Congratulations Wilkie! and Nemo! Got my #2 due in October, starting to panic about labour and how I'll cope with two, but as DH pointed out, I worried the same last time and it all worked out in the end.

Wilkiepedia · 15/06/2009 11:35

Hello girls!!!

Well, managed it. Just. Done birth announcement with gory details here - not as entertaining as Reggie's but the details are there.

Leo is doing well, he is breastfeeding but am finding it hard at the moment. He plays quite a lot on the breast and I'm not sure if he just uses me for comfort but am gonna talk to MW. Waiting for milk to come in so hopefully it will be a bit easier then. His wakeful period is 11pm-3am! Lovely.

Back later but thank you for the congratulations and congrats to Nemo too xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

eandh · 17/06/2009 17:53

hows it going wilkie?

I am shattered E's sports day this morning and after organising refreshemnts/tidying up and doing the garden this afternoon I am off for a soak

Wilkiepedia · 17/06/2009 18:12

J is covered in chickenpox. I am so worried about Leo although have spoken to GP and they said chances of him catching it are slim I have googled it (stupid I know) and scared myself to death

Fucking cheesed off beyond belief.

eandh · 17/06/2009 18:38

OLh mate what crud timing although I had heard the same as what your gp said and very unlikely that tenny tiny babies catch it (he still has immunity from you) how is all going apart form chicken pox disaster?

I have your card/pressie and promise to post on friday when I am at work and can get to PO

Lizzzombie · 18/06/2009 00:22

You've had a rough few weeks Wilkie - hope you're bearing up.
P had chickenpox when I was 37 weeks pg and the doctor brought me in for a blood test to check my immunity. They said it's only really an issue if the mother hasn't had it as if the baby was born when P had cp, my immunity would pass to the baby.

Hope J is ok with it. Such bad timing .

Lizz hope there have been no more kitchen based disasters recently. Is your oven sparkling clean again?

Eah hope you have recovered after sports day. Did E do well (or do they not do the 'competition and winning' thing anymore?)

PCF how you getting on? Can't believe B is 8 weeks old today. I think we might be approaching a routine here - mornings and nights are sorted - just need to see how things go in the afternoons now

Reggiee · 18/06/2009 20:21

PCF - btw i am reminiscing by reading all our old posts from jan07. can't believe how bad p was.

eandh · 18/06/2009 20:42

evening

Ellie di very well at sports day in teh interest of fairness they all get a medal/certificate for 'taking' part howvere they did put them in age groups for racing and Ellie won every one of her 5 races and the sprint race she was half teh field ahead (in the photos you cant see any other children ) she obviously gets that from dh and she loved every minute of it (unlike me who hated pe/sports day/cross country) Hattie ran in the siblings race and was very cute as she stopped running and held hands with one of the little babies who has just learnt to walk and helped her to the end!

Wilkie - how is J and hope Leo ok

Rgee- cannot believe he is 8 weeks old already

Lizz- did you get your oven clean?

eandh · 18/06/2009 20:43

pcf - Hattie starts preschool in septemeber I have to pay fees till Easter but it'll be so worth it to have a break! Hope T better for you now

Reggiee · 19/06/2009 17:29

PCF - When I say nights are sorted, I mean he only wakes up once and goes straight back to sleep - I can cope with that too. Looking back at the thread when P was that age, there's a comment about her screaming for 6 hours during the night . Couldn't cope with that.

Today was the first day with both of them, without any visits from friends or family to help. I am knackered!! I was pleased when DH came home!

Wilkiepedia · 19/06/2009 19:25

Ha ha - reading PCF and Reggie's posts made me feel loads better. A screaming newborn, spotty toddler and pouring rain does not a happy mummy make! Fuck me, forgot how hard it was!!!

Can I just ask you a night time Q ladies, L breastfeeds pretty much every 2 hours during night which is fine (I feed him laid next to him) but he won't go back to sleep in his moses basket afterwards, he will only sleep laid next to me. I'm not into 'co-sleeping' as I find that I just don't get enough 'quality' sleep as I am aware he is next to me. Any suggestions or is this normal and he will take to his moses basket in the next week or so?? Am dreading the nights at the mo.

Reggiee · 19/06/2009 20:34

Ahhh yes Wilkie. The fun period of screaming when put down in moses basket. I remember that...sigh...if it's any consolation, he doesn't do it anymore. I think it is extremely common. I persevered with putting him down in his basket and picking him up when the screaming got too much for me(so approx 2 seconds at first ).

Reggiee · 19/06/2009 20:35

But he still does scream when I put him down in the day. I think I miss his 'tiredness cues' during the day.

Wilkiepedia · 21/06/2009 13:08

Think BFing may be on it's way out...so time consuming and I just don't know how much he's had. Reassure me that I am not a bad mother

eandh · 21/06/2009 15:59

no you are not a bad Mum, you have given it a go and the main thing is that you and Leo are both happy!

Right got to dash as need to finish packing!

Shimmer · 21/06/2009 21:03

Hi all. Sorry to hear about J Wilkie, hope he's on the mend now? Of course you're not a bad mother by the way!! I've kind of already decided that i'm not going to b/f the next one. I know I should but after last time with F i just can't face it again. And I'm so looking forward to having a baby again, I don't want to go through all that pain and stress again. But I am determined not to feel guilty about it. You've done well to manage up til now!

Just saw your pics on FB RGee! So sweet!

I'm a bit knackered today. Was out at a hen night last night (And discovered that clubbing completely sober is about as fun as it sounds...) and then out all day today shopping and seeing my bro. and g/f. So good times, but rather exhausting. My mum bought F one of those micro scooter things too, which he has been scooting about on all day and LOVES!

Wilkiepedia · 22/06/2009 11:06

Thanks guys. Have actually started expressing - getting about 5oz out at a time, so much easier to give him a bottle of EBM as I can see what he is getting, he is such a sleepy feeder on the breast that it was taking up to an hour to feed him but with the EBM he is taking it in about 15 mins!! 3oz a time.

(sorry my posts are a bit self absorbed)

Shimmer - clubbing when sober - hmmm, that DOES sound like fun Have you had your 12 week scan (am guessing so - must have missed post). Everything OK?
