oooggs I know! I missed them and couldn't sleep.......
herb Hope you find out about job soon, must be quite worrying

I still feel a bit off. My chest feels all tight and currently feels like it's hard to breathe? Hope I'm not getting pnumonia(sp?) again, unlikely isn't it?
Might pop along to the walk in clinic today. I don't have a temp or d&v so not the pig thing, just bad cough, snotty nose, sore throat and headache, plus now chest bit. Oh well.
Swapping round Luke's feeding, he has been a rat-bag so is now going to have milk on waking and solids a few hours later, see how he gets on with that.
When we went to get him yesterday from my mum's, she was sitting out in the front garden, Luke all strapped in his car seat, bag packed and ready to go . As I got close, she said "God, doesn't he cry?!" Poor woman looked like she was having a breakdown. No doubt the vodka came out as soon as we left! Then on to dad's to get ds1 who cried the minute he looked at me my dad said maybe we should go home and leave him there forever . We didn't.

I'm a daddy's girl, also the eldest of 2, maybe it has got something to do with freeing up mum to deal with the younger ones.......

swampster · 13/07/2009 09:39

I managed to stop DS1 and DS2 biting! The trick is, when they bite, instead of pulling away as you instinctively and painfully do, draw them in to your ample bosom so they can't breathe. They let go pretty fast and soon realise biting is a very bad idea. Now I am ready and waiting for DS3 to start...

I am having a mini-MN-meet today in a sand-pit. I'll let the meetee fess up who it is with if she wants to.

swampster · 13/07/2009 09:40

LBB, I think weirdy chests are par for the course for giving up smoking - another reason why it is so hard to do.

littleboyblue · 13/07/2009 09:50

swampy I haven't actually given up The patches weren't working too well so on something else now and am trying again this week.....
Not feeling too bad at mo so going to get Luke weighed.

swampster · 13/07/2009 10:21

Have you tried the lozenges? Patches made me want to smoke more, gum made me burp/fart/feel pukey. Lozenges were a source of constant comfort - I even slept with one slowly dissolving against my gum and it would still be there when I woke up- just smaller. The lowest setting ones are really nice and give you a bit oral satisfaction as well as a nicotine fix.

mumoverseas · 13/07/2009 11:48

morning all, I'm alone! For the first time in 5 weeks, I'm actually all alone!
DH has gone out and taken all 4 DCs with him We were all supposed to be going (taking DCs 1 & 2 up to ex DH's brothers house as his parents are there for a few days and I'd promised that they'd still see their granchildren as much as possible) we were going to drop off 1 & 2 and then go to Bluewater which is around 15 mins away but I had the migraine from hell last night and DH finally realised I wasn't putting it on and was really feeling shitty. Feel rather odd this morning, very lightheaded and sick which is a bit strange but thank god the thumping in my head has stopped. They left around 9.30am and will be back around 2pm (knowing DH though, it will be a lot earlier!)

Had a very long day yesterday as we had H baptised in my mum's old church. It had all been planned before she died and she was so excited about it so we went ahead and it was a happy day after all. It was lovely seeing so many of mum's old friends who were so pleased to see H. Spent a few hours at her house afterwards and cleared a few things out but it is going to be a major job and not sure how I'm going to find the time as its 1 1/2 hour drive from home so not easy to pop down.

dinky glad you had a good holiday but shame DS didn't like the beach. We were thinking of going up to Sufolk and Norfolk for a few days in September once DCs 1 and 2 have gone back to school as quite fancy the idea of moving up that way.

herby glad the wedding went ok but at your DH and his golf all day. little bit selfish? Hope you get positive news about your job soon.

I've decided I'm not going back into law despite having kept up my cpd the last 4 years. Its just not me anymore. Have decided to do something completely different and have plans in hand to set up a new business when I go back to KSA in September. Will bore you all with that later

bumps, hope O is doing better with his feeding. Don't worry about J, she is just going through the phase they all go through. G is just the same. She has ignored me quite a few times since daddy has been back but when she is tired or upset, it is still me she comes running to. (eg yesterday at mass DH took her outside to play as she was being rather noisy) she fell over and managed to graze her thigh/bottom quite badly so came running back into church for me. I was literally just in front of the priest having communion when she came running up saying she'd hurt herself. The priest was so funny and bent down to talk to her and asked if she was ok. She then proceeded to pull her dress up and her knickers down to show him her backside, right in front of the altar in view of the whole congregation! My mum would have been looking down in shock and my dad would have been pissing himself laughing

I'm sure your DD will soon realise that mummy love is the best and will stop favouring DH. Hope you sort out the feeding problems with O.

LBB, second dinkys advice ref carrot. It tastes like crap. Think I'll try the butternut squash or sweet potato. As rushing around yesterday gave H a jar of 'sunday roast' baby food and it was evil. Looked and smelt like someone had already eaten it!

PT and all the others with coughs and colds, hope they go soon. DD has had a terrible cough for around 3 weeks but I've kept on with the cough medicine and its finally going.

elkie never too old for another baby, I'm sure I must be older than you

swampy might try smothering DD when she tries biting again.

Hope I've not forgotten to say anything but I'm sure I have so sorry to anyone I've missed.

I'm supposed to be resting/packing for our holiday as we are off to France tomorrow at some ungodly hour. We are taking the car and I'm really looking forward to not arsing around at airport security and just jumping in the car. We have 3 days in disney land paris (the lodge one, not a posh hotel) and then a week in centreparcs somewhere a few hours from Paris (must find map!) so hopefully we will get nice weather.

Hope everyone is ok and those who are also off on hols soon have a nice time x

littleboyblue · 13/07/2009 19:25

swampy I'm on Champix (sp?) now, they are a drug that is supposed to shut down the receptors(sp?) in tyour brain that crave the nicotine. You take them for 3 months but plan to quit within the first 2 weeks (so you carry on smoking to begin with), my quit day is today, and smoked my last one this morning, but only managed half due to the shortness of breath.
That's interesting isn't it? Glad I shared?
mos Hope you're feeling a bit better now and had a good rest while the family was out.
How lovely about getting H baptised. It's something that's on the list for my 2.......

The carrot went a bit better tonight, not great, but he had a few mouthfuls. Still trying to find a feeding routine that suits him though. I really don't like doing milk and solids together, but think I'll have to with Luke, he seems to not be satisfied with just one or the other.

mos Have a great time in France.

I'm still feeling a bit under the weather. managed to get both boys to sleep at the same time this afternoon so had a 45 min nap which was lovely.

Cocodrillo · 13/07/2009 20:06

I met Swampy today. What a nice lady, what beautiful children, and what a fab sandpit . DS was a bit of a grumpbag but otherwise we had a lovely time. DD2 is finally over the tantrum that was sparked off by my suggestion that we go home so DS could get some sleep...

dinkystinky · 13/07/2009 21:29

Coco - glad you and Swampy had fun in the sand pit

MoS - H's baptism sounds lovely. Am sure your mum was looking on. We have Danny's rice ceremony (rite of passage - like a baptism for hindu babies - when he is first given rice as his first solid) in August at my parent's place - looking forward to it. Hope your horrid migraine has shifted and that you all have a wonderful time over in France. Suffolk is a really pretty place (DS1 keeps saying he wants more suffolk ) so would definitely recommend spending a few days over that way if you can - particularly if the weather is nice.

LBB - good luck with the giving up smoking. Sorry Luke was hard work for your mum - hope he's being more settled now he's back home with you.

Herb - glad your sister's wedding went well but grr at work leaving you hanging to find out what is happening. I cant believe that they cant even give you some visibility on when a decision will be made.

My MiL was up today to help look after the boys as had to take them each swimming at different times today and it was so sweet seeing both DS1 and Danny really interacting and playing with her. Makes me feel really sad that DH's dad never really got to know DS1 when he was in smiley interactive mode.

SweetTalkinWoman · 13/07/2009 21:32

Sounds like you had a great time today, Swampy and Coco !

LBB hope you are feeling better and your quit day is still your quit day!!!

Dinky welcome back from your hols - hope you have all settled back into life without sand!!

MOS glad to hear H's baptism went well and love the story about DD and her dress and knockers!! Hope you are feeling better after your migraine and enjoyed your time alone.

We are in the middle of a Peepa Pig fest here. It's DD's 2nd birthday tomorrow but we had a family BBQ yesterday. I might have mentioned that DD loves Peppa, so every present was a Peppa one!! Can't believe my little girl will be 2 - even tho she's the size of a 3 yr old .

I'm a bit confused about Sam at the moment. He's on Neocate formula - but his skin is bad at the moment, on Omeprazole for his reflux - but he's crying lots, and Domperidone for his sickness - but puking lots. He's also starting waking more at night for feeds, so I think he might be ready for solids, but I need to wait a few more weeks to see how the formula goes down.

We are into day 5 with no washing machine here. Our 6 month old SMEG machine has given up on us already. Not fun with 2 messy/pukey kids and having to do the laundrette. I usually do at least one load a day so it's a pain in the neck. Repair man coming tomorrow but I just hope he can do something on the spot.

Early night for me tonight so night night everyone!

SweetTalkinWoman · 13/07/2009 21:33

Crikey MOS I meant dress and knickers - sorry.

bumpsnowjustplump · 13/07/2009 21:47

Evening all. Had hospital appointment today and DS now weighs 15lb 1oz he is just below the 25th centile but dr is happy with his progress and has signed him off. However he has asked me to wean him early... He wants me to go back on dairy first to check he has no reaction to that and then in two weeks time he want me to start giving solids. Then in two months time providing everything is ok I have to wean him off the meds (not before 7 months though)....

He also wants me to go back once a month for weigh in so dosage of meds can be altered!

All good there but not so good after. My mum was rushed to hospital last night and had an opperation today. Two of her dogs started fighting and she tried to seperate them and one of them bit her by mistake. We went to see her today and she looked really bad and for the first time in my life she looked really old....

DP has now said he doesn't want me to go around there with the dc's. I can see his point but i wont cut my mum out of my childrens lifes regardless of what he says.... sorry long post and a bit upset with it all at the moment...

But really pleased with owens report..... He still isn't feeding very much but when we told dr he said my milk will start to decrease now anyway and that as long as he isnt hungry then there is no problem.....

littleboyblue · 14/07/2009 07:16

bumps Hope your mum is ok. Sounds awful. Can completely understand your dh's thoughts on this. I had to get rid of my dog last year because she started growling at ds1 and I just couldn't risk it.
But can also understand it was an accident and of course you don't want to cut your mum out of your childrens lives, but I would say, just take a little extra caution for a while. Really hope your mum's ok and gets home soon.
STW What's it like having a 2 year old? Hope you all have a lovely day. Does O like her scooter? It'll be J's turn in a few weeks......scary!

Luke went to bed at 6:15 last night and didn't wake until 5am!!!!!!! I was awake most of the night though

Calico1 · 14/07/2009 09:15

bumps - your poor mum! Must have been a shock to see her looking poorly too. Hope she recovers quickly. Glad to hear that Owen's report from the hosp was good.

STW hope your DD enjoys her 2nd birthday tomorrow - they grow up so fast.....sigh. Lilian has been prescribed Domperidone for her sickness too - hasn't made a bit of difference yet but then she has been poorly recently anyway so probably too soon to tell.

LBB good luck with quit day

MOS love the priest and knickers story at least he thought it was funny too! Have a good holiday.

Dinky can you recommend any Suffolk destinations? DH has asked me to book a cottage by the sea in Sept - we usually go to Cornwall but Suffolk coast might be a nice change, though I have no idea where might make a good base.

MarkStretch · 14/07/2009 10:10

hello all, i'm still here, just bloody busy! can't wait for summer holidays and a few weeks off the schoolrun snore..........

off to france next week to see my mother.

calico i know suffolk well (grew up there and live in the next county now). I can fb you some websites if you like?

Are we doing a meetup in august time? DD is going to her Dad's for a week so it might be a bit easier and cheaper for me to come down to the big smoke again.

Hope you're all ok- is MOS still in the UK?

rosieposey · 14/07/2009 10:25

Morning all, hope everyone is ok and lo's are all good too. Have been a bit ropey of late - IBS is awful but Milo is coming on leaps and bounds.

Am a bit worried that he isnt sitting up yet- i cant remember when my girls did, what age is usual?

Bumps sorry to hear about your mum - hope she is on the mend soon.
STW god knows how you are managing without a washing machine i would be buggered!
MOS H's baptism sounded lovely (and funny) :-) hope you have a fab holiday in France.
LLB sounds like you are doing well - and still plugging away at giving up - thats great :-) DH has started again unfortunately and no amount of nagging from me is making a difference PLUS it doesnt help me much as i dont smoke much but do get drawn occasionally to the evil weed.

Dinky glad you had fun in Suffolk - i really would love a holiday but we are having the extension done in about to months and there will be NO money for a while! (but two badly needed extra bedrooms hurrah!)

Went to London this weekend with the Kids and DH and visited Westfield, read back a couple of pages and saw that you visited Dinky - it is fab isnt it?

Feeling slightly vindicated when i told DH not to go near his parents for a couple of weeks after they got back from hols in Mexico last weekend, DH thought i was being silly till his dad phoned him yesterday to tell him to stay away too as his mum has just tested postitive for swine flu I just dont want either Milo (because he is so young)or myself (diabetes and asthma) to get it as it could be life threatening for us. The last time i caught a bad cold i got a chest infection that i ended up in hospital for so am hoping to REALLY not get swine flu! Luckily we havent seen the inlaws since they got back last weekend so should be fine.

Elkiedee your only 39 and have time to still think about a third - i am thinking about my 5th next year and i will be 38 although i am a bit scared at the thought of having two very young ones as havent done that since my early twenties

Cocodrillo · 14/07/2009 10:49

rosieposey DD1 didn't sit till 7 months. I think anything between 5 months and right up to 9 months is considered within normal parameters.

rosieposey · 14/07/2009 10:58

Ah thats ok then Cocodrillo just couldnt remember! Thanks.

Cocodrillo · 14/07/2009 11:03

much easier when they can sit though isn't it? well, until they start crawling

rosieposey · 14/07/2009 11:45

Lol i know - Milo wants to be permanently on his feet and i have to hold him up - bought a bumbo so he could sit up a little but it isnt as much fun as his jumperoo or walker which he has had for a week or so so he moans if he is put in it - i think he loves being upright so much (and bouncing) and scooting around in his walker (which he does quite well!). Just needs to master the whole sitting up thing and he wont be so frustrated and it will mean someone doesnt have to be permanetly holding him so he can sit up and see around

Calico1 · 14/07/2009 12:06

Rosie your fifth!!!

Markstretch - yes please! Any Suffolk info useful otherwise I'll just end up putting a pin in a map and going wherever.....

elkiedee · 14/07/2009 19:10

Rosie, thanks, but I have just had a birthday and haven't amended my profile accordingly. I feel a lot older than 39 suddenly.

elkiedee · 14/07/2009 19:17

Rosie, wow at having a 5th. I do have a friend who had her 1st at 37, 2nd at 41 and 3rd 17 months later (but eek at so close together though it was deliberate trying again so soon I think). And the whole testing experience with C was rather scary - to have gone from low to high risk in less than 2 years.

dinkystinky · 14/07/2009 20:23

Bumps - so sorry to hear about your mum and her dogs. Would have said that your DP was overreacting until today when DS1 went to pat a small dog sitting outside our local sainsburys and it snapped at him - terrified me (and him) though fortunately the dog didnt break his skin on his hand and I grabbed him away from the dog faster than the speed of light. I now totally get where your DP is coming from - though am sure that there will be some middle ground (maybe the dogs being put outside the room the DC are in?) so you can see your mum lots still too. Good news re O though.

STW - happy birthday to little O.

Calico - we stayed in Walpole, near Halesworth, which was about a 20 minute drive to Southwold or about 30 to Lowestoft or Kessingland. It was Henrys barn at Old Hall Farms - you can google it - and was great as v toddler friendly (all toddler proofed, owner provided baby stuff for us as needed, indoor heated pool we could use there and an indoor playbarn that kids could run around in when the weather is rubbish). All very nice around that part of the world so am sure Markstretch will be able to suggest lots more places nearer to the sea if you want that.

Rosie - wow at the building work starting so soon and an even bigger wow at thinking of no 5 so soon - you'll have to get another room squeezed into that extension. You must let me know how it goes living amongst all the chaos. Good to hear Milo is well. Yes Westfield is great - just saw that they've got A-ha playing there on 28 July which caused a major flashback to my childhood...

Am home alone with the boys this week as our nanny is on holiday and took Danny with me to DS1's toddler playgroup today and he loved seeing all the other kids and playing (well sucking) on the toys and even tried sitting on the floor by my feet for a few minutes, bless him. He definitely loves seeing other kids.

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 14/07/2009 20:49

rosie I wouldn't worry about the sitting up. Luke can do a few seconds sometimes, but not always. Ds1 did it early, but they all do when they're ready. 5-6 months is an average guide, I wouldn't weorry at all.
Although, when Luke is propped in his pushchair or bouncy chair or anything like that, even in door bouncer, he is always leaning off to one side, he doesn't ever seem to be straight unless he is laying flat.
Dp's still smoking. He was supposed to give up on friday but hasn't. He is on same method as me, so hopefully the pills will make him feel sick soon. Doesn't smoking stink? Never really noticed before....Hoping this is it for me now. We shall see. No pressure.
Hope your MIL recovers quickly and you and M stay clean of it.
Luke hates the bumboo thingys. I want to get him a walker, but dp says that anything ds1 coped without, Luke can do without. I keep telling him ds1 was an only child and had 100% attention and interaction from me which Luke doesn't. I think he gets a bit bored and would love to see him upright instead of strapped in a bouncer. He likes being on the floor, but gets very stressed when he can't roll from front to back, although he can, he just lazy!
Bumps Maybe your mum could get a muzzle for when you and dc's go round? I know they're not very nice, but you can get some nicer fabric ones now. I looked at them for my dog, but you can't leave them in them 24 hours a day. A few hours would be fine.
This is the scary thing with accidents, you just don't knoiw when they are going to happen, and yes, you can't keep children away from all animals at all times, but as dinky's ds1 found out today, they can snap quickly. I'm sure your mum's dogs are great and by no means would do anything to harm anyone without cause.

Had a nice day here. Think I've spotted a routine that fits all of us. I've been keeping a diary for the past week or so and just jotting down what happens and when in terms of feeding, naps, playing, cleaning etc and can see a pattern emerging. I know it won't last, but it helps me feel relaxed if I have an idea iyswim.
I mixed some mushed peas in with the carrot today and that seemed to go down better. He is on breakfastr and dinner, he might only have 2/3 spoons but that's ok. Might offer fruit puree for lunch from next week. At least then we have a meal plan for the day and can work on increasing when he's ready.......
Better hit 'post' now, the battery is dying. Vatch you all tomorrow. x
