachio?

Party pics uploading to fb now.

Yes thank you myjob. They are a lovely bunch of friends, and the weather actually turned quite nice as the afternoon wore on.

Evening all.

CSWS - Lovely pictures. I particularly love the one of D with his hat on. Oh and the man dressed as a tree! Glad you had a nice day, the weather has been terrible here!

Myjob - The reason N doesn't move about is she doesn't need to! DS gets her everything she wants doesn't he? She's got it sussed, why bother making the effort when her big bro will sort it? She do it when she'd ready. M moves mainly to grab toys from ds when he's popped them down for a second. She can really motor when the opportunity presents itself!

Star - Hello Don't go to bed yet! Actually, if I got up at the time you do I'd be in bed already!

Pistachio - Did I imagine it or do you have some Italian blood? Is that your second language?

Rachie - The first time we left ds over night was when he was 15 months and we went on honeymoon. It was horrible. I am only leaving M now because I have to. I think the first night will be ok as I'll actually get some decent sleep, but I am going to miss her soooooo much.

Aubergenie, CSWS and Rachie - I know you're right, M will be fine with DH, but I would like her to miss me a bit IYSWIM! Babies are like dogs though, they don't realise they've missed you until you get back!

M did a poo on the carpet tonight as DH was letting her roam around with no nappy on. She was having great fun and was moving around much more easily. She pulled herself up to standing for the first time, but her crawling was still pretty haphazard! The poo was a yellow tiny baby poo, shows how little she has been eating while she's been ill.

She has a new favourite thing to do, she loves walking around holding my hands and has got much better at it recently. She does lift her legs very high though, as if she is trying to climb a stair!

OH MY GOODNESS! Do you mean my memory is better than Myjob's on this occasion? You do look Italian pistachio. I am a 1/4 Italian but I look French. My little brother looks very Italian.

Hmmmmmm Myjob - Maybe you need to have a word with DS to get him to leave things for N to get herself. If she's not used to trying to move for things then that might be why she hasn't learned what to do. I wouldn't worry too much. My friend was a second child and didn't walk until she was 18 months. She started bum shuffling at 12 months.

Marthasmama · 11/07/2009 22:15

Myjob - You are never wrong! You remember everything! It makes a change for me to be right.

Dh is out tonight so have just had my lovely brother over to keep me company. He entertained ds so much that he went to sleep within about 5mins of being put down and he let us get He's just not that into you out from Blockbuster He is currently my fav person..hee hee.

MM- I bet when M comes to visit you she will be so excited to see you. Lol about poo on the carpet, not happened here....yet. How is M today? Is the rash going?

Jenwa- One of 14? Wow and I thought one baby was hard

Am glad I'm not alone in the overnight thinking, do feel a bit neurotic sometimes. I just think that now I've got ds why would I want him to spend time away from me if he doesn't have to. Having said this I am being brave and planning to let ds stay with MIL for the night on 1st Aug as we are at a friends wedding. We are all invited to it but I thought she could come and collect him about 6ish and take him home. I think dh and I do need a night out together as we haven't had one for ages and to be honest the sleep would be good too. Having said all that I know I'll miss ds loads and probably be at MIL's around 6am on the Sunday!

Off to check out CSWS pics.

RachieW · 11/07/2009 23:04

CSWS- Pics are fab! You all look great and such beautiful pics of your dd and ds.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/07/2009 08:02

Thanks for all the comments on my pictures ladies.

Ds didn't manage 2 nights in a row unfortunately, but at least we weren't up quite so early.

dh is driving me crazy! He is so bloody useless sometimes when it comes to ds. We are off to MIL now so no time to explain properly...just arrrrrrrrrrrrgh . Back later.

star6 · 12/07/2009 19:07

Rachie let's meet up. I often feel the same way and I'm in Surrey

Marthasmama · 12/07/2009 19:17

Argh! I'll swap your DH for my DS Rachie. He is being such a naughty little boy lately. He speaks to DH like he's a piece of poo, he keeps annoying and upsetting M, he won't help around the house and he is a stroppy little monster when he doesn't get his own way. He is 6 in three weeks and he is not getting any presents until he starts to behave himself and learns to look after his things. I don't think he believes us, but he is in for a nasty shock on the morning of his birthday when he gets nothing. It will break my heart but he has to learn. I will stand by my word on this. We really don't know what to do with him.

Marthasmama · 12/07/2009 19:18

Oh sorry Rachie, missed your question of last night. M is much better thanks. Her rash is going and she much more her old self. Thank goodness!!

RachieW · 12/07/2009 20:54

Star meeting up sounds great..though maybe we should warn the area we choose as the air may turn blue. On my part for certain

Have calmed down a lot now, it wasn't a major thing, just cummulative fuckwittage as Bridget Jones would say. For example, this morning I was busy making chicken burgers to freeze for ds and dh was playing with him in the front room. I looked at the clock and realised it was gone 9am and ds hadn't had breakfast. Not a big thing but of course dh couldn't think to get it himself, no he needs to wait for me to sort it out. Then after breakfast I go to sort the kitchen out and hear dh joking "Oh J are you fixing the radiator for me?" Now two weeks ago when ds began moving we agreed that radiators would be a no, I know they're safe at the moment but come winter if he hangs off the pipes he will be skinless. We also discussed agreeing together what would be a no as if we said it to lots of things no would be ineffective and that we should be consistent. I reminded dh of this and he said "oh I didn't realise we were being strict about it" Yet another conversation he hasn't listened too

Then he takes ds upstairs to get dressed, on my command request and about five mins later shouts me in a panic. Yesterday I told him that I'd been letting ds suck on a big bit of cotton wool as it keeps him occupied when he's getting washed and dressed and also I always found it quite fun as a child. Anyway of course I watch what he is doing with it and re-soak it in water regularly so he can't bite chunks off. Anyway dh had let him bite a chunk and it was in ds mouth so I had to scoop it out. Not sure why dh couldn't do this as it was easy to remove!

Now the thing that winds me up is that dh is intelligent and has quite a senior position at work managing different clients, he's also quite practical but when it comes to ds he is often incompetent and unable to focus in two things at once (like dressing and eating of cotton wool) It just makes me wonder why I bother asking him to do anything because really this morning it would have been easier to do it myself. Grrr

Oh and the whole reason we were rushing about was cos dh had arranged to be at MIL by 11am, even though he knows we are useless in the mornings and it takes ages to get organised.

Sorry that was a massive rant which probably sounds not bad at all but like I say it's cummulative and sometimes very draining! I hate to wish ds's life away but I really think it will be better when he is around 2 and more independant. Then I can see dh coming into his own and taking him to the park etc alone.

RachieW · 12/07/2009 20:55

MM- Glad M is so much better

RachieW · 12/07/2009 20:57

Oh and sorry that ds is being so naughty- we could do a swap if you like You are very brave with the b'day present threat but like you say you have to carry it through. I hope he starts to be nicer again so you don't have to do it. Do you think he's just ready for his summer hols?
