Patchybob · 28/09/2009 21:04

Lydia how's Bill?

Phoenix · 28/09/2009 21:14

I used a travel cot with an extra mattress from kiddicare.com. We only used it for a few weeks because the amount of times i was picking Noah up and putting him down was killing my back so i ended up putting the big cot into our room (not that my child sleeps in it )

lydiathetattooedlady · 29/09/2009 08:16

hi all, we had a better night with bill although he decided it was play time 12-1am! i think he's either got a cold/teething or a bit of both! he's very snotty, lots of big bogies shooting out when he's sneezing-sorry tmi! but he seems to enjoy chewing my knuckles/side of hand/ his hands!
phoenix glad you've got things sorted for noah. bill isnt on baby gaviscon but did notice it was worse for day or so before it got better.
cot he slept in it last night and went down fine 8 -12 but we slept downstairs after that! will try again tonight! im perservering with it.

Phoenix · 29/09/2009 09:33

Noah went in his cot at 10 last night, slept in it til 11. Then i put him in bed with me (i just need sleep) where he slept til 4am. I fed him, put him in his cot on his belly (he's been sleeping on my chest on his front for weeks so thought i'd try it in his cot) and he slept til 7.50am . So now not sure if it's the gaviscon helping or he just hates sleeping on his back .

Glad Bill had a better night

lydiathetattooedlady · 29/09/2009 09:52

ooh, you may be on to something phoenix. Bill only sleeps on my chest, i may steal your idea and try him on his front! glad noah was better for you x

babyblue3 · 29/09/2009 16:45

Glad everyones' LOs seem to be feeling/sleeping better.

sleeping Marco fell asleep in his swing at 9:30pm and woke up at 4:30am. After a quick feed, we tried to put him in his basinnette right next to our bed. He didn't like that at all! So we put him back in his swing, and he went back to sleep until 9am! I dont mind him sleeping in there because it means I am getting sleep, but he cant do it for long! Soon he will be too big for the swing and where does that leave me??? Sleep deprived AGAIN!! LOL.

QueenFee - my DD1 slept in our travel cot for months. She refused to sleep in her 'big girl' bed, and the crib was being used by DS1, so she slept in there quite happily until she was ready to try the bed again.

question Anyone here use Bio-Oil on their scars and have noticed a difference?? I had hernia surgery last year and the doc left a really unsightly scar above my belly-button. Its red and raised and looks awful in a bikini . Have been using the Bio-oil, but it does not seem to be helping. Just wondering if I should try one more bottle before giving up.

JetLi · 29/09/2009 18:26

Evening all
Not much to report - all is well here. Booking for France now Hetty's passport came through. Looking forward to some whiffy fromage
Been on the pump today - hate pumping TBH. Not sure why, since it's not painful or anything. It's just not nice if that makes sense? I'd much rather just feed her directly I guess. Forgot to do the breat compressions so it wasn't v.productive. But needs must since we're off to see Richard Hawley on Thursday night and Grandma is baby sitting. Need to try and get in another couple of sessions by then.
Pram Push - the one I go on is organised through our local childrens centre Queenfee. It's sometimes a bit of an effort to get my arse in gear on a Monday morning but we always enjoy it once we get there
bio oil - I bought some for pigmentation and it didn't work for me babyblue

JetLi · 29/09/2009 18:52

Oh and Hetty has developed a charming habit of groaning when she does a poo so that everyone in the vicinity knows exactly what she's doing

rubyriley · 29/09/2009 22:36

babyblue I used Bio oil whilst pg and it made a big difference to my stretch marks (in fact my delivery midwife commentated that despite my size all up front I hasten to add, I didn't have any.} Felt very proud, despite lying there legs akimbo
Supposed to help existing scars, so I would try it a little longer maybe & see how you get on.

Lydia Glad Bill feeling better and you're feeling less concerned. Think you have to trust your own instincts and sure whatever decision re docs or no docs is the right one. Let me know how you get on with his cot? That move imminent for me!

QueenFee I agree with Phoenix & think maybe that the biggest disadvantage of a travel cot (got one at the out-laws) is that (at least with theirs) it IS a long way to stretch down to pick them up. Not great for your back!! However, I'm thinking that would like James to be in our bedroom for a while longer (is the guideline re cot death a year now? ) so will have to buy a small cot/travel cot as our bedroom though a good size, FULL of king size bed, furniture etc.!!!

JetLi Went through a car wash today whilst feeding James (don't ask!) & didn't get chance to wind. Later he did the loudest f*rts I've ever heard!! SO funny! And he was none the worse for wear...... (though of course would always recommend thoroughly winding!)

Gillyan · 30/09/2009 08:34

Hi guys.

How is everyone doing, had a quick read through.

neck had this with DD1 - chessey stuff and found sudocream sorted it. Not getting it with DD2 as she has to be bathed every day.

sleeping and cots DD1 has been in her big cot in her own room since she was 4 wks old. She had such a bad cold and was being very noisy and I think you tend to fuss them more when you can here every snuffle, the room is next to ours but we still had the monitor on! She has always been easy to put down anywhere, moses basket, crib cot. In the day I let her fall asleep on her playmat or in her bouncer. She doesn't have naps just nods off for about 30 mins about 5 times a day. She's still sleeping 7-7 too which is great.

colds DD2 had such a bad few, not sure if linked to jabs as well. Had to give her calpol quite a few times for temp and when she has a really runny nose. I use saline nasal drops to help clear her nose and they are great cos you pop them in and within a minute they make her sneeze so it all comes pouring out rather than crusting up!

teething have seen the doc and HV and both agree she is teething, wether any teeth will ocmethrough soon or not they don't know but she has the bright red cheeks, constant dribbling, chewing her hand and bouts of real irritableness.

periods I've just finished my second thought they may of stayed away longer. I have always had really bad painfull heavy periods but since having kids they are shorter! 5 days now but still very heavy - sorrt if TMI but I have to wear a tampax and then a sanitary towel too! Back on the pill.

prams and buggy's had to change her pram into the forawrd facing buggy option as she just didn't fit in her pram anymore, I was dead sad as loved her in that. It is nice though as she can see so much now when going round town.

games I have started to nursery ryhmes and things with Summe rnow, she's 14 wks now and so into stuff, I love this stage! She still can't hold a toy yey but she's trying.

growth spurts God she's having ne at the moment, feeding all the time and she's suddenly gone well heavy!

eczema Her's is terrible, I HAVE to bath her at least once a day to keep it at bay and she has special bath stuff. She has to have cream on 3 times a day. You can only feel it now and not see it too much but unless i keep up the routine with creams etc it flares up instantly. Started washing her clothes seprately in Surcare too. At least it's under conrol. I do feel for her though.

driving passed my theory test yesterday and doing well with lessons so fingers crossed I'll do my test in next few months! Yipeeeeee!

weight i've managed to lose a stone now in aboyt 7/8 weeks. Thats good as lots of cheating has been going on to!

Think thats about it, hope you are all doing okay.

lydia Glad Bill is sleeping a bit longer for you.

Hope those of you with reflux probs get it sorted, I have no experience of this. opoor baba's1

Phoenix · 30/09/2009 10:58

It seems tummy sleeping is the way to go for Noah. In his cot at 11pm, when we went to bed. Little wake up at 2.30am but just wanted his dummy so was straight back to sleep without been picked up and he slept til 5am. He had a bottle was back in his cot about 5.45am then asleep til 8.15am . Then dh came up to get him (he was already downstairs with ds1) and let me go back to sleep, i got up at 10.20am

activity I've seen those things for their head advertised somewhere, might try one. My god, I totally forgot about the weight loss thread!! Oopps. Never mind.

Summer is not right today at all, she slept for 3 hrs!!!!!!!! This avo - she never has more than 30mins naps in the day and she had runny poo twice now she's still up now too which is not the norm, have given a touch of calpol and she's in her sleeping bag thing on my bed and I'm hoping she go in her cot in a in! Wish me luck!

DD1 is making me smile at the moment, she keeps telling me she wants to go on a space rocket and me a space rocket man when she grows up with a big big helemt! Bless!

xxhunnyxx · 30/09/2009 21:38

Good news....Joseph slept through for the first time on Monday night, from 7pm-6am!!! And in his cot!!!! Last night he slept from 7pm-5am, had a bottle n then went back to sleep till 7.25am. I've started giving him the milk for hungrier babies at bed time so I think thats done the trick. He does seem to be very hungry at the mo, I think he's getting ready to be weaned soon.

Joseph also likes to be cuddled whilst he's sleeping in the day and often wakes up when i try n put him down and only sleeps for about 20-30 mins.

He had his jabs today n was really grumpy when we got back. Actually grumpy isnt even the word, he was SCEAMING, we had a snooze on the sofa n if i moved an inch he'd wake up SCREAMING. It then got to bath time so I took him upstairs (whilst he was screaming), got him undressed (screaming) and then once he was naked and I wrapped him in a towel he started grinning! I've never seen a transition like it. He went from screaming the house down to the point where the neighbours were prob about to call social services to smiling in a matter of seconds! Just like his mother lol.

Right think I'll pour myself a glass of vino and relax infront of the box now xx

Misspaella · 01/10/2009 10:45

Hunny your back!! Wow and how busy are you!?!? I feel so lazy in comparison. You have motivated me to do more things.

Phoenix Lydia glad the boys are ok.

Gillyan How is Summer today?

Ruby your post really hit me re Niamh. I am like you and really think how lucky I am. When things seem tough I just remind myself about this. It is hard to put things in perspective at times though.

Hi to everyone else...apple alid babyblue patchybob etc.. xxx

Tristan hasn't done many poo's for the last week and I am not sure what do. I just gave him warm bath and did lots of cycling of the legs and a tummy massage. His tum doesn't feel hard but he is spitting up loads suddenly and not feeding that great. I can only assume it is related. He is also stuffing his hand into his mouth tons and dribbling a river. He is 13 weeks Sat. Is teething really around the corner?

Cot he is still squished in his moses basket. We need to get our bunk beds for the other 2 DC's so that we have a cot again. I was even thinking about co sleeping to save on space in our room but don't know where to start. I am still freaked about the duvet covering him especially as it is getting colder and we can't really not have one.

Sleep looks like the 2:30-5:00am feed(s) are done. It's been a week and he has slept from 11:30pm-6/7am! Again, does that seem right?

Feeding slowing down on this too. It's about every 3 - 3.5 hours. I am hoping he is getting enough.

For my 3rd DC I am just as confused as a newbie. WHY?!

Weightloss I am going to step on the scales on Sat. I am scared - yesterday I binged on chocolate.

Hope everyone is having a good morning.

Patchybob · 01/10/2009 13:23

Hello everyone and all those lovely babies who are being good enough to sleep through! Very jealous over here!! If anything we are going backwards and last he woke up twice last night! Oh how tired am I today, coupled with my first migraine since having him (which I have had since tuesday) I am feeling a bit crappy. I thought that I was over the migraines for now but this one has been a corker. I always get the type that last for 3 days so hopefully it should be on the way out today or tomorrow. I can't go back on my migraine medication has I am breastfeeding so I am stuck with paracetomal and ibuprofen which don't really do much for me. I need to start accupuncture again as that does help.

That aside, Max is being so very cute at the moment, really chatty and cute and his new blond spiky hair is just starting to grow in.

Misspaella Max is slowing down with the feeding as well, he seems to take more, quicker now and its over and done with for a few hours. We are in a real pattern now so I know when is feed time which is so much easier! Have you thought about getting a sleeping bag for Tristan? Max is in one and it takes out that worry of the covers over their head.

Gillyan I hope Summer is better today

Hunny Nice to see you back, glas Joseph is being a good boy x

Misspaella · 01/10/2009 14:36

Patchy Tristan does have a sleepbag. Would I just then place him over our covers instead of under? If so that is a great idea. Would you place him next to me on the end of the bed or in the middle between DH and I?

He does nap on our bed regularly (all my other 2 did too) so don't have an issue with "my space" IYSWIM.

Phoenix · 01/10/2009 15:50

MissP - When I put Noah into bed with me he usually sleeps on my chest so i cover myself up then put him on top still in his grobag.

I'm pretty sure Noah hasn't got reflux now. The gaviscon doesn't seem to have improved him in any way. If anything he seems worse on it because he screams after all his feeds. He has been on it since Monday evening and the screaming isn't getting any better. Dh thinks to give it til the weekend then think about taking him off it and see what happens. I'm a bit scared of putting him to sleep on his tummy with all the cot death advice so am going to keep trying to get him to sleep on his back.

JetLi · 01/10/2009 16:02

MissP - my HV and others keep mentioning the phenomenon whereby some breastfed babies only poo every few days - even up to once a week. Could it be that? They've said to me it's because they "use up" all the breast milk and there's very little waste. Hetty is still doing one belter of a poo-y nappy every day so it hasn't happened here yet! We live in hope... Also I've borrowed the Dr. Sears book from the library and it says in there to put Tristan on your side of the bed and use a bed guard rather than in the middle of you and DH.

Patchybob · 01/10/2009 19:39

MissP I agree with everything that Phoenix and Jetli have said. I would put him on top of the covers still in grobag. Also have him on your side of the bed. It will just mean snuggling up to your dh a bit closer!!

Phoenix not sure what to suggest. I would speak to your dr or health visitor if i were you. have you tried putting him in his back but with a towel rolled up like a sausage around him in a u shape (not around his head
but around his bottom half) my hv told me to do that for Max to make him feel more secure in his cot IYSWIM, and it worked really well. I don't do it now as he is used to it but it worked a treat.

Phoenix · 01/10/2009 21:45

How embarrasing, Noah hasn't cried after his last 2 feeds. He has been draining some 7oz bottles for a few days so i made 2 8oz bottles and no screaming I just assumed it was the gaviscon because the 1st feed he cried after was a gaviscon one.....bad mummy.

Misspaella · 01/10/2009 22:11

jetli thanks for that, I have just googled Dr Sears. Looks interesting. I contemplated the co sleeping thing with DD but decided to put her in with DS1 but Tristan is still being bf (I stopped w/her at 3 1/2 m due to problems) and is my last DC I feel oddly more into the idea.

Poos he has done another one today. Phew. I just think he has finally settled with his feeding. Until the next growth spurt that is.

Phoenix so glad Noah is better.

QueenFee · 01/10/2009 22:25

hi all havent had chance to ready all but wanted to keep in my i'mon box
not too worried about the putting down in the travel cot as he only wakes once in the night and I will be moving him in with cerys at about 6 months
pooing alfie saves his up and does one every few days but when he does its everywhere! (i.e this afternoon all over his baby gro all over me all over the pram...)
He had his jabs 3 days ago and had a shocking temp atfer he was really sick as a result still he bounced back quickly.
Anyone got any tips on reducing the amount of washing you do I just can't keep on top of the mountains and mountains I seem to get. Literally the same day I empty one ection of my laundry basket it is full again HELP!!!!
cot-transfer my other 2 dcs transferred to their big cot with no problems. Hoping it will be as easy with Alfie
Alife took me by suprise this week and sat up by himself I was so shocked I made DH watch him do it again because I thought I had imagined it. He now hates lying down in the pram and has to sit up all the time.
hi to all and good sleep vibes

BonzoDoodah · 02/10/2009 13:16

Hey all - I've not posted for a while - had the flu and been ill. Very hard work with the two children, and the baby seemed to want to feed even more - just when I am most shattered. Maybe the milk isn't as good when you're ill. Exhausting though.

pooing time my BF boy only poos every 4 days or so and then it is a poonami

QueenFee wow at the sitting up - scarily early!

neck cheese my friend gave me some bibs that have a padded ring round the neck that is quite close fitting. I presume these would stop the grot getting into the neck.
I have a good trick for cleaning the boy's neck folds - seems to be the wrong way but if I lean him forwards he strains his head to look up and so straightens out all the neck creases and they can be washed easily. Ha gotcha boyo!

babyblue3 · 02/10/2009 16:56

pooing not lucky in this department. Marco still has one explosion per day, that if not caught in time, also ends up everywhere! I may as well wear old rags for shirts, since mine are either spit up on or poohed on... great fashion statement that is!

Patchybob can totally sympathize about the migraines. I havent had one since being newly preg with Marco, but I am very prone to them. Right now, I get pressure headaches. Whenever the pressure changes or it rains, I get a killer headache. I used to sleep with ice packs on my head because I couldnt take any meds (when preg or BF). It really helped me. My migraines last for 3 days as well... day 1 is the worst, day 2 is bad headache, and day 3 feels like a bad hangover.

Marco had his 2 month jabs yesterday, and he did quite well. I gave him baby tylenol before he went, then only once before bed since he was fussier than normal. Hopefully he feels better today, since I feel crappy with a headache.

So its the start of a wonderful day. While my DH was leaving for work and the two of us were having a quick chat (5 mins tops), DD2 was in her chair, freshly bathed, eating a banana and watching her favourite video on the TV. I get back to find she had given herself a facial with the banana, and that her hair was completely slicked back with said banana as well! Sigh... My DH had just walked out the door and my stress level was through the roof. Had to start from scratch and give her another wash and new set of clothes... which leads me to my laundry issues as well. With 4 kids, my laundry seems to multiply like rabbits!! The basket is NEVER empty! I would love to hire a cleaner!

to everyone
