jabs... bugger, forgot again!

dear god, he's almost 5 months and he's only had one lot

have fun herbie, bet it'll be great... sometimes not knowing the crowd you're out with makes it easier

SweetTalkinWoman · 01/07/2009 20:32

PT we're the same here! I keep forgetting and got a letter from the GP this week reminding me .

LBB just got your text and will reply but am still on for meeting on Monday if you are? Was going to suggest meeting at the Cafe au Play which is in the Rotunda (where the Odeon is) as it has good coffee and cakes and then a big play area for the kids! Not sure if morning or afternoon is best for you? Mornings generally better for us, because if DD refuses to sleep at lunchtime she's a cow in the afternoon!

Better go and pack bags for tomorrow - loads of "just in case" stuff needed! Am dreading the journey, but will give my biggest smile to the commuters and hope someone helps with steps etc.

How do you travel by cab with a baby? I might chicken out and get a cab at Waterloo, but how does it work? Can I just hold Sam on my lap in a Black Cab?

littleboyblue · 01/07/2009 20:46

STW Monday's still fine for me, I just wanted to double check what with Sam having his checks tomorrow/friday.
Morning is fine for us, just let me know a time so I can pre-plan our morning dressing times to make sure I get out on time. The bus journey can take about 45mins.
Will Sam not be in a pushchair? I'd keep him in that in a black cab. That's how I've always done it.

I think ds1 has officially hit the 'terrible 2's' He seems to just not want to listen or behave. May just be due to the weather, I hope so.

Luke's babbling ven more now, he makes the cutest little noises.

littlesez · 02/07/2009 06:38

Can't sleep boooooooooooooo. It is partly the heat and part agony from my last wisdom tooth coming through which has become infected, nice. So those of you who have had an epidural don't you think all pain relief is now worthless! I mean seriously if I ever have pain now I just want it to be eliminated not just the edge taken off with crappy paracetemol. I was contemplating asking for some anaesthetic to be injected into me by the dentist yesterday.

All the talk of threenagers makes me feel very grateful I only have one babe to keep me on my toes! I think I will wait til Isobella is in full time nursery school before we think about any more. She is starting to become more independant but just invested in a sling anyway (the baby bjorn is getting thrown out nasty back wrecking stupid impossible thing)It is gorgeous cannot wait to put her in it. Does anyone elses baby do this? Little scamp coughs if I leave the room! She is finding all these different nosies now me and hubby just lie there some mornings and giggle at her conversations through the monitor

Yes this heat is certainly hard for the little bubs but sleeping in just a nappy and fan in her room seems to help. And with regards to teething I have found that chewing on anything but usually my finger helps but only if she is not distressed, then for the times when she is upset the nelsons teetha or good old booby.

Any BF mums been out for the night yet? Bet I'm the only saddo who still hasn't gone out yet, tbh I don't really care. I have so much going on in the day, I'm always out at differnet meets so thats my social life!

Is anyone pregnant again yet? I can't imagine it in this weather Although i did have a dream the other night about being in labour and felt disappointed when I woke up, went through all that for nothing!

wow I need to get back to bed before I wear out the keyboard. Hello and hugs to all mums and babes, I know I'm not a regular on here but I do nosey on Fb at pics and updates (ha ha stalker!) Love sara xxx

littleboyblue · 02/07/2009 06:56

Hey littlesez Good to hear from you, sounds like you're all doing really well.

I'm going to get ds1's hair cut today, getting a bit out of control again!
He slept all through last night and didn't wake til 5:30am which was nice
He's now roaring at the tv, dp bought him Prime evil on dvd so he is engrossed atm.

Cocodrillo · 02/07/2009 09:14

You mean a dinosaur thing, not a horror movie?

littleboyblue · 02/07/2009 09:15

You know that series that's on ITV with whatsherface from S Club 7? Don't really know what it's about, but it keeps Jacob amused so I'm quite happy with it

Cocodrillo · 02/07/2009 09:17

After my rant the other day re dd2 she is being really sweet so far this morning, playing with her cars.

She launched herself headfirst out her cot last night tho, now has a massive bruise over bridge of nose and a swollen eye. We are going to have to put her in a bed. Arse.

Hi littlesez, glad all sounds good with you.

PinkTulips · 02/07/2009 09:56

coco.... dd fell out of bed last night and has a bruise on her face too, lol.

hello littlesez, good to hear from you and sounds like you're really enjoying isobella. i've been out for the night... with baby in tow he was out on the dancefloor more than i was!

we've had a breakthrough with the ebm situation though.... he'll drink from a dr. browns cup so we'll finally be able to go for a night out... yippee. left him with dp while i went on the swimming pool hunt with dd yesterday and they survived 3 hours without me

Calico1 · 02/07/2009 10:02

Hi all - been away on hols in Wales so not caught up properly yet. Was lovely - hot and sunny, we even went swimming in a mountain lake. Shame I had packed jumpers and wellies so we were all a bit over dressed for the heat-wave.....

Not so good since we've been back. Lilian has not been keeping her feeds down. Even water was making her throw up last night so I took her to hospital at 10pm as she started throwing up bile . Got back at 4.30am this morning after they managed to get a couple of syringes of water into her but she is puking up her feed again this morning so off to speak to GP as can't face another 6 hours in A&E.... she is smiling away in between puking so can't be too bad but just worried about her dehydrating in this heat.

Littlesez - oooh toothache is nasty, poor you.

Coco - I know what you mean about coping with a tantrumy 2 year old - God help us if the threes are worse than the twos. DS refused to get dressed this morning so went to nursery without his trousers on as I wasn't in the mood for a fight. Of course he let the nursery staff put them on without any fuss.....little tinker

Right back to trying to syringe some milk into DD.....

littleboyblue · 02/07/2009 14:55

I've just been asked if I'm expecting a baby
(not enough emoticons)

SweetTalkinWoman · 02/07/2009 15:59

Crikey LBB no wonder you're fuming!! Hope you put them straight and they were suitably embarrassed.

In posh hospital now - mobile has run out of juice and have sporadic internet access. Sam's probe didn't get put in til nearly 3pm, so alot of waiting around bearing in mind we had to be here at 9am. Also means we won't be leaving until 3pm at the earliest tomorrow. He's been a little soldier, smiling at all the nurses, but I'm pretty bored already!!! Not sure what to do come 7pm and Sam goes down for the night and I'm in the room with him. Maybe I should just go to bed then too and catch up on all that lost sleep!

Feel a bit of a fraud in fact. Watching all the beautiful people pass along the street below, and I'm sat here in Tesco jeans and a Primark top !

Hopeto catch you all later.

Calico - hope Lilian is starting to keep fluids down soon - poor little thing .

dinkystinky · 02/07/2009 16:21

Afternoon all. Calico - souds like you had a great time in Wales but so sorry to hear about Lilian's vomitting/lurgy - really hope she keeps her milk down now for you. Try sponging her down too to help keep her temperature - and need for extra fluids - down.

Pink - hurrah for the Dr Brown's cup! Great stuff. Danny has taken some water from a tommee tippee cup from our nanny so - as am out tonight for a meeting at DS1's new preschool - am leaving a bottle of EBM with her and instructions to give him it via bottle or cup depending on what he's willing to accept.

LittleSez - lovely to see you on. Ouch re the wisdom tooth though. My threenager is being lovely today (with out any concussion) so they're not all bad!

LBB - Cheeky! Hope DS1's hair cut was ok.

Danny had a raging temperature last night - screaming in pain for half of it poor little mite. Cue calpol, cuddles and lots of mummy rocking and bfing through the night. He seems better now - or at least in a better mood - so hopefully his reaction to the jabs has subsided. Meant to be packing for our week in Suffolk but really cant motivate myself to do it - guess will have to do it tonight at some point. I just wish, for once, DH would actually pack for the kids - all he does for holiday is sling some stuff in a bag for him and I get to pack for everyone else Mind you if I let it to him am sure DS1 would have just 2 pairs of swimming trunks and Danny one pair of socks and a vest to last for the week...

dinkystinky · 02/07/2009 16:22

STW - glad Sam is being a little trooper with his test. Is there a parent's room or a lounge you could go to when he's asleep tonight or do you have to stay with him at all times?

mumoverseas · 02/07/2009 19:49

OMG! I'm so fucking stupid. I've had the day from hell, in fact a few days from hell.
Took DCs 1, 3 & 4 to Thorpe Park yesterday and DS1 promised to help with 3 & 4. Needless to say, he buggered off on all the rise leaving me with the gruesome twosome for most of the day, I was rushed off my feet and got badly sunburnt (kids were fine, sunblock, hats, shade etc)

Anyway, I've had the headache from hell since last night. Had to get up early to drive DS to orthadontists (good result there by the way) then shopping etc and opticians pm. Just sat down for a meal in a restaurant and got a call from one of his friends in Saudi flying out from LGW tomorrow am and I had to pick up some papers from him that DH had given him to bring home. My fault, I'd totally forgotten so had to rush meal and drive over there to pick up from his hotel. Petrol on red so rushed to petrol station on way home, two kids screaming in car etc.
Anyway, filled up, on way home and suddenly realised I put in petrol instead of diesel. Was literally half a mile from home, couldn't stop safely so carried on driving and DS1 phoned DS and told him and asked what we should do. I can understand DH being pissed off but I don't really think he needed to shout at my down the phone. I know I made a mistake, I tried to sort it. Phoned the AA as soon as I got home and they are coming out so I could do without beeing screamed at and lectured about how much money its going to cost to sort out my mistake. Fucking bastard. He forgets the fact that I've not driven for over 6 months and this was the first time I'd filled up with petrol since November. Sorry, rant over. Will now read your news x

SweetTalkinWoman · 02/07/2009 20:31

What a complete nightmare MOS. It's a mistake anyone could make - particularly as it's not second nature to you. I hope you get a good apology from DH.

Had a frusttrating and rather boring day here in hospital. The tube was only in for a ccuple of hours before Sam decided to pull it out, right in front of my eyes . I was just about to feed him so was asked not to until they put another tube in, because it makes them gag and throw up. This was about 4.30pm. By 7pm I was still waiting for them to recalibrate the machine and Sam had been screaming with hunger for an hour. I fed him in the end and now they are going to put the tube in an hour, then xray it. This means another over night stay tomorrow - and no phone!!

Dinky - there is a parent lounge, but not sure how it works out as I wouldn't hear Sam if he was crying. Also, when I passed earlier it was full of Middle Eastern women in full gear - I'm in the minority here!

Better be off and conserve battery power because it's going top be anohter long, lonely day tomorrow.

mumoverseas · 02/07/2009 21:11

oh bugger, STW, I meant to send you a message saying hope all goes well. Poor little mite, that is so unfair letting him get that hungry. Hope it all goes ok.

BTW, if you go past all the ninjas again (ME covered women) say 'salam' (hi) or 'asalam alykum' (the usual greeting they use meaning peace be with you)

Hugs to you x

Not expecting an apology. He is livid with me. DS phoned AA who are coming out tomorrow to drain the car and it will cost £200 and then I have to fill the sodding thing up again. (just put in £70!) fingers crossed it didn't cause any damage, hopefully not as I only drove less than a mile

herbgarden · 02/07/2009 21:50

STW - sorry you're going through it in there with Sam - poor little thing. Must have been hard listening to him knowing he was hungry but not being able to feed him. Hope as an upside that it's nice and air-conned in there so that if nothing else you're all nice and cool rather than sticky and hot at home. I suspect though that if it's a posh hospital that'll be the case.

Oh dear MOS...that's the sort of thing I'd do....Men are so impatient sometimes aren't they.

Had a lovely evening out with the ladies last night. They were all very friendly and not at all "exclusive" so enjoyed myself and glad I went. Busy old day today with our usual playgroup session and then my pregnant friend came over with her 3 year old and DS and her spent the afternoon waiving between spatting and getting on. It was utterly exhausting in this heat and I was almost quite relieved when they left and just turned the telly on for half an hour of peace whilst DD was also napping. They'd given me a headache !!.....I'm going to bed in a minute and DH is on lates.

herbgarden · 02/07/2009 21:51

late feeds that is ....can't wait for that to go but don't want to drop it until she's on food....!

littleboyblue · 02/07/2009 22:05

Cali Glad you had a nice holiday Hope Lilian's doing a bit better
STW Hope you and Sam are both ok. I'd def be catching up on a bit of sleep I find a good old crossword (that I am not clever enough to complete) sends me right off. lol
dinky Hope Danny's ok now. Poor little love.
mos Sorry you've had a crappy day. You are not the first person to fill with diesel and not petrol and you won't be the last. Hope you told dh he's being a jerk
I'm just up the road from Thorpe Park, but have never been.
STW I'm sure the nurses keep an eye and ear out anyway. When ds1 was in hospital when he was 3 months, I was in and out all the time smoking, eating and what not They even told me I could go home for a bit and they'd feed/change him and everything. I didn't go home, but some parents can't always be there on children's ward, so if you want to pop to the canteen or somewhere else, just tell the duty nurse where you're going and sure it'll be fine. I left Luke for a while the day after he was born to smoke and make phone calls.

Ds1 looks lovely with his haircut. He was sooooo good too. He sat on my lap and stayed still yelling "wow" into the mirror.

PinkTulips · 03/07/2009 10:35

STW {hugs} what a rotten evening.

i seconf what lbb said, the nurses are usually very on the ball for calling you if the baby needs you, he'll be fine if you go off for a coffee or some food or just to chill out and watch tv in the parnets lounge... chances are he'll not even notice you're gone. i know it's hard leaving them for even a few minutes but in some ways it's better to take care of yourself so that if he does need you you're bale to cope rather than exhausting yourself sitting by his side worrying

good luck, hope he behaves himself with the tube... they have a knack for yanking them out, aaron wasted no time hauling his out and even the little premmy babies in SCBU often managed to pull them out!

bumpsnowjustplump · 03/07/2009 12:14

afternoon all. Sorry i have been busy in RL with two poorly babies. I think we are turning a corner now so should be able to keep up a bit more.

katieblirdsnest · 03/07/2009 12:57

STW hope you're doing OK and you managed to get some sleep. hopefully they'll finish the tests today and you can get home.

i've been absent for a while and annoyingly missed the meet up as i had to go on a last minute visit to my parents.

we've found a nanny and she's accepted our job offer!

dd has got a place in a MUCH better school than the one we'd previously been offered. went to visit this week and i feel really comfortable and happy with it.

and ivor is mainly sleeping through for 12 hour stretches at night.

all this has happened in the last few days and i can't believe how much better i feel. i hadn't realised how much the nanny and school situation was playing on my mind. i can now go back to enjoying my time with the squabs and my last few weeks of maternity leave.

we're off on holiday for a couple of weeks, first week in the new forest and second week in spain at the in-laws.

nkweto · 03/07/2009 18:24

STW .. a hug to you.. what a week, I would echo what others say. See if the nurses can cover so you can take a break..

MOS ... sorry about your car

Dinky.. hope Danny is better..

Katie ... great news about your nanny and your dd's school.. that is fantastic news!

Bump.. hope your little ones are feeling better soon

Herb.. i want to go on a girly night out too !!!

I think i have missed lots.. it has been a very full on week. The first half was unbearable..then second half was ok..i think i am ok now.. and the children are nearly settled in nursery now. going to do bedtime hour and then have a LARGE glass of wine..

nkweto · 03/07/2009 18:24

ps.. PT.. DD has only had one set of jabs too.. REALLY have to sort that out
