Evening

PCF Glad scan went well and will be lovely to have 2 close together

Rgee - she does look remarkably like you though!

Lizz - thats the gardening set although Laughalot has now decided shes sending Hattie the money for it as Easter present

As for veg etc we did last year

New potatos/red onions (they were so lovely in salads)/garlic all from bulbs rather than seeds so planted straight in border. Carrots we started in trays as seeds and left in a proprogander (sp) in conservatory till ready to plant)

Lettuce/cherry tomotaos and courgettes we grow in pots. Lettuce straight from seed but courgette/tomatos we do from plants as DH grandad grows loads and loads of veg so we get lots of cuttings

Runner beans we do in grow bags against teh shed so we can fix bamboo sticks. Ours got blackfly last year so ruined crop but previous year we still had runner beans in freezer at Christmas!

Strawberries in one of those speacial strawberry pots (covered in netting to stop birds pecking)

We did sweetcorn in border but it didnt really work and our cucumber failed but FIL got loads of cucumbers last year (all odd shapes though!)

This year we are scaling back and not doing lettuce/courgette/sweetcorn but will try potatos/garlic/onions/strawberries/tomatos and may try carrots again.

Hope that helps x

Hiya! Well that is a comprehensive list of fruit and veg EAH!! Have you decided what you're going to grow Liz? Have you got the allotment already? Can you start straight away?

Good news that scan was all okay Pink. Sorry to hear about evening sickness. I used to get that as well. Yuck! I always quite liked being pregnant APART from about the first 12 weeks when I was sick roughly twice a day!! (There should really be a urrrrgghh/ gross smiley shouldn't there?!? It's kind of a cross between and ) You're 10 weeks already though right, so hopefully it'll pass soon.

I've been feeling a bit pissed off and kinda sad this morning because I had an e-mail from a really good friend of mine (i was maid of honour at her wedding last year) who's coming to England next week (she lives in the States) and is just really really pissing me off with her arrnagements while she's here. She's only here for a week, and understandably has lots of people she wants to see and is also going to Paris for a couple of days with her sister. Anyway, the issue is she's coming to stay for 1 night, next Monday, but really doesn't seem to have factored seeing me into her plans AT ALL. The e-mail I just got said she did want to stay the night (I had offered about 2/3 weeks ago and never got a reply until now!) BUT she said she's not arriving til late afternoon and has already made plans to see some other friends that evening! Ummm... is that a bit rude or I am just being unreasonable?? She did ask if I wanted to come to. But Gavin's out that evening, so I have to stay in. And I don't know these people anyway. Surely if you're staying in someone's house, especially someone who you're supposedly really good friends with, you make plans to spend time with THEM?? I just feel like she's using my house, so she doesn't have to stay in a hotel, but doesn't actually want to see me at all. Not sure if there's anything I can to about it now though......

Right, on a more positive note, I'm off to paint my bath! It's going to be pink! I'm quite excited!!

Lizzzombie · 23/03/2010 08:10

Shimmer - that does sound out of order. Maybe she is just trying to fit everyone in and it seemed to her like a good idea. I would be mightily pi$$ed off too though.

PCF - Hope the nausea wears off soon. at people being surprised when you tell them you have a 10 month old. I always tell people about my sisters mate when they start talking about a small age gap. She got pregnant with DD2 6 weeks after giving birth to DD1. Her daughters will be in the same school year!

Oh my goodness I heard a vile story the other day. I was talking to some friends about how long it was we waited to have sex again after giving birth, and one girl said her MW knew of a couple doing it literally on the delivery table after their baby was born. Can you imagine!?!?! Thats just weird and kinky and gross.

EAH - re garlic - did you just plant ordinary bulbs into the ground?

We are keeping it simple, (its not actually ours till April 1st) and we are doing mainly potatoes, onions and salad stuff, then strawberries and raspberries. And extend it next year when we have sorted the plot a bit.

I am such a saddo that I dreamt about the allotment last night! I am so excited about having some more space in my life! (live in a very small house)

I saw some childrens gardening gloves in Asda, but they only had pink ones left so hesitated. Now I am kicking myself as DJ has been walking around with a hairband on for most of the past week and a pair of pink gardening gloves really would have set it off nicely!

I wrote a post ages ago, but it seems to have disappeared Makes me look very rude - but to re-iterate, Lal she was 7lb 1oz, Lizz she's called Rachel. Pics up on FB

PCF - glad the scan went well. Grr at people making comments, it's none of their business!! People kept saying "ooh you'll have your hands full!" when I was pg with ds2 (21m age gap between him and ds1) but can't see how my hands can possibly have been fuller than they are now (3 YEAR gap between ds2 and dd!). Why do people always HAVE to pass comment?? (Can you tell it p*sses me off?!) Anyway, hope the MS passes soon.

Shimmer - yup would p* me off too. I guess it is because she has so much to cram into a week, but is she expecting you to stay up with her all night as the only time she can fit you into her schedule?

Lizz - congrats on the allotment. Is it sad to dream about one's allotment - well, mabe a little Going to have to think about what we're going to plant in our veg patch this year, but I'm not sure how successful it'll be - I asked dh to do the autumn dig (to save my pg back) last year....he did it 2 weeks ago!!

Anyway, the calves are being turfed out into the field, the farm's about to start lambing, the daffs are out and their are buds on the trees. Tra lala it's Spring!!! (I'm not a fan of winter...!)

Lizzzombie · 23/03/2010 16:49

Yay! 3Happy!! Love it. Congratulations again.

PCF just seen your FB status - hope you are ok and relaxing at home with your feeet up.

3Happy loved your FB photos. Sigh. I want a cuddle.

How's everyone else? Any plans for Easter?

Lizz how's the allotment?

Shimmer have you seen your inconsiderate mate?

Eah no doubt you are busy .

Lizzzombie · 29/03/2010 19:26

Regee !!
I've been waiting for someone else to post again before I did so I don't look like a total thread-stalker!

Allotment is still weed filled. We are attacking it this weekend. DP has decided on 'no weedkiller'

We have won a patio set and bench on Freecycle which we are going to install this weekend too so I can sit and dream about Monty Don and how he would 'tackle my allotment'

eandh · 29/03/2010 21:19

What happened PCF, hope you are okay ?

Rgee - I am childfree all Easter as my parents taking E and H on holiday woo hoo can't wait, we are going to Eddas house saturday for dinner, doing garden on Sunday and DH working fri/Mon so will potter around and shop!!

Lizzz - woo well done on patio set

Rgee - any plans?

Shimmer · 07/04/2010 20:39

Wow seriously has no-one posted for 10 days!?!
Hope everyone had a lovely Easter. I saw on FB that you were feeling a bit bored without the girls EAH!

How are you doing Pink? Hope all is well.

All's good here. Been really busy, away in London and then York the last week, which was all fun. We stayed at a Premier Inn in York which was really good for the money (would definitely recommend their family rooms) and Freddie absolutly loved staying in a hotel! Ever since we've been back he's been saying he wishes he was back in the hotel bedroom! He's still got 2 weeks before back at pre-school now though
so desperately trying to think of things for him to do!! Think we might get him a proper bike. He had a trike, which he grew out of a little while ago. Do any of yours have bikes? Halfords have a sale on, I quite like this one -www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_5 00921langId-1categoryId165602

I did see my friend RGee, when I was on London. It was quite weird. She came at about 4:30 and we had a really nice time, chatting and she was very good with F & B, and then at about 7:30 she went out! I saw her briefly at 11pm, to let her back in, and then she was gone bfore we got up in the morning (she did have a really realy early train to catch, which I knew about). She came down to Lewes on Monday though, so I did get to see her again. I think she did feel bad about coming to stay and then going out with other friends. But I still don't think she should have done it really.

Done any planting yet Lizz? Congrats on the patio set! Sent you a message on FB about getting together. Anyone else in SE obviously welcome!

Reggiee · 08/04/2010 19:14

Hello. I lurk and see no one has posted so I run off again in fear of me talking to myself .

Shimmer can't believe you were in York and didn't tell me

3Happy · 12/04/2010 08:20

tra-la-la I love maternity leave when it's wall to wall blue skies!

Easter was rubbish for us, both boys had tummy bugs - can anyone tell me why vomiting always strikes at night??! dh did have a day off and was looking forward to recharging his batteries, but ended up even more knackered than if he had been at work.

Lizz - bet you're enjoying the allotment in this weather! Got any plants in?

Reg - how's the great kitchen appliance massacre going?! Is B feeling any better?

Shimmer - ds2 still refuses to pedal so no bike for him yet. Soooo glad we got a trike that has a parent handle (there again, that may be why he hasn't learned to pedal yet!). When he does learn we'll probably get ds1 a new bike and poor ds2 will get the hand me down. Glad you did get to see your friend in the end.

PCF - hope you are ok x

EandH - how was your child-free Easter?

Right, must get going. The only way to stop dd screaming is to go places so she sleeps in the sling, and ds1 is doing castles next term at school so am making the most of living in the Borders and going round all the various ones. So cute seeing how excited he gets exploring round them. (Less cute when the boys start 'swordfighting' and battering each other about the head...)

eandh · 13/04/2010 14:24

Lol 3happy Ellie's topic at school next term is castles and knights so we had a trip to Leeds Castle last week (we have annual passes but it appears most of teh reception year of her school had the same idea!)

Easter was lovely and peaceful and relaxing but God I was broed by Sunday especially as weather was rubbish, last week was nice having them home this week they have driven me mad. It was Eddas ds birthday today so been tehre for a party today and tomorrow Ellei going to the other Ellie in her class house to play and Thursday it will be a ctach up onhomeowrk/housework day. We are off to see my Nan Friday and we were planning to go out for anice meal etc but some stupid lady mounted the pavement in her car and knocked my Nan over last weekend so we are going to visit for a bit but she can't really walk around so she will can't make our family meal

Lizz- hows allotment going

Rgee - have you started doing all the painting?

3happy - hope dd slept for you

PCF- how are things going?

Reggiee · 13/04/2010 20:48

Eah - awful about your Nan . Hope she's ok.
Saw your FB update and hope C isn't being a bad patient.
BTW the first time I heard of Leeds castle (aged c 15) I thought 'there isn't a castle in Leeds....' durrrr....
Painting all complete in loft room. Just need to buy some wardbrobes and furtniture.

PCF good luck with your scan tomorro

3H are you all over the sickness and additional bugs? What a pita. How is R? You got used to changing a girl's nappy yet .

Can you believe B is 1 next week .

3Happy · 15/04/2010 08:22

Ha, Reg, I never even heard of Leeds castle until someone (probably eandh!) mentioned it on this thread and thought "I didn't know there was a castle in Leeds" (aged somewhere between 31 and 33......)

3Happy · 15/04/2010 08:24

I didn't press post. Why did that post??

Eah I can't believe someone ran your nan over on the pavement!! I hope she wasn't too badly injured x

PCF - how was the scan?

Reg - nope, can't believe it at all! 1 already. Are you doing anything?

Shimmer · 15/04/2010 21:22

Well surely it's only natural to expect Leeds Castle to be in Leeds! I remember going there as a child. Keep meaning to take F, I'm sure he'd love it!

Who's watching the election debates? I'm actually quite interested in the politics this year for the first time ever... praps that's what having kids does to you?!?

Hope your Nan's on the mend EAH.

Lizzzombie · 19/04/2010 22:20

Hello...is anybody out there?

Our computer has died so I only get to use DP's work lap top every now and then.

But, I'm still here.
Hope you are all well xxx

Am here although not on MN much anymore think I have gone off it a bit lately and just lurk on odd threads/topics now!

Thanks for the well wishes, Nan is making a slow recovery she is very battered and bruised, we wnet ot visit on Friday but only for a few hours as she was tired and girls can get noisey.

Now I can't remember who posted what but Shimmer Freddir would love the new play area at the castle (if you are ever coming let me know!) Lizz - boo to computer being broken. Rgee - Did Ben have a good birthday? 3happy - hope the D&V gone now

Hi!
We have a super snazzy new imac! So pleased. It goes really fast compared to our old one so its just super fantastic (I am such a saddo!)

I got tons done last week though, having no computer makes me much more proactive around the house!

Had a new washing machine fitted on Saturday morning, so only 5 days with out one, but I have a HUGe backlog of washing to do now. Great.

PCF - When is your actual due date?
EAH - I know what you mean about MN. So much of it seems to be Us vs Them, highly political and people forcing their points of view as the right way. I just read the bits which aren't like that & its all good.

Hope everyone is well xxx

OP posts:
3Happy · 29/04/2010 15:03

Ha ha! I had to read that twice, Lizzz, since I'm old enough to remember when immac was a hair removal cream!! An imac is considerably more exciting! Hope you've got through the washing backlog - the weather helps, though I keep thinking it's going to rain adn running out to get the washing in, then it doesn't rain and the sun comes out and I have to put it all back out again.

Reg - how was B's birthday? Is the loft decorated yet?

eandh - hope your nan getting better still. I keep reading your fb updates about clearing out lots of the girls toys and thinking I really must get round to doing that sometime. ho hum.

PCF - hope the bleeding hasn't returned and that the nausea's improving. How did the speech assessment go?

dd is 9 weeks old now and is growing like a weed. She still wants to be held the WHOLE TIME and will cry whenever she's put down, even if she was deeply asleep when she was put down, which is not the best when I'm trying to get the boys' tea or whatever. Still, time is just flying past just now, so I know it won't last forever (not that I'm wishing her to grow up, just could do with her being ok with sleeping in the crib!)

Lizzzombie · 01/05/2010 07:36

Lol at imac/immac!
I wonder if Apple paid some towards that Nair rebrand!

Incidently had a nasty accident with that a few months ago. Am now sworn off it for life...tmi!

What are you all up to this weekend?
Its 'Magnificent Motors' weekend in Eastbourne this weekend which I am sure will make Dylan go loopy. But in Hastings there is the 'Green Jack' festival with morris dancers & traditional old english celebrations. Its going to be so packed but I'd love to go to that.
However, Dylan has developed a highly chavvy trait of pulling his trousers and pants down whenever he needs a wee, wherever he is and just weeing. So i can't trust him not to do in front of somewhere totally inapproriate....like a maypole?! (he did in front of a really nice restaurant the other day, I was mortified - he scoots off in front of me really far away & then does it so am not near enough to drag him into the gutter/round the corner of an alley asap) - the shame! not sure what to do about it!

OP posts:
eandh · 03/05/2010 10:19

Morning - not doing much here, had to cancel bootfair yesterday as it poured down all day (we all got cabin fever so DH wnet and bought some stickers and balloons and the girls spent ages drawing eyes/mouths etc and making faces on balloons (well Ellie did the drawing Hattie 'helped') DH working today I was hoping to plant up my pots/baskets but raining again, Ellie and I popped to homebase saturday morning at 11.30 to get plants to do the borders in gardens and then looked what happened an hour later news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/8656694.stm thank God we were not there as would have been stranded for hours, also DH was off work but his depot is straight behind the store!

Lizz - oops at Dylan but also slightly hows teh allotment going?

3happy - Is R getting any better at being put down, hope meeting at school went well

Poo forgotton who else posted now but 'hi'
