By longwayfromhome on Thu 20-Dec-07 18:30:26 Hi. I'm due August 18th. I've never been pregnant before, so this is all very new. Feeling nauseous at the moment, but quite excited too. Greetings to all.

There you go with my introduction. 5.30pm here and DS still asleep from his afternoon nap ... oops

pertelote · 17/06/2009 22:21

Thanks ALBS... here's my first:

Hullo everyone! I feel like a bit of a latecomer with this thread on nine pages already!

Saw the doctor this week and EDD is 9/08/08. Very surprised to be pregnant as it's the first month we've tried 'properly' since coming off the pill and I've spent the last few weeks telling DH 'don't be silly, I can't possibly be...' Now he'll never believe anything I tell him ever again !

Fantastic to find so many of you here as I'm one of the first in our social circle to have a baby so there's no-one to ask all those silly little questions...

Feeling a bit soppy now about how long ago that was and how little idea I had what this year would be like and how important you would all be to me...

Here's my first post :

Could I join too? Think I'm due on 17th Aug and I have a nearly 22 month DD. Trying to not to get tooooo excited at this early stage, but I just am.

What an amazing journey it's been

Lovely day today catching up with friends, despite a totally overtired DD1, with accompanying tantrums.

Glad to hear today passed off ok hp. Sorry to hear of impending work shite shenanigans sazzles.

Impressive sleeping there minimiamla. Keeping fingers crossed that that level of perseverance shifts to the night-time hours.

I too am counting the days until we pass midsummer buckets. Crazy isn't it.... spend the whole winter willing longer days to come along and then complain they're too long. Oh well, that's what comes of living this far north I guess.

Miamla · 18/06/2009 06:15

hoorah hoorah, i'm a happy little girl
hey girls... is this what it feels like to not be completely exhausted?!
we were out last night, DS fell asleep in car on way home at 9.30ish, i transferred successfully to cot, he woke at 10.30, 2.15 and then up for day at 5 but hey... that's two wake ups!!! it actually feels like one because i was still awake for the first one!!!

TS i love that tent!!
hots yours is nice too though
sazz your company are daft! don't they all realise they should be fighting to have you some people just don't realise a good thing when they see it

all of these first posts are lovely. i reckon we should do the first post 'with baby' on each of their first birthdays

DP's birthday today so i need handholding with the cupcakes (eek, never made them before, wishing now that i'd done a practise run!) and can anyone blow balloons up? i almost passed out blowing 4 small ones up for my brother yesterday

VG - it's because then the days get shorter and the mornings not so light and the hope of a later sleep in than 5am. ooh raspberry jam mmm.

I have a crappy sore throut which is apparently a bad thing so have had to stop my meds (and they were just starting to work) and have antibiotics and am going to be poked by the woman with bad needle technique to check my white cell levels.

Sazzles enjoy your swim.

Well done minimiamla.

Miamla · 18/06/2009 08:53

oh my goodness! oh my goodness!!!!

do you remember how we do "my birthday your birthday" here ie we both get pressies on each other's birthdays? i'll explain why if anyone wants to know but

oh my goodness!

I really don't deserve to have such an amazing DP... he's bought me a new sewing machine!!!! The difference in my old machine compared to the new is kind of like changing cars from an old banger that you have to stroke nicely to get it to start in the morning to a beautiful little MX5

he made me cry when i opened it! i really can't believe he's done it!

and breathe!

and now i really need to pop out today to get him some more pressies

sazz no, not the one you're thinking of! haven't had a chance to finish it so it'll have to be a late present next week! but on a similar vein, i've got one in production from DS for him for father's day.. i'm really rather pleased with it
Oooh, you'll have to let us know if you have to spend any time working in London..we could do lunch sans babies!
when are they going to let you know their decision?

vg i'm smiling at the accuracy of your calculations! would you mind if i borrowed a bit of jam for my cupcakes please? was it a real faff to make?
as for work... i don't think you can go far wrong if you listen to your heart....

oops sorry to hear things not good with meds

pertelote · 18/06/2009 09:12

Miamla that's lovely - you deserve it Am a little intrigued by the double-gifting if you care to elaborate? [nosey emoticon] And what a good night! You'll be going out for dinner every night, then?

Miamla · 18/06/2009 09:19

he did his longest sleep before after having dinner at my mum's (which is where we went last night)...must be something in the air!
i'l elaborate on my birthday your birthday when i've got two hands

AnnVan · 18/06/2009 09:20

Morning all. Loving the first posts. Can't seem to find mine Although, I lurked for aaaaages before I could actually participate.

Oops You are not feeling well. Thinking of you.
Miamla you've had a good time all round then with a better sleep plus new sewing machine. Well done miamini and Miamr

Happy to report that I did indeed bounce the blues away last night. Got really good exercise too, then had a soak after dp went to bed, followed by a little bit of time playing Lord of the Rings Online
We're having real napping issues here now. Little man lets me know he's really tired, but when I put him in his cot he just ends up standing there screaming at me. I have to keep going back in and lying him down again, and he eventually goes off. Yesterday, he was crying with tiredness from 8am, until I finally got him to sleep about 130pm.

Miamla · 18/06/2009 09:32

here you go ann... your first two posts...

By AnnVan on Tue 01-Jul-08 18:32:55
question - am new to mn, how do i join this antenatal club?

By AnnVan on Tue 01-Jul-08 18:55:18
ok, I'm 26 just moved from London to Kent due 30th August, Child no 1. Have kept the surprise, though suspect it may be a boy.

cyteen · 18/06/2009 09:36

Miamla I am so pleased for you that sleep has finally happened not to mention the brand new sewing machine. What a sweetie! Also intrigued by the double gifting.

hotter glad to hear the first day is done and dusted. I am in a different office since coming back and I love it. Full of normal people, who swear and chat and put the lights on when the room is dark (can you tell normality is in short supply at my work?)

oops what a bummer, I meant to ask yesterday how your meds were working out. A friend was diagnosed with post-natal hypothyroidism several months ago and they're only just beginning to get her dose right. Tricky business.

Solidarity to all the early risers; DS was up at 4.30am this morning, yawwwwn. Still, meant I got into work a little earlier which means I can pick him up a little earlier. He is so delicious right now - I think this morning he was doing the open hand/close hand wave at himself in the mirror

He had a good day at nursery yesterday and made DP a lovely card and present for Father's Day (with help, of course). I have also got DP a card and a really cute book.

Off to find my first post now...

alittlebitshy · 18/06/2009 10:26

miamla aw that is a lovely lovely present!!!
Did dp win and decided to include ds in the double (triple) gifting or not?

Loving all these first posts!!!!!

cyteen · 18/06/2009 10:37

I meant to say albs that I completely understand why you had mixed feelings on rereading that old thread. It felt a bit odd of me to say how lovely and ahhh it all was when there was so much sadness in the thread, so I hope I didn't offend - I meant to qualify my words a bit more but was in a rush. Honestly I can't imagine what you all went through, what some are still going through. I'm just so glad for you that H is here and in your arms every day.

OP posts:
alittlebitshy · 18/06/2009 10:41

oh no i got what you meant cyteen.

Now I have my handsome boy the sadness is all worth it. If it all hadn;t happend I wouldn;t have H would i?!

Miamla · 18/06/2009 10:42

albs yup! i've sent you an FB message..... you have to come round with H soon for him to play! DP has done very well!

annvan you're welcome...

AnnVan · 18/06/2009 10:52

Ooh sorry miamla ooer what a faux pas that thanks for finding it for me though.

Miamla · 18/06/2009 10:56

alittlebitshy · 18/06/2009 11:16
