hi abow, I have tried to massage it but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have had replies to my thread on the health section which seem positive so i'm trying to do my best to think positive until thurs. Thanks for your advice x

logic · 30/07/2005 14:15

this was the thread northstar

Maddison · 30/07/2005 19:54

Hi all, afraid I won't be able to go to the meet up, it's DS1's last weekend before he starts school so we want to do something special for him, plus I'm in the wilds of the northeast so it's a bit too far for us to travel - hope all of you who do go have a great time!

ABow · 31/07/2005 11:10

I've got the best dh in the world . Last night I went to bed early and left dh with a bottle of ebm to bath and put her to bed. At 4.30 I woke in a puddle of milk to find that dh had taken dd to bed in the spare room. When she woke at 5:30 he took another bottle of ebm and sent me back to bed. And then I didn't wake until 10am. Sleep - Now thats a love gift thats far better than roses or chocolates (at the moment at least)

matthewsmummy · 01/08/2005 13:22

hi all

hope everyone is feeling fine and all babies are doing great.
matthew is doing well, still being an angel most of the time unless he gets overtired and then we really know about it. ive just up his milk to 6 oz as he is 8 wks 2moro. he is still sleeping from about 11 till 6 each night, he does wake once at about 4 but i just give him his dummy and he goes straight back to sleep again. can't believe how lucky ive been, and how fast he is growing up already.

love to all mums and babies. take care xxx

LittleB · 03/08/2005 11:46

hello, megan is still only on 5 oz of milk and she's 12 weeks tomorrow! she is dinky though, weighed in yesterday at 11 lb 6 oz. she's growing steadily so we're not worried, i was pretty little too (still only 5ft 2). she does have 6 or 7 oz for her last feed at night, about 8pm, and will then usually go through to 4 or 5 which is bliss! I'm really enjoying being a mum, its great, so much fun most of the time, I can't believe how quickly they grow though, the time seems to fly by. hope everyone is doing well. Abow, she's now happy in her reusables all day, but still in disposables at night, we're getting there though, they give her a big squishy bum! (just like her mummy's ).

Missblossom · 03/08/2005 17:52

Hi all,,

Hope every one is well. Had my first day without Luca last Saterday, went to a friends wedding in Reading. It dosent matter how many kids you have leaving them for the first time dosnt get easier. I spent the whole week before hand worrying about it, imagining every scenario, everything that could go wrong. The baby sitter dropping him to losing him at the shops, obviously nothing went wrong, she quite competent (she has got kids of her own) But no one is capable of looking after your kids as well as you do!!!

Then just to make me feel even more guilty, the remarks of total strangers saying things like "only ten weeks old and youve left him all day!!!" "only ten weeks old, I`m surprised you didnt bring him with you!!!" Well all I can say is that you can really count on a silly little remark from a total stranger to make you feel really crap for the whole day.

Any way I had Luca weighed yesterday and he now weighs 16lb 1oz and is always smiling and laughing. And is now sleeping from 10 at night till 7 in the morning, and also has 6 to 7 9 oz bottles of milk a day.

ABow · 03/08/2005 20:32

Littleb - glad to hear you're doing alright with the reusables. We've just gone up a size with the cotton bottoms we're using from newborn to small. And small looks enormous on dd! We use disposables when away from home and today the darn things kept leaking - I much prefer the reusables.

Missblossom - I left dd for the first time at 2 weeks to go to see Mel C in concert. It was only for a couple of hours and was with granny. And then at 5 weeks left her with a neighbour for the day. dh and I really enjoyed that time to ourselves (nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean)

ABow · 03/08/2005 20:32

Ohh Shhh - good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you!

shhhh · 03/08/2005 23:40

Abow thankyou very much for you wellwishes...I so hope that tomorrow will give me news to clear my worries...I think the consultant will end up sending me for a scan so more waiting around....Please keep your fingers crossed....
Folowing on from your post about dh, I had a booster vaccination on monday to cover me for future hols, unfortunatly it made me very ill and yesterday pm and today was spent in bed and being sick. Anyway dh got up with dd during the night and took today off work to look after us both (note: dh is self employed so this is a major sign of affection ). Anyway I am so proud of him and he especially made me smile when he commented at 2pm that he hadn't stopped all day LOL...!!!!!! there's more to this mother lark than meets the eye.!!

Missblossom I wouldn't worry about what people say, at the end of the day us parents (mums esp) need a break at some time! You can't be that bad a parent anyway if ds is putting on weight and is content , LOL..!!!

logic · 04/08/2005 07:11

Good luck, Shhhh!

uwila · 04/08/2005 07:35

Hi everyone,
Does anyone else feel like their littl bundle of joy is growing like a weed? Seems just yesterday I had that cute sleepy newborn who wouldn't suck properly and now he's 11 weeks old and starting to wear his 3-6 month clothes. I'm back at work on Monday week (15th). Where has this maternity leave gone?

All is well with us. Our new nanny is arriving on Saturday (yippee!). So I'll be busy getting ready for her arrival in the next couple of days.

How did everyone do with the first set of 5-in-1 jabs? I've been delayin it a bit, but DS is haveing on Tuesday when he'll be 11 1/2 weeks old. Has everyone had the jab? Anyone planning not to have it? Oh I hate the jabs. I just don't really trust the NHS to always recommend what is best for us rather than what suits the population. I'm probably just being silly. I suppose everyone else has had this and all was well.

logic · 04/08/2005 10:20

Dd has had the first set of jabs and is having the second set on Wednesday. She was fine with them, I just gave her a bit of calpol afterwards. Tbh, this 5 in 1 is a lot more convenient. The new polio vaccine isn't live so you don't have to worry about the nappies being contaminated.

Tinker · 04/08/2005 10:30

Mine's had her 1st lot as well. Cried (of course) but, otherwise, fine. And, yes, you don't have to have the yukky polio one as well.

shhhh · 04/08/2005 11:06

Thanks Logic....Hopefully will update you with positive news later tonight....

Uwila dd has had her 1st set of jabs & the 2nd ones are due on Wednesday as well. She was also fine..we both cried a bit and I gave her calpol as well at night just in case..I know what you mean though about the nhs, sometimes they are seem more concerned with cost etc. Dh is currently looking into us having the MMR jab done seperatly. Not sure where we can get this done or the cost but at least we have about a year till it's due....But then time does fly as you said .

I just want to let you all know about a toy I have bought for dd and I think its probably the best toy she has so far...Its from ELC and is called "busy bugs car mobile" (have a look at this

Basically it doesn't look much and when it was delivered I was quite disapointed as it didn't seem to do much but dd loves it!!...Since she got it last night she hasn't taken her eyes off it!! I have been attaching it to any surface she is sat near and the creatures just hang down but she is amazed by them! Think the colours also grab her attention (Black & white). If anyone is thinking of treating dd or ds then I recommend this. Cost £12.50.

uwila · 04/08/2005 11:47

Shhh, yes we do the single jabs for MMR. It's probably laregely due to paranoia. But when I was pregnant with DD my cousins son was diagnosed with Autism. And I just said no way. No risk at all is work the £260 I'm going to fork out for single jabs. We have gone to Dr. Eden in St. Johns Wood for them. But, for DS I think I'll find a clinc closer to Sunbury so I don't have to get on the tube (which I don't dare touch since the bombings). Funny thing though, it took the second failed bombing to scare me off the tube. I actually took DD for her las jab on the tube after the bombings. But, then when the second attempt came along it really got me thing "right, when's the next one?" Okay, I have strayed way off the subject now. Must go get the kids and leave the house. I can't believe it's already lunch time!

logic · 04/08/2005 15:26

I would love to have single jabs for dd but I've got no idea where to get them from. Ds reacted badly to the MMR so we have decided, as a compromise, to wait until dd is at least two before letting her have it. We think that 13 months is too young for their little immune systems to cope with three such nasty diseases.

shhhh · 04/08/2005 17:52

Logic we are the same in that we have no idea where to get them done...Think we will do a "google" search to find out where does them in our area. I asked our practice nurse but she was useless and told me to think about it before we go ahead with the single jabs! Said it wasn't always the best route! Ha makes me laugh..like I can't make my own mind up!

Anyway as you can probably see i'm back from my private consultation following my concern over my breast lump. The consultant was lovely and advised me that what he can feel is nothing unusual and that I shouldn't really have been concerned. He advised me that Doctors have to treat and look for so many illnesses that it's not possible for them to be fully trained etc. Apart from the fact that it's cost us to be told this I'm not to bothered because at least I'm reasurred that all is normal!! Yippee..think i'm off to start on that bottle of wine....How much stress have I been under over the last 2-3 weeks..???????

uwila · 04/08/2005 19:42

Go to the JABS website and click the grey "Single Jabs Clinics" button. They will send you an e-mail of clinics offering the single jabs. There are clinics all over. You would really have to live in the middle of nowhere to not have one accessible.

uwila · 04/08/2005 19:43

Alternatively, post a thread in the Health section asking about single jab clinics. There are loads of mumsnetters who believe in single jabs and will be more than happy to point to one if they know of one.

Where are you guys?

ABow · 04/08/2005 21:05

Shhh - fantastic! That must be a huge weight off your mind.

Uwila - Thea has had her first lot of jabs too. She cried and her leg was quite inflamed and hot for a couple of hours but that just shows how good her immune system is. And within 5-6 hours she was right as rain. I trained as an immunologist (for fish actually but believe it or not their immune system is very similar to ours) and I tend not to get too worried about the jabs. Its the number of needles that bothers me the most so Thea got men c as a single jab and the others all together.

logic · 04/08/2005 21:59

I'm really glad that everything is ok, shhhh.

Thanks for the links, Uwila...

shhhh · 04/08/2005 23:11

yeah it is a hugh weight off my mind Abow..like everyone on this thread we all have newborn babies and it just made me think twice about things iykwim.
Uwila, thanks for the link, I will check it out now. I have finally got dd off to bed (think she is getting/got what dh & I have had over last few days as she seems unsettled at times..) so I have a few moments spare to check it out while the steriliser is on and before i'm off to bed!

Our dd had her jabs about 4 weeks ago but tbh I think she must have had same as Abow as she had x2 injections. One in each leg. I feel bad now for not knowing....I found the day so stressful and I so felt for her, don't think I was paying to much attention..does that make me a bad mum..?? Uwila btw we are based in the Northwest.
