Hi all, well due to distance I won't be able to attend the meet up but I'm sure you will all have a good day. I live in lancashire and don't really fancy travelling that far alone with baby!
Anyway I had my edinburgh test on Monday...I scored 15 so I guess that explains why I have feeling as low as I have done. I have seen the hv and dr and they want me to stay off medication and to monitor it over the next few weeks. My hv is due to visit me weekly which should help. My dr (who is also suffering from pnd: it happens to the best of us) has advised me to go and see her if I feel it's not improving before the next apmt in 3 weeks... I feel better today but the problem is that I have up and down days.

DD is doing really well, she is now 12lb 1oz and still on bf and formula. In fact we have now increased her feeds to 8oz bottles LOL.!!

I remember some of you complaining about locum doctors while you were pregnant well I am just going to rant about ours...DD had her 6-8 weeks check last week by a locum. At the apmt he asked if I had any concerns to which I pointed out her nappy rash. Cream was prescribed. I also asked about Jabs for dd as we are thinking of going to Dubai in Nov, he suggested booking in with the nurse..... Anyway at the jab's apmt the next day the HV noticed that the 6-8 weeks check form had not been completed and asked if I had forgotten the red book at this apmt to which I replied that I did have it but dr didn't ask for it....The form was removed anyway and jab's given...Anyway at my post natal check my usual DR asked if all went ok at dd 6-8 week check and I advised that he hadn't really done anything ! My DR was mortified once she checked my book to see the paperwork had been removed but not completed ! Apparently at this check dd's eyes, heart, lungs and hips should be checked. DD now has to go back next week for this check again. Huhhhhhh! RANT OVER.
Those of you who are due this check soon be aware of what needs to be checked.

Oh yeah congratulations to Matthewsmummy. Hope you have as much fun arranging your wedding as I did. In fact we have just celebrated our 1st year anniversary..Makes me wish I could do it all again

fisil · 21/07/2005 09:47

I might be able to make the meet-up - will consult with dp.

Do you feel better for having your feelings recognised, shhhh? I hope things improve for you.

Down to just one breast feed a day now - hurrah! While moving from breast to bottle I've also had ds1 off nursery with chicken pox, so I decided to potty train him too! That's why I haven't been around much lately!

Tummy buttons. Ds2 has a sort of little pinky red blister/ blob coming out of his. Any ideas?

Hello all, sorry for those of you who aren't feeling too good, hoping things turn around for you. I put off my HV on Monday, wanted to do Edinburgh test, luckily, don't think I need it.

Won't be able to go to a meet-up (bit far from me) but have fun and report back.

matthewsmummy · 21/07/2005 10:49

thanx shhhh, hope your feeling better soon.

matthew is now 10lb 7oz, and is having 5, 5oz bottles a day which still seems to be keeping him satisfied. and he's certainly growing ok.

he is 6 wks old now, i can't believe how quick the time goes by (anyony one feeling that too?)
it just seems like he's always been in our lives, and we wouldn't be complete without him now.

he is such a good baby, (so far!) he hardly ever cries (apart from when hes hungry or starts to get tired) but i surpose thats due to him not having trouble with colic, it must be hard for those of you whose little ones are suffering (i send my sympathy and hope they get better soon)

im just dreading when the teething starts. but ive heard that not all babies have a hard time with it so i hope all us may mums are the lucky ones.

what size clothes are your babies in now? matthew is 6 wks but is still in his newborn clothes, the trouble is he is very long and hasn't got much weight on him, so sum of the newborn clothes are too short for him but the 0-3mths are still miles too big (i could fit two of him in them lol) but they fit him in length not to bad. he has got such nice clothes aswell i can't wait till he can fit in them.

i won't be able to make the meet up, as its abit too far to travel with a baby, and i can't drive and wouldn't trust myself on a trian coz i'd probley in up in scotland or something coz i wouldn't have a clue where i'd be going.
but i hope all that are going have a lovely time and come back and let us know how it goes.

take care all xxx (love to all the babies)

Missblossom · 21/07/2005 11:10

Hi all,

Logic, are you still using Omneo comfort milk, my hv told me to try it with Luca this week, he just dosnt seem to get full on his normal milk and just wants to feed all the time. She told me to give it 48 hours if its going to work it will work in that time. He is not that keen on it I have to say. It makes him very windy and he really stinks. But it still dosnt seem to fill him up. Did it settle your DD.

I had him weighed on Tuesday he now weighs 15lb 3oz, also he had his jabs, I was not impressed, the nurse had a student with her, the student did the jabs and managed to bruise his leg, he was in a fowl mood all evening because of his leg. I f she is there at 3 months I wont be letting her do it again. I know they have to learn but she wasnt the one looking after a miserable baby.

Missblossom · 21/07/2005 11:15

mathewsmummy,

Luca is now wearing size 3 to 6 months clothes, he is 9 weeks old.

I wont be able to make the meet Reading is over 2 hours away by car and dont fancy the long drive.

logic · 21/07/2005 12:59

I'm not really using the omneo comfort much because she has started refusing a bottle. I'm not bothered because I'm enjoying the bfing tbh!

Dd is in 3-6 month clothes and 6-9 month sleepsuits and she is only 9 weeks old!! She isn't fat (only 11lb) but she seems to have a very long body so anything that has to do up underneath the nappy is a problem.

shhhh · 21/07/2005 13:46

Yes Fisil I do feel better now I know that its been proven as to why I feel slightly down. With hv saying I have mild pnd I feel as though there is an answer and i'm not going mad..believe me I did and still do feel like that at times..dh does lots of reasurring !

Matthewsmummy, our dd is 9+ weeks and is still in new born clothes. She is 12lb 1oz and I thought she was quite long but judging by what others are saying she may not be as big as we thought ! We have tried her in 0-3 mths stuff and they are still too big on her, actually she is in 0-3 pants with feet today and the "feet" part is empty iykwim ! I am only just starting to pack away some of the newborn stuff as it is starting to get to small. Not all clothes fit the same though so best check the weight given etc.
Misblossom, our dd is using omneo comfort and has been for the last 3-4 weeks. Its brilliant and seems to be working for us and dd. Settles her well. Its worth giving it a try.Let me know how you go on.

Preggars · 21/07/2005 19:47

Hi Ladies

I've just caught up! The little one is just about to get bored of the play gym, so I'll type as quick as possible. My milk is now easing off and I've stopped expressing. It's been a whole week since I stopped breast feeding exclusively and I feel fine about the whole thing now, as dd seems to snuggle up to me with a bottle. I think the hormones make you feel even more guilty at the time. Thanks for the advice re: quantities. As with DS1, I am following DD for a routine, and one has now emerged. She's now taking a last bottle (about 3 to 5oz now) at 9.30, and sleeping solidly until 5am, then 3oz and going again until ds1 wakes us all up at 7am... she is such a sleeper, thank goodness for that... as I had a lot of sleep deprivation with ds1.

thinking of you all. can't believe baby is 9 weeks!

p.s. olive oil works amazingly on cradle cap.

fisil · 21/07/2005 19:52

Preggars, I find bottle feeding so much more intimate than breast. Ds2 just fixes me with his gorgeous eyes, and sometimes even has to spit the bottle out briefly to give me a big gummy grin before getting back to it. We cuddle up together really comfortably - and he can do it all the same with daddy too. With breastfeeding it felt just like a process - plug him in and let him work away while I sat and waited!

booge · 22/07/2005 10:01

Missblossom, Daniel is also in 3-6 month clothes at 9 weeks, he weighs 15lb 4oz and only started at 8lb 5oz..we're calling him beefy after Ian Botham as it is an Ashes year.

Logic, the Dr has told me to let them run their course as they will come up and go of their own accord if left. If it threatens to grow too near his eye they will treat it. Best case senario it will only be 1 cm across and will have gone by the time he is 3. I am only concerned about the mark on his face, I worry that it might grow to be very large, I have read that they can be up to 25cm across although most are the size of a 50p. I also worry that it won't go by the time he starts school and I know how cruel kids can be. I've read up on the web about the possible treatments I don't like the sound of the side effects either so in the meantime I'm just keeping an eye on it to see what happens.

logic · 22/07/2005 20:34

I am worried about the possibility of kids being cruel about it too, booge. We have managed to get an appointment with the consultant for next Thursday so we'll have to see what he says I suppose. I don't really want her to have an operation either...

Well, I've officially got PND now and I'm starting on ADs .

Maddison · 24/07/2005 00:39

Oh Logic, poor you . This may sound odd, but I'm glad that you've recognised that there is a problem and that you are getting treatment for it. i had PND with DS1 and I understand how hard and awful it is. It may be helpful if you look on other post natal threads to see what others have done to cope with PND - it may give you some ideas.

Well Bailey is absolutely thriving, he had his first jabs last week and was totally okay with it, he only cried for about a minute - I must have the most unfazed kids ever!!!

My God, it's 12:40am - what am I doing here? I should be asleep....

hollya · 25/07/2005 11:54

hi everyone! don't seem to have time to log on any more coz alice never sleeps and when awake she demands to be held all the time. yesterday she had 2 half hour naps during the day and didn't go to sleep til gone midnight. thank goodness for my mum, fortunately she's a teacher and is on holiday. if she wasn't around i'd probably go crazy.

sorry to hear some of you are feeling down, hope all seems brighter soon.

re clothes sizes, alice is in 0-3 months at the moment, but i'm sure she'll be in 3-6 b4 long as she's really tall.

still finding bfing difficult, but am determined to carry on (mainly through laziness than anything else!). i justkeep telling myself it's only 2 months til she can start to be weaned. i know the WHO recommend waiting til 6 months, but most people i've spoken to started at 4.

yuk, i'm covered in dribble!! have to go and get changed, byeee

Tinker · 25/07/2005 12:03

Hi hollya. I also weaned my first at 4 months (now 8 years old) because that was the guidance at the time. WHO has recommended 6 months for about 10 years now but hasn't been "official" guidance here because, hey, govt would have had to give 6 months (at least) maternity leave. Now they have, the weaning guidance have changed! I'm going to try hold out to 6 months - mostly because I'm lazy and weaning is such a faff compared to breastfeeding.

LittleB · 27/07/2005 12:59

Sorry to hear you are struggling Hollya and Logic, hope things get better for you both soon. I would love to come for the meet up at Reading. Its 2 hours from me, but if Megan is ok we can manage that fine, It'd just be great to see people. If anyone lives between South Somerset and Reading I'm happy to give someone a lift too, they can help me map read! Megan is almost 11 weeks and weighs about 11lbs (10lb 10 1/2oz last Tuesday) she is wears a mixture of 0-3 month clothes and a few newborn clothes. I find sizes vary so much between shops, I have to keep trying things on her, sometimes she gets a bit fed up with mummy putting clothes on and taking them on again! She seems to be getting happier to play on her mat and sit in her chair, doesn't need to be held as much as before, which means I've been able to eat a few meals without cutting it up ino bite size pieces to eat whilst I hold her!

Preggars · 27/07/2005 18:52

LittleB - you're Megan sounds just like my first born, cute and ickle! This little lady is just like me, and bless her, at 10 weeks, she's coming to the end of her 0-3 month clothes and weighs in plus 13lb. She's soo happy and squidgy. Just love her so much.

Sending hugs to those with PND , I don't know much about it, but now stopped BF'ding, so am waiting for my first monthly cycle. I always feel blue for 1 day, but am fortunately spared this blueness when pregnant and bf'ding. xxx

shhhh · 27/07/2005 21:15

at last I have found a few minutes to get onto mn.! Well dd is doing well, she had her 6-8wk check on monday (first one was done incorrectly) and all is well.
Not sure if anyone has seen a message I have posted on the health thread..?? Well basically about 2 weeks ago while bf I could feel a lump in my left breast (as you cup the breast with your left hand to feed baby I have felt it with my left thumb). I have seen my doc and she thinks its a blocked duct and suggested leaving it till 2 weeks time, I don't think its wise to leave it in case its anything worse so I have asked to be referred. I'm seeing a private consultant next thurs...I'm quite scared and worried and I am wondering if anyone else has/is experiencing the same..anyone know of anyone who has experienced the same.?? Hopefully they are positive stories..
Regarding pnd, I am still having good and bad days but with the amount i'm going through this is not surprising. It was my nans funeral yesterday so I will let myself off for feeling down.
Hope everyone else is doing well? Logic, I hope things are ok with you and that the ad's are helping?xx

logic · 28/07/2005 07:45

Hi Shhhh, I get blocked ducts occasionally. I massage them while the baby is feeding until it goes away. I can quite understand you being worried though!

The ADs aren't affecting my mood yet but it's early days. Having some side effects though. I feel like I'm permanently drunk! I daren't drive but I do feel more positive because I'm actually doing something about it. The HVs are coming to visit me weekly too.

Today is dd's consultant appointment for her birthmark. [scared icon]

ABow · 28/07/2005 08:41

Good luck Logic. Let us know how you get on!

logic · 28/07/2005 15:33

Saw the consultant today and he said that it is a type of strawberry birthmark but he doesn't like where it is and it may cause her vision problems. He is referring us straight to Great Ormond Street so we will probably have to go there in the next week or two. He said that if they are going to laser it, it will have to be done soon and it will consist of 2 or 3 operations!

shhhh · 28/07/2005 20:30

Logic sorry to hear about your appointment today...It must be such a horrible thing to experience and to be helpless in a way. But at least something can be done and I hope it all goes well. Keep us updated.
Regarding the ad's, I presume the side affects will slowly wear off and I hope you are feeling more "yourself" soon. I'm not on ad's but am seeing my hv visitor weekly and due to see my doctor in a weeks time, hopefully when they repeat the edinburgh test my results should be lower..But given what I have been through and am still going through this may not be the case. Anyway hopefully we will be feeling better soon.

logic · 28/07/2005 21:01

Thanks, Shhhh! I hope you feel better soon too.

northstar · 30/07/2005 10:25

Hi all, hugs to everyone and their babies{{}}
Can you tell me is there a seperate thread for the meet up?

ABow · 30/07/2005 10:43

Hi Northstar - just responded to your cradlecap thread. Let us know how you get on

Shhh - how ya doing? Has massaging helped with the lump?
