Well we went to friends house (she said it was fine) in the end DS has had two feeds and not been sick. no more poo's either and to top it off dd had 5 wees on the potty while there and no accidents. I feel 100% better than I did this morning and am so pleased and proud of both my children.....

MarkStretch · 19/06/2009 12:59

Hello all.

I won't be able to make the meet-up next week as I will be at Glastonbury festival. Woo!

Have started packing already as we leave on Tuesday. I must be mad, you should see the amount of stuff we have. Stuff seems to accompany children.

I would be up for another meet-up in August though and would be easier for me as it's summer hols

PinkTulips · 19/06/2009 13:47

dinky, Aaron hated the calpol but quite liked the neurofen yesterday, didn't spit any out and i've alway found neurofen far more effective for fevers and teething.

With regard to the leaving to cry, it was late getting the older two to bed last night and i was on my own so once i was sure Aaron was full of milk and had a clean nappy i had to leave him down screaming while i dealt with them. By the time the urchins were in bed he'd rolled onto his tummy and fallen asleep... and slept til 2.30, fed and slept til 8am! Felt mean at the time but i really didn't have much choice as he was so cranky yesterday i knew i wouldn't be able to settle him before dealing with them and they needed to get to bed (was 9pm by the time they eventually went down)

MS... have fun

dd had her end of playschool party tomorrow, both she and ds1 will be going to the summer camp in this playschool next week, then a couple of weeks off, 2 weeks in the summer camp in the next village and then all of august off.... hope to god the weather improves a little!

found out yesterday that someone who works in the local pub quit last week so have asked my friend who works there if there are any shifts going... could do with some extra cash at this point!

PinkTulips · 19/06/2009 13:51

she had her party today rather... brain is in mush between the migraine and the painkillers that are taking the edge off the migraine!

Cocodrillo · 19/06/2009 14:00

Took all the DCs to soft play today (bloody inset day at DD1's school). Anticipated sheer hell on earth. Was pleasantly surprised! Successful outing. Little DS was in the ball pit at one stage. Had to hang on tight to him, or I'd never have see him again. He's such a jolly little fatty. Only prob with him is he will not nap. He has about 3 half hour naps all day, little bugger. My house is a sty. I have baskets of clean washing everywhere.

katieblirdsnest · 19/06/2009 14:01

Ooh MS I'm very jealous, haven't been since i had dd. you'll have a brilliant time, who are you hoping to see? i really must go next year.

dd went round to our friends when she was about 2, pointed at her iron and asked 'what's that?'...i think that says all you need to know about the ironing habits in our house.

SweetTalkinWoman · 19/06/2009 15:12

Cocodrillo Sam seems to be a catnapper at the moment, napping for about 30 mins 5 times a day!! It seems to work for him at the moment but I'm hoping he'll cut down to a couple of longer ones soon. Thing is, he gets carted off to all sorts of activities, whereas with DD, we were at home alot so she was napping in her cot more.

Rubbish night here again. It was sort of our own fault. We ended up having another heart to heart and didn't go to bed until midnight . Then DD woke up looking for Igglepiggle at 1am, Sam woke for a feed at 2am, then he woke again at 5am wanting to play. DD was also up from 6am asking to wtch Peppa Pig. I feel defeated.

Just had a bit of retail therapy and have bought myself an epilator, so if you hear screaming tonight, you know where it's coming from!

I won't bore you with the details, but GP is still refusing to prescribe any dairy free formula . My lovely health visitor out me in touch with a dietician at Kingston Hospital who has given me 4 tins of Nutramigen. DH went and spent £75 on Neocate as well so we should be able to last until 29th June which is our NHS appointment.

Just had a little cry watching last night's Grey's Anatomy and now need to research which lightweight stroller we will buy to replace ours that broke yesterday. Am thinking we will just shell out for a Maclaren Techno as they have great reviews. They are everywhere, but that must be for a reason. Any recommendations?

SweetTalkinWoman · 19/06/2009 15:34

Another non-ironing household here! We had to look for the iron the other day because we hadn't seen it since we had the kitchen done, which was last December .... I'm a very careful drier and folder!!

PinkTulips · 19/06/2009 15:59

i have a cosotto hula as our lightweight one and love it but afaik it's from 6 months plus, i'm still putting aaron in the old buggy part of the travel system we bought for dd (all 3 of the times he's been in the buggy so far )

mumoverseas · 19/06/2009 18:24

hello all,
you are right, why do I bother ironing DC's clothes? so used to everything being ironed at home, even pants and socks!

MS, look forward to meeting you in August

LBB in the naughty corner

STW what a PITA about your doctor. Sounds like a real bastard who clearly hasn't got any kids.
Are you looking for a stroller for DD or DS? If DD how old is she?

mslucy · 19/06/2009 18:28

We have an iron but it only gets used about once a year. Ironing is the devil's work (as is washing, but if you don't do it you will smell).

I have only owned Technos (apart from some crapola thing with a wheel like a supermarket trolley that DS bought off the internet). They are da bomb - light, fast and you get them on and off buses without giving yourself a hernia.

mumoverseas · 19/06/2009 18:37

STW If you need the buggy for DD I have a pink flowery mclaren quest which you can have. DD has outgrown it and I'm currently bidding for a P & T on ebay. Think you are in Chessington, and if so, I'm going there on Sunday with DDs so could drop it off if its any use to you?

SweetTalkinWoman · 19/06/2009 19:10

Ah thanks for the offer MOS - I really need something for DD and DS (obviously for when I have them on their own!). I'm thinking of selling my Britax Vigour travel system carrycot thingy, because Sam prefers sitting up a bit and it's taking up sooo much room in the magic cupboard under the stairs. Have been looking on 'tinterweb this afternoon and popped into John Lewis and think we will go for the Techno - I'm 5'11'' and DH is 6'3'' so we need something with good handle height and suitable from 4 months, so I think that's the one for us.

Off to try the epilator now. Have just downed a glass of wine to take the edge off!

elkiedee · 19/06/2009 23:23

I have a Maclaren Techno for Conor - DinkyStinky brought her Danny in an identical buggy to Pushy Mothers the other week! We have a Quest for my Danny (DS1) which is fine but the Techno is cosier, was suitable from birth (Quest is ok from 3 months though) and has better brakes on the bus, though I still feel I need to hold on to it round corners - had a terrifying bus journey home today though fortunately only I fell over, C's buggy didn't move for once.

swampster · 19/06/2009 23:53

Hello, lurking here but can't resist the ironing talk.

DS3 (now 3) asked me what a toy iron was at playgroup the other day. I tried to explain and he was totally incredulous. He thinks it must be for cooking with.

swampster · 19/06/2009 23:54

Of course that was DS2. DS3 doesn't know what an iron is either.

littleboyblue · 20/06/2009 07:25

Morning all.
bumps Hope ds is a bit better today. I would have still gone to playgroup tbh, is that really awful and irresponsible? Probably
MS Sorry you can't make the meet, but have a great time at the festival.
PT We found the same with nurofen over calpol with ds1 so will have to try Luke on it too.
That's it about the crying, as long as they are fed, safe and aren't unwell, sometimes you have to leave them don't you? I always feel a bit guilty, but there are things you have to get done aren't there?
swampy

We are supposed to be driving up to Warwickshire for a family party today, but dp isn't up yet . He knows that we have to do things around Luke's feeding times and as I'm struggling to get him into a feeding routine, it's a bit unpredictable so we said we'd leave asap after his first feed which was at 6:30.

I have to share, at playgroup yesterday, ds1 managed to tip a whole jug of quash on the floor. It fell, he covered his mouth with his hand and then yelled "Oh duck!"
Going to have to be very careful what I say now. Fiddlesticks and all that from here.

dinkystinky · 20/06/2009 09:48

LBB - we introduced a swear box when DS1 was turning 2 as he was picking up everything we said. Though we gave up after about 2 weeks when DH had about £20 of IOUs in the box....

Swampster -

Markstretch - have fun at Glastonbury. Are you camping with the kids? Brave lady...

STW - re pushchairs - I have the Maclaren XLR for when I'm using public transport (use the Quinny buzz had for DS1 when am driving places). Its good but a little on the heavy side - however I had decided to go for something abit heavier than the lightweight Maclarens as am using it with a buggyboard for when am out and about with DS1 too - and yesterday found that DS1 (3 year old) can also fit into it for his snoozes if we're out all day which is a bonus. Hope the epilator wasnt too painful and yay for the nutritionist sorting you out with something. Hope the different formulas help Sam out.

Went to taste of london food festival with DS1, Danny and DH yesterday which was great - both boys really enjoyed it as did DH and I though have a horrible cold at the moment (obviously caught from DS1 and Danny) so was feeling like rubbish last night. On the plus side, at least hopefull Danny will be getting a nice antibody boost from my milk to help him kick his cold a little quicker.

PinkTulips · 20/06/2009 10:32

lbb... we're chronic swearers too but the kids haven't really picked up on it. DD tried out 'for fuck's sake!' a couple of times but we didn't react and she got bored.

My aunt swears alot too and when her ds was 2 he went through a stage of jumping on her bed in the morning shouting 'fuck, fuck, fuck' as it was guaranteed to get a reaction, once she stopped reacting he stopped saying it. Most kids won't be interested unless it gets a reaction... my friend has awful trouble with her little girl though, she's the youngest of 6 by 12 years so the older ones are all in their teens and 20's and egg her on when she swears and teach her new words and she's renowned at playschool for being rather inclined to shout 'fuck off you bastard' at anyone who's annoying her.... unfortunately not helped by the fact hat the entire room breaks into laughter when she does it

dinky, that food festival sounds lovely, wish we had events like that round here.

swampy.. my 2 are facinated with the ironing board at playschool too... i've tried explaining what it's for but due to the fact that i can't comprehend ironing myself i don't think it was a very satisfying explanation i bought an iron in lidl on a whim once and it's sitting on the sideboard acting as a nice little dust gatherer... occasionally if something i'm ebabying is paticularily rumples it gets hauled out but that's about the limit of it's usefullness.

splitting headache again... don't want to keep popping painkillers though so trying to tough it out... suppose i should be grateful that at least it's not a full on migraine

PinkTulips · 20/06/2009 10:34

ebabying? ... not that i'm not tempted to some days but i obviously menat ebaying

swampster · 20/06/2009 10:50

I should do some ebabying!

Last Sunday DS1 and DS2 were jumping around in our bedroom yelling their heads off and scrapping. At about 6am. When I finally woke up properly two hours later I had to ask DH whether I had really shouted: "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" or if I had dreamt it. He had heard nothing, so it must have been a dream.

PinkTulips · 20/06/2009 10:55

obviously... coz a good parent would never shout that at her children

[adjusts teetering halo and practices innocant expression]

dinkystinky · 20/06/2009 13:57

at the ebabying Pink!

Loving the children swearing stories. We used to have a childminder whose husband used to swear away when we were little but my parents never swear - my favourite story about my sister is about when she was 2 and she was playing in the kitchen while mum was getting stuff out from the car and had the frontdoor open. Mum finally came in and shut the door and was looking everywhere for my sister who was nowhere to be seen - cue mum running frantically around the house, looking out on to the street and finally getting on the phone to my dad at work at the hospital... while she was on hold for someone to find dad my sister piped up from under the kitchen table "Mum - I'm fucking stuck" Not sure which was the greater shock for my poor mum

Yes camping with both children. Tent has just arrived. It's massive.

DD has gone on her first proper sleepover with her Rainbows group, not a family member in sight. She's taken a photo of Frank to put under her pillow

I hope she's ok.

On the plus side I have just put a lovely big chicken curry in the oven and we have homemade onion bhajees, poppadoms and naan to stuff ourselves with.

MarkStretch · 20/06/2009 17:52

Oh and Swampy, you did yell it, I heard it in Norfolk.
