mm is that really your house thats soooooooo nice! Bog standered hey!!!!
ponders off to look at new houses....................

Marthasmama · 30/06/2009 22:47

I live in a rubbish area Jenwa, which is how we can get something a good size. I do love an old house though, ours is 1903. There is no parking down my road which is a real PITA. Anyway, I'd gladly swap it for CSWS's place in the sticks.....

jenwa · 30/06/2009 22:54

It does not look a rubbish area!!!
We live in an old property, have blocked paved front for parking but its not a double fronted like yours! its prob simular age to yours too, need to check year as actually think it may be slightly older. They are nice though but do require work especially when you buy them and knock walls down to re arrange and convert the loft DH now thinking of knocking wall downstairs and moving the stairs too I think maybe we should do a self build insterad

Marthasmama · 30/06/2009 22:59

Well, last night we had drunk people outside taking an old kitchen bin from outside of next door's house. DH went out to see what was going on as they were very loud and the house painter had left his ladders locked up out the front so we were concerned about them. He was told to f off and get back in the fing house or he'll regret it. The guy was a Dad from the school too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/07/2009 07:03

Grrr - ds up at 12 and 4 for feeds. DD down for a cuddle at 3 (she's supposed to go to dh in spare room, but came to me instead ), both up at 6. That's just not cricket!

Marthasmama · 01/07/2009 08:57

That's still a huge improvement for D though isn't it? Well done on the sleep training! M woke up for one feed last night and only woke up at 6.30 because I turned her back round in her cot as she was sideways with the bar jammed into her fontanelle. Ouch!

aubergenie · 01/07/2009 09:00

That house is lovely MM. I'm very . Our place was built in 1900. It's a bit house, but we live in the basement where the servants used to live! And the sound proofing isn't great. I had a terrible night with ds, not helped by the fact that I could hear next door's alarm clock playing the call to prayer really loudly (they are a devout Muslim family and get up very early to pray) at about 4 this morning, then upstairs' alarm went off at 6. Dp finished work yesterday so he took ds at about 8 but I can't get back to sleep.

CSWS - As for work and sleep. I'm lucky in that I'm only going back for 3 weeks (3 days a week), then have the summer holidays off again (teacher). They'll just be using me as a supply teacher during this time and things are quite relaxed in school towards the end of term so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep during the day at the weekend before Monday. The problem's going to be in September if S's sleep hasn't improved. I think it's going to call for drastic action!

MM- thanks for asking about the Monsoon sale for me!

aubergenie · 01/07/2009 09:03

Your area sounds a bit like mine MM! One of my friends is a teacher locally and one of the children in his class was really distraught after they'd been burgled. Turned out to be the Dad of one of the other kids in his class who did it. Now, that was awkward.

Marthasmama · 01/07/2009 09:19

Oh that's awful Aubergenie! We are definitely in the minority at ds's school. I often get pointed at with my Stokke and if I ever dare to carry M in the sling I get called a weird hippy! DH is the only dad who ever turns up in a suit.

Myjob - I remember you talking about meeting up with Star to go to the museums but I don't think you said when it would be, otherwise I would have kept it in mind. I definitely remember saying that you were very brave taking ds and N on the tube! I won't be able to make it as I can't re-arrange to meet my friend again before my op. Which is really annoying!

purpleflower · 01/07/2009 10:20

Good morning,

Unfortunately I'm not able to make it to london. It's only 50mins to Liverpool street from here but I haven't got the £30 to get the train

Thanks for that fish pie recipe CSWS, do you think it will work the same with cod?

DD is obsessed with pulling my hair, as soon as I pick her up or even go near her her hand reach out and she grabs it it really hurts!!

DP has now decided that we can't buy a new highchair he is going to get the scummy old one from his parents and try to clean it up. It was perfect when it went there but they don't always take care of stuff very well.

MM, I was born in kent. We lived in Sittingbourne and born on the isle of sheppey but I can't remember it, we moved to essex when I was 2.

DD loves the paddling pool. It's only about a meter across, I stick an extra bucket of warm water in there and she will sit happily for ages All she wants is to be outside all the time. If the back door is open she will just sit by it, I'm not looking forward to when she is brave enough to try and climb out.

Happy Birthday for Friday HMM, I won't tell you how old I turned last week

Marthasmama · 01/07/2009 10:23

I think it's probably best if you don't mention your age Purple. I want to get a pool for M too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/07/2009 11:39

Should be fine with cod pf .

Ds spent lots of yest afternoon in the paddling pool too. Will put some photos on fb later, but am currently uploading 89 pics to photobox, so think my comp will be busy for a while!

Sleep wasn't a big improvement by recent standards (odd wet through nights excepting). He's napped for 1.5 hrs this morning though, which is 1.5 hrs more than he's napped the rest of the week!

Anyone got great ideas for light food for these hot days for us all? Salad not popular.

Marthasmama · 01/07/2009 12:03

Stir fry is nice and light CSWS. We have it once a week and M loves it. I know what you mean about needing something light. We need to change our usual dinner repertoire, we had chicken fajitas Monday night, M loved the veggies. Was it you that recommended Photobox? I thought it was Jenwa. at self.

Hi all
Been to town today to get a bag for the weekend so me and DD1 can go to London. Spent more than intended but the lads in the shop were very nice and Phoebe enjoyed the micheal jackson music so had to get it
really

myjob oh dear with the wet top, bet you had a laugh though and sounds like you had a nice time with your ds.

PF shame about high chair. I hate it when people do not look after stuff. DH and his family like that, its embarassing at times if my parents have loaned stuff and DH not looked after it! his family use things until they fall apart which is fine but they would last longer if kept in better condition!

csws jacketpots for light teas, another one which is totally messy but I love is baked bean toastie but would also love some ideas.

aubergenie at the dad robbing that poor boys house, hope he got what he deserved! boo for being woken early by the alarm too, nothing worse than someone elses!

mm so a nice man outside your house then, people like that really annoy me, thinking they rule the world and can tell people what they think! Bless M sleeping so well and hopefully her head is ok now

P is trying to crawl and rocking back and forth on her knees. DD1 did commando style for a while and then just crawled but P is either rolling the length of the bedroom which is quite funny to watch or rocking on her arms and legs and not getting anywhere or mocing backward
Still no teeth either but she has been blowing fantastic dribbly rasberries today Why is is ok to encourage them yet tell off DD1 for doing them in my face

ronshar · 01/07/2009 14:59

Very quickly would anyone like me to send you a shopping voucher website link? It includes loads of shops. I will need you to FB your email. If you already have it then ignore me.
Off to pick up DD1 from school.

star6 · 01/07/2009 15:22

Shall we say 11.30 meet up in London at the museums? You never know about the tubes timing and trains... can be difficult at times and not reliable. Maybe we can meet up at 11.30 at some landmark in the garden by one of the museums and have a picnic there for lunch? Sound good? then go to museums after lunch? what do you think?
csws are you bringing dd? She's so cute, I hope I get to meet her I couldn't tell from your message about her having school if dh says it's ok he'll look after her or she can miss it...

Marthasmama · 01/07/2009 16:29

Me? Shopping? Oh I hardly ever even go shopping Ronshar. Yes please.

star6 · 01/07/2009 16:39

yes please ronshar

jenwa · 01/07/2009 16:43

ohhhhh [stamping feet in strop emotion] I want to meet you too but can't. If I was taking dd2 with me to London I would have hung about but have to come home sunday so DH can go to work mon.

star6 · 01/07/2009 16:58

would have loved for you to come, too, Jenwa!
sorry about starting work, aubergenie... it can be exhausting on little sleep, but it can be done... . It's tough, though. You'll have summer hols coming up really soon, right?

star6 · 01/07/2009 18:40

aubergenie - also to say that it is surviveable (I know that's not a real word...) living on little sleep and teaching during the day - not ideal, but possible. So don't stress about September, you jsut find what works for you and get through it. I speak from experience as I'm still alive and well and Q still doesn't sleep through the night. I think it's the numerous and frequent holidays that make having a baby at home possible as a teacher
