Uwila brilliant! I have found a clinic in Manchester...Thanks again.

shhhh · 05/08/2005 23:36

As a few of us on this thread are combining bf&bottle can you advise me about periods...Basically I'm still waiting for mine. Not that I want one iykwim (God who does )but I want to know that all is ok with my body following the birth.
My HV saw me today and asked if they had returned to which I replied that they hadn't. She seemed shocked and said she thought they would have given the fact that I was both bottle & breast feeding. She told me not to worry and that she was sure things would return to normal sooner or later...Thing is I AM now worried ! LOL...!! Anyone else the same as me..?????

logic · 06/08/2005 08:15

Not to worry, Shhhh. With ds, I was combining breast and bottle and I didn't have a period for over a year! Might have been due to the mini pill though. I saw the GP about it when ds was 9 months old and he said 'why are you complaining?'

I've only had one AF since dd was born.

uwila · 06/08/2005 08:40

Same here. DS is 11 weeks now and no sign of a period in sight. I only breastfeed twice a day, and the rest is bottles.

ABow · 06/08/2005 10:43

Shh I've had two but they were pain free and only lasted two days! I've seen other folk on MN saying they haven't had one for well over a year

shhhh · 06/08/2005 17:42

Phew what a relief ! I'm not on any form on contraception but at least some of you are the same as me.

matthewsmummy · 07/08/2005 20:08

hi everyone

hope everyone is feeling good, and all babies are ok.

matthew was surposed to have his jabs last wednesday but it got cancelled which i was quite annoyed about coz i had got myself perpered for him being upset and unsettles that day, so now they are this wednesday. did anyone find it really hard when they were done, i know im probley gonna cry and look stupid, did anyone else get upset when the baby cried afterwards?

my hv told me my gp would send a form through to confirm an appointment for his 6 wk check up but i never recived anything, so i popped in their the other and asked them what was going on and they hadn't even sent me anything and he was 8 wks that day, but they have finally sent me an appointment through for tuesday but ds will be 9 wks then, did anyone else have theres this late.

i had my first period 6 wks after ds was born, but i only bf for the first 3. im sure its nothing to worry about shhhh, im not on any contraception either. im sure they will return a normal when you stop bfing.

shhhh · 07/08/2005 22:24

Thanks mm. Following your questions, yes I did get upset when dd had her 1st jabs & she is due for 2nd lot this wed & I know it's going to upset me again..What can you do though?!! Its all part of being a mum. My mum tells me that if I think its bad now just wait till she falls for the first time....
DD had her 6-8 week check done at about 6 weeks but was done by a locum. Due to this and him not knowing what checks he should do it was done Incorreclty. On my PN checkup the dr asked if all was ok and I brought up my concerns about her "checks". Turns out her red book hadn't been completed to say the checks had been done (because they hadn't!!) but the HV had taken the Original part of the form for her records knowing full well things had been done incorrectly LOL..!!!! Anyway dd had the checks done once she was about 9 weeks. All is fine. TBH as long as they get done around this time I dont think its cause for concern. Its just that if any problems are identified its best the are sorted asap. Don't worry all will be ok. HTH.

uwila · 08/08/2005 06:49

DS is going for his 8 week check and first 5-in-1 jab tomorrow, when he will be 11 1/2 weeks. I've intentionally delayed it because I don't really like his little body having to cope with 5 at once since I thought I'd let his immune system mature an extra 4 weeks before he gets the jab.

ABow · 08/08/2005 10:30

DD didn't have a 6 week check - sh ehad all her checks at the same time as her first jabs which was at 9 weeks.

logic · 09/08/2005 21:22

Had a bit of a scare at the weekend, dd's temp went up to 40.4! Took her to the hospital and they ruled out an infection so it must be some sort of virus. Poor kid is really miserable :-(

uwila · 10/08/2005 11:14

DS was my little star for the jabs yesterday. Hardly cried and then slept all afternoon. He's sooooooooo cute.

Right now they are both off at the playground with our new nanny. I can't believe it's time to go back to work already. Monday is my first day back. I'm actually looking forward to it. But, I am going to miss my kiddies terribly.

Anyone else back at work yet?

ABow · 10/08/2005 21:17

Oh Logic. Poor you. Hope she feels better soon

logic · 10/08/2005 21:19

Thanks Abow, the temp has broken now thank goodness. I thought that the docs would be a bit annoyed at us taking her in but as far as we are concerned it only has to be meningitis once! As it happens, she was the only patient and three bored doctors and a med student were fighting over her.

uwila · 10/08/2005 21:23

Oh good. Glad it's better, Logic.

shhhh · 10/08/2005 23:56

LOL at uwila.."Glad its better"...Haa sure she meant glad she's better ..Just had a chuckle to myself!!
Goodluck with Monday Uwila, nope I'm not at work yet and I think I'm going to be a sahm as long as all is going well with dh's job (Self Employed IT consultant). I'm quite enjoying having time alone with baby and not having to rush around with work etc. I hope those of you who are returning go back ok and those of you who aren't have fun !! iykwim...

Logic, glad all is ok with dd, I dread the day that dd gets a cold let alone needs hospital treatment. You shouldn't worry about being seen by doctor etc, you need to be so sure these days with any slightest thing. It's not worth taking the risk. Hope she is on the right side of it. DH & I had a V bad virus last week and luckily dd didn't manage to get it..god knows how but we are so glad as it floored us both for 2 days.

Hope everyone else is ok.? DD had her 2nd lots of vaccinations today. She broke her heart, bless her but was smiles by the time we got back into the waiting room. She was such an angel.... I was much more confident as well, knew it was something I had to do..
How did others go?? Matthewsmummy..??

uwila · 11/08/2005 07:19

Shhhh, I meant "it" as in the fever. I wasn't calling Logic's baby an it.

shhhh · 11/08/2005 17:31

I know !!! Was only joking about it . Just thought it sounded funny as in "ha ha"!

northstar · 12/08/2005 11:10

Hi all, I am just signing up for the meet up in sept, providing i can find flights at a sensible price and a sensible time! I wish more of us were going though. We are still all enjoying life in the northstar household, especially now that I have done a pg test and it was negative . I will be taking NO chances from now on.

logic · 12/08/2005 12:21

I've had a pg scare too, northstar! I forgot to take the pill on one of the rare nights that dd wasn't in our bed! Luckily ours was neg too.

It'll be lovely to see you at the meet. Problem is, I am imagining you all as glamorous, thin, perfect mothers while I am still trying and failing to shift the baby flab from my huge backside and a looking good day is when I get time to brush my hair. That's without mentioning the black bags under my eyes and the permanent sleep-deprived glazed look.

uwila · 12/08/2005 16:05

glamorus, thin, perfect... Sadly, I am none of these things.

shhhh · 12/08/2005 16:14

Logic & Uwila...I look in the mirror and see: A gorgeous, Thin & sexy woman... huh... then I realise it's not a mirror i'm looking through at all but the window at my local clothes store etc & & . Sighhhhh.
I will get there one day !! LOL even my mum commented on how big my bum had grown since I got pregnant. "Mmmm you didn't seem to put weight on in many places, mmmm but your bum"...Yeah cheers mum.! Dh always says that my mum lacks tact. Think I'm starting to see what he means.

Those of you who have had pregnancy scares . Are we meant to have a sex life after having a baby???!!! Think the next time we have sex will be when we start on baby number 2...a while off yet !!!!

logic · 12/08/2005 16:25

Thanks Uwila and Shhhh. You've made me feel a lot better!

logic · 12/08/2005 17:13

Shhh, are you coming to the meet-up? Sorry, can't remember if you've said.
