Roll call please!

Was just taking a look to see how you all were and just thought I would say CONGRATULATIONS Lizz!!!

Shimmer- We did BLW with Rachel, but only because she refused to let me spoon feed her. She would blow rasberries and wave her hands about to stop the spoon getting near her! It was a very slow process and I would say that she was not eating proper meals until about a year so was reliant on milk for a lot longer but it was much easier in some respects. I didnt have cold food all the time like I did with Luke by the time I had finished feeding him and I didnt have to make sep meals just gave her bits of the meal we were having in either fingers or chopped up. I tried it half heartedly with Ruth and gave up as it was much quicker to just feed her but she fed herself early so it was not much hassle. In the very unlikely event that we were to have another, I would do blw again as it really worked for us. It is very messy though, esp spag bol!!

EAH- does E school have healthy eating staus? Luke's school have been going on and on about healthy 'good' food and 'bad' food and he has also been talking alot about not getting fat. IMO it is important to have a balanced diet rather than banning foods at school. I am not trying to fight for the right for my kids to eat unhealthy food, but as I feed them a healthy diet I dont see any harm in giving them the choice or sweets, choc or biscuits as snacks at home., They actually choose a bit of fruit more often than not except rachel who is a biscuit monster!!! Luke's school have put the whole school into houses and they get a sticker if they bring in a healthy snack and dont if they bring in an unhealthy one. I just think that educating them is enough, rather than rewarding them or not for a snack given to them by parents! I will stop ranting now!! Hope it gets better soon.

3happy- Glad you are getting a bit more sleep. It is amazing how much more human you feel from having a block of sleep in the night. Mind you what I consider a good night now, would have been barely any sleep pre-children!!

Pink- I got terrible migranes with Luke and had to be off work loads through my preg with him for them. Not much helped except sleep (obv not really and option!!) and I got a yoga in preg book and did the breathing exercises when it was really bad. It didnt make it go away but it helped me deal with them a bit. Caffine also helped me so a strong cup of tea/coffee or a glass of cola when I took the paracetamol helped a bit too. Paracetamol is useless and you have my sympathy. xxx

Lizz- Luke and Ruth shared a room until recently (Luke is nearly 5) and they could have carried on quite happily. I think they would have been fine til Luke was about 7? That woudl give you a bit of time for things to recover and get the money back on your hosue?

Rgee- Ruth has not had her jabs yet. My frieds with dcs similar ages said that they had two nurses and did both injections at the same time. I remember trying to hold Luke still while the nurse tried to get all of the liquid in his leg as he writhed about having watched in horror as Rachel got 3 and screamed her head off. Horrible afternoon! Hope you enjoyed the footie. I am dreading this summer and sick of football already!!

Hi to Laughalot and anyone else lurking xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dragonhart · 25/05/2010 21:17

Just a quick update- Ruth ok but has had repeated ear infections (6 since christmas and the last one has been going on for nearly 3 wks now!) and so has a hospital apt in June for Ear nose and throat dep to see if it is glue ear. Her hearing and speech have def been affected and she has not been her normal bubbly self. I have been worried about her but hoping that they will do something quickly to try to help it. Appart from that she is doing well. Loving playgroup and climbing the trees at Luke's school

Wilkiepedia · 31/05/2010 19:44

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooo! First time I have a lurk for ages and there is the most fabulous news from Lizz. YEAAAAAHHHH! Nice one. Really pleased for you xxxxxxxxx

I ave only flicked through all the posts as it has been so long since been on here. Glad to see everyone doing OK. babies and bumps all growing well. God where does time go???

EAH - Coil. Just had mine removed. Have had it about 7 months and just couldn't get on with it. Insertion fine, no probs but have had horrific headaches - at least 3 a week - so have had it taken out which again, was fine, although they thought the threads had got lost but she managed to do it. I have heard more bad reports than good about the coil and I certainly wouldn't have it fitted again but I know Vino has one and has no probs with it.

Work is going mental. I am just so busy with jewellery and castings which is fab but also hard to get a good work/life balance. We are desperate to get some more people on board to keep up with demand to do 2D castings so if you are interested let me know and I will give you more info.

L is growing FAR too quickly and will be ONE in two weeks - how did that happen?! JJ is hilarious and keeps me laughing most of the time (although today both have been utter cretins and I have been rocking in a corner much of the day!!!)

I do keep up with the goings on on FB but I agree with RGee that I sometimes feel nostalgic for the early days of this thread where we got through 600+ posts in 2 weeks and talked about LTH's baby bogey getter contraption, and measured our bumps with loo paper (Lizz' DP being the winner). Alas, time moves on.

eandh · 01/06/2010 16:56

I remember the thread taking about half an hour to catch up on if I had been at work

I have nothing of interest to say half the time and slightly scary that in 3 months time I need to do Hattie's school application and in 15months she will be at school full time and I'll be slightly redundant (Chris keeps mentioning me worrking more hours however it wouldnt work in the holidays so ill have to have a think, still pondering on doing my degree but that depends on cost)

Ummm not alot else to say (thanks for tips about Ellie she is still obsessing over food however we printed off some 'example' plates of children food so she can see that somethings that she thinks are bad are actually okay) oooh and I am loving her swimming lessons (there is a pool at school that they use when they move to Juniors but you can pay for private lessons after school £5 a week and only 4 in the class with 2 teachers) and after 5 weeks she swam 10metres on her back with no floats etc (shes gutted she didnt get her badge but she needs to be able to do front and back)

laughalot · 03/06/2010 21:52

Bloody hell im shit at keeping up with the thread but I do lurk .

Lizz many congratulations woop woop.

Well nothing much has been going on with us just busy busy, I am a qualified teaching assistant in a few weeks which has been scary and hard but iv done it. I would like to do the role fulltime when lauren starts fulltime school next year but jobs are few and far between. Aidan now plays footie for a team so most of my week is either spent at a footie match or at training, its very hard to see 5/6 year old boys upset when they lose though. Lauren is still a madam x 100 lol its so much easier now she is at nursery everyday and she is a angel there. We go away on 25th june so lookinhg forward to the break.

Right im off, take care xxx

Lizzzombie · 06/06/2010 14:07

Thankyou for the congratulations!

Can I just ask though - With any of your pregnancies, did any of you feel like you had been kicked in the crotch? I constantly seem to feel like it & its not pleasant. I am sure I don't remember it last time round. Have googled it but most of the answers seem to refer to it in late pregnancy not early or mid.
Also am a bit gobsmacked that I don't actually have my proper 1st midwife appt until I am 28 weeks gone!!! I could have had the baby by then!! (hopefully not but still)
The November 2010 thread moves scarily fast and I can't keep up with it. Plus there are SO many people on it, its a bit scarey I lurked on it for ages, surprised at how many people announce it so early.

Eah - pleased you got E to understand there are healthy fats too. It terrifies me when you here stories of eating disorders in young children. Its an area which I always wanted to get into as my sister was a bulemic when we were teenagers. I have a diploma in nutrition can get really obsessed with healthy eating plans.

Wilkie - can't believe L is going to be 1 soon. Thats gone soooo fast.

Rgee - Please tell me, does Jason Orange speak in weird accent in RL too? (am so impressed with your celeb evening!)

DP has taken DJ away to his parents for the weekend & I'm in the middle of spring cleaning. Its very theraputic, especially as I am listening to all the Glee soundtracks at the same time! Loving it. But, front room curtains are in the wash so everyone can see me prancing around to it in the living room. I so missed my calling as a west end super star!!!

Hope everyone is having fun in the sun! xxx

3Happy · 23/06/2010 08:36

Hope the pain has settled Lizz

Eandh - that's frightening about E and food. Hope it's just a phase.

DH - lovely to 'see' you. My neice (3y) ios on the W/L for grommets (and adenoids out I think). She had delayed speech development and permanent colds and it was glue ear. (Hardly surprising - my sister was exactly the same as a kid). Hope the ENT appt goes ok.

RGee - so of Jason Orange!!!

Lal - congrats on the qualification! Do you start in September then?

Wilkie - Happy Birthday to L, hope you all had a lovely day.

PCF - are the migraines any better?

Not much to report here. ds1 turned 5 a couple of weeks ago , had a lovely party. Going on holiday to Mull on saturday - just watch the weather forecast, I BET there's sun everywhere but there next week! dd turning into a proper little person. Mat leave going far too quickly

Reggiee · 23/06/2010 21:10

Evening.

Nowt much to report here. B had chickenpox a week or so ago. He was fine except one evening of grizzling. Then I spotted 3 new molars all at once. Not sure if it was the teeth or the pox upsetting him.

V relieved England won the footie and now have the epic Wimbledon match on tv. Keep meaning to go to bed but it is goingon. Oh..match point....

Anyway. J Orange evening was v surreal. He is lovely, but I tell you summat, I would not want to be a celeb after spending the evening with him. He kept trying to explain to the millions of people coming up to him that he was an old friend of ours. Bless him. He's also v attractive...

How you doing Lizz? I remember the old stamping on the crotch feeling but think it was quite late on, when I actually was being stamped on the crotch.

3H - you around w/c 4July? I'm up your way. Will FB you in due course. Have a lovely hoiday btw.

Lal have a great holiday too. And congrats on qualifying.

Will come back soon. Am off to bed..too tired..

Lizzzombie · 27/06/2010 09:42

yay! other people. I thought you'd all gone forever.

xxx

(I have no news, just thought I'd say hello)
We have our neighbours coming for a BBQ later on to watch the football, and my entire house looks like a bomb site as I was at work yesterday (all it takes is one day of DP being home alone and Booooom.) Grr. Have no idea where to start. Hoping a big coffee will help! x

Hope everyone else okay am off to water the garden

Shimmer · 02/07/2010 21:41

Hi all..... I'm still here!

All's fine with us. Mega busy though, so I'm pretty much permanently knackered! Juggling the shop and the 2 LOs is a bit crazy sometimes!! Although I know everyone's life is a bit crazy sometimes....

Well, not everyone actually....I'm in London this weekend, seeing my brother and his gf. She doesn't work at all and they have no kids. She;s a lovely girl, but she does amaze me with how she manages to get away with doing NOTHING!! (except shop!)

RGee Was just scrolling though FB and saw P's picture of 'Mummy and a Rainbow'! So sweet! Freddie has just recently started drawing pictures that are very occasionally recognisable as something and not just squiggles! He brought home a fab painting today from nursery of an octopus and some fish, and i actually knew what it was!! SO proud!

His pre-school are going on a class trip next week, which I am feeling a little bit nervous about. Isn't 3 and a half a bit young for trips?? They're going to the Sea Life Centre in Brighton on a coach, which is about a 40 minute drive away. And then having picnic lunch on the beach, before heading back on the coach to school. I mean, it sounds great, and I'm sure he'll love it... and I do trust his teachers etc. BUT there's a lot of kids going (some of which are NOT a great influence!), maybe i feel at his age he still really needs someone looking after/concentrating on HIM when out in public! Have any of yours been on nursery/pre-school trips??

Lizz I got sunburnt in Eastbourne last week! I took F and B down for the day. We usually always go to brighton, but fancied a change. We were on the beach for ages and ended up walking all the way to Princes Park, where Freddie went paddling! Then had to drag him all the way back into town...... Really nice day though! Would love to come again soon and meet up!

Lizzzombie · 14/07/2010 17:50

Guess what, guess what!!!

I'm having a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds daft but totally wasn't expecting it!

Shimmer - definately let me know next time you are in town!

Reggiee · 15/07/2010 19:31

Lizz fantastic news mate! Saw your pink announcement on FB. You recovered from the shock yet. BTW need your advice in a sec...

EaH talking of FB, really sorry to hear about your nan. Sounds like you've had a tough week or so. How are you?
What's been going on with your ceiling?

Shimmer really funny to read about F going on a trip with nursery, as P went on her first one to Chester zoo on Monday, and I spend the day a nervous wreck. She went by default, as it was the nursery 'leavers' day, but they had some spare places and she was asked as she's been with the preschoolers since Jan. She had a fabulo time and came back with a penguin necklace she chose from the shop . Hope F had an equally good time.

3H sorry I didn't get to see you last week (was on hols oop north, close to on the loose gunmen). The inlaws came for a couple of days, but ended up staying all week.

So, I need advice. I think you can help me Lizz as I think I recall DJ going through this phase. The biting phase . B is a reet pita and I have a few war wounds. Atm when he does it, I say no, put him down and walk away (then he promptly bursts into tears as he is a real mummys boy). I guess I just grin and bare it and wait for it to pass, but if anyone has any ideas....

PCF - I Hope you get the school bus thing sorted out soon, it sounds so ridiculous for the sake of 10 houses. I'm hoping someone sensible will take charge of the case and not a jobsworth. Good luck.

Rgee - Have emailed you x

Hi

Thank you for the messages re Nan I still cant believe she has gone, poor Ellie sobbed and sobbed when I told her and I tried so hard not to cry in front of her but failed miserably, its all gone over Hattie's head we cant even sort funeral as police have taken her for full post mortem as they believe she died from injuries caused when that lady knocked her over in the car . Seems weird that I wont be having my regular trips to Broadstairs this summer and not sure I can face going to the beach there for a while, she was my only grandparent left and adored the girls , my brothers gf due this weekend and have decided to use nans surname (Taylor) as a middle name for my new neice and if she arives before the funeral we are going to put a photo of nephew, baby and my 2 in the coffin.

In fact had a crap few weeks DH put at risk of redundancy (looking like he may be okay now just waiting for confirmation) then had flood where waste pipe came away from toilet and whole tank of water went through bathroom floor and then lounge ceiling, bathroom has to be taken out and new wooden floor and joists laid, then they took samples from teh ceiling (whats left of it) and discovered asbestos in the artex so now the whole ceiling has to be taken down and they will replace all ceiling/coving, redecorate the front room/stairs/landing and got to wait for test from sofa and carpet to see if they are contaminated if so they need to be replaced insuarnce bill looking at £3000-£5000 so that'll bump up the premium next year

Finally car failed MOT (ceiling test results, car and Nan all happened on same day!) fixed now but that was £150

Apart from that Hattie is a pita who is SO stroppy I pity the teacher who gets her next year, am upping her preschool sessions from September. Ellie had a fab school report and acheived or over acheived all areas except maths (need to do work on number bonds apparently!)

Lizz- congrats on the girl fantastic news how are you feeling?

PCF - thats rubbish about ALex's school fingers crossed you win appeal, hows the pg going?

Rgee - mmmm biting I bit them back (probably not want you are meant to do though )

Shall we have a new thread as even though this isnt dull title is so out of date??

Lizzzombie · 17/07/2010 07:16

eah - You poor thing. Sending massive virtual hugs, that is ALOT of horrible things in a short period of time. Sorry to hear about your Nan. xxx

OP posts:
eandh · 20/07/2010 16:51

thank you am slowly catching up on everything..

car fixed

ceiling down and drying equipment coming Thursday they estimate 2-3 weeks and should be done

Nan been released by coroner so Mum/Aunts can plan funeral (she had lung cancer that had spread to kidneys, bones and spine and possibly breast too so in a way its a blessing that she went now and didnt have months of suffering)

DH seems to be more positive about work as several people have received letters re being made redundant (so far he hasnt so fingers crossed)

Am getting so fed up of school run that I will be glad to have a few weeks off it (imagine they'll drive me mad though!)

Shimmer · 23/07/2010 19:32

Hi all.

So sorry to hear about your Nan eah. I hope ellie's doing okay now too.

SOOOO exciting about the baby girl news Lizz!! It's lovely having one of each (IMO! ) Will deffo do a trip to Eastbourne sometime in the next few weeks. I'll send you a text to see if you're around. Remind me what days you work....

How's B doing RGee? Thank God F never had a biting phase, but i'd say it sounds like putting him down and walking away is the right way to deal with it. It's what I'd do anyway.

Freddie's been off school for a week now and surviving so far. I have been keeping him VERY entertained though, and not sure I can keep it up for another 6 weeks!

We went to Latitude last weekend (a festival in Suffolk for those not in the know!) which was fab. It was Freddie's first time camping and he LOVED it! We left Belle with my mum, so just the 3 of us and was lovely. Would definitely recommend it. Very family-friendly!!

eandh · 05/08/2010 20:11

is anyone ouuut thereeeeee?????

Or school holidays driving everyone dolally?

Reggiee · 09/08/2010 13:58

.

Have got a day off work today - no kids, no dh - bliss Grin.

How is everyone?
Eah I think I saw that C wasn't made redundant. I guess you're v relieved but it must be a tough time at work for him atm.
How are you surviving the hols then?

Shimmer how's near the coast? Thanks for asking after B. He is slightly better (I haven't been bitten for a couple of weeks), but he is such a monkey - just so full on and boisterous. He is lovely, but a bit erm..hyper at nursery - he wears out all the staff and I think the babies don't like playing his very rough cuddling games....How can P and B be sooo different? Is it a gender thing?

Lizz how's the bump?

eandh · 10/08/2010 08:00

Rgee B sounds like he is fun but can imagine its a big change from chilled out laids back P Grin at leats he is making the nursery staff earn their money Wink

DH did manage to keep his job 30 people were made redundant and they have kept either 16 or 18 (cant remember which one!) so he was v.v.v lucky however pressure on now as they have only lost 40% of their workload so lots of extra work, of the 30 people being made redundant there are 13 postitons available at Swanley (about 20miles away) so they can apply for those (we were dreading having to do that as meant buying another car which realistically we cannot afford) DH did actually get offered a job at his best mates company (his best mate is the director of teh company) but it would have been temporary until a permanent position became available.

Lizz loved the pics of you and D plus bump) on FB, did D enjoy eurostar?

Right am off as have Ellie's best mate here all day as her parents were let down with childcare and they are all demanding breakfast!

Lizzzombie · 22/08/2010 08:41

Hello!
Hope everyone is coping with school holidays ok.
As its made no difference to our routine, Dylan is still in nursery etc, its quite nice to see friends whose kids are usually in school more often!

But, as you can imagine, living in a holiday type town its mega busy and even going to soft play is a no no during the summer holidays. School holiday local kids + holidayers = nightmare busy!

I am now 27 weeks (I think) can't wait for it to be over.
Would quite like to be able to see a midwife soon, but as my allocated on has been on hols/sick/hols for last 5 weeks, I have no idea when I can see her its impossible to make an appointment.

GP recommended me to physio woman at the hospital for SPD and I now have an attractive velcro belt to help support my back and bump. Apparently I have a low bump.

Baby is a total ninja at night time but very quiet during day.

We are closing are shop in a few weeks time and relocating to an out of town store, our in town shop is becoming a Mothercare Clearance store for a month, with stuff from all over being sent to us and being sold for silly prices. Which is very useful! I've gone mad buying girly stuff already.

Oh, and pregnancy has made me into a total moaning minny! I can't wait for November. x

Hello

School holidays were over last week thankfully, between work on the house and holidays with bad weather I was starting to go loopy.

However, I am now a single parent as DH moved out (he has been toing and froing for 3 weeks but finally gone now) poor Ellie not doing that well and restless sleep and being sick with worry (he has shit timing with going back to school/new class and it's her birthday tomorrow) Laughalot and Eddas have been fantastic support and I need to get practical claiming credits etc now and need to decided whetehr to keep Hattie at MIL on Fridays or look at nursery/childminder also need to increase my hours at work to claim WTC aaargh so much to do but have some child free time tomorrow as Hattie back at preschool Grin
