ok... about 3 seconds in between cries now... I feel like I'm timing contractions

star6 · 07/07/2009 20:18

Am I talking to myself? Ok, contractions stronger now... and coming more frequently again, hopefully will space out again soon and be weaker

lol at myjob saying "my job" in your post!
Too bad DH's schedule doesn't work for him to be off when you work, but I guess then there would be no family time... something we struggle with as well

star6 · 07/07/2009 20:36

He's asleep but that he now thinks I won't always be there when he cries Tell me I didn't do a bad thing! I know I didn't ... I think... just need to hear it

pepperrabbit · 07/07/2009 20:47

star - you didn't do a bad thing! He's asleep. He's fine!

He knows you will always be there, because you let him know this by popping back in every few minutes. He has gone to sleep happy that you will still be around even if he can't see you.

Now you must do the same thing tomorrow, and you will almost certainly find that it is much quicker.

OP posts:
jenwa · 07/07/2009 20:53

star no you did not do a bad thing, you helped him to send himself off to sleep so that is a positive thing. Lol at you and timing contrations and I lol at myjob saying my job too hehehehehe!
mjyob Glad Naomi ok and settled now and hope the milk comes back in. I think she must have had what she needed.

rachie Going back PT so weds and Fri so not much but dont want to go at all but heyho! Glad you liked the nursery and all went well. I am sure he will be fine.

I just spoke to MIL on phone who wants break down on P's day and yet has still managed to keep me on phone for ages telling her then telling me she is doing it different, why ask? She wont Feed her at 12 as wants to collect boys from playgroup so she can see dd1 to tell her she will be coming back for her later, surely feeding DD2 is more important??? See that was not too long a whinge

Right off for bath and ready for work in the morn, god I will look like a zombie with a beehive! I may have to give thiws working stuff up as its not good when you are obsessive and need stuff in the right places all the time! Surely I can get signed off for that How do you manage star????

oh myjob sorry you feel sad about your job and leaving but I think it seems best for you, maybe something else will turn up at a later date if you still want to work then You can always come and get my room ready for when I come home after work

jenwa · 07/07/2009 20:55

oh and star if it makes you feel better we let P cry tonight as she never wanted to sleep and eventually she did but when we went back she was face down the sideways in her cot with her legs stuck out the bars so at least Q knows you may not be there all the time but at least he is not left stuck and is nice and comfy sleeping!!!! I am not a bad mum really

RachieW · 07/07/2009 20:55

Myjob- Glad N settled, no advice about bf I'm afraid as am ff but hopefully CSWS will be around later as she seems to be the one to ask. Sorry about your job too, I know what you mean about loving the people you work with. Any chance you might get to go back in the future?

Star- I think you did the right thing. We leave ds to cry some nights as he has been fed, is clean and is just so tired he can't drift off. We pop back in when to shush him gently and pat his back. We don't use a time just when he sounds upset, quite often the crying is just moaning. He doesn't seem to be affected by this method...although who knows what he might say to a psychiatrist in years to come

Have dragged out my Annabel Karmel cookbook again tonight and used some of the 12-18 month recipies for ds. Made cheesey chicken (sounded a bit but was nice and even dh said he's have it for dinner) and then some veggie frittas. Am feeling all domestic goddess-ish

star6 · 07/07/2009 20:58

I take it back
he was NOT asleep.
DH WENT IN AND CUDDLED HIM
He was SOOOO close!!! wtf? I'm very very unhappy. Well, he fed like 4 sips and feel right to sleep after all of that... now asleep in cot. But I don't think he got anything from the crying

aubergenie · 07/07/2009 21:01

Ooooh, I am very tired. Spent the day with the class that I'm having next year. Lovely kids but very demanding. Several with very complex needs and one with no English at all. And no additional support as the TAs are off sick. It'll be much better when I get to know them all better.

Myjob - I hope the milk situation was just a blip.

MM- Does M like you again now?

Jenwa - Good luck at work tomorrow - Hope it all goes well!

Star - I hope Q dropped off finally.

Purpleflower - about your dp restricting your access. I agree with some of the others that - along with a couple of other things you mentioned - sounds like quite controlling behaviour to me. I didn't say anything before, but it sounds a bit worrying. I hope you're not being cut off from sources of support that you could really do with at the moment.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/07/2009 21:01

And no myjob, it wouldn't suddenly happen that you had no milk. Glad that she has settled now .

Think it's ds' teeth causing the problem here. He was up again half an hour after going to bed, and had teething gel and nurofen. Hoping that that will see him through for a few hours.

Jenwa- good luck tomorrow. Am sure you will be out of the house on time looking fab. You always look very glam in your fb photos Your MIL sounds like mine, always an alternative way of doing things. I just let mine try now and more often then she ends up doing things my way as I am J's mummy and know him best

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/07/2009 21:04

Oh at your dh star.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/07/2009 21:04

Oh yes, good luck jenwa!

RachieW · 07/07/2009 21:06

Oh Star- sounds a bit like our house with both of us doing what we think is best- usually the opposite. Not surprised you are , I would be too and often am! Try again tomorrow though as like I said in my earlier post ds has learnt to self settle but does still cry quite a bit some nights.

Aubergenie- Sounds like you'll have a bit of a handful next year but hopefully they'll be a joy to teach once you know them. I've realised I prefer demanding sparky classes to those really well behaved ones.

star6 · 07/07/2009 21:07

Jenwa - is mil looking after P tomorrow? Sorry, I missed it somehow I think. Good luck tomorrow!!

csws, a friend of mine from the states just emailed and said that she stopped bf at 12 months and her DS is now nearly 2 and she still leaks sometimes . So, myjob, I think the milk will be there for a while

Does DH's sabatoge mean that I have to start ALL OVER again tomorrow?? ugh! I am house sitting for my friend who is going on holiday for 7 days starting on Friday... thinking about making DH sleep at our house and doing the sleep training with Q there for a few nights...
I don't think he meant to ruin it, I thought dh was in the kitchen making dinner after getting home but he decided to go in and cuddle Q without asking me

aubergenie · 07/07/2009 21:08

X post Star (and loads of others - I'm very slow tonight). How annoying!

And Rachie - I meant to say that it's great that you've found a term time only nursery that you're happy with. I think with childcare it must be a gut instinct thing. If it feels right to you, then it's a brilliant start.

Finally got M off to sleep. She has been sleeping pretty much all day so I'm not surprised it was a battle tonight!

Jenwa - Good luck for tomorrow. It will be fine and I'm sure you'll manage to get sorted really easily then wonder what all the fuss was about.

Myjob - Eeeek! That is a bit scary! I think my right boob has given up as I couldn't get a single drop out when I was expressing earlier. I have long suspected that M has been using righty as a dummy, so now it has given up the ghost! I'm going to look like a fiddler crab.

Star - They really are rubbish aren't they?! Mr CSWS and my DH have both done it too! When DH did it I said 'right, I'm going to sleep on the sofa, you get her back to sleep', but then I'm an old shouty dragon not always reasonable.

Aubergenie - Going back to work is so exhausting isn't it?! You do get used to it. M and I are friends again but she took a lot of convincing.

After nearly 20 hours of no milk, M finally had some this afternoon. It took hours of skin to skin time and lots of snuggling to get her interested in milk again. It sounds lovely but she was so hot, sticky, snotty and dribbly that it wasn't too much fun! Plus she was very fidgety when trying to settle. I am exhausted though as I have no break from her. I even had to carry her on the sling to go to the toilet!

RachieW · 07/07/2009 21:26

Thanks Aubergenie

Doh Myjob- completely forgot you'd posted before about training as a midwife. It must be such a rewarding job. I'd be useless, was blubbing earlier watching Discovery Health and premature twins in incubators
