It'll be great to see people at the meet up, I'm looking forward to it. Don't think I've ever been glamorous, only thin when was ill and lost weight at 21 and what is a 'perfect' mother? Luckily megan sleeps well, so not too sleep deprived, but still have the baby sick on clothes and saggy tummy! A friend of ours said he knew I was pregnant as my bum had got bigger and that was before I even put on any weight! Hope everyone is ok, glad your dd is better now logic.

uwila · 12/08/2005 19:31

Hey just for fun, I could make the meet up reservations under the "weight watchers drop outs". Just kidding!

Hope everyone is enjoying some nice choccies tonight.

logic · 12/08/2005 19:38

I am so of the sleep, littleb! Night before last, dd cried all night apart from 3 hours. Of course, I was so wound up and resentful that I couldn't sleep then. I wish I was joking but I didn't get 1 minute's sleep that night. Dh was supposed to go to the office yesterday and today but he has worked from home to help me, bless him. Luckily, we got 6 hours sleep last night.

So, how are we going to recognise each other in Chili's then, uwila? We probably won't be the only ones with sick covered clothes and wobbly tummies. It seems like a popular place to take children.

logic · 12/08/2005 20:02

Just tried on my pre-baby jeans and I could do all the buttons up! OK, so I couldn't actually breathe and I had to walk like an extra from a Monty Python sketch but it's progress!

shhhh · 12/08/2005 23:33

Logic..I'm not even gonna go there.! I can't even fit into my "first lot of maternity jeans" so theres no chance of me fitting into prepregancy jeans.
Well DH has gone out with lads he used to work with and I thought it would be nice for me to finish the bottle of wine that was left in the fridge..Oooppsss...maybe a bad idea as it's gone straight to my head..Hicuuppp..! . Its making me not so concerned about my weight so maybe a good idea !

Logic sorry to hear about your lack of sleep..believe me dh & I know exactly how you feel..dd was the same for the first 6 weeks. (I'm ending the conversation there though for fear of upsetting you.) In our case it did get better and I hope the same happens for you as well. We are just waiting for the teething to start now..

Re the meet up, I would love to see you all but as I live in the North West its to far me to travel, I can't wait to hear all about it though. It's a shame we can't post pix's on this thread so we can see what we & our babies look like..????
Hope everyone else is well. I'm just off to finish my cleaning while I have a quiet home !!!

Could I repectfully request that chat about the meet be posted on the meet thread ? Much easier than trying to coordinate all of the comments on two diffrent post natal threads.

Thanks.

uwila · 14/08/2005 15:48

I feel so much better know other still have that extra stone on them too! How are you supposed to exercise it off with a toddler and baby in tow?!?!?! God only knows what I'm going to wear to work tomorrow! Think I'll be clothes shopping in September (after I get paid). Maybe if I really put my mind to it I could lose 1/2 a stone in August. Only problem is I said this in July and it obviously didn't happen.

logic · 14/08/2005 19:15

Sorry to hear that you are feeling down, myermay. I hope that you get better soon. A change of scenery should definately help. A bottle of pinot sounds lovely but apparently alcohol is banned with these ADs. I have to be teetotal for the next 6 months+!

I am finding the weight hard to lose too, Uwila. I resent having to buy new clothes now in a slightly bigger size but my wardrobe is very limited atm.

uwila · 15/08/2005 12:39

Hope you are feeling better, Myermay.

Maddison · 15/08/2005 12:45

Hi everyone, just to let you know that I'm still here!!! I DEFINITELY don't get much time on the pc these days, especially since DS1 is on holiday from school

Bailey has his second lot of jabs tomorrow afternoon, hopefully he'll be as easy going with these as he was last time, he cried for all of 2 mins and didn't need any paracetamol either! Other than that he is doing really well, weighed almost 15 lb last week (hence the nickname 'little chubbs'!), he's quite a placid baby and sleeps quite well too, although this is a downside when he does get me up in the middle of the night iyswim.

For those of you who are feeling down ((((((hugs)))))). I know what you mean sometimes when things start to get on top of you, hopefully things will start to get a little easier.

Maddison · 15/08/2005 12:48

PS, I don't want to rub anybodys nose in it but I got back into my pre-pregnancy clothes about 1 week after the birth, although I do have a horrible baggy bit of skin which refuses to shift [smile). But lets face it I was no size 8 supermodel before... it was my wedding ring I had probs with

hi everyone, hope all is well, hope you feel myermum.

haven't been on for a while, just don't get the time anymore.

matthew had his 1st jabs and check up last wk and all his fine, he was very good with his jabs only cried for about a minute and then was fine all day. don't know what i was worried about now.

well thats my minutes peace up, gotta go. take care everyone and love to all babies.

Maddison · 16/08/2005 15:05

Yes Myermay, I couldn't believe it, I was really happy with myself But with DS1 it took months to get rid of my baby tummy, so i know what its like from that angle aswell

Well we've just got back from the baby clinic where Bailey has had his second lot of jabs, the nurse put the needle in his leg, squirted the stuff and it went all over my leg, so she had to do it again, poor babe screamed - and she still had his right leg to do Still, it's all over now (for the next few weeks anyway)

Hope all May mums and babies are well xx

logic · 16/08/2005 20:56

Anyone else started weaning yet? Actually, I haven't seen any of the early ppl on here for a while like Claudi2 and fisil. Anyway, dd is getting ridiculous. I appear to have given birth to a gannet, not a baby. Every feed in the day now she demands a 4oz bottle of omneo (which is thicker than normal formula) and the entire contents of both boobs and then she is slurping on her fingers because she is still hungry! I can't keep up. The osteopath told me that pureed fruit would be better for her dodgy stomach than rice so earlier I gave her pureed banana and apricot. She loved it! She was grabbing the spoon out of my hand and shoving it in her mouth faster!

shhhh · 16/08/2005 22:15

Logic, I am thinking of weaning dd soon as well. She is 13 weeks today and is also on the omneo comfort. She has 2-3 bf a day and about 3 bottles and these are usually 7oz, tonight before bed she has just had......11oz!! LOL poor little thing cpouldn't keep her eyes open, i'm not surprised! I think she is nearly ready for something. I don't know where to start though..what did you start doing.? DD is also one for munching on her hands.
BTW what do you mean about dodgy stomach.? DD's dirty movements are always V loose which could be down to the omneo but I don't know if it's normal or if we should be concerned. She has always been like this but I'm never sure if I should mention it to my HV as she doesn't always seem much use iykwim.

I took her swimming today for the first time. She was a bit wary at fist but then quite enjoyed it (i think!) She wasn't as keen as she is in the bath but at least she didn't cry.

logic · 17/08/2005 09:03

Your little one sounds just like mine, shhhh. In fact , your little Freya was born just hours before my Francesca!

Does she watch you eat and begrudge you every mouthful in a 'I could have had that myself' kind of way? That's another sign. I think you're supposed to start with pure baby rice in a packet that you mix with your breast or formula milk so that the baby gets used to the feeling of more solid food without a weird new taste then you move onto very pureed fruit and veg. OTOH, my dd didn't care! I think the osteopath was talking about the colic in her stomach. Your HV should be able to give you weaning advice. The packet of rice says from 4 months though and a lot of people say not to wean before 6 months but I think that each baby is ready for food at a different time.

Tinker · 17/08/2005 12:27

Hello all. Sorry for all those who are feeling down, hope things pick up for you.

Am not thinking about weaning yet, am going to try to stick it out until 6 months. She does watch what we eat but, hey ho, you're gonna have to wait a bit baby . Breastfeeding is still going really well and, whisper, she sleeps through from 8 til 8 now [touch wood, please hope I've not tempted fate emoticon]

LittleB · 17/08/2005 12:28

Wow, I can't believe some of you are weaning already - our babies are growing so quickly! Megan is still happy on 5x6oz bottles a day, although she's also chewing her hands alot, but I think thats teething as she's not that hungry. At least her gums aren't too sore though, she just wants to chew. I've bought her some teething rings but she can't yet hold them in her mouth, although she's learning fast. Logic have you tried lavender oil in the bath, or on a tissue out of reach in the cot, or massage to help your dd sleep, both worked wonders for megan and really help to settle her. We mix the lavender oil in a little milk so it blends with her bath water, also leaves her smelling even more gorgeous than usual. Must go as she's waking up!

logic · 17/08/2005 13:26

8-8 Tinker! Not fair! Thanks for the tip, LittleB, I'll have to try it. Yesterday she had another cranial treatment and so she slept in her own room from 10 until 2am. Miracle. OK, then she slept in our bed until 5:30am at which point she threw up in my hair and I was so tired that I just went back to sleep. Waking up with dried-in sick in your hair is not nice.

shhhh · 17/08/2005 13:43

Logic, the joys of being a mum.!! Saw a photo of Posh spice at the weekend and thought...mmmmm..there is no chance she looks after her kids herself. She is a thin as can be and I have never seen any trace of Baby sick on her shoulder or in her hair..Mmmm wonder if it takes her hours to even leave the house like it does me???! LoL I finally left the house last week to go into town, got into town then noticed the sick on my shoulder! Haaaa!!!!!!
Wow madness that our dd were born so close to each other and are so alike in many ways ! Thanks for the tips..Yes she does watch us eat with a drooling mouth, in fact dh noticed it first while he was working his way through a steak.! Torture or what !!
I did actually try mashed up apple this morning, lets just say she looks like her mummy when she dislikes something and starts heaving . Bless though, I have never seen her heave and it did actually make me feel quite quilty. Think I may try baby rice first!
DD is currently sleeping in her own cot, I'm trying to move her gradually into her own room by putting her to sleep in her own room during the day & us at night. Hopefully within the next week or 2 she may be sleeping alone ..Makes me feel quite bad as I actually like her being with us but people keep making comments...you know what its like.
Anyone else still have ds/dd with them at night?

logic · 17/08/2005 14:05

lol at the heaving. Aw bless her. I suppose apple is quite a sharp taste compared to milk.

Oh don't listen to what other people think :-))
Do what makes you happy. Personally, I sleep very badly with dd in the room (she is sooo noisy) and we have one of those monitors that detects breathing and flashes a green light on our handset every time she breathes so I feel very secure having her in the other room.

shhhh · 17/08/2005 16:32

Logic, just tried dd with baby rice..felt bad..felt as though I was giving her something she shouldn't have suppose thats just me not wanting her to do things that show she is growing up... Anyway she was cautious of the baby rice but then quite liked it ! Wasn't shovelling it in but it s a start..! Yippee !! Will continue like this for the next few days and go from there. Thanks for the advice.

RE: DD sleeping with us we have that angelcare monitor which is brilliant, detects her if she stops breathing for 20 sec..OTT I know but keeps us reasurred. We even have it on while she is sleeping next to us ! BTW this is the 2nd monitor we have bought since she was born. The video monitor was good but I could hardly see her breath!!..Again OTT but she is sooooo precious....

logic · 17/08/2005 20:05

I'm glad to hear that the weaning has started well

I like the breathing monitors, they're really reassuring aren't they? I was thinking of getting a video one but now I won't bother!
