awww miamla for you. Are you ok???

Miamla · 27/06/2009 22:51

yeah, i'm ok just annoyed with him for upsetting me

how are you? how come you're still up? aren't DCs asleep yet?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 27/06/2009 22:55

I hope he apologises to you.

Both dcs asleep, dh watching a film as I was going to bed, been awake nearly 20 hours now.
I am just deciding if I should top up ds or wait till he wakes what do you think???

Miamla · 27/06/2009 23:01

he probably will tomorrow, he usually does when he's having a strop

i find its best not to calculate how long i've been awake for!

hmm, the ongoing dilema... do i wake him or keep fingers crossed he'll sleep for a little longer?! i'm personally leaving my currently sleeping DS to sleep but i know as soon as i get into bed he'll wake up!

lwfh · 28/06/2009 00:18

Hello,

8pm here. DS asleep. DH just had a bath and now watching the original star trek series. Did I tell you this story? He went out the day before father's day for a walk with DS so that I could nap and came back saying "look what he bought me for father's day."

Am being very chilled about it as he is a good man, but just hoping that he doesn't realise that the second series is also out on DVD.

No smelly cheese or wine for me tonight. Off to sort out the washing and make some popcorn.

Here are some happy thoughts for those of you who are stressed and up in the middle of the night ... hmmm ... tomorrow is election day in Argentina (I can see faces brightening already), swine flu here is still big news (you probably have swine flu in the UK too), and DS got spaghetti bolognase on a mobile phone recharger.

Right am drivelling.

Steaknife - I am with you on the oven thing. A thermometer sounds like a very good idea. I mostly just put things on to cook and take them out when they look done, but cooking is not one of my key skills.

cockroach update: none seen for over a week and a half now.

Breakfast:

I would lay some out in advance but all food is now hermetically sealed in boxes until the point at which it is consumed, but there is some apple cake in the fridge which early risers are welcome to enjoy.

We will be eating pastries from the bakery for breakfast in the morning as it is a Sunday. They are very sweet and unhealthy. One advantage of this country is that vake for breakfast is considered normal.

Right, thoughts for all, and off to do something useful.

TwilightSurfer · 28/06/2009 02:41

Evening. 9:30PM here. All dcs are asleep here in the hotel room. Reese in her playyard and dd1 in her TENT. Yes, a tent. We found her a really nice kid's pop-up tent today and since the hotel didn't have a room with two double beds, we opted for the post king bed suite with her in the tent. The hotel manager had bed linens sent to our room just for her tent. Too cute.

The reunion was amazing. By my last count (just now after looking at pictures) we had 51 family members there. I can count more than 20 that had other things going on so they weren't in attendance. Did I mention I come from a HUGE family? It's totally confusing with they do the pictures based on grandkids or great grandkids or great great grandkids. Everybody's yelling around going, "Why isn't so and so in this picture? Oh they're a great grand or great great grand." Very confusing. We had a really good time though. I miss them already.

HP I've got to give you a shout out because you've given me a new favorite saying... "shit-tip." That's great! Sorry if I'm on the slow end with that one, I am Amercian afterall.

LWFH My dh hasn't tried that gift trick yet....give him time, I'm sure he'll come up with that idea soon.

Dizzy Thanks for clearing up the name thing. I thought it might be you.

BIG WAVE to all I've not mentioned by name. Best of luck on a good night's rest.

NIGHT

oopsacoconut · 28/06/2009 08:30

Morning

We are in very chirpy mood here - DD slept from 7.30 to 4 then 4 to 8.15 DH and I were both awake at 7.30 wondering if we should poke her and see if she was still breathing but luckily for her she wriggled just in time.

Nothing really on the agenda here today - BBQ with my folks who are coming to collect my old car for my Dsis. Then packing for hols.

Brekkie her is cocopops, toast, fruit salad and coffee - help yourselves.

alittlebitshy · 28/06/2009 09:25

helloo.
good night here too. 7.30 til 6.30 i think (ds has only twice slept 12 hours - he seems v much to be an 11 hour man).

Church later then dd has a party (go karting). dh and i can't decide who gets to take her and who gets to stay home with ds .

cyteen · 28/06/2009 09:32

Morning,

Another 5am start DP got up with him for a couple of hours, then came back to bed and I managed to get DS off to sleep by cuddling him into submission. He was absolutely manic! This is why I hate the 5am wake-ups, apart from being knackering for us they can't be good for him. Everything gets thrown out of whack and it's harder for him to differentiate between hungry/tired/happy/playful/whatever.

Anyway, he did sleep till 9am (DP is still snoring) and I had a couple of hours' tea-drinking p&q so all good really. Been listening to Joanna Newsom and thinking about all the stuff that needs doing over the next week.

TS your big reunion sounds amazing! I can't imagine what it's like having that much family.

Miamla I hope you're being serviced with breakfast in bed, the Sunday papers and an apology right now.

Buckets hope your big sing went well yesterday! I have post-event donated - not been very together lately but am working on sorting that out...

OP posts:
Miamla · 28/06/2009 11:05

our conversation was along the lines of..
me: are you feeling happier this morning?
dp: no, are you?
me: it's you upsetting me

today's going to be a long horrible day

DS very chatty though so i'm off to play and have a cuddle with him (DS not DP)

Miamla · 28/06/2009 11:17

oh ffs, he's 'trimmed' the apple tree to an inch of its life. it was a beautiful tree

pertelote · 28/06/2009 12:28

Aw Miamla, sorry he's still being a grumpy sod. Not nice to take it out on the poor tree

DD is having a funny few days. At mealtimes she just wants water and in between she asks for milk all the time but won't lie still to drink it for more than a minute. And it's taking HOURS to settle her in the evenings. Luckily after that she's sleeping reasonably well... waking usually around 2 and 5 but not up for the day until 7. I reckon it's the heat, does that make sense? I haven't much appetite myself but of course it is harder to be relaxed about her living on fruit and water!

Got drenched by that thunderstorm yesterday, just between the bus-stop and home... today is DH's b'day, we are not doing anything special so I guess I should at least go and ice his cake. Have a good day, all.

sambo303 · 28/06/2009 17:08

lovely day here, strawberry picking then bbq with friends. thanks for the links dizzy. In the end we had aubergine and halloumi cheese with lime and coriander dressing, watermelon and feta salad. potato salad and sausages.

dp lying down (beer) ds eating (leftovers) me relaxing (mn)

cyteen · 28/06/2009 18:30

Sounds delightful sambo We've had a pleasant but busy day here, doing all the stuff around the house that has been mounting up for weeks e.g. cleaning car, gardening, scrubbing floors, eBaying, hedge trimming blah blah blah...very sweaty It's been lovely to have a weekend at home though, duly celebrated last night by DP and I and DS is being hilarious although he is so frustrated by almost-crawling that it's quite hard work at times.

Bathtime for him now so a chance for me to read my Good Food magazine, then once he's in bed I'll be making stuffed peppers for tea with apricot tart to follow.

cyteen · 28/06/2009 18:31

Btw, chocolate and beetroot brownies were a revelation; never attempt them if you even considering going on a diet.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 28/06/2009 18:52

evening all

miamla - hope its sorted itself out this afternoon

happy birthday Mr Pertelote

cyteen - well done you, we've jobs been mounting up here for years never mind weeks one day I promise, one day

party went REALLY well and am delighted to report it only started raining as we were leaving I didn't need blazing sunshine, I just wanted dry and thats what we got. Girls were all brilliant, place wasn't too busy as I think people were worried about the rain, company was good and the cakes I'd made went down a storm. Thats the 3rd time I've made the vanilla cake and its turned out a dream each time so possibly ready to post the recipe

only thing that dampened the day slightly was the fact we had DD1's birthday party there last year when I was 38wks pregnant with Dylan and had nipped up the road from the hospice

they're all shattered, have eaten their tea and I'm about to bath them and chuck them to bed so DH and I can relax

dizzydixies · 28/06/2009 18:56

DD1 starts her last week in primary one tomorrow - how the feck did that happen

the school is divided up into houses and her house won so they've got a special games day planned for Tues so need no rain then as well please - don't ask for much do I?!?

Hey ladies, here's a fresh new bottle of red to replace Steaky's one.

Had a great escape to Bristol with my friend, the singing thing was equally as much fun as the dining out, sitting in cafes and sleeping til 7.30am. Thanks to anyone who sponsored me, suddenly realised I done nothing in real life to find sponsorship so blatted as many FB friends as I could before I left! There's wobbly scratchy-sounding vid clips on my profile now so you can get a rough idea of the sound we made.

Lazy day in today while DH was out, lying in bed reading Captain Corelli while Kurt napped and the others pottered around in pants quite happily. Sobbed noisily and copiously last night reading part of it and I'm not even a third of the way through! Best book I've read since The Time Traveller's Wife 2 years ago.

Right, off to catch up til DH lets me have his bathwater ...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 28/06/2009 20:36

Glad all is well sazzles scary stuff.
buckets glad you ahd a good time, sounds great I am not at all....much
I also cried reading that book. It is lovely

Infact I have been looking at villa holidays in Kefalonia and other places recently.

Both dcs asleep, dh gone to work.
Need to shower and get things ready for am so I can go out with dcs so dh can grab a few hours sleep.
